Rescue Alaska is a warm yet fast moving mystery series with a light paranormal twist.

Rescue Alaska is a small town in northern Alaska where visitors come to hike and ski. Harmony Carson is a lifelong resident who volunteers as a member of the local search and rescue team. Harmony has a unique gift which she often considers a curse. She is able to 'see' the individuals she is meant to help rescue, and more often than not she can feel their fear and their pain. When she isn't aiding in a rescue, Harmony works at Neverland - the bar owned by her brother in law Jake, and volunteers at the local animal shelter. Harmony lives in a rustic cabin with six dogs, four cats, six kittens, eight rabbits, and a blind mule named Homer.

In this first book in the series, a longtime local, Tim Maverick, sends his old friend, Harley Medford, a letter with a photo stating that if he should turn up dead at some point in the near future, the man in the photo is the one who killed him. When Tim is found dead only two weeks later, Harley, who also happens to be a world famous star of action movies, comes to Rescue to find the man he is convinced killed Tim. He hears that Harmony has a reputation for finding people so he enlists her help. As they delve into the mystery they find a set of circumstances a lot more confusing and a lot more dangerous than they originally thought. The journey to find the truth behind Tim's untimely death, with take Harmony on a journey of discovery she never saw coming.

Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Cozy mysteries use to be my favorite genre to read, and for the last year or so I was having problems figuring out why I haven't been able to get into them as much as before. Kathi Daley seems to be a very well liked author, and I have to admit reading the story I could see why people like her--The characters are interesting, different and in this story the setting was what I wanted to read about (learn something about).

It was also with this cozy that I had some problems, probably not what most have when reading the cozy mystery genre. I definitely felt that the beginning and the end of the story were rushed. I really enjoyed the middle of the story and could have forgiven the rushed beginning if it wasn't for the rushed ending. Oh, the facts were there--it just didn't leave me satisfied...

Still, I do plan on reading the second book in this series, with the hope I can get more out of it--the satisfied feeling of a book a bit more fleshed out, not abruptly ended.

I enjoyed this debut cozy with a psychic twist. We all like heroes, and the protagonist has a special gift...she can communicate with people who are hurt or lost and help lead rescuers to them. She has a beautiful, special cat who helps ground her anxiety and fear when she has her visions. Likeable cast of characters. I’m looking forward to reading the next story.

An emotional beginning to an exciting new series. You are introduced to Harmony who has always lived in Rescue, Alaska and hopes to one day open up a rescue center for animals in need in her area. Harmony has been blessed with a gift or in some cases a curse when it comes to finding those who are lost in the wilderness. The losses hurt but that doesn't detour her from helping those in need. When movie star Harley Medford comes to town looking for answers into how his best friend from high school Tim Maverick ended up dead he asks Harmony for help. Harmony agrees to help and they start searching for clues. They know Tim had recently taken a job as a courier, but for who and what was he delivering? Harley ends up having to leave town for a bit but Harmony stays on the case. When she finds a stranger in her home things begin to unfold in her search for just what happened to Tim and who his mysterious boss was. Meanwhile another dog, this one pregnant, has shown up and Harmony can't turn her away. Follow along as Harmony searches for the truth, continues to rescue those in need, and opens up about her abilities. I truly liked the paranormal twist, it made for a much different read from the author. I can't wait to see what happens next in Rescue Alaska and with Harmony.

Very good start to this new series. Loved the mc's large menagerie of rescue animals. Some really great secondary characters. However, the setting of Alaska in the winter...brrr. I was overly chilled just reading about their constant snow storms! Looking forward to a future book being set in the summer.

I've been meaning to get to this series for awhile now and I'm sorry it took me this long! I loved pretty much everything about it, from the characters to the setting to the well-paced plot. It was an easy read to sink into and I read most of it in one evening.

I'm an animal lover, so I loved hearing about all Harmony's menagerie and her cozy cabin in Alaska (Maybe I should think about moving there....no, then again probably not...) and I loved her idea for an animal shelter and how it came to be. The whole cast of characters were a delight, from Harmony and her special gift and her survivor's spirit to the Search and Rescue team, Harley the hometown boy who became a Hollywood action hero and the mysterious and dashing Shredder. I loved how Harmony went about looking into Tim's death and following along as she reasoned everything out. Just an enjoyable book from start to finish.

