A lonely vampire and a self-exiled werewolf never should have crossed paths--what were the odds? Even better, Richard Will and Jane Lupo hit it off immediately, despite (or because of) their differences. But when Richard is led to believe the comely werewolf set him up to be murdered, everything goes sideways. Rather than leave town like a sensible person, Richard abducts Jane and brings her to his brownstone. At first, it was simply because he needed information. Then it was about getting her to admit the truth. And all too soon, it was about showing Jane what pleasures could be had in each other if they both stripped off the masks they wore for polite society.
Too late, Richard realizes his gorgeous prisoner has turned the tables, and he's as much her captive as she is his. Richard knows he's losing his heart, but he's in more danger than he knows. After all, the full moon is only five nights away...

KU extended version The stories in this series are scattered far and wide in different anthologies. Having owned most of the originals in this series for years, I was really excited to see this book in Kindle Unlimited as I assumed the series had been released again. Unfortunately this was not the case, only this book was in KU and book 3, Derik’s Bane, is available for purchase. I am hoping the rest of the series will also be redone and re-released. Though this still has the same forced sex scene as the shorter version which I am not keen on, the rest of the story really flowed better. Just needed some formatting and proofreading done to correct some errors. Read through KU. ORIGIANL REVIEW for THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT Good story spoilt by the wrong type of sex scene. Janet and Richard are a great couple but once again we have a rape scene in a story. I am not sure why this author likes this theme of I will rape you but you will fall in love with me. Just wrong. This book needs to be rewritten and bought up to a better standard because it was good apart from that scene.

TRIGGER WARNING!!! Kidnapping and rape. This story is seriously fucked up. It started out so well, I was really loving the story. Then, ugh. What the fuck was MJD thinking. This story was sick. I had to fast forward through the rapey crap to find out how it finally resolved. It was not good.
Not a lot to it, but I'm a longtime fan of mjd. Might not be enough to win over a new reader, but if the snark doesn't turn you off, try the "Undead" series and it will lead you into more about the Wyndham werewolves
