Still finding this series fun and easy to read. I enjoy the humor and camaraderie between characters.

I got an ARC of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review :) since this is the sequel in a spin-off series, I feel like you need a bit of an explanation when exactly you can read this novella :) I definitely recommend you to read the original series The chronicles of Erla first :) those stories are set in a fantasy world, with different kingdoms and queendoms, where men or women are more dominant sexes... and even though each installment revolves around a different woman who got transported into that world through a transdimensional rift, the further you get into them, the more and more connected they are with each other... we see time and time again the same secondary characters, plus the people from previous stories appear, not to mention that there is a bigger story arch going on :) so yeah... you need to read the series to understand all the rules and connections / relationships between certain characters :) but after that series ended, there were still a few characters that deserved a happy ending... so here's where the spin-off series comes in :) Portal's gift consists of novellas about people we met before :) BUT you don't need to read the first novella in this series to enjoy this one :) ok, now that you have some basic informations, let me jump into my thoughts and feelings about this particular story... mind you, since it's a novella and I want to avoid any spoilers whatsoever, even if you are new to this series / world, it will be a bit on the shorter side :)
We met Gareth before :) he was mentioned, and played rather important part, several times in the past... as with the other heroes in this spin-off series, I was glad to finally see a happy ending for him :) it was a very cute novella, a great addition to this series, and this world in general :) additionally, there is a short story at the end of it about yet another character, Myles :) so that's always a fun bonus :) I am struggling so hard to tell you anything more about these stories, because since they are so short, I really don't want to spoil any details :) so I will say that, as usually, I had so much fun reading them :) Kat Brewer has a very entertaining writing style, and even though I would like to read more about these characters, to see them come togehter over the span of more pages, I gave this one 4,5 stars :) I highly recommend you guys to check out this lovely author and her work, if you haven't already :) she has the great ability to create strong female characters... they are all warriors, in different meaning of this word... ;) they are always brave, strong and fight for what's right... even if it's hard :) definitely check these gems :)
