What the mind forgets, the heart remembers.

Alone in a train station bathroom, Sophia Hernandez has no memory of who she is or how she got there. All she’s certain of are three things: her college ID is a lie, bad people are coming for her, and no one can be trusted.

The only clue to her past is the fellow student who finds her. Although Sophia’s gut tells her Kyle is lying when he claims he can’t help her, his touch makes her heart race. Is it because of a red-hot natural attraction, or a missing memory of something far more dangerous?

As two mysterious, menacing men chase them from the station, Sophia’s memories return in frustrating fragments. So do deadly skills she didn’t know she had. In the next forty-eight hours, a loved one’s life will be on the line as she sifts through a mounting tangle of secrets and lies.

Including the most heart-wrenching secret of all. Not only isn’t she a normal college student, she isn’t even a normal human.

Warning: Contains one girl who is more than she seems, one boy who knows more than he’s telling, and enough twists to give you whiplash. Expect explosions of all kinds.

A great combo of suspense and action.
The Good
I think I needed that. I needed my blood pumping and brain tingling from all the conspiracy goodness.

We don't know who Sophia is for sure, and neither does she. We are in the dark together. We get to discover everything as she does, and it's one twisted tale.

Expect a lot of twists and turns. Sophia's narration made this a fun read from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment. And each character made the story that much more interesting. Kyle, with his sweet, caring demeanor but obvious secrets. Fitzpatrick, and her extreme bitchiness on all levels. Sophia's friends were all pretty amazing too.

I am so happy I got a chance to read Revive. It covered a lot of genres from suspense, thriller, and sci-fi. We also get an assassin vibe with a hint of government corruption.
The Bad
I wish there was more chase scenes. I feel like they ended too soon, and they were the best part!

The jumping back and forth between past and present got on my nerves. It made sense for the story but I can't help how I felt.
The Snuggly
There is a bit of a love-triangle, but it didn't bother me. This wasn't about the romance, which was good. But it was there to keep things interesting.

Mostly kissing and stuff, fine for NA or YA.
Final Thoughts
Just a few complaints but overall, an amazing read. I really enjoyed myself the whole time. Very recommended.

Quotes
“A good spy is constantly observing. They know their surroundings. Your surroundings are your camouflage and your arsenal.”

It’s a woman’s voice I hear in my head, but not the same one as before. That voice was young and makes me feel happy. This voice is deep and harsh. It makes my muscles tense. I don’t know who the speaker is, but the advice sounds like something I’ve heard a million times.

Well, four hundred and seventy-one times to be specific. Whatever. How do I know that?

Revive starts off at a train station where we meet Sophia who has no recollection of who she is and why she's even at a train station. And immediately the action starts in this fast paced, thrill of a book! Sophia recovers pieces of her memory and as she does we get every twist and turn imaginable. You'll have the pages turning so fast before you know it you're done.

I loved Revived! It was a truly fun read and highly entertaining. I felt the way you feel when you binge watch an insanely good show on Netflix. Revive brings out all the feels a romance, action packed, mystery book can bring. The characters were so cool and awesome. I loved each of them for different reasons. No one got lost in the mix for me. They were each unique in their own way and I couldn't find a flaw.

Though Sophia did annoy me at the start of the book, because she repeats herself so much, I grew to love her and appreciate her as I did Tracey Martin's writing style. A+

I can't say too much without spoiling it, but read the summary and believe every word of when they say "enough twists to give you whiplash." IT WILL TOTALLY GIVE YOU WHIPLASH. Revive keeps you guessing til the very end and who doesn't love that in a book!? Seriously, I had my theories during reading but when the truths come out I loved being wrong about said theories.

It was about time I dove into another great series! The only downside? Playing the waiting to game til the next installment is available! LOL. Revive was incredibly enjoyable and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series!

New Adult is a genre that needs more diversity in terms of the stories. Most of the books tend to be angsty contemporary romances. Just the other day, I was talking to my friend Nereyda and was lamenting the fact there weren't any unique NA books lately. Which is why I'm so glad to see books like Revive popping up in the genre.

Revive was a book that I was excited about reading. I have a thing for books with amnesia even though more often than not, they confuse. Revive started off with a bang. From the very beginning, I was engrossed in the mystery because it's the kind of start that hooks readers in. And the book never lost it its momentum. It continued to be action-packed throughout the entirety. There were multiple twists and turns that had me gasping because I didn't see them coming. The one thing that I have a gripe with in Revive were the flashbacks. Most of the book is told through flashbacks and changes in time line and that threw me off quite a bit, and I wound up being confused a few times. Regardless, once I was in the groove, there was no stopping me from reading. The sci-fi elements in Revive were also interesting, especially the idea of genetically engineered mutants. The main character, Sophia, wasn't one I instantly connected with. It was hard for me to bond with her because she was going through a seriously rough phase. The more we got to know about her, the better I related to her. Sophia was a badass character and I liked that she wasn't the stereotypical NA heroine. Her love interest, Kyle, was also a really sweet guy. Despite all the secrets and mystery surrounding him, I easily fell in love with him. He was the sort of guy who was a gentleman and was just plain loveable. I did wish the secondary characters were a bit more fleshed out, but I'm hoping that will happen in the next book.

