I really liked the beginning of the book. A very objective look at the definition of being an empath with an overview of what it means to different people is pretty much what I expected.
However, I feel like Bennett dropped the ball when it comes to the advice she gives. While the preface promises that the book "also addresses any 'Now what?' questions that you may have, including questions relating to empathy-related impairments, such as feeling overwhelmed by the emotions of others around us, being unable to separate from others' emotions or even experiencing isolation due either to the need to self-protect or the inability of those around us to understand our empathic tendencies", the book doesn't really provide much more than a general call for self-acceptance and the push to look for professional help if you're suffering from any of these empath-related problems. Not really what I expected from a 'Practical Guide'!
