I have been fascinated by this strange book for many years. I don't think it was published in 1979. Mine says 1992, and that's the same year I found the book sitting on a giveaway table in the newsroom where I worked. The book contains many references to things that happened in the 1980's, after 1979. Maybe multiple editions?
David "Neil" as he sometimes spells it in the book makes a case for why he is the Messiah, in words, pictures, diagrams, songs and a manifesto called the "Neil" Deal. I loved the way the author seemed to be teasing us with ridiculous nonsense, but including a tiny speck of "could this be real?" Joke or not (obviously yes), the 230 pages of this book contains enough obsessive detail, including formulas, calculations, indices and appendices, to make it clear that David "Neil" may have some issues with disordered thinking.
I still have this book and used it as a curiosity in the bookcase, something to show people when they "wanna see something really weird?"
I'm just putting this here in case someone else knows of this book and has anything to say.
