Lynsey James was born in Fife in 1991 and has been telling people how to spell her name ever since. She's an incurable bookworm who loves nothing more than getting lost in a good story with memorable characters. She started writing when she was really young and credits her lovely Grandad- and possibly a bump on the head from a Mr Frosty machine- with her love of telling stories. She used to write her own episodes of Friends and act them out in front of her family (in fact she's sure she put Ross and Rachel together first!)

A careers adviser at school once told Lynsey writing wasn’t a “good option” and for a few years, she believed her. She tried a little bit of everything, including make-up artistry, teaching and doing admin for a chocolate fountain company. The free chocolate was brilliant. When Lynsey left my job a couple of years ago, she started writing full-time while she looked for another one. As soon as she started working on her story, Lynsey fell in love and decided to finally pursue her dream. She haven’t looked back since.

When Lynsey's not writing, eating cake or drinking tea, she's daydreaming about the day Dylan O’Brien FINALLY realises they're meant to be together. It’ll happen one day…

Oh my what a wonderful read!

In this story Cleo is still nursing a broken heart , from a year ago when her boyfriend Scott left her to live in Australia.  She has been working on herself and checking things off her bucket list.  She is slowly moving on, but not ready to date again.  Then after a sky diving experience with her bff Emma they decide to go to the pub to celebrate.  Low and behold she runs into none other than Scott.  All the feelings come rushing forward as he professes his apology asking for another chance.  But she stands strong and walks away.

As they continue to bump into each other, her resolve weakens.  Then they have a one night stand, only for her to wake up alone.  Devastated and feeling he has abandoned her again, she falls back into heartbreak again.

When fate comes calling Cleo faints and is rushed to the hospital.  The prognosis is she is pregnant.  What will she do now?  When she breaks the news to Scott, he decides that he wants to be there for his child.  They agree to put their issues aide and work together to be good parents.

Scott is determined to be there for his child.  even if it means he can’t be with Cleo romantically.  Will he and Cleo comes to terms with their relationship?  Or will all the obstacles pull them apart?

This is the first book by Lynsey James that I have read and I was so impressed.  I really loved this story.  It was a very emotional read.   The type of story that will touch your soul.  Ms. James took her time telling the story and developing the characters.  An amazing story.  A lovely tale of second chances and new beginnings.

The characters in this book are amazing and really make this book come alive.  Each character has strength in spades.  Cleo really does have some issues she struggles with.  She is very determined to overcome it all to become the best mummy she can be.  Scott is a very sweet guy.  He loves Cleo desperately and he is afraid to show that side to Cleo, afraid it will scare her away.  He is also a very caring and determined man.  Cleo and Scott really work hard to overcome all the obstacles that are tossed at them.  Let me tell you they are some doozies.

This book will draw you in and captivate you.  A wonderful cozy Christmas read.  Perfect for sitting  by the fire curled up in the blanket with a hot chocolate.  It will make you laugh, cry, smile and fall in love.  I can definitely see this becoming a movie.  Maybe another Love Actually.  I love a good Christmas Romance!

This was a very sweet romance that I had planned to read at Christmas, but it got pushed back a bit. Cleo is still in love with her ex-boyfriend Scott who up and left her a year earlier to move to Australia. When he returns to Silverdale, he wants to get back together. He admits he has made a mistake and begs Cleo to forgive him. She is not willing to do that, at least not at first. As they run into one another a few more times, they spend one passionate night in bed. In the morning Scott is gone without even leaving a note. Once again, he has left her. When Cleo finds out that she is pregnant, she is not sure what to do. Having dealt with body dysmorphia in the past she is worried about dealing with a growing body. She is also still in love with Scott, but he had agreed to help raise the child, but not as a couple. Will they get back together? Will his old girlfriend Natalie get a hold of him again?

