Well.... Lex has met his match...
I'm surprised how much I liked it compared to James's story..
It's like a double edged source, I like that it's a rather short, a quick read yet I wish it were a little longer. Looking forward to the next book.

I have read all but, one of Shayne Fords books and I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt this is hands down my favorite and I can't wait to see where the rest of Lex and Dahlias story go. I've been waiting for Lexs story ever since I read the series James and even though this is a complete standalone I recommend starting with book 1, James and Rains story to get the full effect of these characters cause they way they intertwine with each other.

Dahlia is first introduced to Lex when she's interviewing for a temp job as his assistant and against his better judgment he gives her the job, he's extremely professional and barely even notices his meek assistant until his best friend Ed kinda plays dress up with her to grab his attention and it works. Little by little he starts to notice her and becomes very protective of her. He's not sure he wants her but, knows he doesn't want anyone else to take advantage of the women he thinks is a fragile bird.

I absolutely loved Dahlia!! She was a walking contradiction, during the day she was the mousy assistant but, at night turned into a sexy vixen. She was clueless to the fact that men wanted her. And without even knowing how she slowly snared the unattainable Lex. She was 2 people to him, totally opposite and he wanted both not realizing they are one in the same.

This story was a slow burn between these two, all about the build up and I am on pins and needles waiting for book 2 to see the continuation and where these characters will go. And what will happen when all is exposed to Lex. There's so much depth between both and so much story left to tell I can't wait!!!

I loved Lex’s book! Dahlia is perfect for Lex. She is his sectary and the private dancer. Lex doesn’t know its Dahlia dancing for him. I wish it was a little longer. Ed stop picking on Lex.

Loved it!!!

How could you do that again to me Shayne?? I again finished this Lex series, like James series, in 6 days (including 2 days of being busy with some festival in India).

I enjoyed the macho man Lex and the Cute and sexy Dahlia. Initially I though this is gonna be a boss and secretary romance but hell No. This was a total different Boss and Lap dancer Secretary. Hot scenes were really hot and enjoyed thoroughly ;P. Glad to have a glimpse of James and Rain and to see their HEA tail.

Briefly, fantastic story line, binding romantic tale with a spice of hot kinky side of the characters. Book ends at a turn and I was again tempted to start the next book before reviewing this one. So M reviewing this book actually after reading all 3 books.

Wow ! Just Wow ! Shayne Ford's got a way with words about the men in her books, making them so out of the world, so sexy, so drool-worthy, so alluring..

The silver blue tie makes his eyes spark like gemstones. His sandy blonde hair is all brushed back, only a couple of of stray bangs brushing his cheekbones. His clean shaven skin glows. My gaze slides down, sweeping his hard,broad chest that fills his crisp, white shirt perfectly.



This one was a short story but it had a lot going on in it. So, of course we've met Lex in James's book and of course we've also already fallen in love with him.. And this books does nothing to dull it, if not already making him more sexy..



I loved Lex and Dahlia chemistry, I did.. but man.. this was so easy !! And that felt a little disappointing to me.. She's naive and he's corrupt..she's hot but yet innocent and he's sexy and so so bad.. I just want to see a bad boy falling for a bad girl.. or someone who is not so easy.. Dahlia would have bowed down to Lex, at the flick of his wrist on the first day itself if he had wished it so.

The lap dance scenes were so scorching.. But then again, it all made the picture so cliche. So, she is sweet and naive at day but she wants to try out her bad girl side at night ?? And how is the coincidence that she Lex has to be in the same club, same time ?? Seriously ? Too easy ! And that I believe is the only complaint I had.. Everything was too easy..

I am looking forward to see how their story progresses..

And Ed.. oh my god ! This man is adorable ! I sincerely hope atleast he falls for a bad girl..All bad King men fall for sweet, naive ladies.. and I want to see a change in that..

Lex and Dahlia's story begins!

I really enjoyed Lex in James' story and was excited to read a whole book about him. Lex is smart and calculated and kind. I really enjoy his personality and the way he interacts with Dahlia and his friends. Dahlia was relatable, college graduate, looking for a job, in debt, limited experience. I really likes that she is more normal and how she gets overwhelmed by Lex so easily. The story is more of a slow burn, but it makes me even more excited for book 2. The book was teasing, fun, and does a good job of wetting your appetite!

