Antony Johnston is one of the most versatile writers of the modern era.

The Charlize Theron movie Atomic Blonde was based on his graphic novel. His murder mystery series The Dog Sitter Detective won the Barker Book Award. His crime puzzle novel Can You Solve the Murder? reinvented choose-your-own-story books for a mainstream audience and was a Waterstones Paperback of the Year. Antony is a celebrated videogames writer, with genre-defining titles including Dead Space, Shadow of Mordor, and Resident Evil Village to his credit. His work on Silent Hill Ascension made him the only writer in the world to have contributed to all of gaming’s ‘big three’ horror franchises.

His immense body of work also includes Marvel superheroes such as Daredevil and Shang-Chi, the award-winning Alex Rider graphic novels, the post-apocalypse epic Wasteland, and more. He wrote and directed the film Crossover Point, made entirely in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic.

An experienced podcaster and public speaker, he also frequently writes articles on the life of an author, and is a prolific musician.

Antony is a former vice chair of the Crime Writers’ Association, a member of International Thriller Writers and the Society of Authors, a Shore Scripts screenwriting judge, and sits on the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s videogames committee. He lives and works in England.

Baboushka is on the trail of "Ghost Stations" from the Soviet Union time that someone is digging up. The disappearance of an EON agent leads her to Switzerland and Sebastian Temple. A "chance" encounter with a "disgruntled" employee leads to a trap in the local Ghost Station. Escaping from there with the aid of an old enemy, she heads to Canada where another trap lands her in Greenland. Plenty of action, plenty of thrills but with art work a step down from the first volume in the series. Still fun though.

This action packed adventure is another fun and exciting romp staring the kick ass character Contessa Annika Malikova aka Baboushka. This time she is on a quest to find out what secrets are hidden in cold war era Russian Ghost Stations across the globe. The story is fast paced with plenty of classic James Bond type scenes and sceneries.

The art has cool perspectives with nice watercolor coloring. However, I am not found of the way the noses are drawn and colored. Every character seems to have the same awkward looking nose.

Ghost Station Zero

Old-fashioned secret agent series - fun and games Bond-style

Like Bond films, this series has an almost invincible agent, Baboushka, working to save the world, using violence, sex and intrigue. The plot is almost predictable and those believed dead aren’t always.
Vividly coloured with clear illustrations, this is quite enjoyable without being particularly original. Reasonably good but nothing that special.
