Another weak sequel to this historical fiction book series, but sometimes you just have to keep reading.

The entire Liberty Bell series is wonderful so far, and this book is no exception. Gilbert Morris does a wonderful job of portraying the difficulties of life during the American Revolution, the customs and social norms at the time, the stress of having family members on both sides of the war, which many did, and the almost unbelievable will to survive that many of the continental soldiers and officers had. Add to that the important moral dilemmas several characters were in during the course of the novel, and you have a very worthwhile read for anyone interested in the time period.

A lot of historical characters played a part in this novel. The characters showed a lot of growing up, questioning one' purpose, and risk taking. It was an interesting perspective of the times, most clearly written by a man.

I am enjoying this whole series of historical fiction. I feel like I am getting to know the characters and experiencing through the reading of this book what life was like back in that era.