There is humour as well as angst in this story. Besides the fact that Cleo got herself pregnant, this could be a Hallmark Movie. Two twenty or thirty somethings dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, single parenthood, parents who dislike each other and some cranky hospital employees all add up to a nice romantic read. If you like feel good romance stories, then pick this one up, you will definitely enjoy it. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

After Cleo's battle with her body dysmorphia and her weight, she finally found her place in the world with Scott. But apparently that wasn't meant to be, since they broke up. A year later, Scott pops back into her life with life-changing consequences.

Even though The Summer of Hopes and Dreams wasn't really a light read for me, because of the weight-struggles and the familiarity of it all, I was happy that A Winter's Wish Come True did have a lighter air to it. Although Cleo still struggles with her body dysmorphia, it's less prominent and doesn't demand all the attention.
It was a cozy, quick and fun read that had splashes of drama, struggles and tears throughout it all.

As the song goes, guess it's true I'm not good at a one-night stand.

I loved how Cleo was more sure of herself than she was in the first book, which makes sense since she's feeling a lot better, gained a lot of confidence and has built the life she wanted for herself.
Scott, on the other hand, ended up disappointing me a bit with how things went between him and Cleo at first. Although I understood his actions, I simply wished he would've handled everything differently.

If there's one thing I have to remark on, it's the way some conversations felt forced. Dialogue between the main characters and their family / friends was fluent, but as soon as there was a stranger in the mix, a nurse for example, things got pretty forced very fast. As if the characters were reading their lines off a piece of paper without any feeling to it.

And have I really left Chunky Monkey behind if I'm worrying about how my body will change?

In the end, it's still a beautiful story of two people trying to find each other again because life needs them to get along.

4/5

Somehow until just before I started this book I didn't twig that it was a sequel to A Season of Hopes and Dreams that was released a few months ago. However I am delighted that it was as it made getting into this story that bit easier, as I was already familiar with the characters's histories.

Easily one of my favourite things from this book besides the story, the writing, the characters and the duelling grandmothers to be, is the sheer amount of references to Friends, one of my favourite sitcoms of all times. From Dr. Drake Ramoray, to the portrait of Gladys plus other references each one really made me smile, and wonder just how large a fan Lynsey James must be!

Back to the main story, well this is great, I loved seeing how Cleo and Scott who are now broken up deal with Cleo's pregnancy. Even better is seeing how Cleo's old arch nemesis Amanda fits into the story this time, as well as seeing how the two prospective sets of grand parents will react.

This is a book that takes place over the best part of a year, and I enjoyed seeing how the story developed. Whether this can actually be read as a standalone, I'm not sure, I think you would benefit from reading the equally fabulous first book, before starting this, which would be no hardship.

Once again in a Lynsey James review I can only state how much I admire this author, and continually look forward to future releases from her, and this is no exception. A Winter's Wish Comes True is a nicely written, easy and quick to read book, that isn't heavy on festive cheer but ultimately there may just be a Christmas present to remember!

Thank you so much to HQ Digital and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A Winters Wish come true by Lynsey James a five-star read that will have you wishing upon a star. This is my first read by this author and what a read, it will have you laughing and crying, the story will touch you so much it’s not just about a couple meeting and falling in and out of love and then hooking up again, it’s so much deeper than that. Cleo as a character was someone I adored, she has faced battles and hardships and come out the other side, not stronger yet, but one day. All of the characters have been well plotted and have great stories, they are well rounded and you really care about them. Scott started as someone I was a little mmm about but then, he pulled it together and finally started to be someone I really liked.
What could have been a will they won’t they pregnancy romance, developed into something so much more. This story was amazing and I will definitely be looking out for the next read by this author.

I received this book through Netgalley.

This was so boring.
When Cleo’s ex boyfriend comes back from Australia they share the night and she gets pregnant. That’s it.
This book was not descriptive at all. We don’t know anything about the main character except that she’s a baker, she’s pregnant and she has body dysmorphia. Which, by the way, is addressed in such a shallow way that made me feel very angry.
Reading this novel was like watching a pregnancy reality show. We don’t know anything about the characters, how they look like, how they feel (except for pregnancy related symptoms), we can’t get attached to them because they are just some spots in the story, puppets in the big scheme of pregnancy.

