Hades

His light was the fire that blighted the deepest dark, but even he can't save the King from a past stained so black, the devil won't even touch it.

Years creep up on you, like a rotting cold and wet, it will drag you down into your grave.

Life will hand you eternity only to rip it away from you.

Love will slaughter you in the most beautiful way and still manage to cut you down when you see him choose the heart of another man.

But Death is a patient soul. He waits, and he waits, and he waits.

'Cause the bastard knows he will always have the last laugh when he knocks at the door.

Kemono

Memories were all I had, all I had clung to as my heart turned to stone and finally dust.

Now he is mine and I will hold him, and I will cherish him. We will dance and we will laugh, and we will cry... We will be human together...

I did not know heaven until I knew him.

But being human comes at a fatal price.

Sometimes you have to let go of the hand you hold onto, because that is the only way you can save them from Death.

Rex

Why did she take them away, hand them back, then force me to choose?

Is love really that cruel, that she would enjoy tormenting you as you watch the two men you love with your whole heart, kill each other...?

And then, my worst fear, my deepest, darkest nightmare became a living breathing thing.

Death had come to take from us what we could never replace.

They come to me in the night, creeping into my head. Their voices are all different, their stories all dissimilar, but they keep saying the same thing...

“Show us, tell us to the world. Bring us into yours, and make us known.”

Then I sit and they take over. They tell their tales of love, loss and sinister misfortune, not all of them get a happy ending, but they are pleased when their part is written.

I sometimes find myself lost in my own mind; a world very similar to our own yet so different. Things don't go bump in the night—they squeal, and crawl under your skin, making you grind your teeth, and your stomach turn over and put your nerves on edge. Then there's the drama. Oh, the drama!

I write because I must! There is so much inside of me that needs to get out. So many stories to tell, characters that want to be heard, and hearts lost and won. Words and art are my way of bringing my world to others. I enjoy telling tales of the human condition but working in elements of the supernatural. Werewolves, Vampires, Zombies, Witches and the unexplainable all set against the human world or worlds of their own.

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, grew up in a working class family and enjoy writing, cooking and spending my husband's money! Yeah I’m a cocky little brat too :) (and proud of it, spankings included.)

Well this series is one dark and gritty ride - there is nothing sweet or fluffy here so if that's your style ... walk away !
The darkness that consumes Hades continues to build and grow which is only ever softened when Rex is within his space. The love here between Hades, Rex & Komanu is so palpable and raw it's dark, beyond dark. This story doesn't follow a HEA formula but certainly ends with an opening for the next book ... more pain and death to come no doubt !

***********************************

Komainu is book three in Wulf Francu Godgluck's Of Gods and Monsters series and there's some important stuff you need to understand before you delve into this kind of darkness. First, these books aren't standalones. They need to be read in order. Second, they are not romances. Third, they are dark, erotic in many places, and at times gory. Lastly, you need to understand the author. He's not one for fluff in any aspect. His scenes are, at times, unforgiving and break many rules you may hold dear to your book beliefs. Understand this and you'll be fairly prepared.

Komainu is a long awaited book. Hades (book two) ended with a gut-wrenching cliffhanger. There wasn't a kindle in the world that didn't meet the wall after that. So, when this one came along we all ran to it like it was water for our parched heart.

The first chapter will test you. Of that I'm certain. If you can get through it then you're almost golden. It's a very rough read. It's super dark, descriptive, and there's physical torture. Be ready.

Now, as this story moves along. Hades and Kemono spend like a year looking for Rex. In this time, these two behemoths learn to sort of live with each other. Both men searching for the other piece of their heart (Rex) only to discover their needs are deeper than just with him. That's pretty much as romantic as this will get.

We see what Rex has been through all this time. I'm grateful to all the people who have protected him and tried to fill the emptiness that threatens to claim him. Why? Because Rex is the everything to everyone and I do mean everyone. There's secondaries that find themselves changing just in his presence. He's a gift and so much more. It's no wonder wars would rage over him.

