The chance of Reagan meeting a guy who sees her as one of a kind: better than she thinks.

Following in her sisters’ footsteps—and, all too often, their shadows—is nothing new to Reagan. But a disastrous first day at Fairview High forces her down a new path, one that could lead to seeing herself as more than just someone else’s sister. Things aren’t going as smoothly for Reilly, Reece, and Rhiannon though. How can Reagan let herself be happy—or dare to fall in love—when she may be the only one who can bring her family back together?

As a twin, there's nothing better than reading about twins...apart from reading about quadruplets! This was the definition of a lovely YA contemporary. It felt like I was looking through a window into the lives of the four girls. It was sometimes gentle, sometimes conflicted but felt like a genuine reflection of what real life would be like for these girls.

Fairview reminded me a lot of Star's Hollow from 'Gilmore Girls', which was extra special, and I can't wait to read the next book that focuses on a different sister.

Reagan was a great main character and I loved watching her settle into a new town and gain new friends. Moving is one of my favourite inciting incidents for a story and this managed to deal with that change without being too melodramatic, which I see all too often!

Oh man, did I love this book.

It was gentle and sweet...the perfect read for when I'm still in a bit of a reading slump. I love contemporaries that are a bit meandering and I feel like I haven't read one like this in such a long time. It was like putting on an episode of Gilmore Girls. All cozy and stress-free.

I really loved the small town setting, and the way it moved so quickly through the seasons. Just the concept of a book about quadruplets makes me happy and I think Reagan was the perfect sister to start with!

In May 2015, I read a book Four of a Kind by Kellie Sheridan and just recently, read Four of a Kind by Kellie Bean. This book turned out to be the same series, but I think the author had re-written the book as though some parts were the same with the four of them moving to their new town, it had a lot of new add-ons from when I read the first Four of a Kind. From Reagan finally finding her way in the world and creating new friends to her interactions with her sisters who are also trying to find themselves and create new identities for themselves which is hard when you all look like one another. If you love family stories, identical sisters and high school life then you will love Four of a Kind. It did get me wondering what my life would have been like if I had an identical twin sister or even more so - three more of myself. Would we be close and have some personalities the same or would we be as different on the inside as chalk and cheese?

Four of a Kind by Kellie Bean was so cute and relatable! I love that the author is a Canadian too. I was exactly like Reagan growing up (except drama classes). If you’re looking for a cute contemporary, this is it! Thank you Netgalley for this free ebook copy.

Reagan is one of four identical quadruplets and much to all four sisters' dismay, they are moving back to the small town they were born in just in time for the start of their Sophomore year of high school. Along with her sisters, Riley, Reece, and Rhiannon, Reagan needs to find a way to adjust to life in a small town where everyone remembers their birth making headlines and classmates can recite their birth order off the tops of their heads. As they all find their new normal, each at their own pace, Reagan seeks out a new social circle, and maybe even her first boyfriend.

This book has a lot of good things going for it! It's got a very Kasie West vibe in that it is a fun story of a high school girl whose social life is in flux, but who has something else to deal with as well (in this case, it's her family's adjustment to their new home and school). I really liked the premise of this book and I love stories about sisterhood. I think that the kind of camaraderie and push/pull relationships between the sisters are pretty well thought out and realistic.

But ultimately, I just found a lot of this book really underbaked. I had trouble distinguishing between Reece and Riley for a lot of the book, which I think happened just because of how quickly we were introduced to Reagan's sisters and how infrequently they seem to really speak or take action in the book. By the end of the novel, I had a pretty clear picture in my mind of each sister and I knew the distinctions but I do wish that Bean had spend a little bit more time character building. I know that Bean is planning on continuing to write about these sisters and I will be interested to see how she develops the two sisters who got less attention in this particular book.

This was a very short book, I believe around 200 pages. I thought that the pacing was pretty good. It really did feel like the story kept moving along pretty swiftly and smoothly which is a really good thing! However, I do think that there were just a few things that could have really improved my reading experience. The length of the book made it just an easy, short read but it also presented a problem because there really wasn't enough room in the book for the development of any secondary characters (like Reagan's new friends, Kent, and her parents) all of whom I would have liked to know more about. And this is not a huge deal to me, but I definitely did find a few places with some glaring typos and since I know that this book was already released on August 7th, I do just hope that the version that I got was not the final version being sold on Amazon, given the simple grammar and spelling mistakes I found.

All in all, I will take a look at the second book about these sisters but I definitely don't want to commit to reading the second book after this first one. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but I will just have to look at the second book when it comes out and decide whether my interest has held up and whether it will be worth it for me to continue. I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars, though if I'm honest, I think I might have to revisit it in the future and possibly bump it down to a 2 out of 5 stars. that depends on how the book holds up in my mind and whether I manage to remember the characters and stories well enough to go on to the second book.

Note: some of my reviews contain spoilers!

** I was given access to an e-book version of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. **

Four of a Kind had a decent pace, a lively cast of characters, and an overall relatable main character to anyone who felt (or feels) like a misfit in high school. Although at times I was frustrated with Reagan's choices (although I definitely had my fair share of embarrassing moments in high school, I NEVER would have dropped a class on the first day just because the teacher picked on me) overall I felt that she presented a fun and drama-filled character to follow through her many plights. I do wish the book had been a bit longer than it's brief 200 pages, so we could have had more time to get to know the secondary characters (at times her three sisters blent together a little for me). Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read, and I would recommend it to anyone (especially teens) looking for a beach read or a palate-cleanser.

Kind of an average teen contemporary school story with a hint of romance. Not a lot of tension to the story so my interest waning in the middle of the story. As an introvert, I felt sad for Reagan, but that's about as far as my emotions for the story went.
The book needs an edit. I had to re-read a couple of sentences due to typos. There were also things like blond (masculine) and blonde (feminine) used interchangeable for the one character in the same chapter. On a single page, both die and dye were used for hair colour.
The last few chapters felt like I was meant to know what the sisters were up to, almost like this wasn't written as book 1.
So an ok story, but I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Not a complete mess, but the entire book just screamed 'NO ONE EDITED ME!'. There were grammar, punctuation and syntax errors throughout, as well as just awkward writing in both narration and dialogue.

And don't forget that she kept switching between the spelling Riley and Reilly (sometimes on the same page!) so much that one might question if there's a secret fifth sister.

Overall just amateurish.

I enjoyed this book in the beginning but found that it became pretty predictable as I was nearing the end.

An OK read but nothing overly original.

In the kindle version there were a lot of typos and grammatical issues too which didn't help.

Sweet story

Cute storyline. Could have been more developed, but I enjoyed it! Was sad to see it end without much closure.
Needs some editing!