Plus, how is it possible that you get pregnant with your ex boyfriend, you don’t want a child (especially with him)... and the word “abortion” never comes to your mind? Not even once. She’s pregnant and she’s gonna have the baby, but the thing is that no one asks her that, she doesn’t think about that, it’s like that’s the only option she has. Well, in 2017, this seems very shallow to me.

Having LOVED Lynsey James' previous book, 'The Summer of Hopes and Dreams', I was so excited to be able to re-visit Cleo and Scott. I was so looking forward to finding out what the pair had been up to in between books. Was Cleo finally happy? Had she reached a compromise with her demons?

Poor Cleo isn't as happy as I thought she would have been. When we left her in the previous book, things seemed like they were starting to look up a bit for her, like she had finally gotten a break from all of the hard situations she had found herself in over the years. Before delving into 'A Winter's Wish', I had everything crossed that I was going to fall in love with the book as much as I did the first. Unfortunately that wasn't really the case.

Why? Because I felt that Cleo had come so far and grown up a lot in the first book, to then feeling that she had lost some of her maturity. Don't get me wrong, Cleo's heart was in the right place and I felt for her once again in regards to her own personal demons but when it came to light that Cleo was pregnant, that's when I felt myself going a bit 'hmmm'. Having had eating and confidence issues since the age of five, as well as finding it hard to come to terms with my body changing drastically, I found Cleo's insight to be a little bit hard unbelievable. I do understand that writing a storyline involving pregnancy when you've not been pregnant yourself, can be extremely difficult - I'm not disputing that at all and I can tell that the author has worked extremely hard in regards to her research. But for me, the way that that part of the storyline was handled wasn't my cup of tea and unfortunately it let the book down.

Aside from that, I did enjoy the majority of the storyline. 'A Winter's Wish' really is a heart-warming, cosy read for romantics everywhere. Even though I couldn't gel with a part of the book, I still found myself rooting for Cleo and Scott again and, as an unromantic person such as myself, even I was convinced by their love story. Lynsey James really has portrayed their love incredibly well and it actually made my heart soar.

A lovely and cosy second book in a series, Lynsey James has kept the romance level intact throughout both books by making her readers fall in love with Cleo and Scott all over again.

I read and thoroughly enjoyed A Season of Hopes and Dreams a few weeks ago so I was delighted to see A winter’s Wish Come True hot on it’s heels.

So nice to be back with Cleo and her friends. I think it would be beneficial to read these books in order just for a smooth transition and why deprive yourself of a great read!

Poor Cleo is trying to get over the break up with Scott, she is determined to move forward but fate seems to step in and they bump into each other a couple of times and her resolve weakens enough for a one night stand.

Fast forward and the symptoms she is having point to pregnancy! How will Scott react to the news? Once again Lynsey delves into the feelings of all involved brilliantly. She writes with such ease to ensure the reader experiences the emotions.

I already had a soft spot for Cleo and now watching her come to terms with being a parent is lovely. Scott is a bit harder to like initially but as time goes on his personality shines through.

A truly endearing book, not overly Christmassy but with enough references to make it the perfect winter read. Can romance reign supreme or will Scott and Cleo just have parenthood in common? I did relate heavily to one part of this story which always makes it feel special.

Another highly enjoyable book by Lynsey James, my thanks to her, the publisher and Neverland Blog Tours for my copy and my place on the tour. I read and reviewed voluntarily.

*** ARC provided by the author for an honest review ***

Life isn’t going quite how Cleo planned in A Winter’s Wish Come True by Lynsey James. An unexpected surprise and many decisions need to be made in order to find direction in her life.