I only have a couple things that (very slightly) detracted from the book. First, the ending was rushed; after setting up the plot thoroughly as the book went on, the entire plot was wrapped up in just a couple of paragraphs and would've appreciated being more a part of the action rather than just reading a brief rehashing, and it felt like short shrift to such a great story. Not a big detraction, but one nonetheless. Also, there were a few dropped plot points that were just ignored. Why include them, only to never mention them again. Like the footprints Harmony found around her barn. What was the point of that?

The second thing is that the word "conscious" was substituted several times for the correct word "conscience" and since it happened more than once, could not have been a typo. I don't usually notice (or comment on) grammatical errors but this one was pretty blatantly wrong and it niggled at me.

But overall, this was a great book and I'm already well into book 2, so I've definitely been sucked into Harmony's world and I'm looking forward to seeing how the series grows as it goes on.

I enjoyed Kathi Daley’s Finding Justice. It is the first book in the Rescue Alaska Mystery series.

I live in Alaska and I thought the author did a good job depicting life here. I live in Southeast and Rescue is set farther north so a bit of a difference weather wise. The dangers of cold, snow and wildlife, though, are well known throughout the state. They are a part of everyday life no matter where you live. Pretty much, unless you live close to Anchorage or in Anchorage, your choices of entertainment, restaurants and shopping are limited. All of that was presented well. As was the opposite end. No matter how small the town, drugs can be located. Dogs, (as well as cats), aren’t always taken care of the way they should be. Matter of fact the local dog shelter might be housing any number of other household pets. I once came across ferrets..for weeks. And occasionally murder happens.

I love the way the author incorporates the paranormal into the story. It is, for me, believable. It isn’t all just put out either. It is unfolding. As Harmony learns more about her power so do we. I like that a lot. It gives us a chance to grow with Harmony. I absolutely loved the fact that an animal shelter is part of the series. Reading about its development is going to be wonderfully refreshing. The mystery was well done in my opinion. Their were suspects, investigations and surprises. There was even the possibility of romance..though exactly with whom may be as intriguing as the mysteries as this series develops.

I am looking forward to reading more of this series and more from this author. Kathi Daley has numerous books and several series going on. I found no objectionable language or sex scenes. The drug use, while accepted by the people, was not graphically or gloriously depicted. I personally would have no problem with an older teen reading it. This is, of course, my opinion.

New Series That Will Pull You In

I couldn't stop reading because the story is so different from what Kathi Daley usually writes.
Harmony Carson works in her brother-in-law, Jake's bar. She is also trying to start an animal shelter and she is a rescuer in the town of Rescue, Alaska. What makes her a valuable member of the team is she can connect psychically with those who need rescuing.
When Tim, an old high school classmate dies due to an overdose, Harmony's first crush, Harley now a big movie star, returns to town to prove it was murder.
Then when a stranger, Shredder, shows up asking questions about Tim, things quickly look like Tim might have been involved in more than what people thought.

Set in a small town in Alaska, with it's psychic overtones, I think this is going to be a different type of series. And at the same time the characters and settings are described in such detail that I actually expected to see it snowing when I looked out my window on this cold and dreary day.

Finding Justice is the debut novel in Kathi Daley’s Rescue Alaska Mystery series and it’s an awesome and delightful read. The writing style flows smoothly and Ms. Daley provides great background information about the characters and the town. The characters are well rounded and affable and the mystery well plotted. This series has a light paranormal aspect with the main character being able to make a psychic connection with people in need of rescue. As with all her books, Ms. Daley has provided readers with a clean, fun read, caring and compassionate characters, and an intriguing mystery to try to solve. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.

Welcome to the small community of Rescue, which is nestled in northern Alaska. Harmony ‘Harm’ Carson has lived in Rescue her entire life and can’t imagine living anywhere else. She lost her parents in an automobile accident when she was thirteen and her sister, Val, became her guardian, and when Val married Jake Cartwright, they became a family. Four years later, Val died during a rescue and Jake took over as her guardian. Harm works in Jake’s bar, Neverland, and is a volunteer member of a search-and-rescue team with seven others. She shares her home with multiple cats, kittens, rabbits, dogs, and a blind mule and desperately wants to open an animal shelter but doesn’t have the funds to do so. Harm has a unique gift … the ability to connect psychically with people she's supposed to help save. Even though the images and feelings threaten to overwhelm and destroy her, she knows embracing the pain and fear is her destiny as well as her burden. Moose, a large Maine coon, has the ability to comfort her and somehow melt away the trauma she experiences. Movie star, Harley Medford, grew up in Rescue and returns when he learns his friend, Tim Maverick, has died. The authorities have ruled Tim’s cause of death was an accidental overdose, but Harley says Tim used to have a drug problem but had been clean for years. Tim recently sent Harley a photograph and a note saying if anything happened to him; the man in the photograph was most likely the person responsible. He believes Tim was murdered asks Harm to help him find out who is responsible.

