Burn With Me

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author R.G. Alexander, Book 1 in the Fireborne Series.
Aziza Jane Stewart is living on borrowed time, and making a few mistakes in London seems like a good way to go out with a bang. But when two compelling strangers draw her into an ancient conflict, she realizes her curse isn’t about death at all…it’s about the power within her.

The sexy giant following her says he can smell trouble on her skin, the smokeless fire and magic of the demons he was born and bred to hunt. Brandon may be an enforcer, but his reaction to her is anything but adversarial. Ram, her new Jinn shadow, will do whatever it takes to come between them, and he’s just as hard for Aziza to resist.

When her dark family legacy burns to the surface, whom can Aziza trust? The alpha male who pushes all her hot buttons, the Jinn who seduces her in dreams, or the emerging Fireborne within? As danger circles closer, she must learn to embrace her newfound powers—and trust someone with her heart—before she becomes the final casualty.

Warning: Explicit content, magic, danger, voyeurism, chains, a secret ménage and carnal deeds of devilish debauchery at every other turn. Basically…fasten your seatbelts and get ready to burn.

How do I feel about the new series by RG Alexander?

Need I say more? No! But I think I will :)

To say that I devoured Burn With Me would be an understatement. Once I started, I was enthralled.Sexy, witty, and full of dark surprises. Each page turn revealed a multitude of layers to this mystical world. A world that Aziza Jane Stewart had no idea existed until she stumbled into it. Aziza is a full of life adventurer, filling everyday with as much pleasure, excitement, and thrills as she can because she believes she is cursed to not live much longer.

Aziza has traveled to London with her friend Greg and once they get there things... odd things begin to happen. Coincidences, seeing things, hearing and feelings things that just can't be. Small pieces of her life being to make to unravel and make sense, but how could it be? Mystical worlds and beings don't exist, or do they? Now that Aziza has glimpsed the world of Jinn, Enforcers, and unimaginable creatures she must make choices that will impact everyone she cares for and those she does not even know.

Death, chaos, magic, and sex drives this arousing magnetic new series by author RG Alexander. The label of "Urban Fantasy" does not say enough about Burn With Me or it series... while you get the paranormal, otherworldly side you also get the treat of sensual characters, deep ancient secrets, and a mystery so profound one book is not enough to tell the whole story. So get ready to be enchanted by this captivating new series.

Burn With Me is the first in a new series by RG Alexander. It is a fast passed challenge of a book that keeps you on your toes, and your mind always wondering what the heck can possibly happen next and who can we trust. Aziza is feisty gal who will not meekly fold to the whim of those around her. Each of the men in her life from her best friend to her protector, and her “stalker” want for their own agenda. They quickly learn that she isn’t some easily lead around by the nose kind of girl.

Aziza has known for two years that she is destined to die soon, and she decided to live life to the fullest before she goes. She has dragged her best friend Greg on a whirlwind trip to fulfill her ever changing and growing bucket-list. When their trip leads them to London and the only family she has left on this Earth, her true destiny makes its appearance, and brings along a list of characters that keep you guessing if they are truly out to protect her or out to destroy her.

The world that opens up with the knowledge of her birthright and the powers that come with it is not one that she would have chosen for herself. When she meets not one but two ungodly sexy irresistible men that are a part of this battle, she has a hard time controlling her desires for them. But will allowing them in her life cause her more grief, or help her in this battle she didn’t know she was a part of?

I absolutely love this world that RG has created for us. I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us in this world. I can’t recommend this book enough! :)

Aziza Jane Stewart believes she is cursed and therefore has a few months to live. What's a girl to do in this situation? Grab her best friend Greg and head out on an adventure to complete her bucket list. Death has a creepy way of following Aziza, strangers around her keep dying and knows it is coming after her. Deciding to spread her wings across the pond she decides to go visit the only real family she has left, her Aunt. While visit the sites of London she notices a hot hunky giant is following her. Soon Aziza is learning about her family secrets and why her brothers were truly killed. She now has magical bodyguards she doesn't trust and powers she doesn't know how use. One of her Jinn bodyguards has been entering her dreams at night and showing her a sensual world that she can't seem to get enough of.