All in all, Revive was a great start to this new and original sci-fi NA series. I'm certainly looking forward to being back with Sophia and finding out what's going on with Kyle.

Revive might feel a little familiar to long-time science fiction readers, but Tracey Martin executed the story in such an exciting way that I definitely feel it was a worthwhile read. It's really hard to review this book because it works best if you go in knowing very little about it, but I'm going to try to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

Revive begins with Sophia Hernandez in the bathroom of a train station. She doesn't know where she is, what's she's doing, who she's with, or even who she is. She tries searching through the backpack she is wearing for clues, but finds very little of importance. All she can do is venture out into the train station and hope she remembers something. She has a feeling of dread, like something bad is after her, but she can't remember why. When Kyle, apparently her friend and fellow student, finally finds her, Sophia begins to remember small details and realizes she is on the run... but from whom or why, she still can't remember. All she knows is that she has a little voice in her head screaming for her to run and to never trust anyone. Her heart tells her Kyle is sincere though... shouldn't she trust him?

The back copy for Revive kind of ruins one of the big secrets from the book -- that Sophia isn't a normal human -- but as she begins to get her memories back, we start to see just how different Sophia really is. Outwardly, Sophia is a smart, attractive young woman who seems to have an innate fighting ability. We learn her secrets at the same time Sophia does as her memory comes back in disjointed pieces. We learn about her recent experiences as a college student, her relationship with Kyle, and her past upbringing and just why she has a "certain set of skills." We also move forward in the current timeline to see how all the events play out from the train station onward. The time shifts could be a little confusing from time to time, but were used well overall.

The book begins as more of a spy thriller with secrets and lies and espionage coming fast and furious. Not only are we learning about the mystery of Sophia, we are also learning just why she was at that college and why she met Kyle. Like I said, lots of mysteries and spy stuff. As we transition into the current timeline, the book shifts into a more concrete science fiction focus. This is not what I would call hard SF, but there are a lot of cybertech and bioengineering elements running throughout. Here we meet more characters that have an influence on Sophia's life and we finally learn all the truths regarding who she is and why Kyle is important. The final act of Revive morphs into an action-packed escape and we have explosions and fighting and hacking galore. Everything flows very well together, though, and you always know you are reading the same book. The hints to the overall plot are buried throughout and sometimes you will read one scene that makes you realize why it was important to have read a previous scene. Nothing goes to waste.

I enjoyed the characters of Kyle and Sophia, but I am really interested to learn more about some of the side characters. Not naming any names, but we do go on to find out Sophia has a family of sorts and I am really intrigued by a few of her siblings. Because of the pace of the book, several characters are introduced but there just isn't time to fully flesh them out. I am hoping that future books in the series give Ms. Martin more time to create distinct characters voices. I would have liked to learn a little bit more about Kyle's background as well, but I feel like that will be addressed in the next book. Revive had an almost daunting amount to tackle in terms of setting up the world, explaining Sophia's place in it, and then tearing everything down, but it never felt rushed. The pacing was pretty spot on actually, with just a few instances where I felt the scenes dragged somewhat.

Revive was a very solid series debut and I am eager to see where the story goes from here. While I wouldn't say this ends on a cliffhanger, it definitely leaves open multiple possibilities. While Revive's characters fit pretty comfortably in the "new adult" age range, I think the content was appropriate for middle school readers and beyond; I recommend it for YA readers in general. The language and romance were pretty clean, but there were some (very intriguing) conspiracy elements that might be harder for younger readers to follow. Overall though, an exciting, fast-paced read!

“Bad people are coming. They will destroy me.” Loc 1111

Revive is set in a futuristic world where genetic modifications are possible and there is talk of traveling to Mars and Space Bases. Most of the time the world was very basic and didn’t seem much different from now but every now and then there would be some description that indicated its set at a different time.

I found Revive a little predictable. From the very beginning, when Sophia stumbles out of the bathrooms at a train station unable to remember anything about herself, I kind of had an idea of where the plot was going to go. But that didn’t detract in anyway from me thoroughly enjoying every minute of this book!

I really liked Sophia, she was a strong main character. She had all these instinctive reactions to things and instead of ignoring her gut, like many other irritating heroine’s, she followed it, with some funny and exciting consequences. I liked the way she, like us, knew nothing and had to slowly piece together her whole life in interesting flashbacks. The flashbacks weren’t overused and the past and present were balanced well, because I didn’t find myself getting irritated by the switching back and forth, (like i sometimes do).

The love interests (yes plural I’m afraid) were a little flat in places. I think this was because the story was heavily focused on Sophia, but I can see the point of both Male interests and I can see them both playing a major role in the next book. So fingers crossed we’ll get more in depth details about both of them. I loved the dynamic of her unit and the way they had numbers for names but also secret names that they had chosen for each other. I laughed so much at their nickname for their teacher ‘Bitchpatrick’ because I remember having similar names for our teachers. I’m just glad they were nothing like Fitzpatrick.