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Amazing start to the next trilogy of another "King!" Completely fell for Lex during James' story arc & completely fangirled after finding out the others were getting a story as well. Fair warning that this does end in a cliffhanger & it's even better if you've read James' trio! Onto the next King, Alexander "Lex" Harrington & the woman that has captured his attention, Dahlia. What starts out as a purely business relationship between Boss & assistant, unknowingly starts blossoming into something that can't be denied. Dahlia is definitely one to watch out for as she's mainly a shy, reserved hardworking type but starts moonlighting as a sex vixen when her sister comes to her for help. Enter Lex & his business associates who are at the same club Dahlia starts secretly working for & she captures his attention through her sultry dancing. This story definitely starts out as a slow burn with a bit of the crush on boss mix, as Lex is still hung up on Rain & James' happiness & not really giving anybody the time of day, while putting up with Ed's antics. Definitely can't wait to start the next part of Lex & Dahlia, especially with how this cliffy ended! Would absolutely recommend! :D

Did you read the first three books of Night of the Kings? Remember Alexander Harrington, Lex for short, one of James' business partners and best friend? He fell in love with Rain, James'girl, knowing she could never be his. Having spent so much time with her and seeing her and James together makes him long for something he's missing. His secretary is going on medical leave for a small proceedure but will be gone for weeks, leaving the need for a temporary replacement. Enter Dahlia. She has all the necessary education and degree but only being 21, she lacks work experience. Dahlia is his secretary's first choice but Lex has his doubts. Shayne always has the inate ability of taking characters in her books and combining them with realistic situations that are woven with the angst of romance and love. You can not read one of her books without exploring those emotions. Never a disappointment, Shayne Ford has another 5 star book in this one.

Oh Shayne Ford I felt every bit of this novel with Lex and Dahlia. Wow Lex certainly makes me soft inside never mind Dahlia. Your prose is wonderful, it makes you feel everything that you intend for the characters. Maybe I should take up lap dancing, I was squirming in my seat the whole time of your description of Dahlia's lap dance with Lex. Your novels just get better and better. I thought James would have been my favourite character in the Night of the Kings znovels but now I know it is Lex that has to be my favourite.

A great start to Lex and Dahlia's story and continuation to the Night of the Kings series. This is the fourth story into the series. Love the storyline and characters. So far this has been a well-written series. Once I start reading these I have a hard time putting it down. Finished in one day. Story does end in a cliffhanger. Can't wait to read the next two parts of this series. Excellent beginning to a love story with a little mystery mixed in. Like who is Dahlia's sister's mystery guy.

After finishing James’ story, I couldn’t wait for Lex’s. He was by far my favorite. A man trapped between bad and good, Lex was intriguing from the beginning. Different from him brothers, he’s a man who loves an innocent girl, but also wants her bad. Dahlia is just that. Although I don’t like how transparent she is in the office with him. She does surprise me in her alter ego. The first book, Lex is torn between the two woman, not knowing that they are one in the same. I can’t imagine him taking this deceit very well. I can’t wait for the second book.

This is the fourth book in the series that follows three hot sexy billionaires. The last three were focused on James, this time it’s Lex’s turn. What a story of innuendo and double entendres if ever there was one, as two people play cat and mouse with each other with sexual teasing. But, oh my, the reader gets to discover what a mess they get into, and then left hanging for book 5. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Such a good series so far! Super short books, so far most have been under 200 pages. Each one ends in a cliff hanger so forget about getting anything done once you start, you will want to know what happens in the next book!

I fell in love with Lex's character while reading the James trilogy, reading his own tale and story is awesome. The story is witty, hilariously funny in parts and steamy and sizzling in others.
I couldn't wait to read it when I heard that Lex's story was going to be published.
I finished it off in 2 hours flat!

...aaannnd onto the next sexy-as-sin male in the Night of the Kings series…things are certainly steamy & heating up fast!

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Lex: A Night of the Kings Novel, Book #4, the first of Lex's story, written by Shayne Ford and voluntarily reviewed this book. The series now focuses on the second of the trio of bad boys, Lex Harrington, now that James has met his “happily ever after” with Rain. Except that Lex just can’t seem to move on from the “experience” of Rain. It is clear to those closest to him that he has something to work out, and how he does it is by throwing himself into his work, a concept that the third of their group, Ed, can’t seem to grasp. Lex’s whole world soon starts shifting, starting with his interviews of candidates for a replacement for his executive assistant. As soon as Dahlia Fox walks in, Lex can read her like a book. She is fresh out of college, graduated at the top of her class, but with zero experience for the position outlined in her resume. Dahlia is gorgeous and desperation is clearly visible in her eyes, but he has to deliberate. Luckily for Dahlia, the decision is not up to him but his trusted assistant. The next thing he knows, he is confronted with Dahlia every day in his workspace, and he can’t seem to keep his eyes and mind off her. 

