Morgan's life changes when she discovers her true fate. Not only must she pick a mate from one of her five guardians she also must prepare for an impending battle. Her days are spent between training, study and exploring the men she will choose from.
So this provided some good background on the Morrigan and why she is like she is. It gave insight to how and why the Ravens were created and established the story more. We also got to see the Morrigan in action.
However, while it was great for the backstory it lacked "relationship" building and was focused more on "lust". The guys were constantly repeating that they were "honored" to provide or take care of her in the way (sexual release) they were BUT, to me, feeling honored to do something doesn't equate love. Also...the guys have secrets. I would be fine with that if it wasn't alluded to that the secrets were scandalous. The Professor stated there were "rumors" about the guys and when something like is stated my mind automatically goes in the wrong direction. My mind goes to OW....could so be wrong? Absolutely...but again...stating there were rumors and inquiring if Morgan was "ok" living with them doesn't give me a good feeling and makes me question their devotion. Also...redirecting and giving a non answer when Morigan asked fed into my concern....
Finally one more thing that I feel needs to be clarified...like I said above we got to see the Morrigan in action and it was mental war fair not physical. The guys have been training g her for a physics fights but we haven't seen any mental preparation. The author needs to expand on this IMO.
So, read the book for the backstory - cuz I totally don't blame the Morrigan for breaking bad - but don't expect to much love.
*I received an ARC from the author for an honest review*.
This story is coming more together for me in this book. More is understandable and you are explained why some things are happening. You also get the first smut scene and oh my was it good! Mostly because it was the guardian that I wanted it to be! :D
She claims to be committed yet she confessed of delaying her decision because of fear. Again, did she forget the catastrophic event that will happen with her being indecisive.
I sometimes question Morgan; if whether or not she is hiding from reality by throwing herself at her work to try to feel 'normal'. I think she is a bit selfish in that regard but then considering her unusual situation; It's panic inducing.
Soon to be released: I had the honor and pleasure to Beta read this installment
Morgan's life has changed drastically since she arrived a few short weeks ago believing that she was a talented grad student who had won a prestigious scholarship for her writing. Now she knows that she is the most recent Morrigan and that she could destroy the world. She must pick a mate from one of her five raven guardians while readying herself for the upcoming battle. Her days are crammed with writing, training, studying her own history, and trying to decide which man is her true mate.
Ebony Rising is even better than the first book. It moves the story forward at a nice pace and is the perfect balance between story development and relationship development. Morgan spends time with each of the guys so we get to know them better. We even get a bit of their creation story. Again the raven mythology makes for a brilliant feature. The attention to detail adds so much! Things are heating up between Morgan and the guys too. Angel Lawson is a master at creating an erotic scene. Whether it's dueling with Clinton or getting painted by Bunny, it's sensuous. The actual steamy scenes are unbelievably sexy. True connections are building with all of the guys. It's the ideal RH. Side characters are introduced or play bigger roles in this book and add to the suspense. It's clear that time is running out. Morgan must make a decision or all could be lost. Book two ended with such intensity; it's volatile and could get much worse very quickly. It had me screaming, worrying, but also hoping. I can't wait for book three.
The story just gets better. . . Angel really steps it up with the heat. . . OMG! I needed a cold shower after reading it hehe. .I really feel Morgan's struggle with choosing and I can't wait to read how they decide to be together and whether it will stay with her being with them one of them at a time. We get a little more of the Morrigan inside Morgan and how it is affecting her and becoming more of its own entity. Its slowly starting to take over and I really want to find out how she's going to deal with it once it becomes stronger.
I love that she is still a strong person and is able to take charge in certain situations. With this types of books you don't usually have the woman take charge and they kind of sit back and relax (the ones I've read anyway), but not her. . .Not Morgan - it is just one of the reasons why I love her so much.