I can’t wait to see what will happen in book two. I’m still not completely sure I trust Cole. There’s just something about him that screams brainwashed.

I really enjoyed this as it was quick and fast paced. A great start to a new series. This would be good for anyone that likes CIA stuff or more importantly if they loved the TV series ALIAS, as this is just like that! (Revive reminded me so much of the first few episodes of Season 3!)

As soon as I read about this book, I bought it and immersed myself in this futuristic world-although the year is never told. I am not usually a fan of books like this, but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.

Sophia wakes up in a bathroom in a Boston train station, not knowing who she is or why she is there. To make matters even more interesting, she is aware that the college student ID with her picture on it that she is carrying, has the wrong name. Her other realization is that the “bad people” were coming. No other memories than that.

What follows in this book is a fast paced almost thriller type of a story, relieved only by the main characters memories coming back to her in fits and starts. The reader goes back and forth in time with Sophia, and gets a picture of what her life was like in college. We are just as clueless as Sophia is, as we go along for the ride with her and find out what is happening at the same time that she does. It’s told in the first person which was perfect for this type of story.

Due to spoilers, and since it is quite the mystery, I can’t really say that much about the actual story without ruining the read for people. I will say that there are some really good characters. Sophia is brilliant, strong, and just wants to do the right thing. Kyle, is Sophia’s friend from college, or maybe more? Of course he’s the hot guy with the shaggy blonde hair and sweet charm for days. There’s good guys and bad guys in this story and it’s up to Sophia to figure out which is which before she gets killed or loses her memory forever. The why to everything is also on Sophia’s agenda, and Sophia IS the bad guys main agenda.

This is the first book in this series, there is a sort of love triangle that happens, and I would consider it young adult. However, that could change as the series goes on, as these characters are people over the age of eighteen. There’s some surprises to be had, although I had figured out a lot of what was going on well before the main character. And that was okay with me-this time.

I found this book to be a good read, and I had a fun time reading it. Not that it was a comedy, because believe me, it’s not, but because of all the action, mystery, and good characters involved. I thought it was really different than the usual stories I read, although I don’t read that many futuristic/science fiction books as a rule. I definitely liked it enough to want to read the next one when it comes out. There’s not exactly(but kind of)a cliffhanger, and most readers are going to want to read the next one because there is still so much to discover. Recommended to both young adults and adults that enjoy a mystery, and plenty of action with futuristic science fiction aspects. (RabidReads.com)

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

4.5 stars

It's been a while since a book really gripped me and made me stay up until 1am finishing it. And it's been a while since I finished a book and immediately looked up when the next one would be available. And read a sneak peak of the first chapter, cursing when that was gone. All the above is true with Revive. It was just that good. So glad I grabbed it from NetGalley.

So why was Revive so good? For one, I think it was because it was a little different from my typical reads and I needed a change. I can best describe it as a New Adult, Sci-fi, Suspense. Yeah - not your typical combination, huh? Those of you shutting down at the mention of New Adult, wait! I only say New Adult because the characters are the right age and a good part takes place in their college lives. That's really the only thing about it New Adult. The Sci-fi bit would be spoilery to explain and still, not the main bit.

The main bit was the suspense. In the first chapter our main character is in a public restroom, certain that she is not the person her college ID says she is. Her memories are gone, but in a very Bourne Identity flair, her muscle memory is working just fine. So the chase and action are on, all while she tries to figure out who she is, why she's being chased, and why she's so certain she's in danger.

Revive is told partly in the present and partly in the past as our main character recovers those memories. I was constantly on my toes trying to figure out what was going on and who to trust. The twists don't stop coming and the last 40% was a non-stop read for me. One element I guessed correctly pretty early on, which is probably the only reason this isn't quite 5 stars for me. But it's pretty damn close!

Although a plot driven story, the character development in Revive was slipped in really well - character flaws, doubts, and love interests completed the story and brought it to the next level. I really enjoyed Revive and I'm eagerly awaiting Resist, due in November! If you've read this please let me know, I need to talk about it to someone! Or if it sounds good, please hurry and read it!