Review:

The characters are well developed and well rounded. Harmony is a strong brave woman who has had her share of sorrow. She has the unique ability to be able to connect with people that are in trouble and who she needs to save. This is not always a good thing, sometimes the person dies and Harmony can feel the pain and suffering of the individual. But she has learned to live with her abilities and makes the most of it. I liked getting to know Harmony, Jake, her brother-in-law and all of the other members of the search and rescue team. The author always creates characters that are likeable and people you would like to get to know better and this time is no exception.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The descriptions of Rescue, Alaska, were realistic and I could just feel the bone chilling temperatures while I was reading the book. The mystery was well plotted and well thought out. There were enough suspects to consider, motives to consider and clues to sift through and it was not easy to solve.

I really enjoyed this new series and cannot wait to read the next one. With a great cast of characters, a well plotted mystery and a paranormal twist, this book has everything I look for in a cozy. I really enjoy search and rescue books and I am so glad that there is a new series I can read and be entertained by. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Set in Rescue, Alaska, Kathi Daley delivers an attention-grabbing story from start to finish. Finding Justice is an exciting, accurate, and well-written first book in a new series. Wow this book was action packed. On any given day in Alaska, someone will go missing. Whether it is an overdue hiker familiar with the terrain or a visitor to Alaska unprepared for the capricious weather, emergency response teams are on constant alert for search and rescues. Before those in need can be rescued they first must be located. Sometimes the location is immediately known, but many times someone has failed to arrive at a destination and they must be found. regularly to bring people who are lost, injured, stranded, or deceased back to their families. Searchers are skilled in wilderness first aid standards for subject assessment, stabilization, and transport. For Harmony Carson and the local search and rescue team know nothing beats finding someone who's lost; she's known that helpless terror through psychic connection with the lost. Harmony has a gift, or a curse, when it comes to finding those who are lost in the Alaskan wilderness. The victim’s injuries and deaths hurt but that doesn't stop her from helping those in need. Moose, a large Maine coon, provides comfort her and relieves the trauma she experiences. Harmony works in Jake’s bar, Neverland, and lives with multiple cats, kittens, rabbits, dogs, and a blind mule. She desperately wants to open an animal shelter but doesn’t have the funds to do so. Shredder and Riptide from Ms. Daley’s Sand and Sea Hawaiian mystery series make a cameo appearance. Shredder shares some of his mystic with protagonist, Harmony Carson, assists with a rescue and helps “Harm” deliver a litter of puppies.

Kathi Daley has penned another wonderful mystery. The mystery brings the readers into the snowy mountains of Alaska, has numerous well-developed diverse characters. The plot is superbly crafted, with multiple subplots. The story flows smoothly, is an easy read and fast paced. The characters are well developed, the plot skillfully crafted with multiple twists and turns and a mild paranormal feature. The description of Rescue, Alaska brings the reader up into the mountains as a snow storm rages. I’ve been looking forward to this series because of the concepts: human search and rescue as well as animal rescue. I will stay with this series because interesting characters and skillful writing. I really enjoyed this book. There is a good mystery in which to sink your teeth. I purchased my own copy of this book and read it on its release day. I hope you will try this series if you are a fan of the cozy mystery genre and/or search and rescue. A must-read new series of Kathi Daley.

“Finding Justice” earns 5/5 Psychic Visions of Entertainment!

Kathi Daley introduces us to her newest heroine Harmony Carson working tirelessly to live her dream by building an animal shelter in Rescue, Alaska, but the age-old Catch-22 has reared its head: need a grant approved to build the facility, but can’t get the grant unless she has the facility. It’s worse than disappointing, and while trying to come up with her next move with BFF Chloe Rivers, one she isn’t thrilled to consider, her call is interrupted…a vision. Harmony has a unique psychic ability; she senses when people are injured or dying, and now…it’s two kids, one seriously injured, and a big winter storm is on its way. She leaps into action trying to maintain the connection reminiscing about the night she had her first vision and the disastrous results. Exciting, engaging, and clever…no juvenile hocus-pocus with Harmony’s psychic abilities; it all works very well. And the mystery, 'finding justice’ for a friend, is personal with implications that could require someone needing to be ‘rescued.’

