Mason's Rescue

Rate this book
Welcome to Burnt River, a new series of Contemporary Western Romance stories set in the fictional town of Burnt River, Montana. Brought to you by Shirleen Davies, Peggy L Henderson, Kay P. Dawson, Amelia Adams, and Kate Cambridge. When your life's plans change in a heartbeat, you have a choice... Do you give up? Mason Taggart's one goal in life has always been to become Burnt River's veterinarian. In the blink of an eye, an accident leaves him bound to a wheelchair, shattering his dreams. Since no one can tell him for sure if he will ever walk again, he sinks deeper into despair as time passes. Starting over seems impossible, until he gets an unexpected nudge from the new vet in town. Do you run away? Coming from a long line of surgeons, Lori Emerson made the choice to go against family tradition and strike out on her own in a different direction. Fighting against long-held stereotypes and her own demons, she finds temporary solitude in small-town living, until her past catches up with her. Leaning on the hometown boy for support might force them both to confront their deepest fears. Do you take a chance and face the unknown with someone you love? Mason is convinced he's unable to continue in his career because of his handicap. Lori's insecurities prevent her from doing her job effectively. As they struggle alone, will they realize they are stronger together, both professionally and as a couple? Mason's Rescue is a standalone, full-length novel with a HEA Rated PG - contains some mild swearing and kissing

I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.

I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.

Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right?
It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.

A wonderfully written uplifting romance with captivating characters you might just meet in your small town diner, the lobby of your local vets office, a physical therapy appt or other everyday location. Ms Henderson delivers a perfect fit to the Burnt River series. I loved Mason and his family and their never quit attitude and charming family dynamic. While Lori, running from her own fears still finds it within herself to encourage Mason to not let his fear of life altering injuries keep him from fighting for his dreams. In doing so, Lori faces her own fears and ends up discovering her own dream come true happy ever after.

When I read Shane's Burden (Burnt River Contemporary Western Romance Book 1) I fell in love with this new series. I didn't think anything could top a story that had a match-making horse but I was wrong.

Mason's Rescue was incredible. I loved how both Mason and Lori are both strong individuals that had no problem taking the other to task. Their compassion for each other really made this a wonderful story to read. The fact that they rescued each other made this a winner.

I am really looking forward to the next book by Peggy in this series.

Really enjoyable book

Over the years I've been able to empathise w I th people who have suffered traumatic injuries but you never really understand until you go through something similar that you fully understand it.
This book touches on dealing with recovery after an incomplete spinal cord injury and the emotions that go along with it that others just cannot fully comprehend. Having recently suffered a similar spinal cord injury, I related really well to Mason and shared most of his feelings.
This book details the experiences in a really dignified manner.

Mason and Lori's Story
This is a great series and this story is no exception. I couldn't put it down. I loved the storyline and the characters that were in it. Lori and Mason had their own fears and pride, but could they come together to help each other when most needed or would their fears and pride keep them apart.
This was full of emotion and very well written................