4.5 stars I loved it

I have to say, this was the most unusual book I have ever read. While it captured my attention with the first few pages, I soon found I was frustrated, lost and confused through most of the story yet not willing to quit before I turned the last page because I NEEDED those answers. A book like this makes writing a review very difficult because there is so much to say, yet so little I can share without spoiling the story for the reader. There is something new and unpredictable in every chapter.
The author introduces you to a woman in the bathroom of a train station, with an injury on her head, personal belongings of a woman named Sophia and no memory of who she is. Her mind is filled with voices that tell her not to trust some people, to run when others appear and that Kyle is someone she can trust, but can she? As a reader you won’t have the privilege of knowing what is going on because of the writing style. I could not only sympathize with Sophia, I could feel her confusion because the author left us in the dark, uncovering hints and finding puzzle pieces along with the characters.
You won’t be limited on action and chases, mystery and an out of this world experience. We meet side characters that will remain a mystery to us just as they are with Sophia. I found I didn’t let my wall down with any of them for long because every time I thought I had it figured out, the author would pull the rug out from under me once again. I don’t think I have ever had such a realistic taste of what having no memory would feel like before this story.
Normally, for a book that left me as frustrated and confused as this one did, I would give it a low rating but I couldn’t do that with Revive. I realized once I had finished, there really wasn’t any other way for the author to give us this story, forcing us live it with Sophia, than to make us as lost as she was. In a world of the unrealistic, the author transported us into the emotions and frustrations that Sophia felt, leaving us no choice but to follow the journey with her. As aggravated as I was, I have to give the author a lot of credit for her talent in making the reader feel the story rather than just read it. No matter what genre you normally tend to read, I encourage everyone to give this book a try for the experience alone because I doubt you will come across a book as unique as this one is any time soon.

Imagine waking up and not knowing what has happened, almost like Amnesia but the bits that are coming back to you aren't familiar with your so-called everyday life. One of my favourite movies growing up that I tend to watch around my birthday is "The Long Kiss Goodnight" which stars Geena Davis and Sameul L Jackson. In this movie Geena Davis was an old secret undercover agent who was supposedly killed and then it is discovered that she was really suffering from amnesia and then halfway through the movie bits and bobs of her past start to come back and then by the time most of the details arrive back , she discovers people are after her. In Revive, all she knows is that she is supposedly a college student called Sophia and later that she was undercover trying to protect someone known as Student X from danger. Now with bits of memory loss, Sophia must race to discover and remember not only her past, but who Student X is to save him/her as well as herself. The time is ticking for Sophia as she must not only remember her past but remember the mission and stay on it in order to keep alive. If you love Spy Girl Novels and Undercover missions, then Revive by Tracey Anderson is the book for you in her new series RedZone

This was a very exciting and fun story, with a ton of twists and reveals. These elements, which made for a great read, make this book extremely hard to review. There are so many surprises which affect everything that happens after that point, that mentioning almost anything would be a spoiler.

The story is told with alternating present time events, and flashbacks as Sophia remembers things. It was never confusing, and lent to the mysterious feel of the story. It helped me connect with and understand Sophia as she never seemed to know anything that the reader didn’t. It made the flashbacks even more important.

Overall, I know this is a rather vague review, but anything more would have spoilers. There is so much excitement in the story, and how everything is revealed that I don’t want to spoil anything. I will say that this story is very exciting, and it will be interesting to see what happens next as events in the second book will be very different.

I picked this up because it sounded like it might be a YA version of The Bourne Identity. The entire first chapter was in that vein, but the rest of the book dealt with her memories resurfacing in increments. It lacked the sense of discovery Bourne had wherein the character followed clues about himself wherever they led. In this book, Sophia is quickly remembering more and more about herself and who she is.

I was not expecting the science fiction aspect to this story, and it certainly made this the most unique amnesia story I have ever read. The reader figures out what's going on well before Sophia does, but it was an engaging story. There were some good romantic scenes, and I wanted more. It ends on a high note, although there are more problems to resolve. The reader can choose to be satisfied with this ending or continue with the story in the next book.

I enjoyed how Sophia's observations about humanity could help one realize aspects of daily life that are often taken for granted and for which often don't hold gratitude. Beyond that, the action, the intrigue, and the sci fi all kept me highly entertained and wanting more.

It's often hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys in this science fiction new adult thriller. Sophia aka Seven is sent on a mission to find X. But her emotions overpower her training, causing her to doubt the mission ... and her entire existence.

Revive was a pretty interesting take on the dystopia and the sci-fi genre filled with action and suspense throughout the entire book. It was an awsome ride and I throughly enjoyed it.

Sophia Hernandez finds herself in the washroom of a train station, she doesn’t remember the reason why she is here or with whom. She can’t remember any facts about herself. When Kyle, apparently a fellow student and her friend finds her she begins to remember bits and pieces. But she's sure of one thing- bad people are coming and she has to escape no matter what but she doesn't remember who's her ally and who's her enemy. She knows one thing, Kyle's not entirely innocent as he is behaving but they have no time to argue as they run to save their lives. Sophia is confused, her heart tells she should believe him but can she trust Kyle or will that jeopardise her entire life?

Revive was action packed from the very beginning which I liked a lot. I was thrown into the chase as Sophia and Kyle ran for their lives. I like books dealing with amnesia and here it was pretty interesting to see how Sophia dealt with things when she couldn't remember things exactly how and what they were. The chapters in this book alternates with the present and the flashbacks of the past which sometimes threw me off track and it felt a bit of a drag on. The plot was kind of similar to other dystopian novels, I could understand from the beginning that who were actually the bad guys and same goes for the plot twist, it was pretty easy to guess what was coming. But nonetheless, I found the concept of genetically engineered mutants very interesting and how things functioned in RedZone, i.e. the secret organisation where Sophia and her unit were brought up or rather created.