Wow! Kathi always has her characters involved in interesting occupations, but always animal friendly. Harmony is one of an eight-member search-and-rescue team with leader/bar owner/guardian Jake Cartwright, Sarge on the radio, firefighter Austin, Landon the brains, helicopter pilot Dani, and Dr. Jordan Fairchild, along with a large cranky Maine coon named Moose who seems to provide a calming effect on Harmony when the stress of her psychic connection is extreme. Additionally, she has a plethora of animals she hopes her animal rescue plans will support and provide room for more. Along with twists and turns, suspects and alibis and more than one motive to consider, it’s the signature character-driven story that delivers the most engaging fun: the interactions and connections between Harmony and Jake, who became her guardian through very tragic events, the one-who-will-not-be-contacted Harley Medford, a one-time high school kiss now famous actor, and all of her animals from dogs to cats to rabbits to a blind mule named Homer. It is a hit…all covered in snow!

Rescue, Alaska, is a small town in Northern Alaska, known for its hiking and skiing. It is also known as having one of the best search and rescue teams. Harmony Carson is a volunteer who has the gift of being able to "see" the people she is meant to rescue, though not all of them live. She is also trying to start up an animal rescue and lives in a rustic cabin with lots of her rescued animals. This is an exciting book set in a very small town. The people all know each other and are willing to help out where needed. Just the kind of story that keeps me interested. Bring on the next book in the series!

Finding Justice

A new series by best selling author Kathi Daley, I feel is going to be a smash hit. Well written, intriguing, a page turner you can't put down. Harmony and her friends live in Rescue, Alaska, they have jobs, but also have a rescue team. Love an old friend comes to town with a request that Harmony decides to help with, because he is going to help the town by donating an animal shelter. Find out if they solve the mystery and who a surprise visitor is.

I'm re-reading the Rescue Alaska Mystery series before I read the fifth book, since it's been a year since I've read the first four. This is still (by far) my favorite of Kathi Daley's cozy mystery series. Harmony Carson has the ability to connect psychically with people who are lost, which makes her a great asset to Rescue, Alaska's search and rescue team. She also wants to start the town's first animal rescue, which she does with the help of her old high school friend (who's now a movie star) Harley Medford, who's in town investigating the death of another of his old friends. Helping with the investigation, Harmony also gets involved with the mysterious spy known only as "Shredder."

I'll admit that I love stories about animal rescuers (and about search and rescue), so this series is tailor-made for me. Still, it goes into more depth than some of Daley's other series, and the paranormal/psychic element adds to the story as well. It's still a great story and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Review:

Finding Justice is the first cozy mystery in Kathi Daley’s new series centered in the small. one-stoplight town of Rescue, Alaska. It sounds like a beautiful place to live despite the sometimes deadly results of winter storms, as Harmony Carson well knows. Part of a search and rescue team that includes her late sister’s husband, Jake, and other friends from Rescue, Harmony has a talent that uniquely qualifies her to be on the team. She has the ability to “connect” with people who are lost, injured, or at times, even dying.

Harmony is a gal who is content to live in Rescue, not desiring to go off to the big city or warmer locations. She currently works at Neverland, the bar/ restaurant that Jakes owns and manages, and has a small house and barn where she and her rescued animals live. Her goal is to build an animal shelter to care for stray and feral dogs and cats and, in time, injured wildlife or larger animals. Getting funding to find a location and build is the challenge, as there are grants that would help keep it operational once it is open. She is the chairperson for the upcoming fundraiser, with the encouragement of best friend Chloe.

Chloe has finally motivated Harmony to contact Harley Medford, a famous actor who was only a year ahead of them in high school. The time is right, as when she contacts Harley, he was – after years of not seeing each other – preparing to contact her. A young man who had gone to their high school, Tim, and Harley had remained in touch over the years. He sent a strange note to Harley not long before he was found dead in a ditch of a drug overdose after being clean and sober for a while. Tim sent Harley a photo of a man and told him that if he were to die, the man responsible for it is the man in the photo. That he was in something over his head, and if he couldn’t fix it, look for the man in the photo. Harmony has a reputation for her ability to find people, and Harley hopes she will be able to help a killer.