I loved this story, Aziza is torn between two very sexy alpha males and they are both willing to show her pleasures she can't seem to get enough of. I also like the fact that we are learning the information about Aziza's past right along with her. The surprises just keep coming and I can't wait for the second book!

Aziza Jane Stewart lives her life like there's no tomorrow...because she believes she is cursed to die when she turns twenty seven. There are things she doesn't know about her family, and herself, things that will slowly become evident as she lives day to day. With lots of action, R.G. Alexander has created a world filled with memorable and intriguing characters, and mysteries abound. There are secrets to be revealed, and challenges to be met, and no less than three hot guys to choose from: Enforcer (and shifter) Brandon, Jinn guardian Ram, and human BFF Gregory Prophet. This first book in Ms. Alexander's newest series is a very engaging book, and I can't wait for more in this world with Aziz Jane and her family and friends.

Yummy start to a urban fantasy series. Love the characters. They aren't perfect which makes the story that much more interesting. The author has definitely reeled me in with an intriguing story line and well rounded characters. She also writes some smoking sex scenes. Really looking forward to the next.

Burn with Me is uniquely fresh and sexy as hell, with a heroine who’s complex, unpredictable and altogether charming. As for the men in her life...they're all so delicious, you'll have a hard time picking a team. This is R.G. Alexander's best book yet and I can't wait for the next one!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
*eARC Received from the Author in exchange for an honest review
-Actual Rating 4.5 Skulls

A wonderfully surprising and fresh erotic urban fantasy created in a world that I cannot wait to get lost in again and again, with characters that will stick with me for quite some time... I had thought that the well was running dry for my favorite authors to come up with unique material to capture my attention and keep me riveted, but RG did exactly that with Burn With Me.

Our heroine - fearless, funny, energetic and enigmatic Aziza Jane Stewart takes off for Europe with her best friend (loyal, witty, and charismatic, Greg)following some serious family tragedy to check off some items on her Bucket List - why not live every day to it's fullest when you think you're going to die before you're thirty!? While there, she finds herself at the heart of some serious weirdness and learns more about herself and her family than she ever really wanted to know though.

With non-stop action, R.G created a world full of goodness and intrigue, and between multiple supe-groups, some seriously hunky men, an amazing heroine and surprises galore, you get a book - and series - that will stick with you long after the final page is turned.

I highly recommend this book. It's unique, fresh, fun, sexy, and badass all rolled into one!

With a kick-ass heroine, sinfully sexy heroes and a fresh Erotic Urban Fantasy vibe…what’s not to love about Burn With Me by RG Alexander. The first book in the Fireborne series will leave you smoldering by the end.

Usually when I fall in love with a book it’s because of the characters and in most cases it’s the men that capture my heart. Loyal Greg, swoon-worthy Brandon and the naughty Ram all have a permanent place in my fantasies now, but I have to say with this book, Aziza Jane, the heroine, captivated me. I loved her humor, energy and strength as she handles the men and dark mysteries turning her life upside down.

Wildly creative from beginning to end, you’ll be captivated by the world Ms. Alexander creates but reader be warned. Take the title of this book to heart. You’ll need to cool down after reading the sizzling sex scenes of Burn With Me. I’m still fanning myself off and eagerly waiting for the next book in the series!!!

This book captured me in such a way that I totally lost track of time as I read and literally could not bear to have it end. I find myself now, moments after finishing it, eagerly awaiting the sequel. Aziza Jane is the most fully formed, interesting and "human" character who I have come across in a long time. I will not talk of her multiple worshippers or choose her perfect mate, although I know who I think she should love forever. But, I hate to limit her options when you never know what her future holds. Really fabulous read. Burnin' for the next book!

R.G. Alexander is known for smut. Don't misunderstand it's decent smut but still smut. When I saw this under fantasy I became curios & purchased it.
This book wasn't awful. However it will never be popular to ]Fantasy readers they require more plot then sex.
Going forward I believe I will lower my expectations & continue to read the series. I'm not opposed to smut even if it's masquerading as Fantasy.

I ended up really liking this book. It took me a while to get through the confusion of the first few chapters which I guess can make you feel like the characters do but it was annoying to me. However, the rest of the novel more than makes up for it!