Dahlia is so stuck for money that she takes her best friend up on her offer to interview with the CEO at her firm, and it wasn’t until she gets the actual offer that she can breathe. But this position, although well paid, is only temporary, so when her long-lost little sister comes crashing back into her life and entices her with a well-paying position dancing for an exclusive club, Dahlia reluctantly agrees. This is Lex's first book in his series in the Night of the Kings! Hubba, hubba!!! If you haven't finished the first three in the series about James, please do so!!

This picks up with Lex trying to figure out his own life and feelings and what will make him happy. He acknowledges his feelings for Rain as nothing more than wrong place, wrong time, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. He is driven to work and he takes care of his needs as they arise. When his secretary takes time off, her replacement is supposed to fill her shoes without question. He doesn't want to babysit someone while she is gone for three weeks.

Dahlia has a friend that works for Lex's company, she gets Dahlia to apply for the temp job and Lex's secretary wants her to be her replacement. Dahlia's final interview is with Lex himself. While she has a college degree, she is socially awkward and doesn't have any working experience, yet. Lex gives off the impression that he will not be hiring her, but Dahlia receives a call that she has the position and it starts on Monday. Lex is completely professional and barely notices or pays attention to Dahlia, or so she thinks, until Ed asks for a favor and pulls her hair out of the ponytail to whisper in Lex's ear. Soon, Dahlia can tell Lex is more and more drawn to her and teases her all of the time. And he wants to protect her at all times. Dahlia soon takes another job based on her sister's recommendation, where she meets Lex on a more personal level. She is the vixen no one has ever seen. But after both of the professional and personal encounters, can Dahlia get any work done or just stare at him all day? Will Lex figure out who she is?

This is a cliff hanger, but one you will love and can't wait to read Hard Lex next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Lex is book #4 in Shayne Ford's NIGHT OF THE KINGS series. It is the first book in Lex's three book storyline arc. You could totally read the Lex books separately. However, I feel you will miss out on the full picture and cheat yourself out of the deep insight you will have if you start at the beginning with James NIGHT OF THE KINGS book #1. In the end it's up to you.

This book begins the story of Lex and Dahlia. Fans of Shayne Ford will know that she is an expert at creating complex and layered characters and storylines. This book starts an attraction and slow simmering passion between Lex and Dahlia. It is at times funny, charming, sexy, hot, sweet and an emotional ride. There are lies, secrets, hard questions and harder decisions that will be revealed and have to be dealt with.

If you are looking for books that are emotional, intense and at times harshly realistic, you can end your search here. Ms. Ford delivers. Her books engage all of your emotions. These are not fairytale romances. The details are not always pretty, the pain and heartbreak are often epic. Mistakes are made and the fallout is catastrophic. But, if we hold on and have faith, Ms. Ford delivers us to the ending that are beloved characters have worked for and suffered through to earn . I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

I absolutely loved this book. This book was a perfect way to start Lex's story. it's sexy with some suspense and mystery which kept me captivated from the first page. I couldn't put it down. It does have some spoilers from the James books. I started to fall in love with Lex on those first three books and now I can't wait to read more. As there are three books for Lex it does end in a cliffhanger which will keep you wanting more.

OMG!!! Lex's story was well worth the wait! This sweet, sexy, complex man has met a lady that mirrors him. The only complaint I have is that the first book didn't last nearly long enough. Lex Has Met His Match (x2)

In this first volume of Lex's trilogy, and volume 4 of the series, Lex hires Dahlia to temporarily replace his P.A. while she takes some time off for an unspecified surgical procedure. Dahlia is a recent college graduate, with no work experience, who is very innocent and docile. She develops a serious crush on Lex while working for him. Although not strongly attracted to Dahlia at first, Lex becomes moreso the longer Dahlia works for him. The only problem is that he has also developed a strong attraction toward a new exotic dancer he meets at Silver, an establishment he regularly visits with Ed on Friday nights. What Lex doesn't realize is that this dancer and Dahlia are the same person. (Dahlia is masked and carries herself very differently when there.) Dahlia took on the second job to make some extra money after her younger sister, Elsa, who had previously worked there, comes to live with her. Elsa is hiding from her former boyfriend and believes she may be pregnant.

Lex is still bemoaning the unrequited feelings he has for Rain, James' fiance, and fate's fickle finger that kept her from him. He is also becoming tired of the revolving bevy of women and unemotional sexual connections he'd previously enjoyed, especially after seeing how significantly the emotional, intimate relationship between James and Rain has affected James.

Although this story is technically a standalone, I would strongly recommend that the series be read in the order it was written, and read James and Rain's trilogy before beginning this one. There is a substantial background story to learn and the characters are all really only fully developed by knowing their prior history and seeing their personalities progress and mature.

Not sure how this will play out once Lex makes the connection between Dahlia and the dancer, but I'm sure it's going to be quite the ride. So glad I can just download the next volume now and read this through without waiting.
