A collection of love poems and fierce raps, Millefiori is Omar Musa's third book of poetry. Both dream-like and gritty, it also includes gorgeous illustrations and draft poems from Musa's notebook. Heartbreak, cocaine, colonial violence, memory, and cave paintings: this is a world full of unbearable beauty and brutality.
We know the world is a horror story, but it's also got love notes in the margins

He has released three hip hop albums, two poetry books (including "Parang"), appeared on ABC's Q&A and received a standing ovation at TEDx Sydney at the Sydney Opera House. His debut novel "Here Come the Dogs" was published by Penguin Australia in July 2014.
I just finished this collection by one of Australia's most prominent contemporary poets. Delving deep into the personal to reveal hard truths about Australian society - these poems, raps and sonnets are intimate, full of heart, rage, anger and hope. I LOVED IT.
First came across Omar's poetry during the Canberra Centenary His poem on the occasion was so apt and exact I decided I needed more of that. Which makes me wonder I've been so wrong for it to take me this long to enjoy these lyric love poems and the fierce rap This is powerful collection. Highly recommended.
Whereas a lot of Musa's earlier work dealt with a clash between cultures, classes and social mores, Millefiori is a more personal exploration of relationships that is, somehow, gritter and more confronting in its unexpected approach to the familiar. Definitely some new favourites in this volume!
A great read. Omar is one of my favourites. So accessible but so much said. Eloquent and poignant but a lot of fun as well. Very clever guy and amazing performer!
it's SO RHYTHMIC. impossible not to read out loud. love, love, love <3 also, I'm trying not to rate poetry books from now on, but this was really good!