I read it three times. Yes I said three. The first time, I was just so enthralled by the whole story that I devoured it and never paused. Then I had to think about it for a bit. Walk away if you will, because it was so much to take in and I just knew that I loved it. Can’t just write a review that says: I loved it! So after a while I picked it up again for a second read through. Once again, I was just engrossed and before I knew it, I was done.

Reviewer FAIL!

So for the third time I picked it up. This time I stopped and made notes whenever something occurred to me. Like the fact that I felt like I could actually hear Penn (Aziza’s Aunt) talking to me in a posh English accent. I heard it in my head clear as day. Oh and let’s pause for a little cover love! It portrays Aziza perfectly right down to the outfit and the hoop she is sitting in. (Have to read the book to get the reference. No spoilers here.)

This is the first in a brand new series, so we are learning about a whole new world. I love that Ms. Alexander parcels out the information in such a way that we don’t get overwhelmed or bored. It’s always crucial to the story at that time. Of course this means I spent much of the story trying to figure out what “this” meant or guess what “that” signified. Sometimes I was right, and sometimes I was WAY off base. This just adds to the pleasure of my reading the story. We are introduced to new races and magic is the order of the day.

Let’s talk about the heroes! Cause in my eyes, there are three potentials and it is not carved in stone who will ultimately end up with the delightfully impetuous Aziza Jane.

First off we have Gregory Prophet. How great is that name? That’s a hero’s name if I ever heard one. Childhood friend of Aziza, he knows all her moods and emotions. Slightly geeky in a hot, blond god way, he is humorous and protective. Did I mention hot? I am not sure I like the way poor Greg is used and abused in this book. He and Aziza share the same birthday and make a game out of dueling birthday parties. I kind of love Greg!

Next we have Brandon. The “giant, sexy harbinger of doom who keeps stalking me”. At least that is how he is described by Aziza herself early on in the book. I think this big, sexy man hunk is by far my favorite of the three. He knows he shouldn’t want Aziza but he just can’t seem to help himself. He’s supposed to be arresting her, but instead he…well, you’ll have to read to find out.

Last we have Ram, the sexy Jinn who is supposed to be her protector so to speak. He is playful and mischievous, all while being a smoking hot case of walking sex on a stick. Aziza tries to stay away from him but can’t seem to help herself where Ram is concerned. I am not Team Ram. Not at all.

So we have hot guys, non-stop action, prophecies, secret races, murders and a whole lotta magic. I was taken on a wild ride with this book. It is steamy hot and kept me on the edge of my seat, all at the same time. I have so many questions and theories. (Not going to tell them to you because well, you have to READ THE BOOK.) I am dying to know what happens next. By the time I was done reading, I felt like I had been put through the ringer. It just blew me away. If you get the chance to read this book, jump on it.

One last thought: I want to know if St. Dunstans in the East is real. I would LOVE to visit that place. It sounds magical.

Review:

Boy, do I love me some RG Alexander books and this one I think is my new favorite!!!

This story drew me into Aziza's world and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. I loved RG's fresh concept for a world in which Aziza Jane's life is turned inside out when she goes to London to visit her Aunt Penn, with her best friend Greg. Immediately things happen of the supernatural and sexual kind. I am going to stop for a minute and say, Holy Crap!, I wish I had the men that Aziza has :) She is whisked away by Brandon, a super sexy Enforcer and them Ram a Jinn, who is another sexy beast of a man, who tempts her with his naughtiness. I am not picking one, she should get to keep both ( I Loved the secret menage part) ;) The story gets more intriguing when Aziza finds out her true heritage and the reason why her brothers have all died. The ending was so fast paced and dramatic that the story was over before I knew it. I am not going to give away the ending, so go forth and enjoy this great story!!! Really this book is well rounded and has so many great things going for it that I highly recommend reading it!

I am ready for the second book now ;) pretty please :)

What a wild ride! This book wrapped me up in its spell and kept me enthralled all the way to the end. Magical beings and sex, oh my! I have not read any paranormal/kink books up until now but oh boy, am I looking forward to reading book 2 and however many books are to follow in this series!