Sophia was a kickass character, I liked how she worked depending on her instincts and didn't take a shit from anybody. Her unit was like her family, with whom she grew up with. (I soooo wish I could fight like her!) I liked her and Kyle together but I wanted to see more of them. I liked him, he was simple (apparently not) and sweet. And I liked the side characters as well, specially Sophia's team members. I'm looking forward to see more of them in the next book. And that was an awsome hell of a team work they did towards the end of this book. The last 30% was pretty intense and I was glued to my screen!

Overall, Revive was a pretty good start to a series. I can't wait to see what happens next and how they deal with it. Although the plot was similar like any other dystopian novel but I found the concept pretty interesting and the characters were awsome as well. The writing was smooth and easy to follow, although the continuous flashbacks bothered me a bit but the pace was fast throughout the book and I easily flew through the book. I'm pretty exited, can't wait to read the next installment!

Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours and author Tracey Martin for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!

Find this review and more on my blog The Rest Is Still Unwritten!

Revive by Tracey Martin is a mysterious and at times fast paced novel that will have you piecing the clues together and hankering to discover just who, and what, the heroine is.

Imagine waking up in a train station bathroom with who memory of who you are, how you’ve gotten there or how you’ve lived your life? This is the reality for Sophia Hernandez, a supposed college student who wakes up with no recollection of her life or who she is. All she knows if that Sophia isn’t her name, her life at college is a lie and there are nefarious people after her, only she doesn’t know how she knows these three important details. Armed with her wits, instincts and surprising ability to hold her own, Sophia sets out to determine who she is, and alongside Kyle, a cute and charming friend, begins to unravel just how she’s spent her last few weeks and why she feels like she’s been lying to everyone she knows……

Revive is one of those books that starts out extremely promising and while it doesn’t necessarily blow your mind, remains an enjoyable read. Tracey Martin kicks off Revive wonderfully and had me eager to discover just who Sophia was and what had happened to her. Over the course of the story however Revive lost me at a few times, and then managed to have me extremely interested at others.

Told through Sophia’s eyes, Revive switches back and forth throughout different periods of Sophia’s life in recent times as she begins to get certain memories back. This was a tad confusing at times and I felt like I needed to work to keep the timeline together in my mind upon occasion. Don’t get me wrong—I was thrilled to see memories return to Sophia and can understand why Martin reveals things the way she does, but that didn’t make it can less confusing at times.

I was impressed with the revelation of who and what Sophia was. I thought it was smart and interesting. When Sophia’s mission was eventually revealed I found myself eager to discover X’s identify although I do admit I had a fair idea who it was before they were eventually revealed so that wasn’t a big surprise.

Martin’s writing style was solid and I genuinely liked Sophia. She grew and became a better person thanks to her time searching for X and I think Martin has set the storyline up nicely for the next novel. To my understanding Revive will be a part of a series and I’m actually interested to see what Sophia, Kyle and the rest of her friends will do next now that they’d made their big escape.

Although Revive didn’t blow me away, it managed to keep me interested enough to follow the whole story and I do care about the characters. Worth a read for its mystery and unknown alone, I look forward to seeing where Tracey Martin takes this series next.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
I really enjoyed Tracey’s Misery series so was keen to see this new one. Its very different, set in a world that feels current but where science has come on in huge leaps. Time wise it alternates from present day to what Sophia recalls from up to twelve weeks past.
Sophia, her college ID tells her that’s her name, but she can’t remember anything else. Not who she is, where she’s been, nothing from her past. She feels in danger though, and knows instinctively how to do certain things, like how to defend herself and how to plan escape routes. It makes everything a real puzzle for her. She knows bad people are after her though that’s just an inner voice at first, doesn't remember why Kyle is with her and doesn’t know if he’s one of them...She’s still very attracted to him despite her memory loss, so wants to think he’s a good guy but just can’t recall anything. She’s got a couple of wounds on her head so assumes that’s what happened to make her lose her memory. Its very scary though – where does she go, who can she trust, and who are the bad guys after her?
I really enjoyed this book, it feels a little YA in style, but one of those that’s well written and suitable for older readers too ( thankfully as its a long long time since I was YA) It’s hard to write a review without giving things away, so I’ll just say I loved Sophia, found the plot complex, interesting and pretty scary in that it is something that with modern technology progress could be oh so real. Its one of those that poses lots of questions of morality and what’s acceptable, does the end justify the means or are there lines that shouldn’t be crossed under any circumstances?
I enjoyed the way it was set out, written from Sophia’s POV, and the past/present alternations. Sometimes I find them hard as I just get into one part and then we’re back in the past, then just as I’m into that it jumps forward. Not so here though, it flowed seamlessly. I liked the other characters too and learning about them, the ones from the school and those from the past she can’t remember. Each is there for a reason and they all feel very real. It ends well, suggesting where the next book will go, but not on an out and out cliff-hanger – and regular readers of my reviews will know how I hate those – really, really hate them, so this kind of ending, where some answers have been given, and a way forward for the future is hinted at works well for me. There’s a love triangle in the making too possibly, certainly the steam between Sophia and Kyle is there, but someone else is interested in her too. I’m never quite sure how I feel about those, often I'm rooting for one guy and then learn more about the second and just can’t make my mind up! I want a happy ending for both if they are decent men.
Stars:  Five, a fun read, not too complex and sets everything out really well, leaving me wanting to read more.

