A heartwarming story of forgiveness and second chances. When newly widowed Virginia Flynn turns an abandoned mansion into the Firefly Inn, she never dreams that the inn’s other-worldly guest will play a mysterious part in her plans, starting right with her first visitor…. Stacy Brighton left her hometown on the coast of Maine ten years ago for bigger and better things and never looked back. But when her father dies unexpectedly, she’s forced to return. She won’t spend a minute longer than she has to, though. That town is full of bad memories and she doesn’t want to see any of the people she left behind, especially not Reid Callahan. Reid Callahan never wanted anything more than to live his life in Rocky Point. He loves the simple, small-town life and has proudly grown his small lobstering business into one of the premier restaurants in the area. He’s made a good life for himself but something seems to be missing. And when Stacy comes back to town, he knows exactly what it is. Too bad Stacy has no intention of staying… or does she? Even their growing attraction might not be enough to soothe old wounds and when their worst fears take root, one of them may have to sacrifice everything they thought they wanted in order to give their hearts another chance.
This is the first in a new series by Annie Dobbs (aka Leighann Dobbs). Stacy returns to her hometown in Maine for her father's funeral. It's the first time she's been back since she left after high school. On her way to the bed and breakfast, a newly renovated old home, where she'll be staying, she literally runs into the last person she wants to see, her former fiance Reid. While home for her father's funeral she reconnects with her sister and mother, but she keeps running into Reid, which makes her remember all the things they did together, and she starts to think about why they broke up. There's a subplot in the story that takes place at the B&B owned by Ginny. Stacy keeps seeing someone or something and Ginny finds the salt and pepper shakers moved. While growing up Stacy always thought the old house was haunted, maybe it wasn't just because it was an abandoned, old house. I enjoyed the story quite a bit. Even though Stacy and Reid's story takes place for the few days she's home for the funeral it didn't feel rushed. I liked how she was able to look back at things that happened when she was a child and see that it wasn't all bad. That there was a positive side to her dad losing his job, and that her mom stayed where she was because she liked it there. This is a clean romance story but there is a little mild cursing (no profanity).
Perfect love story. Coming home may not be easy but sometimes it's the best thing for everyone. Absolutely loved the ghost sub plot and can't wait for the next book in the series.
I enjoyed this book because it had family, romance, sadness & my favorite, ghosts. I would have liked more ghost interaction but I have a feeling that may come in later issues. 😂 I liked how it reminds people how important family really is & how you never know how long you have in this world.
Stacy Brighton, a successful event coordinator, returns home to Rocky Point, Maine for her father's funeral. She had left home ten years earlier running from the person who had hurt her the most, and of course, he would be the first person she literally runs into while arriving back in town. While home, she is confronted with all the reasons that she originally left and kept her away. Her personal high school bully. The man she was in love with, but she was not good enough for him to leave with her while she went to college because he was also seeing someone else. What if she was wrong all those years ago? Was there too many harsh words and feelings between her and Reid all those years ago to give them a second chance at what they could have had ten years ago? Did she even want to know the answer to that one? Staying at a remodeled B&B, she keeps noticing someone moving around the old house, while the owner is in a different part of the house, each time. But there is never anyone else in the room when she goes to investigate. The owner keeps noticing things being moved from where she had them. Could this old house really be haunted by a ghost like Stacy had always pretended it to be when she was younger? MAYBE EVEN A HELPFUL ONE? Annie Dobbs is a pen name for Leighann Dobbs. The story is well written and had well developed characters and a solid plot line with no profanity or sexual innuendo. This was a fun and sweet romance that had a reminiscent feel of the 1947 movie "The Ghost & Mrs. Muir"
Leighann Dobbs usually writes cozy mysteries but under her pseudonym of Annie Dobbs she has written a romance. Another Chance is mainly about Stacey Brighton and Reid Callahan and if they can find the love they once had for each other. The story is set in the coastal town of Rocky Point, Maine. Stacey left 10 years ago to live in a big city. She didn't like small town life and felt her boyfriend, Reid, was keeping secrets from her. Reid liked living there and lobstering. He has become very successful in town. Stacey is only returning to town because her father died and she needs to help her mother and sister. She is hoping she can do what she needs to without seeing Reid. Unfortunately that isn't the case. She literally runs into him with her car soon after she gets to town. Since they keep seeing each other they begin to feel they might have a chance after all.
Stacey is the first guest at the Firefly Inn, a new Bed and Breakfast, while in town. Ginny, recently widowed, has opened the Firefly Inn as she and her husband had dreamed of doing. Unknown to Ginny the Inn he its very own ghost.
I loved this book and can't wait for more in the series. The characters are well developed with a good romance. It will be interesting to learn more about the ghost and why he is still at Firefly Inn.
