There are limits to human endurance, and Mya’s been pushed beyond them. Survival comes at a dreadful cost, shattering her confidence as well as her body. Consumed by revenge, she transforms her guild war into a personal vendetta.
But she’s not alone.
Lad arrives from Twailin to help, but finds Mya’s thirst for vengeance disturbing. He knows that poison, how it destroys the soul. He reaches out, but nothing can pierce the armor of her hatred.
With the city in chaos and war looming, they set out together to take back the Assassins Guild. But each also has their own agenda. Will Mya give up her pursuit of vengeance, or will Lad be forced to destroy her?
From the sea to the stars, Chris A. Jackson’s stories take you to the far reaches of the imagination. Raised on the back deck of a fishing boat and trained as a marine biologist, he became sidetracked by a career in biomedical research, but regained his heart and soul in 2009 when he and his wife Anne left the dock aboard the 45-foot sailboat Mr Mac to cruise the Caribbean and write fulltime. With his nautical background, writing sea stories seemed inevitable for Chris. His acclaimed Scimitar Seas nautical fantasies won three consecutive Gold Medals in the ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards. His Pathfinders Tales from Paizo Publishing combine high-seas combat and romance set in the award-winning world of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Not to be outdone, Privateer Press released Blood & Iron, a swashbuckling novella set in the Iron Kingdoms. Chris’ repertoire also includes the award-winning and Kindle best-selling Weapon of Flesh Series, the contemporary urban fantasy Dragon Dreams, as well as additional fantasy novels, the humorous sci fi Cheese Runners trilogy of novellas, and numerous short stories. Perfect ending to a great series - both Lad and Mya have gone through such a journey through these six books, they've both lost friends and lovers, followers and guild members. Both have been put through the wringer if you will, but where Lad came out the other side stronger...well, Mya has to choose here what path she will follow.
I love both these characters and I'm a little sad to see the end (although if the author decides to write more in this world I will always buy more)....But that said these books were great. Solid world building, great cast of characters, subtle magic and the action scenes are written to perfection.
If you are even looking at this review and haven't yet read book 1 I'm guessing you are like me and that sometimes you like to make sure a series is complete before picking it up.
So yes, this series in complete (for now?). So if you like assassins and stuff, great action with some nice world building and solid characters, buy all six books.
