Kaitlyn has been struggling with her romantic relationships for awhile, but this last relationship was the straw that broke the camel's back. Now she is not sure if she wants to keep dating. Which isn't a huge deal, she's never been a very conventional girl and she'd like to focus on her passion for music. But when an old friend offers Kaitlyn a place to stay in the beautiful college town of Rosebridge, she meets someone who makes her want to give love one more shot.
"My educational success is the most important thing to me."
Emily worked very hard to get into a successful engineering program and she dedicates all of her time and attention to her schoolwork. Unfortunately, that means she has neglected to date any women during her time at college. Which isn't a huge deal, she never thought dating was very important. That is until she meets Kaitlyn, a free-spirited musician who challenges Emily to live a little.
“I didn't know this would be so hard.”
As Kaitlyn and Emily's love begins to grow, they find hardships that threaten to tear them apart. And once again, Kaitlyn begins to doubt whether love really can conquer all. Emily loves Kaitlyn with all her heart but is it enough to bridge the gap?
Rhythm is a 40,000 word steamy FF standalone romance. It is the first book in the Perfect Pitch series. Each book can be read independently but would be even more enjoyable read as a trilogy! They all contain a happily ever after ending.
This author pronoun swaps and publishes the same book twice. SHAMEFUL!
Original review below:
This author has been more miss than hit for me. I'm convinced there is more than one person writing under this pen name, since the books are wildly inconsistent in tone and style.
Tuned appears to have been written by the less talented fairy. The plot was thin at best, and both MCs acted like children.
Also, everyone spoke with exclamation points! All the time!! Because life is exciting!!!
i really enjoyed this.. it started strong and stayed strong but the middle had a part that i wasnt so sure about.. it was still wonderfully written and i love that trust was won back and things went good again but so much happened that i wasnt sure if it would or not. overall very good story and im glad i got to review it
This started out with some great potential and then midway through it hit a wall for me. Not that it got boring, it's that what Tyler did was just, well, so stupid and heartless that I had a hard time forgiving and letting it go. I get that this was his first relationship but even that didn't excuse it for me. All I kept thinking was how could Zander trust that Tyler wouldn't do it again? For me he never showed me that he wouldn't so it spoiled the rest of the book for me. So even though they patched things up and got their HEA - this reader really didn't. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Previously published under the title Tuned by Harper Logan as a m/m novella.
Same cookie cutter structure as all prior "reimagined" romances from this writer. Rhythm seemed to have better editing. I can't recall any erroneous pronoun usage which was commonplace in earlier novellas. I'm not sure that it matters, but the romantic couple are named Emily and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is a stunningly gorgeous street musician. Freshly out of a long relationship with a partner named Julia, she finds Emily when she moves to a college town. Emily is studying engineering and has one year before graduation. These two women share nothing in common, but "opposites attract" or so the reader is told.
No new ground is broken in this short book, but it exceeds the lackluster execution of the previous publications by H. L. Logan. The story arc holds zero surprises. The roster of characters are likeable, though character development is nonexistent.
If you are going to be the kind of author who writes stories, and just changes roles around to suddenly make it an F/F instead of M/M (Tuned) at least don't be a lazy-assed author and leave a ton of "he" pronouns throughout your book. (how hard is it really to do a word search for "he" and check them all?) This is the second book I've read by this author that had 'he' throughout. Disappointing. Not sure if I'll continue the series.
Short books aren't usually what I like, so that was already an issue. Although I liked both Zander and Tyler, they each seemed too one dimensional.
Tyler is a rigid, perfectionistic student who starts out being open with Azande, then goes into his head and won't consider Zander's view. Xander seems artsy, but also a bit hot headed. Neither of them seem mature enough to compromise, maybe they just are young.
Nice ending, but not enough depth, and the writing is somewhat stilted as well.
Zander is moving on after his recent breakup, he is a musician and enjoys performing for people. His ex had understood that but after a while wanted Zander to get a normal job that's something Zander doesn't want. Tyler is so focused on school he never had a social life or even a boyfriend and he was fine with that until he met Zander. Like all relationships when it's new they are both captivated by each other and spend as much time as they can together but it comes at a price. For the first time ever Tyler fails a class ad he must make a hard decision to break up with Zander so he can focus on school. This leaves Zander devasted but on some level he understands but which things could work out. After a while Tyler realizes his mistake he is still in love with Zander and wants to be with him and together they make a way for Tyler to do well in school while haveing a loving boyfriend. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
This a good short reading, sweet, spicy and relaxing....typical HL Logan style never let you down. Emily and Kaitlyn are great together and learn how to work the relationship along the way, to overcome the obstacles be of the everyday. I enjoyed the story.