Cleo Jones has been single for a year. And after all this time, she is still devastated from the break up with her boyfriend. She questions her decision to not go with him, and his decision to leave her behind, but she is living her life to the fullest. Her bucket list is slimming down, and she is looking to possibly add more. She has been a year free from her eating disorder, and the possibility of life is just really bright right now.

Scott Robinson has been away from Cleo for a year. He has thought about her every day that he has been gone. He regrets his decision to leave, and now that he is back, he is determined to fight for the love that he has lost.

Both Cleo and Scott did not handle their reunion in the best way possible. Cleo is afraid that if she and Scott were to get back together, that he would leave again. Scott is fighting for a chance to make her see that things could be beautiful together, but they are both scared. And now, there is a baby on the way. How can they live and love and raise their baby together?

Cleo and Scott are wonderful characters. I feel as if their situation is one that many people find themselves in. They had different ideas of what life and instead of compromising and staying together, they made choices that maybe weren’t the right ones. But love always finds a way, I truly believe that. And these two prove that.

I really liked this book. Scott and Cleo’s characters were well written. The supporting characters were great. Their mothers were hilarious. It is a great holiday read. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a story of lost love, and the ability to gain it again. Five stars.

This book follows on the story from A Season Of Hopes & Dreams however you can totally read it as a stand alone story as everything is explained & there are events between the books that separate the stories.
This is one of those sweet, uplifting, cosy reads that sometimes you just need, to reaffirm and escape in to. Reading this story is like catching up with an old friend and telling each other the juicy bits; there's drama, friendships, jealousy and heartache to share.

I read and reviewed Lynsey’s book The Season of Hopes and Dreams earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the concept of story and as I don’t usually read Chick-Lit / Women’s Fiction anymore (no offence at all to those genre writers but I think it’s normal for our tastes to change and adapt), it was a nice change to the normal Thriller’s I was reading. So when the sequel came out, A Winter’s Wish Come True, I knew I had to read it to find out what was next for Cleo and Scott – two characters I came to really like. Whilst this book can be read as a standalone, now having read it, I would suggest reading the first one as well because I think it would make it a more well-rounded story with a bit more background info.

So A Winter’s Wish Come True picks up with Cleo and Scott a year after the first book ends. You last see them in a happy relationship, with Cleo’s previous mental health issues relating to food, eating disorders and body dysmorphia dramatically improving and everything looks like it’s on the up and up. Except it’s not. Their relationship turned sour when Scott flew off to Australia, leaving Cleo behind and a blazing row which they left on. Now, Scott’s back and spends one fiery night with Cleo but weeks later, Cleo finds out she’s pregnant and their relationship is about to get a whole lot more complicated. Can they give it another go? Or can Cleo cope with being a single mum? Add in competitive in-laws, old flames and enemies and a few pregnancy scares and Cleo and Scott are in for the 9 months of their life.

In theory, this book is everything I should hate. Romantic? Check. Sappy? Check. A sickeningly sweet happy ending? Check. But I didn’t hate it at all. And I’m not just saying that because Lynsey is my friend (and I’m not going into the whole spiel about how my reviews are unbiased – we all know that by now). It had a few things that I didn’t absolutely love of course but on a whole, it made me laugh (like, really laugh), it definitely made me cry and it made me just feel… warm. And fuzzy. And inspired. And I think all those ingredients make for a pretty solid novel. The first thing I should point out is that I instantly thought that Lynsey’s writing had matured in this book. Compared to A Season of Hopes and Dreams, the language and approach to the story felt fine-tuned, from a readers point of view. And if anything, this has just got me even more excited for what Lynsey’s going to be writing next.

One little gripe I had with it; Cleo’s reaction to Scott going off to Australia and then leaving her house the night after they slept together. I did feel she over-reacted a bit and was a little mean. For the first third or so of the book I thought their arguments about it was a little repetitive but… I can admit that in a situation like that, I would have been exactly like Cleo. I can hold a grudge like a good’un, so I totally understand why she couldn’t let it slide.