Wulf writes heartbreak like not many dare to do. I won't lie and say this book was everything I hoped for because it wasn't. It was incredibly hard to read and the ending left me feeling hopeless and empty. It took me almost a week to write a review for this book because I had to separate the "how it made me feel" from the "What I would have done differently" It's not my book it's Wulf's. He's made no secret that he doesn't focus on happily ever after. He concentrates on how his character's fate's entwine, shatter, or bloom. He's at the mercy of the way things have to be. In that aspect I get it. There are no rainbows for monsters.

You have to have a strong stomach, an open mind, and an understanding heart, and be able to distance yourself from fairy tales to truly appreciate this book.

Good job!

4.5, and...

I took my time reading this book, maybe because it’s been a rollercoaster of events, and feelings, or maybe because sometimes I was too pissed off to read and I cursed Wulf up a storm.
I started with the worry of Hades and Rex being apart, too lost in the events that pulled them away, and then Kemono’s presence: a strange man, quiet as death. I didn’t like him, at first, and after I really really loved him, he’s one of my favorite as well as Hades.
And he tore me apart, in tiny pieces, and I need time to recollect them… just saying.
I loved this book? Well, I did love and hate at the same time. I have lots of questions, doubts and hopes…
He's been wicked but fair, according to the story. Well, maybe he did a very bad trick… and I’m refferring to a particular event, where "I was pissing from my eyes as motherf*** kid”, As Hades would say!!
So, I’m looking forward to read the next books, because he should write again about those two guys, and I wanna know lots of things about Julius, Wendigo, The Amazing Trio and… ya knooww…kinda all his wicked thoughts.

This isn't the end, is it?

I am heartbroken, this book destroyed me. This book will rip your heart out and rip it to shreds. I can't wait to read the triad again, and hope for more. The progression of Rex, Hades and Kemono is dangerously beautiful. It is deliciously dark, with moments of startling light. Read and enjoy.

If you have not read Hades then you will need to stop reading this and go and read that first. This is the second installment and background is required. This story starts off a few weeks from the end of Hades, and he is caught by the Russian’s.

Also required reading…. The dedication. Pay attention.
To the author…. I do not forgive you.

This story continues the brutality of the previous books, in language and action. It is rough, and you need thick skin and an iron stomach to read this. It is very dark. I would not recommend it to a newbie. It will definitely scar.

For those who enjoyed the other two books as I did, this will probably push your limits, as it did mine. I’m not a novice at dark stories. In fact I’ve read some pretty grungy stories over the last few years, but between the violent language and the torture in the intro, this maxed me out. It was one of those stories where I needed to take a few hours out from reading my next book to fully absorb everything I’d read and work through my feelings.

I will need to reserve judgment on whether I agree with how this story panned out. Obviously it is not up to me, on where the author’s characters take them, but to be honest, I am deeply unhappy with some of the plot. Obviously I was invested in the story enough to care what happened during it, so this is a mark in the story’s favour. But I am not pleased with the direction, and I will need a compelling reason to change my mind. I hope this is offered in the next book.

Hades and Kemono are both very alpha and they have very different relationships with Rex and each other. It is up to them to pave their own way, but first they need to find their boy who has been missing since Hades walked into the lion's den. Hades is even more disturbed in this story than he was previously, so of course there is a lot of drama.

The angst in this story is extreme, and there is no break. I don’t think there was any lightness to relieve the tension, and this made it a stressful read for me.

I did enjoy how Rex transformed. The extra layers and his side mission was a nice touch. It showed his independence and his willingness to survive devastating blows. I was more invested in him in this story than I was in Hades, and not just as Hades’ little.

This ends sort of on a cliffhanger, so people who hate that, be aware. I think enough of the story was resolved for this to be a ‘next stage’ ending, where the story is left open, but you can use your imagination to extrapolate what will happen in the future.

If you enjoy brutal and dark, then enjoy. And when you’ve finished it, feel free to tell me all about how you feel, because I need to vent too.

A review copy was provided for an honest opinion.

3 hearts

This was as dark and gritty as you'd expect it to be. If you can get through the first chapter full of very descriptive torture the rest of the book will be smooth sailing.

I was sooooo anticipating this release. After the build up and damn cliffhanger of the last book I was dying for this book!! Did it live up to those expectations? Yes and no.

