They twinkle in the night sky, but what exactly are stars? Which one’s the nearest? Can humans visit a star? Curious little children can lift over 30 flaps to find the answers to these questions and many more in this delightful introduction to stars and the night sky, with simple explanations and gorgeous illustrations on every page.
Katie has been writing non-fiction children's books for almost half her life and loves questioning the world from a child's point of view. She's developed some of Usborne's bestselling series, including the See Inside books and the Lift-the-Flap Questions & Answers series.
Me and my son, we adore lift-the-flap Very First Questions And Answers board books from Usborne. This encyclopedia-like board book explains single topic (stars) in easily understandable and attractive way. It makes teaching your little ones a lot of fun. Add adorable illustrations and we have a winner!
This is a current favourite with Miss Two. She likes stars and she likes books with flaps. Daddy and Aunty Nikki like reading it because the words don't bore them to tears, which is always good when you have to read it several times a day.
This is a fun book that is very interactive. My nephew loved the flip open tabs and learning new facts. I even learned a fact or two. Beautifully illustrated, fun and engaging. This book would be appropriate for those who are at picture book level (age 3 to 4) up to early readers (age 6 to 7).
Very simple lift the flap book about the stars that does not have a place on my shelf.
I got it from the library and it is certainly well made but it doesn't really offer anything to learn.
I get that this one is for babies who like the pictures and lifting the flaps but you can buy Lift-The-flap Colours or even Lift-the-Flap General Knowledge. Do these books have flaps? Check. Pretty pictures? Check. Will they still be interesting to read in the next 3 years? Yes and that's the real difference here.
My advice for buying for babies is go for simple story books but skip ahead on the educational books. You will always be there to explain after all.
Wat zijn sterren? Tekst: Katie Daynes.
This book is very colorful, and the pages are covered with pictures. I like that the drawings stick out more than the words. This book is very informative and interesting for the reader to learn about stars. I like that this book has two friends exploring the stars together to make it an adventure. One cool feature about this book is that it has flaps to flip up to search for more information or clues. These flaps give students fun activities to do during their reading and keep them engaged.
I thought the illustrations were really detailed and went well with what the story is about. When reading this book I really liked on the one page where it says "can you see a bull", this is a good interaction book to do during read aloud.
This book is best suited for younger children as its content is quite simple but still raises questions for them to consider. I love the aspect of the flaps as it makes it more interactive and keeps their attention more.
What are Strars published in 2017 falls under infromational books because this answers many questions about stars, how they are formed, what are they made of and many more. ages 3-7. 4/5