I really liked the whole story being around Cleo’s pregnancy because I don’t often read that in books. It was amusing, especially reading about how she has to juggle her relationship/non-relationship with Scott, plus her mum and his mum being at each others throats. There was a particularly hilarious scene where they all went shopping together and whilst it was all very over-the-top, I bloody loved it to the point where I had to ring Lynsey and tell her how funny I thought it was. You really get a little bit of everything in this book, as I said earlier, it made me laugh but it also made me cry a few times. One particular sad scene around halfway through had me choking back tears and Lynsey did a really great job at getting across Cleo’s emotions here and it was heart-breaking. So thanks friend for making me cry.

In the first book, Cleo was a shell of a character. She was insecure, had had severe problems with eating disorders and body dysmorphia which she was still battling and just generally felt like a broken person. But she was completely transformed in this book and I loved seeing that. She made a bucket list in book 1, a lot of which she managed to tick off. And in A Winter’s Wish Come True, she really stepped up as an inspiring role-model of a character. She felt very real and I’ve definitely come away from these books happy and satisfied with her story and looking at her as a friend. Whilst misery guts over here (me), might not like romance and sap and found some parts of the book a little too sappy (there’s only so much sap I can take you know), this book is just perfect for a cosy read, especially for romance fans, on a cold, Winter’s night. I’ve loved Cleo’s story and I’ll be sad to say goodbye to her.

A Winter’s Wish Come True, Lynsey James

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, women's fiction

A shortish, seasonal read, just under 2800 kindle locations. If light and fun, little sections such as the baby shopping with the two grandmothers, and the dinner from hell made me snigger even while feeling sad for Cleo and Scott, caught up in family issues and  granny rivalry.

I could see why they split but was sad that it came to that, that they didn't try to make long distance work for them. they're now two unhappy people. Scott is back now though - so what happens next?
Well, a brief hot re-union and...Cleo is pregnant. A shock at first but Scott is solidly there behind her, and its clear he wants a second chance, or in Cleo's view after the way he decamped at their last encounter, maybe its a thrid one and she's not sure her heart can take it.
I got a bit irritated at the way Cleo seems determined to see and think the worst of Scott. He admits he over-reacted when Australia came up - but then so did she, and he explains what happened the next time. I could see her hurt but the guy is doing his best and I was cross at her negativity.

The other character here were good supporting cast, the school bully who's moved back, catalyst to Cleo body issues, but though her life seems perfect, is it really? Then there's Natalie, Scott's ex, willowy, gorgeous model, who's back on the scene. Is she trying to get Scott back, how can pregnant, lumpy Cleo stand up against her looks? Well, that's the way Cleo sees it, but is she right?
I did find it odd that both of Scott's girlfriends had body issues though...

Its a fun read, but pretty light, and I felt for me its a bit too sweet'n'happy, lacked the drama that balances the sweetness.
I had high hopes for Natalie or Amanda in that direction, but they only provided subtle light distractions.

Stars: Three, a fun read, but a bit short and fluffy for me.

I received an ARC of A Winter’s Wish Come True by Lynsey James via NetGalley.
I let you love me, I trusted you, and you fucked it up twice. Not me, you. So spare me the armchair psychology,Scott. I’ve got bigger things to worry about right now, like having our baby.’

I’ll be honest, Cleo made me want to pull out my hair. I can’t begin to recall a more indecisive, emotionally wrecked, and completely irrational, drama queen than Cleopatra Jones (that name made me laugh out loud because ...seriously?).

After her estranged lover returns, and knocks her up, the two go on a far too long path of will they/won’t they get back together?. Whilst on this too long path, we’re treated to nonsensical issues; I can’t tell you how many times I literally rolled my eyes at the hot mess that is Cleo.

Scott, her potential suitor, spends the better part of his time needing a message decoder because Cleo is ridiculously indecisive ...and perhaps a bit self-centered, too. At least in my opinion.

