This series by Gilbert Morris is one of my absolute favorites. Each book follows at least one member of a generation in the Winslow family tree and the member(s) gets saved and finds true love. There's also some commentary on the social conditions of the time frame. Truly interesting.

Incredible series!!! Seamless continuation of the Winslow family from book to book as each generation takes you further through American history. Highly recommended IF you start the series at the beginning & read them in order. Unfortunately the books are hard to find, but you can find them used on Amazon.

All the Winslow books are gonna get similar reviews from me: all predictable, all have similar characters, and a good Christian message.
But this book I found really exciting, definitely more so than the other books in the series I've read so far. My favourite character was Jeanne.

Sequel to "Dixie Widow", the story setting is still in the Civil War era but out west in a gold rush city. Very entertaining.

I love historical fiction and this series is a good series to read. The characters always seem to have a struggles and wrestle with faith. Some take heart and turn to God and some do not. I like the fact that not everyone finds their salvation as that reflects real like and the struggles people go through. This one is set in the far west during the Civil War. It focuses on the gold rush and the problems such bonanzas brought to towns. In the end the good guys win but trouble is luring just around the corner.

This was an interesting departure from the usual thread of following the generations of the two lines of the Winslows. Zach Winslow is brought to life with little explanation of his parents or anything related to the Winslow family. It seems like he is alone in the world with no connection to family. He spent one year in the Union army and then headed west. The war was not over yet but the gold rush was beginning which brought about chaos and lawlessness. Interest book.

In The Wounded Yankee, Gilbert Morris gets back to more of a page-turning plot. This book was probably the best book since volume 6 or 7. To the very last page the protagonist’s story could take a couple different twists. Mr. Morris didn’t telegraph his plot as much in this volume, and I enjoyed it a great deal. The Old West, the Gold Rush, crime syndicate, and vigilante justice all fill the pages of this tale. Pleasant and engaging story.

I went an entire week not reading, then sometimes read only a few pages before falling asleep. At times I forgot how the story started. This book takes the reader on a great adventure - across the country. Things go the opposite of what he has planned. Let's say never a dull moment! Brings in the gold rush days and some of the old wild west. Fascinating book!

5 - This book had too much killing in it - people were getting killed when others were stealing their gold and then those that stole were getting hanged. Something to ponder about being a hermit though - we all need people around us. Liked at the end how Zack was able to reconcile his life and find Jesus Christ and the peace he was searching for. Went down to the last page for things to work out with Bron though.