Though rated new adult this first book is really more a young adult set in college.

I requested this book because I enjoyed Martin's other series, Miss Misery (and the blurb promised that Sophia wasn't human.)

Sophia's voice sounds totally different from Martin's other main character. It always impresses me when an author can do that.

The good:

This was the kind of book that kept me reading looking for answers. It was also done right too. I got enough information not to feel strung along, but I was kept curious enough to keep turning pages.

The pacing alternates between exciting thriller and everyday college life and the time line bounces around as Sophia gets her memory back. (Sounds confusing, but it really wasn't.) It's set in the near future. Mostly our world, but there were few cool new inventions.

I liked Sophia in her flashbacks, but current her seemed ordinary and overly moral. (Okay so I might have skewed priorities, but there's a time for morals and a time to kick bad guy butt without feeling bad about it!)

The best part was the friends she grew up with! Not only were they colorful characters, but they had a great relationship! Sadly, they were barely in the book. I'm hoping they become main characters in the next one!

The Bad:

There's a love triangle of course. Between the guy she met at college (who she doesn't know if she can trust) and a guy she grew up with. (Who she's forbidden to be with.) I didn't like either one. I know Martin can do banter, so where was it?

The plot kept me guessing, but only because I kept over thinking things. I was promised lots of twists and turns, so I couldn't believe it would be so predictable! It was. Guess I read/watch too much SciFi.

My expectations were just too high. I hate it when I do that, because even when the book is good, (Like this one) I wind up disappointed.

Point of View: Third (Sophia)

Predictability: 5 out of 5 (Where 1 is totally unpredictable and 5 is I knew what was going to happen way ahead of time.)

Source: Netgalley

My Summary:

Sophia wakes up in a train station with no memory. Her ID says Sophia, but she knows that's not true. A boy named Kyle seems to know her, but then people show up who she knows are bad. Her instincts scream at her to run. She might have no memory but she has spy like training.

Then we back up twelve weeks to when Sophia started at RTC college. We learn she's undercover to find a certain student. Student X as she calls them is a mutant and if Sophia doesn't identify him or her, they will. They = mysterious enemies.

Revive...an action packed thriller about Sophia, a girl with some pretty amazing gifts like speed, agility, ability to compute things in her head that most would need a computer program to work out and some really serious fighting skills. I was able to obtain an early release copy via the wonderful NetGalley in exchange for a review. We meet Sophia as she is coming out of a stupor with a good chunk of her memory missing. She is in what appears to be some sort of mall with a food court and there are men chasing her but she does not know who they are or quite what they want. The reader is along for the ride as Sophia tries to remember her past, who she really is and what she is doing with a young man named Kyle in the mall. She is also injured and cannot recall how she has become injured.

As the story moves along we move back and forth between current day and the time just before Sophia arrives at her college. We learn who she is and why she is there along with Sophia as she starts to regain her memory. So much of this story revolves around this process that I don't want to give anything away but suffice it to say that there are some really great surprises along with some pretty good fight scenes. We are also introduced to Sophia's friends, both at home and at college. For the most part the ones at college seem pretty basic, but, the ones she grew up with help make this story such a great one. They each have their own strengths and gifts as well as quirks that make you like them. They are well developed and make the reader want to get to know them better. I am not sure how the other stories will flow in the Red Zone series, i.e., whether it will always follow Sophia's point-of-view. But, it looks like it will at least continue where Revive left off. I can say that I had a bit of trouble sometimes knowing when the book was looking into the past because in some spots we don't know she is remembering something as opposed to currently living it other than the passage seems out of time with what was previously occurring. Then the end of the passage helps the reader clue in on the fact that what was previously read was a memory and not what was currently happening. This occurred a few times in the book. The other thing is a "trope" that I am not a fan of and I will leave that for the other readers to find out because it is a large part of the development of the story. Sophia finds herself in a crowded restroom at the train station with a bleeding cut on her forehead and no idea of who she is. But she may not really be Sophia. As memories come trickling back in, Sophia’s instinct are telling her to run and trust no one. Sophia is part of something much bigger than what she is fully aware of and her time is running out.

The book dropped me right on my head in that bathroom stall with Sophia, with no idea as to what was happening or what to expect. I learned what was going on right with the character, getting a snippet here and there of a memory while at the same time being chased in the present. If you are looking for an action/thriller book, this would be the story for you because it was non-stop action. The best part of the book was trying to put together the pieces and solve the puzzle before the end. This review will be fairly short compared to most of my ramblings, but I don't want to spoil anything!