The heroine of the story, Aziza Jane Stewart, is sure that she is living on borrowed time, the victim of a curse that had taken her mother and brothers away from her at 2 year intervals. Her mother ran away from her children’s Egyptian father to try to protect them but was unable to do anything to halt the inevitable. Now Aziza is the last in her family and with the 2 year mark once again approaching she is determined to live life to the fullest and make her way through her own bucket list. Aziza is in London with her best friend Greg and her Aunt Penn, enjoying all the city has to offer (one of the ‘offerings’ turning out to be really hot outdoor sex with a very attractive supernatural being) But Aziza finds out that it’s not her own death that she should be concerned about but the fact that she is a Fireborne, an otherworldly being with powers that she must learn to control.

I have to admit that I got a bit confused with the different magical beings and factions that were after her and the reasons why they wanted her but that’s probably just me being unused to the paranormal genre. I loved the sex scenes which were really hot especially the ménage sequence in the barn with……well, I will leave that to you to find out for yourselves but it had me squirming in my seat it was so yummy!!!

I greatly admire an author who is able to come up with such detailed other worlds and R.G. Alexander has done an excellent job with interesting characters and plenty of unanswered questions to make you want to dive right into the next book. I highly recommend this book to lovers of the paranormal genre and would suggest that those of you who, like me, have not really been interested in this type of story to read it. You won’t be disappointed.

R.G. Alexander has spoiled me with this story including elements of paranormal, action, adventure, mystery and thought provoking eroticism—every aspect of what I love about books intriguingly woven into this urban fantasy debut novel of the Fireborne series. This story sucked me in and kept me turning pages, revealing layer upon layer of creative world building and gripping characters.

If you knew you were going to die at the age of twenty-seven, what would you do? Faced with this knowledge, Aziza lives it up. She travels the world experiencing new things, scratching each adventure off her bucket list along the way with her human bestie, Greg, and her Aunt Penn. The latest leg of her journey kicks off a series of events that bring into her life a devilishly ornery Jinn guardian, Ram, and his partner Shev; the mysteriously captivating hunk of an Enforcer, Brandon, as well as many more paranorms. The suspense of who’s a helper and who’s a thwarter forcefully drove my need to read on. And while Ram and Brandon helped her along the way, I was torn between which I wanted her to end up with. The barn scene easily answered that question and I’ve got to admit that—by far—this is the most voyeuristic, sinfully distracting, supernatural menage EVER!

I believe R.G. Alexander did an astounding job of resolving some of the conflict set forth in this first installment while in turn ending with a cliffhanger that has me anxious to find out where book #2 will take us.

A distinctive take on erotic urban fantasy. I was immediately drawn into the story as the heroine Aziza Jane Stewart laments about her quest to experience all that she can with zeal & without regret before a family curse catches up with her.
The story evolves quickly as Aziza and her best friend and cohort Greg are immersed into a world of supernatural's that they thought were myths, but find they're very real. Each character introduced is wicked sexy, mysterious, and pivotal in mounting story.
This story is fast paced, sexy, funny at times, and seriously an adventure that I can't wait to read more about. This is a extraordinary start to a series that is already a favorite of mine.

Caught in the middle of a supernatural war, the only thing holding together a tenuous peace, Aziza must find the strength to live and accept a destiny that was never meant for her.

I loved this book, it's been practically my first and last thought of the day since I began reading it, even waking in the early hours to catch a few more pages, to follow Aziza as she grows from hedonistic wild child to a woman of substance.

The concept is intriguing and fascinating, a kinky, grown-up Arabian Nights fairytale, I cannot wait to follow Aziza on her path of discovery.

This definitely got put on my DNR list.

Because, no matter how hot the guy is, if I barely know his name and he smashes me against the wall, proceeds to lick my lips, and then goes for my pussy. I am dropkicking that MF in the nuts and getting him arrested for attempted rape charges.

That’s all I have to say about this book…

I've read all RG's books and finished Burn with Me back in October. I got too busy to review it, but since I just finished an A.R.C. of Make me Burn, the newest installment in this series I figured I should give you my take on both books.