If I am being honest, I was really looking forward to some threesome action! And it took a long time to get there, but when it did, it was everything I wanted.

Here is a butt...

The sex was super dirty and primal but there was that underlying emotion and possessiveness to everything these three did together. I loved Komanu, he seemed so essential to the threesome even though Hades and Rex worked so well in the previous book. There dynamics worked really well. Now if this threesome perfection formed 80% of the book not 30%, I would have given this 4 or 5 hearts easily, but it was not to be.

In the foreword Wulf warns us that our heart will be ripped out, and it was, and not in a good way. The ending felt a little unnecessary and not necessarily the death, that I'm sure lots of people know about, but what happened after it.

The rating means "I really liked it" which is kind of inaccurate because how can you really like something that is so brutal and base and seriously messed up? I know there are warnings everywhere...but really heed them. This author does not write sweet MM romances with HEA endings and romantic love scenes...they are violent, cruel, brutally shocking and barely anyone survives in his world without severe pain and mental anguish.
I read the first two books in the series hoping for a little light somewhere in all the darkness...but nope...Wulf didn't give it to me at all. Just bloody gore and tears. Go into this series bravely if you like DARK non-romances...and read the books in order to understand what's going on.

**** 4 **** "read at the risk of heartbreak" stars

I read this book a lot slower than I normally read. It was incredible intense and very violent in places.
We find out what happened to Hades and why he was away for so long. We see him with Kemono in their search for Rex.
Its strange but we are nearly half way into the book before we find Rex again.
The road to the HEA for Hades and Rex wasn't easy and the final chapter had me thinking a lot. Strange person that I am I did find myself wondering what happened to Bacon and Pirate in the end.
I am not sure if this is the end of Hades and Rex's story. Somehow I think it might be and its a good place to leave them.
This whole series has been a rollercoaster, where you find yourself rooting for the extremely bad guy.

That ending sucked big ass time. It didn't even feel finished. More like done in a rush. That's really annoying because the series held quite a bit of intensity and depth. I'm a bit disappointed.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews.)

Where do I even freaking start on this one? I went through a lot of emotions while reading this book. I loved it in places, but I utterly HATED it in others. I should have known when I saw that “Apology” page at the beginning of the book that simply read:

Dear Readers, please forgive me.

I’m just going to have to say it. I’ve debated how to review this book since it left me in a total funk the other day. I even ranted on our Love Bytes Reviewers closed group about it. I really didn’t like this book. There is some totally fucked up shit in this one. (And you know it must be true because I try never to curse in my reviews.) As much as I liked Hades, I disliked this one. Now, I’m not just going to say that and not explain, and trust me I’m not going to rate it based on the emotions it ripped from my body. I hate you right now Wulf, but I’ll get over it.

From the very first chapter where the members of Hades’ MC are being brutally executed in ways that include being sawed up ALIVE at the joints with a bone saw, and a member who is being boiled alive like a lobster, I was horrified. It takes a lot to horrify me, but you sir definitely managed it.

I loved the dynamics in the book between Hades and Kemono and their growing dependence on each other. The story went in the direction I had hoped, I was flying through the pages, and then I got to THAT part. I had to back up and re-read a couple pages. It couldn’t possibly have said what I thought it did. No one, not even Wulf Francu Godgluck, would do that to me. Would he?

Very strong emotions on this one. I’m going to rate it 4.0 stars. That rating on Love Bytes means I really liked it (I didn’t at all) and I recommend it. (I’m not sure I do.) So why am I rating it that high? I think the author did a great job with a very, very, very, very dark story. I don’t like where it went, but it certainly isn’t something I’ll forget any time soon. So, I’m rating it on the totally messed up and sick (not in a good way) story and the ability to instill such strong feelings in me.

I’m going to recommend it, but only to those of you who really enjoy a totally messed up, no happy ending, no romance type story. It is very dark and twisted. Oh, and you should read the other two books, Menoetius and Hades, first.