I liked how the story would transition from the present to some indistinguishable time in Sophia’s memories. It was a big jumbled mess but that added to the story. The one thing I would change about the skipping from past to present would be some indicator that there was a transition. Sometimes it would give you a time frame so the reader was aware of the change, but a few times it just went directly into the memory so I was a little lost at first. I thought the story was set in the now, but as the book progressed, I am pretty sure that the story is set sometime in the future based on the level of technology that is used. I enjoyed the pacing of the book as well as the disjointed quality, it kept me engaged and totally wrapped up in the book.
And, I love the fact that the main character is a well-developed,strong, independent female who could literally kick butt, build a bomb and experience the uncertainty of relationships.

I look forward to book 2 in the Redline series to see what will happen next to Sophia. She has a lot of hard choices in front of her and needs to make smart moves. I would easily recommend this to anyone looking for an action/thriller/mystery with a strong female character and tons of unknowns.

I am always up for a science fiction read! I am a huge sci-fi fan, so when Tracey asked me if I'd like to read and review this one, I couldn't say no! Revive definitely had an intriguing premise and I loved the idea of this girl who can't remember anything about her life, but knows she's in some serious danger.

It was a bit of a battle to really get into this book for me. I liked that we are experiencing everything as Sophia does, but it was also hard to get a grasp on what was happening. She was confused and I was definitely confused... it made it hard for me to really get invested. The story takes place in multiple periods of time for Sophia. We would see her in the present on the run and then she would get flashbacks of her life at college, in which we learn she has a mission to find a VIP, but she has very little information to go on, and then we would see her flashback to another time before she engaged in the mission at school. It was all a bit jarring and it would switch so abruptly it was hard to keep track.

Once we get to Parts Two and Three, however, I felt the book really picked up for me. We are starting to see the pieces come together and understand exactly who Sophia is and what she has to do. By this point, the flashbacks weren't as difficult to keep up with.

I do wish we would have seen more of the romance develop in this one though. I like that it wasn't romance heavy, but I do wish there had been a bit more to sell me on it. Especially since there's not just one, but TWO boys that have feelings for Sophia. I wouldn't call it a love triangle though, because it seems Sophia's made her choice based on her feelings and actions.

There is not a whole lot more I can say about this one, because I definitely don't want to spoil anything. While I struggled for the first half of the book, I really found myself enjoying the second half and was glad when all the pieces starting coming together. Once that happened, the book really picked up speed for me and I loved the action, adventure, and the unveiling of who was responsible for everything Sophia was going through.

This book was just pure awesomeness. Seriously, it's been a very long time since I've read something so fresh and appealing. I don't even want to touch on the specifics of what this book is about because anything I say would be one huge spoiler. So you'll have to take the synopsis at face value here.

The writing style reminded me of the way the TV drama Alias was always shot. You start off with something crazy, like a girl who has no idea who she is, and then each chapter reveals a little more by jumping from flashbacks of memory to what is happening right then and there. This is not an easy way to write a novel, and if you aren't careful with the way you jump back and forth it might get confusing for your readers, but the author navigated this flawlessly with perfectly timed reveals so that we have an idea of what's going on, but we really don't know for certain until the very end.

The tension and action build as the well plotted tale unfolds, and each character, including Sophia, is so fantastically developed you can't help but bond with every single one of them. Okay so...gah...I want to get into the depth of Sophie's character but I can't do that without giving away spoilers. Suffice it to say that the inner conflicts that she deals with in order to do what is right and also follow the laws that have always been set for her are illustrated perfectly through her internal narrative and interactions with those she works and goes to school with.

In the end, I think any reader will find this story so perfectly balanced with thrills, chills, romance and action they won't be interested in reading anything else until they finish the series...such a bummer that the series isn't finished yet.

I highly recommend this book to all lovers of action, romance, and thrillers. Tracey Martin is sure to become your new favorite author.

Revive is told from Sophia's perspective alternating between the present as she struggles with her true identity, and looking back as her memories come through. The writing style isn't always fluid, especially at the beginning, as Sophia's thoughts are jumbled, and the writing becomes more fluid as her thoughts became more organized. The realistic narration made what might seem like crazy unbelievable as so much more plausible as well as adding to some pretty great character development.

Now, there are a lot of lies that unfold in Revive. I spent the entire book not really trusting anyone, which put me in the story with Sophia. How crafty is that?! What makes Revive so awesome is all of those secrets, but it is those secrets that make it so frickin' hard to tell you about it...

So, instead, my thoughts on the big players early on:

Sophia - is a euphemism for badassium, If she isn't human, what is she?
Kyle - I wanted to like him, but there is is definitely something up with the dude
Cole - seems like the most untrustworthy among Sophia's 'peers'
Malone - is a creepy bastard
Fitzpatrick - AKA Bitchpatrick is one nasty biatch, so nasty that I kept thinking that it had to be a front for something better

The end didn't come as a complete surprise since I had some idea by the time it came, but it was no less great to see it play out and it was a fast paced and explosive ending. More please.