Burn with Me is Ms. Alexander's first dip into the urban fantasy romance genre and honestly it was more of a cannonball splash:) The world building is rich, as was the scene description, which is critical in urban fantasy. The plot evolves at a good steady pace, but RG is careful not to reveal too much since you're only seeing the world from Aziza's perspective. The heroine, Aziza, is a bad ass with nothing left to lose so she's kind of a danger magnet. Also, a super hot guy magnet. She gets the attention of a mountain of a werewolf, Brandon, and a beautiful yet charming Jinn named Ram. I don't know who Aziza will end up with when the series ends, but personally I couldn't choose a Team;) Mainly because the character development of all the players in this story is so real and believable. They're all so distinctive and genuine, heroic and flawed in their own ways.

Here's the part that I think really sets this series apart from most other paranormals that I've read. The Jinn and the Niyr. The Jinn are definitely not your wish granting, singing, pop out of a bottle in parachute pants genies. These are the Jinn from antiquity. It's obvious that RG has done some research on the myth of the Jinn. They're cunning, powerful, passionate and dangerous, and that definitely comes through on the page. Then there are the Niyr, the enemies of the Jinn. Umm, creepy and cold. The way these creatures are written they totally deserve to be the other side of the coin to the Jinn. Finally some unique and fresh paranormal creatures!!! Both have very distinct cultures and agendas which makes for some intriguing back story.

All in all this is a must read, to be followed quickly by Make me Burn as soon as it comes out in May!

Talk about a woman who keeps taking hits and just rolls with it when others would be screaming messes in the corner rocking back and forth. I love Aziza, and she’s pretty sure she’s crazy until others start seeing her delusions, and the she realizes that the curse she always though she had, is kind of real even if it’s different then she imagined.

Where to start with Aziza, other than I wish I had a fraction of her courage, she is willing to put herself out there and have grand adventures, even if part of it is because she thinks she has a deadline on life, don’t we all wish we could do our bucket list and live dangerously and really live life. Now she finds out that she has a destiny and that there is magic, Jinn and other things in the world, but she doesn’t run, she stands her ground and gets pissed. I love that.

Ms. Alexander has built a beautiful world, and it’s obvious that a lot of time, planning and thought have gone into building the right background to support and further all the crazy that is happening to Aziza and her ever faithful companions, and new friends she’s acquiring and meeting.

This story is kinky and fun, and Aziza is definitely a passionate character, and I was always happily on the side of whatever makes Aziza happy. Some things wrap up in this story, but not everything, because this is an epic story, the kind that needs several books to get to the very satisfying end, if it was a story that could be told in 200 pages, then it wouldn’t have the same depth and beauty that it does. So be prepared to want to dive into the next one.

I cannot recommend this book more! It’s the kind of story that first got me into reading, with the fantastic world building, strong heroine and a cast of supporting characters that just make it shine.

I had high hopes for this book after reading so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me personally. Total clusterfuck. Here is my breakdown:

The pros:
* Creative concept
* Loved the cover

The cons:
* This was erotica, which as a smut lover is usually a huge plus, but in this read that was not the case. While there was a lot of sex in this read, it did absolutely nothing for me. It didn’t feel as if any of the sexual encounters contributed to the storyline, or even the character depth or relationships.
* I almost stopped reading this a few times. The first 3/4 of this book is really slow. Boring at times.
* I didn’t care much for the characters - they never felt genuine or realistic
* Overpriced at its current listing price of $4.24

Overall, this will not be a series I will continue, or a book I recommend. It did have so much potential but just fell flat for me.

Very strange story yet entirely believable. The main characters become well-developed early on yet fade into the background as Aziza's own powers and her awareness of her powers grow. The narrative is precisely paced and is at times stately but this is entirely in keeping with the progress of the plot as there is a lot for Aziza and by extension the reader to process. The love story has potential for a bittersweet end for which we have to wait and see.

Roll on the next in the series.

Maybe if I had read rather than listened to it... I don't know but I was tired of the heroine in the first 4 chapters. then how she treated her were wolf, her best friend and ran? yeah why anyone wanted to help her was beyond me. I am trying to decide if I want to know the shit storm that will happen when secrets are revealed or not. I am seriously bummed because I love other books by said author and the premise seems for the book was good..

I didn't get far with this one. It just couldn't keep my attention. I probably got past the first chapter or so, and then it seemed to sink into predictablity when she sees his eyes and wants to get hot and raunchy with him. Please, like no other book does this. It was big time ditched.