They meet when Harley comes to town before Christmas and discuss both the animal shelter and finding more about Tim’s death. As Harmony asks Tim’s friends to get a better idea for the direction of Tim’s final days, she is at times joined by a stranger who is also looking for the man in the photo, and at other times is threatened by at least one other creep.

Harmony is very well defined; we see the world and Rescue, Alaska through her eyes. While I have not encountered anyone with her ability to connect with those in danger, it is clear to see the toll each circumstance takes on her. I do like Harmony, especially her heart for stray and injured animals, as well as her brother-in-law, Jake. Harley sounds perfect, the longer he is around, but Harmony knows it will only be a matter of time before he leaves for his next movie shoot. The characters are likable, and there is a warmth in the group that overcomes the snow and cold.

The plot is interesting, taking many unexpected turns and twists. Harmony adds much to the investigation by asking questions, listening, and using her unique talent. I like that she has a sharp mind for taking the information and deducing results, viewing the pieces as part of the whole puzzle. I also like how finding out about Tim has not just been Harmony’s project, but how others on the search and rescue team can share their abilities to help. I was a little disappointed to not learn more about the search and rescue dogs and the sled dogs, yet I was still was drawn into this novel by the characters, location, and plot. I have an appreciation for the author for being able to put herself into Harmony’s emotions as she helped with rescues, and the relationships between the characters in Rescue. I highly recommend this start of one of Kathi’s latest series!

Another masterful series starter by Kathi Daley

This is the first book in a new series by Kathi Daley, one of my favorite authors. In this series we are introduced to Harmony Carson, a young woman who is able to connect with people in danger by psychic channeling. She and a group of her friends, including her brother-in-law, Jake are part of a search and rescue team. Set in cold Rescue, Alaska there are many opportunities for this team to go into action. These connections for Harmony take a lot out of her so she needs an escape to ground her which comes in the form of a menagerie of animals including a cat who has a calming effect on her. Also Harmony is able to reconnect with an old friend, Harley who has become a big time Hollywood actor. Harmony is trying to get an animal shelter built but is unable to come up with the funding for it. She contacts Harley, who is in town for a visit and he donates a warehouse as well as money to restore the building. In return he asks Harmony to help him look into the sudden death of his friend Tim. Apparently, Tim who was a reformed drug addict was found dead of a drug overdose. Harley and Harmony don't believe that Tim had a relapse so they began to investigate his death. Along the way they discover that Tim's cabin was ransacked and that he was working as a courier for a dangerous man. Was Tim murdered or did he relapse or even possibly commit suicide? This is a fast paced, action packed book with an awesome setting and we'll developed characters that makes you keep turning the pages to the exciting conclusion. Another winner by Kathi Daley. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I am sorry that I didn't get around to reading this series sooner. A unique setting with the main character having a unique quality. Harmony who volunteers for the search and rescue team has the ability to sense when certain people are in trouble. I found this totally interesting and liked how Harmony didn't always see it as a gift, but she deals with it and has the support of the rest of the team.
When Tim Maverick comes back to town looking for answers of the death of a friend he enlists Harmony's help. Harmony soon finds that there is a lot more behind the death than was expected and she is in deep.
I loved that a character from one of Ms. Daley's other series shows up to help. I got a kick out of his and Harmony's interactions, I hope we see much more of him. The mystery kept me guessing with plenty of twists and turns, it never slowed down and kept me turning the pages. I will move on to the next in this series.

Finding Justice ( Rescue Alaska Mystery #1 )
By: Kathi Daley
Finding Justice in book one in Kathi Daley’s new series Rescue Alaska Mystery, and it is a smashing hit. It is well written with a light paranormal twist ,and the characters are well developed and real like. Takes place in Rescue Alaska a small town in Northern Alaska. A town where visitors come to hike and ski. I love the main character, Harmony Carson. She is a lifelong resident and volunteers with the local Search and Rescue Team. She has a special gift that comes in handy on rescues and other times. She loves animals and has several living with her in her cabin. A man is found dead and she is ask to help find the killer. This is a fast pace story that will have you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath. Can’t wait for book two .

Welcome to Rescue Alaska ---It's cold outside but the characters are warm and lovable. Meet Harmony Carson, A lifetime resident of Rescue. Harmony helps out with searches and rescues and possesses special abilities. In the first book, Harmony is asked by an old friend to help solve the murder of a close friend, wanting to help she agrees. What ensues is a mystery you won't soon forget. Like Ms.Daleys other mysteries Finding justice is a faced paced, can't put it down kinda book. I look forward to more in this series.

