Eden was born a hybrid wolf with both Alpha and Luna powers within her. Now that she’s seventeen, she’s expected to find a mate and prepare to take over her pack when she’s eighteen, as is tradition. But nobody expected it to be Liam.
Liam, the son of Knox and Katie, is the only werewolf born without a wolf. It was an unheard of phenomena until he was born. His twin brother got the wolf gene and Liam is just the leftover. Feeling like an outcast, he never anticipated he’d have a shot at dating Eden, let alone be her mate.
Does Eden have enough werewolf in her for the two of them to lead the pack together? To make things worse, something’s draining their livestock of their blood.

Another great one in this series from the outside in. First, that cover is gorgeous. Bethany Wicker has a great eye for covers. Every one is just perfect.
The way she brings a uniqueness to the sometimes bland werewolf storyline is probably her biggest talent. Her storylines are fresh and new and Unexpected Mate is no exception. Eden is a hybrid - being the daughter of the ultimate hybrid, Lena - she's going to be the leader of her pack. Her mate is sure to be someone who is strong and capable - or at least a werewolf.
Liam, with a wolf father and human mother, was born without a wolf. He's seen as the weakling of his pack because of it. His father and brother treat him as something other than an equal. So, when Eden claims Liam is her mate, no one is more surprised than him. Since he lacks a wolf, he can't feel it.
They get to know each other and as we see more of them, we learn that maybe Liam is the strongest of them all. A fun, entertaining story that even gives us a bit of a vampire storyline. I'm not a were fan, but I've enjoyed this series immensely.
I'm not a fan of werewolf stories, but I'm a fan of Bethany Wicker. Her writing style in engaging and entertaining, and her characters are memorable and flawed, which is just how I like them.
Eden, the daughter of Lena from the first three Aluna books, is now of age and preparing to take a mate of her own. Imagine her surprise when she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Liam, a human boy with no werewolf tendencies at all. What does this mean? How can Liam possibly fit into this society?
Throw some vampires into the mix, and you have a recipe for one delicious book. I can't even imagine lay in store for the rest of the series!
The story had a ton of potential. The super obvious foreshadowing left nothing to be surprised about. You can guess how the book is going to go right from the beginning. Werewolves seem really weak and it's hard to see them as superhuman in these books because nothing super happens. The are unable to jump over a 15 foot wall. I mean 50 feet, sure. But fifteen? Come on. These books are full of typos, which is an editor issue more than the author. Some of the typos change the entire meaning of the sentences. These books are good for a super young audience, preteen age. Some violence, some mention of sex, but nothing serious.
Next generation! Woo. This may be book 4, but it's really the start of a brand-new series.
Eden is the daughter of Lena (the heroine of the first three books). She's set to be her pack's next alpha. She's searching for her mate, someone everyone suspects will be powerful like her. So it's s shock to everyone when she finds out Liam, who happens to be more human than wolf, is her mate.
This was a great addition, and a great start to the next generation of wolves. (This one has a little vampire action in it too for all you vamp lovers.)
Really enjoyed this book! Bethany writes colorful characters full of life, it is easy to fall in love with all of them. I like the writing style, direct and succinct with just enough flair to spice up the pages. Werewolves have become popular lately, to the point of being overdone. But this series has a few twists and a fresh take that sets it apart. I love the strong female leads and the family dynamic that is true to life. I hate spoiler reviews so will just say that Unexpected Mate was an unexpected surprise and a truly enjoyable read!
I been waiting so long for another Aluna story and I enjoyed this one. It was so different and I love Liam and lanes daughter, she's just like Lena in every way, thank for this one and like always couldn't put in down! Wow furthered gonna be more cause of that filthy vampire wanting war again, and I kinda new liams wolf was dormant for some reason. Read these from the start you'll love them!
