This is a lovely book with beautiful illustrations. My daughter loves the classic rhyme and I thought the silver star on each page was a nice touch.

This has the entire poem, not just the first stanza known to most people. What makes this book remarkable are Michael Hague's gorgeous illustrations!

This nursery rhyme is very well-known. Parents like to read it to their young children as a bedtime story. Infants and young children enjoy listening to this story, as it helps them to calm down and fall asleep. Children enjoy the rhyming words and can eventually read it on their own as they get older.

3. Summary: This book is about two young, eager children on the night of Christmas Eve. The happy family prepares their house for Santa to come and deliver presents, writing a note to Santa, decorating the Christmas tree, and laying out cookies. As it becomes later in the night, Santa is led to the children’s house by the shining star in the sky. The children were up so late to welcome Santa that they became exhausted, however, they continued to stay up until morning came.
4. Review: I love how this book takes a children’s song and transforms it into an elaborate, exciting story that children can relate to. I think the illustrations are very detailed and realistic, which adds to the connection between the story and the audience. I noticed that every page in the book had smoothly rhyming sentences that flowed easily to make for a more enjoyable, easy read.

3. At first glance this book could easily be mistaken as a song, however it is the complete original poem of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" by Jane Taylor. This story is in a Christmas theme and tells the story of "the traveller in the dark" also known as, Santa Clause! In the poem, Santa comes to the homes of children guided by a twinkling star in the winter sky. On this Christmas Eve, Santa visits the home of a sweet girl who is the speaker of the poem. The poem is her thank you to the star for bringing Santa to her home.
4. I have never heard of or seen this rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and I absolutely loved it. In the appropriate setting I could see this poem being a nice addition to the holiday season.
5. A) During a unit on holidays around the world, this poem could be used to introduce the Christmas tradition of Santa Clause visiting homes on Christmas Eve and leaving gifts for children.
B) For non-readers this book could be used as an illustration scavenger hunt. Review: I like the promise of the story line but it was not what I was expecting when I picked it up. I probably won't use this book as a read aloud, but i would keep it in my library. I would rather use twinkle twinkle embedded in a story about bedtime.

I got really interested in Judy Mastrangelo right when I first met her work. A contemporary artist doing such a meticulous artwork in this classic, traditional style is a really rare thing to find. I was very intrigued and curious to read and see her books. The Star is a book illustrating the famous poem Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Jane Taylor. I think the book is nice. The illustrations inside the book are as lovely as the cover illustration. The ageless, soft style in pink, blue and yellow of the illustrations fits nicely this classic poem. I appreciate the dedication with which these images were made, creating a dreamy world of orderly, sweet beauty. The design and formatting of the book are ok, but I think that these illustrations deserve more refined formatting. I recommend this book for children and adults who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustration.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Jane Taylor is an extension of the traditional one. This version has a Christmas twist. In this book the children realize that Santa is lost and have to help him find his way using the stars. I did like this book and the Christmas twist however this book would be most useful around December time not all year round. I did enjoy this version though and I can picture the students enjoying it as well. This book is appropriate for 3-6 year olds. A way to incorporate this book into my class is to talk about different holidays. After talking about the different holidays I would have books that are related to each holiday discussed and I would include this book. Overall this book was a fun book that children would love.

In this song book, it is Christmas time and the children sing this song to show how the light of the star has guided Santa and his elves into the home of children’s houses. This book is a rendition of the nineteenth century version and is a lot different than the nursery rhyme song that children are familiar with today. This song book may not be for all students since the lyrics may be too long and may lose the interest of some children. This book is appropriate for first graders and a writing activity can be done with them. On a star, they can write about what makes them shine or what makes them stand out.

Gorgeous version of one of my favorite lullabies--it even has the additional verses.
Unfortunately it also has a center "POP-UP"--a foldout that will get wrecked probably by the first little user. Plus it has a design where you read the first two verses, then flip the book upside down for the rest.
The result is a book that is too gimicky to circulate--and I am not even sure I will be able to use it in story hour. Wish the reviews I read had noted these problems.
Caveat emptor....

This is one of those books that can be read to the middle one way, then turned upside down and read to the middle again the other way. In one story a young boy is taking his dog and his little wagon for a ride at bedtime and they end up in the sky following a star. In the other story a small alien and his robot are flying through the sky following a star. They eventually meet in the middle and the illustration of that open up to oversize fun. The illustrations are gorgeous but I'm still on the fence as to whether or not my preschoolers will get it.

This book is a read along that goes to the tune of the song “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” that adds a plot to the well-known song. Mem Fox talks a lot about books with a tune help children memorize the context of the book so much more, that later contributes to the true art of reading instead of just remembering the words. Also, there are detailed, expressive illustrations that won’t only draw your readers in but also help them link the words to the setting/pictures.

The words are the song "Twinkle, twinkle little star." A little boy is looking at an atlas in his room and gets transported in (probably in his imagination) to the three kings following the star and then to the city of Bethlehem. A sweet Christmas book.

Twinkle is a cute book, but I found it a little confusing, as you have to turn it upside down and the foldout is a bit cumbersome and likely to wrip.

How can you *NOT* love Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star?!?! I really like this edition's pictures. Several of my students have really enjoyed this book.
