To make matters worse, the king insists that Ayato and Julis marry each other! After the ruckus at their welcome party, another visitor makes her appearance--the Witch of Solitary Venom. One of the better Asterisk books, almost dedicated entirely to world building. The author really needed to do that if he was planning on extending the series over more volumes. The political aspect of Asterisk takes center stage, and we get to know a bit about Julis' past.

Definitely not a masterpiece in any way, just a super short LN

I believe this is my favorite of the Asterisk War thus far. Not because the others are bad, just enjoyed this one a lot. We get to visit Lieseltania, homeland to Princess Julis-Alexia Marie Florentia Renate von Riessfeld. Learning more about her home, her history and her dreams was pretty interesting for me.

Of course everything doesn't go entirely smoothly so there is some typical Asterisk action going on from time to time and the political scheming throughout the series is present. On the whole, it was a good, solid world building and character building book.

The only complaint is one I've made before... at 150 pages the Asterisk War books are just too short and would be better served being doubled up. But that's more an issue with the source material and the industry in Japan. C'est la vie, it is still worth a read.

Verdict: If you finished the Phoenix Festa and aren't sure you want to jump into the next... pick up Vol. 6 it is a good pause.

A lot of backstory

This has been the slowest volume yet, but the awesome fight scene near the end more than made up for that. If this is your first experience with Asterisk War, there are definitely important plot points in this vol. But I remember them very clearly from the Anime.

All in all still a great volume

Excellent worldbuilding

Volume 6 takes us out to Julis's homeland of Lieseltania in central Europe (the real-life location of the Czech Republic) and further develops the world of The Asterisk War. We get to see first-hand what the integrated enterprise foundations have done to maintain their hold on power and the effects it has on the populace, from Julis's brother the King of Lieseltania on down to the poorest of citizens.

The action scenes are excellent as usual and the core quartet's teamwork continues to improve.
