I am very surprised that this book turned out to be actually better than every single My Little Pony movie and short that I have watched so far. Well, the quality might be different if this book is adapted into a movie or a series, but I adore the story and the character moments in this book. It made me want a movie or a series based from this book because of how good the story and the characters were written.

The Equestria Girls are not trying to save the world, but they are simply spending time with each other. The book makes Twilight Sparkle a more interesting character as she learns more about friendship. She is not Princess Twilight, so she is still new to this whole friendship thing, despite the new friends she made in Canterlot High. I love how, along the way, she builds trust, confidence, and closeness among her friends, and it's not like she warmed up to them immediately. It's the activities that they do that makes you feel-good and puts a huge smile on your face.

This book made the Crystal Prep girls more well-rounded characters. In My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Friendship Games, they were just like typical bullies and rivals. In this book, there was a character arch to them, which is one of the strongest points of this book. I love how Twilight Sparkle invited the Crystal Prep girls, and it shows how much she grows as a friend. The Canterlot girls and the Crystal Prep girls did not go well together at first, but I'm glad that both parties learned from each other and became friends with one another.

I like how this book is still connected to the movies where it takes place after Friendship Games and before Legend of Everfree. I wish we got to see how Rarity talked to the Crystal Prep girls when she invited them to her spa party. At the end of the story, the book features two chapters of the book version of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Friendship Games. After that, there are few pages of games to play and tips from certain characters of what to do in a sleepover.

This is a fun and enjoyable book to read. If you are a fan of the Equestria Girls movies, shorts, and specials, you have to read this book.

I should be honest and day I had no real interest in reading this book. But we allow our children to pick their own books, especially when they earn them for reading. But having said that it ended up being a great way to start summer reading with my oldest. First it was a book my daughter was really interested in; second, the reading level was perfect for where my daughter is at. And third it ended up being much better than I ever expected. The story was better than I expected, in fact it was a very good read. My daughter and I read it together over a number of evening alternating pages.

I have not any of the hundreds of hours of My Little Pony shows or specifically the Equestria Girls spin off. I am familiar enough from them being on in the back ground to know the basics. And yet I was truly surprised by the quality of the story.

This book is focuses around Twiglight who has transferred schools. And Things seem much better at her new school and she has real friends for the first time. But mean girls from her old school cause her to doubt the friendships and that she can really be a friend.

Soon she starts to figure out what true friendship is and even reach out to the mean girls from her old school. My daughter's favorite part was her attempts to help the girls from her old school learn what true friendship really is.

Overall this was an age appropriate book, at a good vocabulary level. It also had a pretty good message. And is actually well written. Would I ever read these books myself, no, unlike many other children's and young adult books, these just do not appeal to me. Will I read more with my daughter absolutely.

Love it!
Tough when the Crystal Prep girls come to the sleepover, it changed stuff.
They ruined the sleepover till' Twilight spread out the crafting stuff. A.K.A she put out stuff to make Friendship Bracelets.