This was a good story about two women falling in love early in their early 20s. I love that Emily struggled with finding a balance in life between work and love. Most of us have that same issue and it was nice to see how it was portrayed .
It really interesting and I know how Kaitlyn feel i don't wanna look for a job and stuff like that when I had issue been as perfection... At same time she want someone accept who she is not basic on it and not that ....
I love Sander and Tyler. Plus guess what town their in and what college Tyler goes to. Yep and it made my day. I can't stop reading these books. On to the next ones.
Zander and Tyler's story is extremely sweet. Tyler never had a relationship but when he meets Zander at the bar all he can think about is him. Zander is getting over his breakup with Jerred and can't believe his luck at meeting Tyler. But Tyler rushed out the bar for an emergency so they never exchanged numbers. Once they see each other again they make it official a month later to be boyfriends. But what happens when Tyler fails a class and Jerred shows up unannounced?
Both guys take you through their heartache and finding their way back together again.
I reviewed this book voluntarily and will definitely recommend it.
I really liked revisiting the Beasley universe again. Zander is a free spirit who is trying to find his own way while staying true to who he is. Tyler is a Beasley senior who is trying so hard to get good grades because he feels he needs to in order to have a successful future. They find they are opposites, but also are so good together that it helps balance themselves. I enjoyed reading this and watching Tyler come into his own.
The author of this new release as presented us with another wonderful, romantic story about Tyler, a student at Beasley College and Zander a wayfaring musician. They meet and sparks fly. Zander loves playing his music on the street corners and Tyler is a type A student who is studying all the time and never has a life. The two are great together, until tyler notices his grades are slipping. How they resolve this problems brings angst, pain and suffering to the two of them. mix ups and misunderstandings bring pain and failure to the relationship. The author, however, gives us an HEA ending and that is what we all want to see. To get there though, we,the readers and The MCs must suffer a little bit. Good read and would recommend this to anyone to read. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book
Wow the author still has it. Never know what is going to happen in the pages, of the couple the author introduces me to. I feel so many emotions that I never know what is next. Tissue box is a must in some spots of the book. Pom Poms in other spots as I cheer the couple on. When the first ex comes to get Zander back, a voice so evil says run away little boy run away. Yeah I am weird like that when get into my reading. That is because some authors can pull me into their book so fully that I forget the real world and focus on the world the author made for me to read. So yes I loved the book. I thought it had a very nice pace, and the characters pulled me into wanting to know more about them. The Great writer also has me wondering about Byron. So i will keep my fingers crossed and hope for a story about him.
This was definitely a very pleasant and enjoyable read. Zander is a free spirited musician and Tyler is a college student perfectionist. Together they are so adorable and the supportive characters were also very thoughtful. This was well written and the pace moved along nicely. With most relationships there's a misunderstanding, tears, laughter, and heat. This author has a great way of ending her books with a wonderful loving gesture on the part of one of the main characters and I really look forward to that in these stories. The ending in this book totally warmed my heart.
Finding the perfect partner for you. Not perfect but perfect for each other. Zander left his boyfriend of two years when it became clear that they were not really a match made in heaven. Zander realized that he was repressing his own needs and sense of self to be the man that his partner wanted. Zander isn't ambitious in the traditional sense. He wants to enjoy his life and play music. He doesn't need a fancy house or expensive things but he wants to engage with people and play his guitar. Not long after moving to a new college town he met Tyler and was instantly attracted but it seemed that Tyler might be focused on a career that he doesn't really like or want. In this case Zander really wants to make it work because he enjoys being with the inexperienced man so much. How can a man with such a strong academec focus and desire for perfection be the perfect partner for a carefree street musician? You will need to read this delightful story!
Another great one by Harper Logan! Yet again the characters are captivating and easy to get to know. Zander is a musician who loves to busk on the streets and never has any money. He will never abandoned his dream. Tyler is trying to finish his studies so he can get a job and security. When they meet they are blown away both being weary. This is their story and it's as usual written well and hard to put down. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
This is another sweet read from Harper. Zander a musician has moved away to stay with a friend after breaking up with his partner of five years. He is an unemployed musician whereas his partner was now a hot shot lawyer who Zander was no longer good enough for. He meets Tyler a student in a coffee shop and they hit it off. This is their story with a HEA.