By the time it’s clear what will become of these two—a fate that is, as you’d expect, no surprise—you’re just hoping they’ll move on to an actual problem.

I didn’t dislike this book, on the contrary, I thought it was an entertaining holiday read. I just felt the central conflict didn’t merit the time it took to get resolved.

Scott and Cleo could have squashed their problems early, if Cleo weren’t such an enormous drama queen, and maybe more attention could’ve been given to her relationship with Zara, Emma, or Amanda—all of whom offered far more interesting storylines than Cleo.

End of the day, if you’re looking for a light-hearted read, with mostly likable characters, and an ending you can definitely see coming ...you could do much worse than this one.

The Blurb :
Being pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s baby is the last thing on Cleo Jones’s Christmas wish list. Scott might have been the man of her dreams once upon a time, but things change and now Cleo faces a future as a single mum… Or does she?
Scott won’t let Cleo go through this alone; whatever their differences he’s vowed to be there, from antenatal classes to night feeds and nappy changing. The two agree to bring up their baby as friends – but as Cleo’s bump grows, so do their feelings for each other.
Cleo can’t be sure if it’s her heart of her hormones urging her to give Scott a second chance – but getting back together could be the best Christmas present of all!

My Thoughts :
So glad to be back with Cleo Jones and the gang. Although this can be read as a standalone, its much better to of read the first book, A Season of Hopes and Dreams so you can familiarise yourself with the charactors.
Cleo and Scott had broken up a year ago after Scott went to live in Austraila. Cleo hasnt yet found another boyfriend as she is slowly putting her life back together after the break up and trying to find herself.
Whille out one night, Cleo bumps into Scott and they have a one night stand. Whille Cleo clearly wants more, Scott has again done a runner.
When Cleo finds out she is pregnant with Scott’s baby, she tells him and he promises to be involved with the baby and bring the child up as friends. He doesnt want any romantic involvement with Cleo but can things change?.
I really enjoy books from Lynsey James, she has the ability to give out a great story with easy reading. I really enjoyed being back in the life of Cleo and Scott. Once again there are great supporting cast too. Fab read especially over the festive period.

After loving A Season Of Hopes And Dreams (review here ), I was thrilled to jump STRAIGHT into this, A Winter’s Wish Come True, returning to see what had and would happen with Cleo and Scott. Books with pregnancy and babies or kiddies bundled up with comedy and romance are right up my street and I looked forward to seeing how Ms. Jame approached the whole thing. We start off somewhere along the street we ended up in (don’t worry, no spoilers for the last book!), with Cleo still attacking that bucket list; she’s taking a skydive and turning down her instructor for a date. As the blurb says, she’s broken up with Scott, which is a shock, and I was dying to see what had happened and why. As always, Cleo is always full of surprises and I settled in. The pregnancy of course comes as a shock and I loved the brilliantly done ‘it can’t be THAT!’ moment. There are many captivating moments in this book and a return to some of the characters we’d met before, although here, we’re used to them and so settle into enjoying her friends, and her family (her mother, although pushy, stole my heart.’ We also meet old acquaintances, some not so friendly, and issues that she thought she had conquered, the psychology of which was captivating. I highlighted as I went, chortled, ohhed and made shocked faces as I flew through this excellent book that will make any chick lit lover happy out this Christmas. Could be read as a standalone but to be honest I’d go enjoy them both! Thanks so much to Netgalley and HQ digital for this book in return for an honest review.

After meeting Cleo and Scott in A Season of Hopes and Dreams I loved their connection and if there was ever a couple to root for it would be them. I'm sure most of us have wondered if our favourite couples really do get that perfect ending after The End. Well A Winter's Wish Come True shows you that maybe that isn't always the case. This book could be read as a standalone because it is like a new story but you would be missing out on how Cleo and Scott met.