I read the first book because the whole concept of her being a queen and having a dark force inside of her and the use of ravens intrigued me. I am continuing on reading because as much as the book gets hot and steamy (which I LOVE), the story continues along to give you a bit more on her relationships outside the group and what is happening to her. What really intrigues me is her relationship with Professor Christensen and Anita and I love that we get more of them in this book. Also, what does the professor know?? I've always felt that he has a bigger part in the story than what has been told and after the conversation with Morgan its making me even more sure that he has something to do with her other than being her professor.
I really can't wait for the next book to see what happens next. . . . I'm eagerly. . EAGERLY waiting for it
This book was better than the first book in the series. I enjoyed the deeper connections that formed with each male in her harem. Each one of them gave off a different sense of right, even she felt that.
The fighting in the ring as well as under the bridge with the other woman, were some amazing character building scenes. They seem quiet important for the character growth of Morgan, as well as her relationship with the men. In ways, after those fights, the caring nature of those men came to the surface to flourish.
I loved the scene with the paint and Bunny, oh Bunny. I love him. He is so sweet and caring and tender, with his craft as well as with the main character. The painting scene had its own atmosphere that made it stand out from other scenes in this book. 🥰 A potential bookish Boyfriend is what he is. I might just buy the paperback copy of the second book for that scene alone😉.
I am tempted to just stop the series of six books after the second. This is mainly because of the last chapter in this book. I feel that it could have ended after some compromising chapters towards the end, instead of having a twist, were even the main female character didn’t even seem like herself in my eyes.
That will be something to think about. If I will be willing to continue on with this series. I was truly invested, as was I feeling for them. That cat in human form is deceiving. Although I did think that there might be some connection between the cat, her brother, and Morgan.
Although for now, this is where I will be discontinuing my reading experience of this series. Six book just seem like too much.
I was really excited about the first book in "The Raven Queen´s Harem" and the unusual topic seemed promising...and that it was! So naturally, like the impatient reader that I am (with my notorious grabby hands), I soo couldn´t wait for the next book. I´ve had the honour to already read "Ebony Rising" as a part of Angel Lawsons ARC Team and I gotta say: HOLY MOLY what a fantastic sequel!!
I don´t want to give away too much, so here are the most strinking assets of this book:
- refreshing topic and genre mixture - entertaining language - artfully visualised world and surroundings - well-developed character relationships - deep empotions - sizzling tension - lovely MC - diversity and depth of the characters - and quite a tease as ending!!
and these are only some of the reasons why I devoured "Ebony Rising". You are hooked from the first page and can´t put it aside for only one second...I mean who needs sleep, something to drink or go to work anyway!
Angel Lawson has outdone herself with the second book and when you haven´t already been addicted after the first book you´ll definatley be now! I tried to click to the next page for about 10 minutes because I don´t wanted it to be real that the book is already over, so prepare for a massive book-hangover...it´s hard, but we all know we wouldn´t want it any other way!
So don´t waste any more time reading my review and start reading!!
Wow, what a great read. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and found it intriguing. Partly as I'd never read anything to do with the myth of the Morrigan before and partly as the story line drew me in. So I was excitedly waiting for the next book to arrive, and luckily I didn't have to wait too long as here it is. Woohoo! We dive right back into the story of Morgan and her five guardians. Things really heat up in this book, and when I say heat up I mean that I could almost see the steam rising off my pages in a few points. It's a very well written book and it had me turning the pages easily. So easily in fact that I didn't realise I'd got to the end and kept tapping my kindle for more! I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series as even though this book doesn't end in a cliffhanger as such, it does leave me with lots more unanswered questions and I really need to know what's going to happen next. Definitely recommend reading this book if you've read the first and if you haven't read book one yet then go and do that quickly as you're missing out.
**I received a free ARC and I'm voluntarily reviewing it**
"You don't get to tell me what I can handle Guardian" - Morgan
That must be my favorite sentence in this entire book haha. Morgan has really jumped into this world with both feet and doesn't feel the need to deny it. It's one of the things I like most about her. She doesn't waste time in groaning on about how something just "can't be happening" or is unfair.