Was I right about any of the characters? You should read it and find out. Let me know if you do.

A little bit sci-fi, a little bit action and a little bit mystery. It's hard to talk about the book without giving things away because the unfolding mystery is part of what makes it enjoyable but I'll do my best.

Right away I got in Sophia/not Sophia's head, feeling just as confused, desperate and afraid. I felt for Sophia/not Sophia. She knows things aren't right, she's not right, doesn't know who to trust, what to do, she just knows that someone is after her.

Things start to return to Sophia/not Sophia, not just memories but skills and knowledge that appear just when she needs it, surprising her - and Kyle, a boy she knows but doesn't remember. We see her memories return in the form of flashbacks - something I'm usually not a fan of - but it's a good way to reveal what's going on. We slowly learn who she is, and some bits of what happened as she struggles to cope with her new reality.

There's quite a bit of character development; she grows and changes a lot through the story as she decides who she is, what she believes and how far she'll go to do the right thing. I wasn't a big fan of her romance though, I never really felt a connection between them.

Revive wasn't un-putdownable but it was intriguing enough to keep me coming back to find out what happens next. I'm very intrigued with the characters and the whole concept of the Redzone world and eagerly await the next installment in the series.

Beautiful Mash-Up!

What a fanastic way to mix together multiple genre types. It was SyFy, contemporary, romance with a splash of different!

As you meet Sophia you're instantly drawn to that mysterious factor she carries that, at first, revolves around her not knowing who she is. Then as the novel carries on and she starts discovering things, having flashbacks, she realizes there's more to her than her GPA. As the plot went on I will have to say the author did a fabulous job of hiding at the twists. Sometimes there's so much that's foretold you can almost pin-point when twists are coming, but fortunately for Tracey she has a knack for hiding them like a pro.

Throughout the entire book the story is told from 2 different POV's, it was honestly a little strange at first since I'm not use to that style, but it stuck with me after the first few chapters. With each chapter that passed we got to see a little more into Sophia's past, her flashbacks made me feel like I was there with her. My heart ached for her at times, I could only imagine the emotional roller coaster that she embarked on after someone tried to kill her.

I'm really hoping that the next book in this series takes each character to a new level, there's so much room for growth & development that it truly excites to me read the next one.

4/5

I received this book from Xpresso Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.

This book is a Young Adult, sort of Science Fiction, Contemporary novel that all revolves around a nineteen-year-old girl called Sophia... doesn't it?! This story is told in the first person, present tense, which might put some people off but if you can get past that, then this is an intriguing and suspenseful tale where you learn about what is happening at the same time as the main character.

It is an intriguing tale that constantly twists and turns and is full of action. Learning about Sophia, at the same time, as Sophia makes for an amazing read as she tries to comprehend who she was and who she is. There is a hint of romance and also of a love triangle but this doesn't really detract from the story.

If I had one suggestion for this book, it would be to make Sophia's memory flashbacks easier to distinguish. Sometimes it just seemed to flip from 'here' to 'then' with just the change of a paragraph. Apart from that, this is a well-written and fast-paced story that comes to a satisfying conclusion whilst at the same time will leave you wanting more.

I'm looking forward to reading more from this Redzone series. Definitely recommended.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review**
Sophia Hernandez knows her college ID is lying to her. She is a student at Robert Treat college. She knows someone is coming and she needs to leave. She has a gash over her left eye and small pieces of memory are returning a little at a time. Kyle has come up to Sophia. His name has just come to her. She sees two guys and somehow know they are after her. She also realized they aren't the first to chase her. 12 weeks before she had came to the college, Audrey was her roommate and this was where she had originally been introduced to Kyle. She has to find one unknown person and do it quickly. This was her first mission. Cole is in control of their unit and she wants to make him proud. She is looking for Student X. They are 19-20, most likely a Sophomore or Junior and a mutant. There is also a terrorist group looking for the same person.
Sophia is strong physically and eventually mentally. She's supposed to be more like a clone but finds her humanity. She's loyal, courageous and fast-thinking. Through the twists and turns of this story, she grows so much. I couldn't put this book down. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent plot and characters. I highly recommend it.

This book was very good. It caught my attention immediately as it started off with action. This was a suspenseful, fast paced, fresh, unique, and mysteriously suspenseful story. It often alternates between the past and the present. This story is full of twists and surprises which made it addictive to read.

Sophia is a great character. She is confused as she finds herself in the restroom of a train station unsure of who she is and why she is there. She realizes she has some deadly yet helpful skills all of a sudden. She is confused as to who she is but knows people refer to her as Sophia. But who is this Sophia she finds herself often thinking. This makes it very interesting as her journey is a crazy one. And then there is Kyle, oh my she is very attracted to him. But is unsure if she can and should trust him.

I'm new to this author and like her fast paced and action packed style. Her attention to details and descriptions are wonderful. The way she truly showed us what was going on inside of Sophia's mind was excellent and neat. It takes a great author to be able to do put us into the minds of their characters and Tracey Martin definitely did that in this book.

I received an arc of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