It's a light read that was easy to get into and I loved catching up with this pair even if things weren't exactly rosy between them. Nothing is plain sailing for Cleo and there was plenty of drama woven into the story and I was hoping things would turn out okay in the end. There were a few occasions where they both kept saying the wrong things and I did want to shake some sense into them. However with plenty of emotion and hurt feelings it was hard for them to see the bigger picture. It's been a lovely journey following the ups and downs that Cleo has been through but it's also been fun reading too!

Cleo and Scott were a couple, however pushed back together by the unexpected pregnancy, their baby may just push the two now friends back together as a couple once again as the pair face up to their shared future.

Scott now back from Australia after wishing to win Cleo back also has his work cut out now proving to everyone around them including baker Cleo's best friend's Emma and Zara he'll actually stick around this time!

There's also another added factor of an old face showing herself and also being pregnant too but just what secret does she hide?

The book also had a deeper undertone to those issues the main protagonists face up to as Cleo also has a history with body dysmorphia and bulimia which made the story more gripping and deep as I've not read a fiction book facing both pregnancy and body issues in one go before and Lynsey was sensitive but honest in how such a battle would be.

An emotional, turbulent book about love and finding out it's never easy letting a precious love go despite all the up's and down's, this is a perfect read full of drama throughout the whole pregnancy journey Cleo goes through.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

As normal I start with the cover and blurb. I love how it's exactly the same as the previous book just different colours. The tree in the background is SO CUTE and Christmassy. Then we come to the blurb. THE BLURB PEOPLE. CLEO IS PREGNANT!!!! YAAAAAS.

In the beginning of the book, I found it a little hard to focus because as we are brought up to speed on what's happened. The scenes cut and change quite a bit which was a little disorientating. I found myself relating to a lot of things in this book, for example, I am the one trying to convince my other half to move to Australia!

Even though Amanda is technically the antagonist of the previous book, I absolutely love her as a character and was so glad to see her back again. Cleo goes on a pretty emotional journey over the course of this book and I felt every single one of them with her.

The ending was absolutely perfect. Overall, another beautifully written story which is perfect sir snuggling up on the sofa with.

There is plenty of mileage to be got from returning to Cleo and Scott and much has changed since the end of A Season of Hopes and Dreams. The pair have split up and Scott has spent the time in Australia. It was great to catch up with all the characters again and the pair of 'frenemies', ie their mothers, made me smile. All the humourous touches are still there and their passive aggressive remarks to each are genius.

I liked the way both Cleo and Scott's characters seemed to develop throughout the book. The darker issues of body dismorphia and eating disorders are still there in the background, giving the story a bit of edge. There are enough wintry touches in there to make this a good read for the season and I am already wondering what Cleo and Scott will do next.

In short: a romance with a great deal of heart.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.

I received this book for free from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I didn't realize immediately that this was a sequel to The Summer of Hopes and Dreams but I finally realized it when the characters seemed so familiar. Then I went back and looked at her previous book and realized this was a sequel! My only (minor) complaint is that I wish authors would label their books that are in a series. I would be very disappointed if I read this book before the previous one because it wouldn't be as fun to go back and read the first one in the series after the fact.

I really loved this book as I have all of her previous novels. It was really nice getting to catch up with Cleo and see what she is up to. This was such a cute, feel-good book to get me in the Christmas spirit. I just hope there is a third in the series!

Cleo was really happy with Scott until he took a job in Australia and dumped her, but that was a year ago and she has moved on hasn't she....... so why is it such a shock when she walks into a pub and he is back!
After a few run ins they have a one night stand but he is gone again in the morning and left her with a baby!

Scott is determined that he will support her and be involved in the baby's life... but how will that work out..... will they just be friends?

Great to be back with a catch up on Cleo's life, I really like this authors style of writing it is light and easy to read even though it can be about difficult subjects

Cleo is a mess- she's overcome lots of issues but she's still got problems making decisions. Now, however, she's pregnant with Scott's baby. They were a couple once but he walked away so she's afraid it's going to happen again. Don't judge, just read this as a couple trying to find their way to one another. There are are some laughs, the dialogue is good, and you're going to find yourself both shaking your head and rooting for this pair. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is a fast diversionary read that's good for the season.