Sure she's trying to keep her head above water and while she doesn't always succeed...she's at least doing her very best to take it in stride.
Things are starting to get intense, choices need to be made and for all intents and purposes a ticking time bomb is sitting in Morgan's lap. The darkness won't wait forever to surface.
I loved seeing more of the interactions between Morgan and her guardians and delving deeper into the lore of the Raven Queen. && the ending? Now that really wasn't something I saw coming lol I'm on pins and needles waiting to see how it continues to develop! I can't get my hands on next book fast enough! Haha.
Without much objection, Morgan seems to settle into her new life a little too easily. Everyone knows that just when you think you have it all worked out, the darkness escapes. Looking forward to what this will mean for Morgan and her ravens in the next book. Fav Quote: “I want you more than you can imagine. You’re like the fire of a thousand suns and I’m a tiny moth with no hope but to burn my wings. You’re like a gallon of wine for a man dying of thirst. You’re the stars that guide a sailor home.” I inhale and say, “Let me guide your way. Let me quench your thirst. I’m here for you just like you’re here for me.” Star ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I can't stop daydreaming and telling everyone about this book. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - A great read with all the feels. I would read again. ⭐⭐⭐ - I liked the book but wouldn't it read again. ⭐⭐ - Usually in the DNF pile or I suffered until the end for whatever reason. ⭐- Just no.
Rating all 6 books as 1 because they added up to about 800ish pages (19hours) combined and I listed to the full collection audiobook so the chapters were literally back to back so I have no idea when each book ended. This also makes no sense and should have book 2 books but I think it was a little bit of a Wattpad story to start with..
The overall story was a bit different from the norm which I liked enjoyed for the most part but the FMC erked me to no end as her personality started out okay but then started to become nothing but whiney as fuck but taking in the wording also made it extremely childish at times. The MMC's were decent, I just wish they were more prominent throughout the story as we didn't get much relationship development with any of them, making it mostly about herself.
If you were looking for a quick easy read then go ahead but I wouldn't recommend it 🙄💀
Read with Kindle Unlimited. Book 1 was a bit dark, but not to the point that I disliked the story. I had hoped the guys would bring about a change in Morgan, so the direction would change for her. While I liked book 1 enough to continue on with book 2, book 2 got decisively way too dark for my tastes. So I didn’t like this book. This book was an incredibly heavy read. I wasn’t expecting it to go the direction it did. The RH group really didn’t feel connected. I don’t feel love from any of the 5 guys for Morgan, or her for them to see this as a RH. I would have expected the group to have developed more connection to each other by the end of book 2. I don’t feel I know the characters any better than when I started book 1. At this point, I also don’t like Morgan. This is not a series I will continue with.
This is Part 2 in The Raven Queen's Harem (make sure to read Part 1, "Raven's Mark" first) and I liked it just as much as the first installment. As with my review of Part 1, I am finding it difficult to describe what I liked most without giving away spoilers. Often I don't like multiple POV stories as much as singular but in this case I really liked the guys' POV as well. I enjoyed the romantic scenes, and it seemed like there was more progress on that front than in the other main story thread. This isn't necessarily a negative, just an observation. The writing is fast-paced and well edited and when the story ended I couldn't wait to read more, so I will be eagerly awaiting Part 3.
Ebony Rising is book 2 in the Raven Queen's Harem series. This book was even better than book one. We get to know the boys a bit better and we get to understand more about their roles as Morgan's guard. We also learn so much more about Morrigan/Morgan and she has a hard decision to make that could effect the fate of the world. It is extremely well written book, and the storyline is just so different I love it. I love the different POVs too. I now have to wait until October to get my hands on the next one. What am I going to do...
If you are reading this wondering if you should start this series I say differently!