I’ll end with a quote from Dante:

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

I don't know how I feel about this one. I re read the first two just so I could refresh my memory of all. I remembered how much I loved the first two books.
This one has all the things I loved....crass,the violence, the language, the hot sex but it didn't move me the way the first two did.
I love Rex and I absolutely adore Daddy Hades but the back and forth was just so frustrating. I love Kemono and am so bummed about the direction of his character.
I love the world Wulf has created...it's brutal and raw...it's erotic and sexually charged and I love love love the language and words he uses especially the dialogue between his boys...this one just didn't grab me like the first two but I am definitely interested in seeing where Rex and his Daddy end up. Will it be all out war?

Mr. Wulf. You gloriously break my heart with these books. The crazy, dark and dangerous book will make you wince. Make you stop reading, then reread to make sure you got it right. It passes the point of being okay, ten steps farther. And I loved every word. HOLY CRAP!

I fell in love with Rex and Daddy Hades in HADES, and the end of that book shredded me. Seeing them again and watching in agonizing terror as they fight and claw at each other trying to survive. AND then factor in the beautifully cold Kemomo. Sigh.

This book is dark, it is bloody. It will cross boundaries, and make you squirm. And it's worth every minute!

I'm not even sure what to say about this one. It's dark. It's twisted. It's EFFED ALL UP. But it's compelling in it's way. I'm not sure it went in a direction I like or even understand. I also got a little annoyed with Rex. A) Everyone loves him and wants in his pants. It reaches Jory levels. B) He promises he'll never leave...then guess what he does? He leaves. For no good reason. Or at least one that I don't understand. I'm still living in disbelief over what goes down with Kemono. I refuse to accept it. Hades.....is a mess. But his reasons are so extremely valid that it's impossible to hate him.

Absolute devastation of the heart

I read the warnings...but if you think you’re prepared you are so not. I’m not one to cry reading a book but by the end I was sobbing. Writing this I am still sobbing! I read from book one and thought yeah I can do this it’s not so bad, I love the darkness. Book two you could feel that storm brewing and I was excited. Some of the passion in these books is unlike anything I’ve ever read. These monsters can be so beautiful. The depth of feeling and storytelling is something I wasn’t expecting. I thought I was just picking up some dark bdsm with a healthy dose of daddy kink. I read some reviews and even all of the author notes in the beginning. Still not prepared. I think Kemono will be an all time fave for me. Hades that beautiful brutal god of a man. So damn broken. I’ve read some reviews that hope for Hades redemption but for me I’ll save that for Rex. This book emotionally destroyed me, but I like that in a book ;) 5 stars in not enough 10/10!!!

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

Rex walked away from a man that was hurting. He wanted him to confront feelings for a man he lost. By leaving. I mean what did he think was going to happen? It wasn’t the first time Rex just left. He promised not to again. He left a broken man to rot and fester and wonders why he is this creature. I will never understand this. I love you Rex but why?!? Hopefully there will be more because I need to know!!!

So worth the wait

Can't add much more to that besides forgiving Godluck for doing as promised after all he did say sorry.
I now start the hopefully very short wait for the next, no pressure.
Take your time because wow, my imagination is running riot in anticipation.
Fellow readers start at book one. It's been one hell of a ride.

Outstanding! I didn't like this one quite as much as the first two, but this one didn't disappoint. The last 10% gutted me. I cried big, ugly tears and I don't know what to think of the ending. Not an HEA, and not even an HFN really.

It's just what I've come to expect from Wulf though: dark, gritty, crass, a little gross, but entertaining and honest. Great side characters (what is going on with Mr. Julius?!) and great writing. Can't wait for the next one!

I just thought book two in this series was going to blow me away and then I read book three and I found that so many different emotions where brought out in me. I will be honest I was not expecting a dark read to break my heart in any way but then here comes book three and Wulf proved that what I did not think was capable of happening was made possible in a major way.

Wulf has got to be a master at the twist and turns he puts in his books because there are so many unexpected twists that I was blown away by this read in more ways then one.

Hades and Rex are back in a huge way. But along with these two men is another. A huge part of Rex's past and an even bigger part of Hades present. Komainu is the first man that Rex fell for at a very young age but Rex did not believe it to reciprocated.