This was a great romance story by Annie Dobbs. When Stacy Brighton's father passed away, Stacy returns home for his funeral. It has been ten years since Stacy left Boulder Point heading to Columbus, Ohio for a new life and career. When Reid Callahan broke her heart by siding with Gabby, the girl who had bashed her in high school repeatedly after Staff's father lost his job and they had to move into the trailer park. Reid had refused to tell her about his connection with Gabby and had chosen to stay rather than go with Stacy when she left town even though I had been so in love in high school. This story also includes Ginny, the new owner of the Firefly Inn whose resident ghost, Dooley, keeps moving the salt and pepper shakers Ginny found she moved there. A must read for those who enjoy reading a sweet romance.
This review is from: Another Chance (Firefly Inn Sweet Romance Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition) This is the first book in a new series by Annie Dobbs. I love small town romance series, and I'm excited to read the first one. You can really get to know the characters like Ginny, the innkeeper of the Firefly Inn, who dreamed of opening the Inn with her husband who passed away almost before they could get the restoration of the magnificent old home started. Or Stacey, who has returned to the hometown she couldn't wait to leave 10 years ago, to bury her father, and reconnect with her mother and sister. Or Reid, who was Stacey's best friend and beau before Gabby came into the picture. Stacey and Reid can't avoid each other. Another Chance is the story about how Stacy and Reid reconnect and learn to trust again. Did I mention that the Inn has a resident ghost? I hope to learn more about him as the series progresses. Another Chance is a sweet, fun read. I highly recommend!
Girl meets boy, boy is dumb and looses girl, finally girl figures it out and gets boy back. After ten years Stacy has to return home for her father's funeral and runs into the man she still loves even though he seemed to be having an affair with her worst enemy. Read to find out what really happens. Plus maybe there is a ghost involved. As usual Ms. Dobbs has a good book on her hands.
Great new series! Love the Maine small town setting! Wonderful characters who you’d like to know in person! Twists and turns to the fast-paced storyline that keep you wanting to read to the end! Recommend to anyone who likes a happily-ever-after story that warms the heart!
Annie aka Leighann Dobbs just knows how to grab your attention in these light reads. She manages to give you just enough to make you flip to the next page. The characters in this book are so easy to relate to & to identify with persons in your life. Secrets are meant to be kept, family ties bind and love hurts...
I usually do not read romance books, but had an opportunity to read this one from Annie Dobbs. I loved the book, characters and the plot line. I have read other books from Leighann Dobbs and will definitely read more romance in this series.
Lee Dobbs did it again. Thanks for the first of another great series, Lee. Can not wait for the next installment in the series. Ginny and the firefly inn looks to be an a fun new adventure. Loved it.
I love any wrote by Annie or Leighann Dobbs They are the same person. She is very talented and draws you Into the story Her books you would miss almost any event, just so you. can see what happens next.
I am not a romance fan however, I am a fan of Leigh Ann Dobbs other books so I took a chance on this one. So glad I did! Such a sweet sad love story with a few twists and a Ghost and Mrs. Muir vibe. Loved every word and can't wait to read more.
A quick read, typical romance. Leighann Dobbs always does a great job. The entire plot is revealed in the first chapter and you just have to wait for it to play out. I own most of her books. I guess I'm too old for Cozys and novellas anymore. Dobbs always delivers hence the 4 stars
What a wonderful story about love, loss and second chances. Lots of good characters. I was also disappointed in the amount of errors throughout. I will check the next book in this series to see if its better.
A real sweet romance and a haunted inn. High school sweethearts and dreams of the future and secrets can change it all but the truth can make dreams come true. This story draws you in until the last pages are read. A must read. Enjoy
What a sweet read, I love the description of the Inn and the quaint town, Characters were memorable the storyline was engaging with just enough romance and drama for me.
And I am so glad I received the ARC. This is the first in the Firefly Inn series. Virginia (Ginny) Flynn is creating a welcoming atmosphere as she remodels the derelict mansion in Rocky Point, Maine that she and her late husband purchased. (I'd love to stay there.) Her first guest is a former resident of Rocky Point, Stacey Brighton, who has returned from Ohio for her father’s funeral. She plans to stay for the funeral, spend some time with her mother and sister and return to Ohio to her job as a successful event planner, without running into Reid Callahan, her high school sweetheart.
The best laid plans. . .As she reconnects with her family and her hometown and Reid, she examines her life and her goals, aided by Ginny and the Inn’s resident friendly poltergeist.
I’ve read the book twice now, not something I normally do, but I enjoyed it so much the first time and equally the second time.
Annie Dobbs, aka Leighann Dobbs, has come up with another series that I have fallen in love with. Newly widowed Virginia Flynn has opened the Firefly Inn and welcomed her very first guest, Stacy Brighton. Stacy, who has been gone from her home on the coast of Maine for the past 10 years, has come back for her father's funeral. Between meeting up with her ex-boyfriend, helping her mother and sister settle her father's affairs and wondering if there is a ghost at the Inn, Stacy has her work cut out for her. In the meantime, Virginia is getting the Inn and the grounds ready for a wedding that will be coming up soon. I can't wait to read more books in this delightful series!
I received this book for free from the author/publisher in response for an honest review of the book. I have not had the opportunity to read this book at this time. I will add my review of this book once I have read the book. Thank k you for allowing me the optometrist review your work. I look forward to reading this book.