This was a super cute story and a really fun easy read for the holiday season. Although most of the book is set in the months before Christmas it ends on a festive note. I loved following Cleo through her pregnancy (it brought back so many of my own pregnancy memories) and though her and Scott did things in an unconventional way, they did them their way and I loved that about them!

DNF at 25%.
I am not enjoying this story, I don’t like the main character, Cleo, and the writing is not that wonderful so I’m quitting here.

I didn't realise that this book was the sequel to A Season of Hopes and Dreams until I started reading the book. Even then I was not 100% sure, the names sounded so familiar. It was great to be back in Cleo's life again and see what her new challenges were.

Her boyfriend Scott left her to go to Australia, but now he is back and things aren't easy. And the. Out of the blue she finds herself being pregnant with his baby. After that they are on and off and noboday really knows what's going on between them. This was when for me the book got a bit draggy and very predictable. Don't get me wrong I read a lot of chick-lit, but I really started struggling here.

Lynsey has a wonderful writing style. It flows beautifully and she always finds the right words. There were just parts of the storyline I didn't particularly like and some of the characters' decisions didn't make any sense for me. I couldn't really relate to any of them, which is a real pity.

I have read Lynsey James' previous books and I think she is really talented. This book just didn't do it for me.

A Winter’s Wish Come True is a story about second chances at love and new beginnings. Not having read other books by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading the book and it didn’t disappoint. At the beginning of the story we get to meet Cleo Jones, a baker who is still struggling to move on from her previous break-up with her boyfriend, Scott. Her friends have been very supportive and there for her, but when she sees Scott again things immediately change. After he was offered a job in Australia, Scott basically left her to pick up the pieces, but Cleo can’t get over him and that leads her back to him. It is after a couple of weeks that she starts to get sick and finds out that she is pregnant that her life has changed forever. Now she has to figure out where she stands with Scott and if decide if she wants him in her life or not.

Scott Robinson has always loved Cleo and it hurt him to leave her behind when he was offered a job in Australia, but he is back now and ready to make things work with her (if she lets him). When he finds out that she is pregnant, Scott is ready to make things work with Cleo, but their past keeps getting in the way and now he has to convince her that they’re perfect for each other before it’s too late. I throughly enjoyed reading this story, it was quick and romantic. Scott was sweet and caring, definitely swoon worthy! On the other hand, Cleo had her doubts throughout the story, she wanted to make the right decision for her baby and it all worked out in the end. Although both of the characters had flaws, they made them work by helping each other. The epilogue will melt your heart, it was sweet and short. I would highly recommend it, it makes a great holiday read. :)

As I mentioned at the beginning of the post I'm taking a break from my usual genre of thrillers to read something a little more light hearted.

It wasn't until after I started reading this book that I realised that it was the sequel to Lynsey's earlier book A Season of Hopes and Dreams, which I hadn't read. However, there was no point in the story where I felt I had missed anything, so it's safe to say that this book can be read as a standalone book.

Cleopatra Jones is slowly getting over her break up with Scott and is happily moving on with her life when they bump into each other. Old feelings are rekindled and the two of them get together again, although only for one night. Jumping forward several weeks and a trip to the hospital confirms what the reader already knows - she is pregnant.

Having only just met these characters I did find myself warming to them quickly, although there were times when I found myself looking for twists in the plot that never came (but I think you can thank my obsession with thrillers for that).

Lynsey's writing totally drew me in and I found myself wanting to read 'just one more chapter'; before long I  realised I'd finished.

This book is perfect for snuggling up on a cold winter's night and although there are references to Christmas, it's not an overly Christmas book. All in all it's a lovely quick read, perfect for this time of year.
