Emerging from an ancient civil war with only a patchwork of once-powerful technologies, the Qurls are threatened by new weapons in the hands of old enemies. Driven by the guilt of a comrade's death, Mikial reaches out through her own divided heritage to discover the humans behind the guns. The one enemy she didn't expect to face was her own people. The one ally she didn't plan on being saved by was human.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit challenging at first trying to understand all of the terms in the book and keep them straight, but once I did, I was hooked. Great story. Can't wait to read the other 3 in the series.
Blade Dancer is a complicated story set in an alien world rich in military history. The reader is immersed in the life of Mikial Haran, a new soldier in the Qurl Datha sect, while she struggles with her own personal demons and the events in her world that threaten to change the path of all its inhabitants - regardless of how much they hate each other.

A great read. Very detailed and in depth in how the world-building of the planet Dessa was created. It was like learning a new language...which is why it took me some time to finish reading as I had to go back and re-read certain parts. Looking forward to reading Rogue Dancer, part two in the Dancer series. Thanks KM Tolan for a great series!
Engrossing! This is a very complete world, with a new, very complex race! I'm glad I bought the whole series, because I'd be in withdrawal if I had to stop after the first one!!!