Boy was he wrong. Komainu was just as much in love with Rex as Rex was with him but Komainu knew what that love would do if his father was able to use Rex for his own purposes. So Komainu did what he had to do in order to protect Rex.

Now that Komainu is grown and his own man, nothing will stop him from finding Rex. Or so he thinks anyway. The problem is Rex does not want to be found and not even Hades knows where Rex is.

Two unlikely individuals team up to find the man they both love and pray that he is safe. Along the way Hades and Komainu fight with each other and with others in order to try and find the man they both feel so much for. But also along the way something changes between these two men.

What will happen to all three of these men when they find Rex again? Will someone be left in the cold or can these three come up with an arrangement that they can all live with?

This book has some major twist and turns that left me feeling emotionally wrung out but also blown away at the twists. This is definitely a book you will have to read in order to get the full affect of what happens. I will be honest when I say it left me in tears.

I really hope there will be more of these men in future books because I am just not through with them yet.

Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review

I’m not sure what to write in this review and the reason is pretty simple: I loved the story even if I should not have. I was desperately waiting for this new release to come out. I begged for it. And I was satisfied, well until a point, because the author went where he shouldn’t have and he knows it. And I can’t talk about it so I have no clue how to well explain why I have mixed feelings about the story.
Let’s start saying I spent a lot of days on this book, it took me a while to finish it and of course I savoured every single word but I struggled with them too. It wasn’t simple to read, maybe because I felt it more violent, maybe because I’m too used to other themes in my “usual” books, I don’t know. Yes the story is dark but if you already are familiar with the series you know what to expect. Although in this new installment things went ballistic and more than once they were uncomfortable to me.
I loved the structure of the narration,, how the author decided to tell me what was going to happen, I adored how I had time to know the characters better, especially to see Rex alone by himself and then Hades and Kimono together. They were nutcases but they were so deeply connected I couldn’t wait for Rex to be with them and get their HEA.
I can’t say more but if you are reading the series you need KOMAINU now. I’m waiting for more to come and truly hope the author will give me and the characters some deserved peace.

Worth more then 5 🌟🌟🌟

Part 2 from the last book Hades, this will bring all the characters together but not in a sweet romance kinda way, cuz we know Wulf doesn't write sweet sappy romances.

RAW.... DIRTY.... GRITTY.... EMOTIONAL...Three-times-the-love...SHOCKERS

Kemono and Hades will take a dominate part in this story, their love/hate 'relationship' is based on how Rex will process their future. This story will take place when Hades deals with the phone call from his book and the days/weeks at the hands of the Watchers MC, then the time after the rescue short glance of how Hades was going through, the event that cemented how Hades and Kemono dealt with each other and how they kept each other alive or basically how Kemono kept Hades alive if he can. Old faces, New faces, New kitten-Pirate and Old Cat Bacon up to new tricks. New family. Past characters gone. A Lot is going on are you ready for the change in the beloved Rex, his Daddy and his Onii-sama Kemono-suma.

I really can't wait for more <3

Soft Spoiler
Tissue alert between chapter 13 -15
You'll be extremely shocked when Little boy Rex will be a someone different in the last chapter, as well as Daddy Hades.

This book was a good third in this trilogy(so far)The book followed the storyline of the first two quit well. It should be no surprise that this book went in the same direction, for the naysayers who say the ending ( a cliffhanger) was horrible, well they usually are, this is the enticement to read/buy the next one. I was warned the book would rip my heart out, it did,.But I am so ready for the next one! The book is definitely NOT for everyone, but if you read the first two, I don't understand the horror of the third one?? Read book one if it pulls you in and this is your "cup of tea" they the other 2 follow suit, so be warned! I loved all 3!

Not for the faint of heart!

This violent, beautiful journey into hell will not only rip out your heart, but your guts as well and stomp them into pulp before laying them out in a delicate pattern to be admired. That's kind of what it felt like reading Wulf's love story between the most vile and broken men I've ever encountered. But it's also one of the strongest love stories because this $417 is real! These characters bleed and break bones while they break hearts. If you're brave enough to survive reading this, you will come out stronger with tears pouring down your face.