I was underwhelmed with this book, and a bit disappointed.
What made Xander believe that Tyler would be any different from Jerrad? Like Jerrad had been, Tyler was in school and majoring in something that didn't excite him. I was a bit confused on what Jerrad's job actually was after graduating - in the beginning it sounded like he was an accountant, but later on Xander said he was a lawyer... I would have expected Xander to be extra wary of Tyler because of that, rather than having him embrace it so readily. What makes Tyler any less likely to change after he gets his degree and starts his job than Jerrad was?
I also didn't like that Xander and Tyler never talked about music in this book. It was such a big part of Xander's life, and it was an interest that Tyler had (though not performing), but it never came up. That didn't really ring true for me since Tyler began the book seriously questioning his choice of major by using his interest in music as an example and yet, that seems to have just completely dissolved somewhere in the narrative.
This is not your average romance novel, as it is set in a rather short amount of time. It is not about action, but all about interaction. It is about character building, growing up, budding love, insecurities, torn between head and heart, deciding what is important, impulsive actions, misunderstandings, selfishness, forgiveness. All the emotions young adults go through finding their way in life and love.
The author created a great coming of age story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided to me by the author.
Another sweet love story that will pull at your heartstrings. Reality of life goals can sometime take you on a path you don't want to go on. Zander has just come out of a heartbreaking relationship. He is a musician ( street performer ) who doesn't want the life of a 9-5 job. After he moves to a college town where a friend puts him up he meets Tyler, a senior college student, whose ambition is to get his degree in engineering and is obsessed in getting good grades to the point of never having any relationship with men...No time!! On the day of an exam he wakes up late, not being able to finish the exam. Devastated, he goes to the local bar. Zander, having his own problems, sees Tyler there. The attraction is strong and the two just open up to each other. Constantly thinking of someone definitely can be distracting if not devastating, but it brings these two men together. But things get torn apart when Tyler gets a failing grade. Knowing that Zander is the cause, Tyler breaks up with Zander after losing his virginity to him, Zander is furious and confused but he makes it known that he won't wait for Tyler to graduate. Tyler throws himself into studying getting back on track and trying not to think of Zander, but fails miserably. Is all this worth losing a future with the man he loves? A beautiful love story with a HEA. ❤️❤️
Good things come to those who are in the right spot at the right time. You can plan your life to some extent but fate sometimes has another path for you to follow. Zander was looking to live his life on his own terms without having to change into someone else's idea of how he should conduct his life. Tyler was obsessively concerned with being a perfectionist... concentrating on excelling in school to the exclusion of social and personal interaction with others. When the two men meet, they feel an instant connection. They fit together so well in personality. There is a major bump in the road, but when you've found the love of your life, you learn to comprise. Without changing who you are. This was a delightful, sweet love story. I received this book as an arc wanted to leave my feedback and say thank you to Harper Logan for another wonderful story.
Tuned Another hit out of the park for Harper Logan. When a free spirited musician meets a driven college student, will opposites attract? Or will their differences push them apart? I loved this book. It's engaging, fun, & spiced with a bit of sex. I really enjoy reading Harper's books. Harper's writing flows well, doesn't get bogged down or too convoluted. I've loved everything I've read by Harper. Thank you, Harper, for keeping me entertained.
This was a sweet romance. The time between the breakup with one man and then meeting a new one was too quick for my tastes, but the author made it work. There is a definite young adult feel to the book. The thoughts and feelings of both characters, not just Tyler who has never had a relationship or sexual experience, exude innocence and hope, something that older characters would not portray. I thought Zander would have had a more worldly view. Both characters were a bit wordy in their thoughts of why they are the way they are, and why they do things the way they do. That became a little tedious after a while. But on the whole, this is a sweet book. There is not a lot of sexual interaction but that works in this book. I was satisfied with their HEA. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I am voluntarily reviewing the advance reader copy I received from the author.
Another sweet romance from this author. Though to be honest, Zander is the shining gem of this story, while Tyler feels underage and like you want to drop him on his head because he's so wishy-washy. Not really the type-a that they later call him. Whatever. That's just my opinion.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Every time I read a book by Harper Logan I think it can never be better, but I'm proven wrong with every new one! This story is amazing and so down to earth. Everyone can relate to this story because at one point in our life we have all been through it. Thank you for allowing me to read your awesome stories! Look forward to reading more!