In this new series by Kathi Daley, we meet Harmony Carson who is able to 'see' the individuals she is meant to help rescue and as well feel their fear and pain. She helps out at the local search and rescue team when she not working at Neverland a bar owned by her brother in law and giving shelter to stray animals.

An old friend returns and asks for her help to solve the strange death of a long time resident who once had a drug problem but end up dead due to a drug overdose. Was it an accident or was it murder?

An exciting new read from our favorite cozy author.

Another new series from one of my favorite cozy authors. This one has a touch of the paranormal to it, as the main character, Harmony, tends to have a psychic connection to the people who need to be rescued. As far as I am aware, this is a unique character and plot idea.

Harmony is also a huge animal lover and is working to set up a new facility in order to help shelter/adopt more animals. I love her passion for animals, as well as her compassion for people.

Along with helping animals and rescuing people, Harmony manages to find herself in the middle of a murder mystery. It was a bit of a surprise when Shredder and Riptide (from the author's Sand and Sea Hawaiian mystery series) dropped into town and interacted with Harmony, even helping her deliver a litter of puppies--and working with her regarding the mystery.

Considering what a small town Rescue is, and how secluded it appears to be, I'm sure we're going to see a lot of interaction between the major characters and get to see their personalities develop--and learn more of their backstories over time as well.

The best yet!

Finding Justice is an awesome, action packed mystery with Kathi Dailey's trademark standout characters. The first in her new series set the bar high; I can't wait for more books in the Rescue Alaska series.

Having read other series by Kathi Daley I was eager to get into this new one that she brings to us. The Rescue Alaska series is set in a small town in northern Alaska. Harmony is a lifelong resident of Rescue and is trying to open an animal shelter for the homeless animals. Opening a shelter is very important to Harmony who does all she can by taking in animals and finding appropriate homes for them or adopting them herself. She's living with a menagerie of animals either in her home or in a barn which is designed to protect them from the severe cold. She is also psychic and connect with people who are in need of rescue. As such, she's part of the Search and Rescue Team.

In order to get funding for a shelter Harmony must already have a building. After exhausting all leads, Harmony goes to see Harley who's from Rescue but moved away and is now a movie star. He donates a building and start-up funds but wants Harmony's help to find a man. Harley had received a short letter from his friend, Tim, who sent a picture of a man telling Harley that if he were to suddenly die that it would probably be at the hands of this man. Harmony agrees to help.

Soon after, Harmony goes home to find a tanned stranger named Shredder sitting on her couch. While she's leery her dogs had no trouble accepting him even her wolf-dog. Shredder wants to know how she got the picture of the stranger she's been showing around as it's the picture of a man for whom the CIA has been searching for years. Harmony and Shredder do some investigating and determine that the man most likely didn't kill Tim because the method of killing is wrong.

Harmony fills Harley in and he agrees so they start looking in another direction. During one of the times that Harmony's on her own, she's taken prisoner and she manages something new with her gift that allows her to be quickly rescued and the bad guys taken into custody.

I thoroughly loved "Finding Justice" and look forward to the next book.

I had been looking forward to this new series from Author Kathi Daley.
An unusual setting for a series, a small Alaskan community, where people have to rely on each other to survive, and where the residents have to come up with their own entertainment much of the year. Add in some loveable animals and people who care about them and you have my interest.
Kathi also slides in some unusual psychic abilities. I am open to the possibilities.

It was also fun to have Shredder do a cameo appearance. If you have not met him you can learn more about him, or maybe not, in Kathi's Sand and Sea Hawaiian mystery series. It was fun to have Shredder and Riptide drop in, even helping deliver puppies. He shares some of his story with protagonist, Harmony Carson. Who is to know if it is the truth or perhaps one of the backstories his job prepares for him. As he called the number and had someone vouch for him, I pictured Penelope Garcia on the CBS hit drama Criminal Minds as the voice on the phone.

Harmony is still developing her psychic abilities and we will enjoy watching her grow as this series develops. The building of a much needed animal rescue shelter also offers opportunities for storylines about doing a different type of rescue for the group from Neverland.

This is a good introduction to a new series with much potential and more characters to whom I know faithful Kathi Daley readers will become close.