Morgan knows that she is the reincarnation of the Morrigan and in order to help her keep control of her dark side, she must take one mate. After she takes one mate, the other will move onto other assignments. She doesn't know which of the 5 to choose so she asks them to take a month and prove themselves. She becomes intimate with each of them in this book. At one point she succumbs to her dark side and infects a man outside of the group with her darkness. At the end they are trying to find a way to keep the infected man from dying or infecting others. And she is trying to find a way to keep all 5 of them as her mates.
Very short. Keeps you interested.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it
Wow, book two is just as exciting as book one, we get to know the boys a bit better and we get to understand more about them and their roles as Morgan's guards.
It is extremely well written, the storyline is amazing and different. Fantastic characters who have great chemistry I did not put it down until i had read the last word.
I highly recommend this as it is awesome and is a truly womderful story
It was much more entertaining than the first. I like that sex is present but that it is not the essence of the book. I hope the series continues like this. In this book, Morgan's education continues, which is pressing because the darkness is manifesting, as the attraction with the five guardians grows. Unfortunately she made the decision a little late and now she has left a mess that needs to be fixed.
Readers did an excellent job telling the story!! There were times I wanted to literally crawl into the book and wring the main character’s neck for being so stupid about things but in the end she learned and she grew along with her five raven warriors. All of these books kept you glued and interested and just waiting to find out what would happen next in the battle of good versus evil! I don’t think I’ve read anything from this author before but I do plan on it in the future!!
I am so in love with this series it isn't even funny. I can't believe it too me so long to read Raven's Mark and Ebony Rising is a fantastic follow up to the first novel. All I have to say is that LOOOOVE Clinton so much and I wanted to badly to have like a one liner from the book at the end!
I loved Ebony Rising! There is more heat and the story moves quickly. I am completely fascinated by the Raven/Morrigan mythology, and was happy we got to learn more about the guys origins. The story does end on a cliff hanger, but at least the next book is on next month. Now to contain my impatience ;-)
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed an ARC of this book
I still can’t get over her being an author . For some reason that profession seems over played in books.
She finally lost her virginity to Clinton. Gotta say I’m glad. She is such a tease to the guys and I feel bad bc they are stuck watching her. I feel as if we are missing something though. Maybe it will be revealed in the next book.
Ha! See what I did there... kind of. Anyway, amazing book! Worth the wait and I am so excited to read more! This book is steamy and if you don’t like sexy scenes it might not be for you because there are quite a few of those! Wowsa do things certainly heate up in this book! I can’t wait for more from these guys! Loved it!
I am so in love with this story. It's like I keep waiting and waiting and for some reason I knew she'd choose Clinton for her first time. It was the fear and allure all at the same time that drove her to choose him. I loce this and can't wait for her to reveal that she needs them all!!!
This definitely got better. Things are heating up for Morgan and her guys, and now the Darkness and The Morrigan are getting too strong. It’s time to choose her mate, but who will it be??? My vote is Clinton, yummmm he’s just so masculine! I don’t want to give any of the story away so I’m going to stop there, but things are getting gooooooood!!
Ok we are making progress. More back story in this book and we finally get to see a little of The Morrigan in action (very little but it’s something). However for some reason I am still intrigued by this story and will be reading book 3. I would give this 3.5 stars if I could because I am still interested.
This book was even better than the first one. In this book we learn so much more about the Morrigan/Morgan. She has a hard decision to make that could effect the fate of the world. I love the different POVs. We also get to know the Ravens better. Can't wait for the next one.
This is a very interesting series and I'm really enjoying it. Only complaint is the books are way too short. I started the series today and am now about to start book three.
Glad to see more of the story unfolding behind Morgan and the Morrigan. Very much looking forward to how things will pan out between Morgan and Dylan! And all the rest of the guys of course (but mostly Dylan).
The plot is building and keeping me interested. I do have a question, when does she go to actual class? The Darkness is making itself known and can't wait to find out what happens
