Lazarus: Enter the Deadspace

Rate this book
"He called to the darkness... and Lazarus came forth." When a chemical bomb explodes in Williamsburg, Virginia, a deadly virus is released.

For the young Kurt Adler, it was supposed to be a simple field trip – avoid the bullies, talk to his crush, survive the day. He had no clue that his life was about to turn upside down. Finding himself separated from the only family he has left, he decides to make his way through a world gone mad to find his sister.

There are monsters around every corner. Humans turned to feral savages. Cultists waging war in the physical and non-physical plane. And a shadow world full of horrors and demons.

It’s not all bad, though.

He has a friend.

Lucas Dixon. A man with a gun, a car named Donny, and a scar on his chest from the day he died.

ENTER THE DEADSPACE is brought to you by Willcocks and Kondor, two of the groundbreaking authors behind the iTunes chart-busting podcast, The Other Stories, and the story studio, Hawk & Cleaver - A digital story studio bringing you the best new stories to watch, read, sniff, and absorb.

Lazarus: Enter the Deadspace by Daniel Willcocks and Luke Kondor is a different take on the dead rising. With a tidal wave of this genre, this book is pleasantly different and makes a big standout. It is different, refreshing, a fantasy and sci-fi at the same time. A great plot, interesting characters, twists and surprises, and it is not exactly what you would expect. It kept me interested and I read it all in one sitting. This is a great young adult book but adults or teens would like it too.

I received an advance review copy in exchange for a review. I was a little late in finishing this story unfortunately, but definitely wanted to still leave a review!

Daniel Willcocks and Luke Kondor have written an amazing modern horror story! Lazarus: Enter the Deadspace offers an interesting concept on the phrase "light at the end of the tunnel". This story gives us a look into what sort of consequences are possible when science attempts to understand what's on the other side of life. Unfortunately for Kurt Adler, an innocent teenager, those consequences turn his life even more upside down than it already was. Ride along with Kurt Adler and Lucas Dixon as they try to uncover the mysteries of the enigmatic Lazarus, and attempt to stay alive in the process. Lazarus: Enter the Deadspace is action packed and terrifying the further you delve into the story.

Excellent Writing

This story was terrifying in places with the way the authors described the sounds in a way that I could truly hear while reading. A great mixed genre novel that I really could not put down!

Simply outstanding! I've read nearly everything that these two authors have produced and this is their best work yet. It's a tale of feral humans and a race for a young boy to try to find his sister and survive against all the odds. There's just enough believable sounding science in there to give the story a realism it wouldn't have otherwise and there's ever a few bits of social commentary as well as a bloody good story. The moment I started reading I was gripped and finished it in about 3 sessions. The book has a similar style to a Stephen King novel but without the massive backstory that his often do meaning Lazarus has a faster pace, which in turn makes it so hard to put down. The characters are believable and have you rooting for them right from the start. They act in a sensible way but there is always that tensions there that one of the authors might just decide to do away with one of them at any minute, you'll have to read it to see if they do. I really can't recommend this highly enough.

Horror?

My current favorite genre is post apocalyptic & zombies. I like horror, supernatural horror especially and this seemed like a book I could enjoy. It was great! Kurt is a young boy whose parents are killed and he is now in a foster home. He has been separated from his sister Amy. Not by choice.
His class in school has taken a field trip to Williamsburg to witness a recreation of one battle of independence. But someone (or something) else has decided another battle is about to begin.
Six young scientists have developed a drug that will carry you to what they call the dead space. A worthy objective. But things go wrong & they have abandoned the drug years earlier. Somehow someone has modified & plans to use this drug on the Williamsburg reenactment.
The authors characters are developed well. The storyline is followed throughout. Tense at times but very well written.
I enjoyed this book tremendously. It's nice to open a book that can keep your attention so much that you don't want to quit reading! 😉

I love anything by Dan Wilcox. A must for your collection. I am addicted to his Podcast “The Other Stories”. I crave the thrill of the collaboration of stories from Dan Wilcox and Luke Condor. Luckily books from Mr Wilcox fill in my wait time.

Kurt has gone on a class field trip..but one that will change his life forever. A crazy man holds a bomb with a strange yellow liquid and states that he is setting it off in the name of Lazarus.
Lucas is a man who knows what the liquid is and tries to stop it but he is too late to keep the future from rolling forward.
Now they both are racing against time and the very dangerous zombie like ferals that wish anything in sight harm. Will they survive, pick this up and find out!!!
