This exclusive short story from Get Underlined takes place before the events of Little Monsters and we’re pretty sure it will leave you even more excited (or terrified) to read the book.

A party gone wrong… A story about a naive high schooler with trash 'friends'. Thrilling story with an ending that leaves you wondering. For a short story, it was detailed and suspenseful. Definitely not as good as Little Monsters. But I would still recommend to those who have read and enjoyed LM.
I really liked this short story because it was a fun scary read. I don't want to spoil it but in all it was a good short story before the events of Little Monsters.
This would have been a perfect way to start the Little Monsters book! I wish I could have discovered this back then because reading it now, I have no idea what's happening and forgot how it connects with the main novel.
Completely got me in the mood to start reading Little Monsters. I have no idea what's going on. I don't even know if Cassidy shows up the actual book nor do I understand how the prequel relates to the main plot of LM. But this definitely did the job of hooking me to the story. And I'm really happy that GR has it listed in the order it is intended to be read in relation to the main book.
Way creepier than Little Monsters! This prequel short story sets up the town and one of the main legends in Little Monsters. I read it after finishing Little Monsters, but it won't spoil the story if you want to read it before.
I am still planning on reading Little Monsters, so when I spotted this little prequel/short story up on Goodreads, I just had to check it out. It sounded absolutely creepy, and I was excited.
And it started off pretty decent. A girl and her friend are going to a party (what could possibly go wrong) and there was some tension in the air. This being a short book you only got a few hints of what was going on (it seems that her best friend has found some new friends and is following some of their bad things (smoking/drinking a lot)). The party also started off pretty nicely, though I do wonder why this girl even went to the party if she totally doesn't want to go. I am sure her best friend would have understood (and otherwise maybe just find a new best friend?).
But then things happen... and well, I am not sure if I found it creepy, or just idiotic. The girl just steps in to a car with a guy she doesn't know? What is up with that? Don't they teach kids not to get into cars with strangers any more? Or is that something old-fashioned and is it considered cool to just get into cars with strange guys?
Plus I found what our MC did a bit excessive. I know she was almost , which is a very very very terrible thing, and he was following her, which is also a big NOPE, but after x happened the guy was already like that, no need to throw a bit more violence on top of that. If she had gone to the police as it were I am sure they would have believed her, seen it as self-defence. Now? Haha, no.
The last few sentences were OK, but again not creepy.
Also what is up with that friend. Just leaving her friend alone in an unfamiliar place. Bleh. I already was side-eyeing this girl given how strange she seemed to be acting and how much rather she would be with those new friends, but I thought she would, for this evening, stick with her oldest friend.
So yeah, not creepy at all, just frustrating and annoying.
Hopefully Little Monsters book is better than this one. I will still be reading that one, even if this one was a big disappointment.
this was bound into the back of little monsters. i wish i'd known to read it first, dammit! it did a stellar job of setting up the myth that little monsters is built upon and lured me in really quickly.
Notes as I read: #1: Wait, did I srsly find a typo?! REALLY?! "She snuck at glance at her cell phone." Is this just me? #2: Ok, I am a bit confused, who's POV are hearing?! Is this "college party" the frat party Lauren went to with Bailey and Jade? I trust Kara Thomas will make everything come together though... I hope. XD #3: mmmmmm LAVA CAKES! #4: OMGumdrops Cassidy, RUN FROM THE DRUNK PERSON! What the crepes is wrong with you?! #5: Oh wait... nvm... Good Cassidy... #6: For some reason, I am loling (silently, but then I guess its more of an lias (Laugh internally and silently) then...) because Cassidy's phone died, idk why. #7: Oh great! On comes along a sober seducing guy, why don't you just hop in a car with him Cass! *eye roll* #8: Stephen. His name is Stephen. Hmmmm.... He seems to perfect. #9: Wait... He is going the wrong way... OH MY GOSH!!!! HE'S A PREDATOR!!!! RUN! GET OUT OF THE CAR! SCREAM! BITE! DO SOMETHING! #10: Aha! I was RIGHT! Oh boy, i feel sick. He is a predator... ugh... #11: He's looking for her... This is giving me a Lonliest Girl in the Universe vibe. I NO LIKEY!!! #12: Ho boy... I feel sick.... I am DNFing this... :(
Review: As you can see ^^^^^^^ I DNFed this. It began to get super violent. I once read the a book called the Loneliest Girl in the Universe. It was good, but then.... SPOILER ALERTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The love interest turns out to be a murderer! Then he comes after her and she kills him and its so gory and terrifying. I had a panic attack afterwords.... Oi. This is giving me the same feel. I really don't like. Sorry. I might read it when I am older. this made me feel sick.

Well, definitely not on par with Little Monsters. And the third person POV drove me nuts; "Meg, Meg, Meg,...Cassidy, Cassidy, Cassidy..." nearly put it down in the first paragraph. But it was interesting, but raised more questions about the Red Woman. I don't know if it was worth the time reading it, I don't feel it was all that impactful an introduction to Little Monsters. I was expecting something more from Kacey's past or maybe getting a first hand encounter with what happened that night on Sparrow rd up on the hill, whether there really is a Red Woman or if something else is going on.
It's a short story so it won't have the emotional depths of a novel, there's just no time or space for that kind of character building.. but something about it felt like a first draft, very bare bones and to the point. Still! Very creepy and suspenseful, definitely did not expect the turn it would take. Everyone just needs to move out of Broken Falls. *Old man voice* And tear down that barn! Think about the children!
Jokes aside, I miss pre-The Cheerleaders Kara Thomas. Little Monsters' Kara Thomas > The Champions' Kara Thomas. I said it.
I should have stopped myself from reading this story after the "warning" but I really want to know what's the connection of Wrath to Little Monster. So far, after reading the story it's not that terrifying at all. Creepy maybe but didn't scare me and forgive me I didn't see the connection between the two stories. Hahaha. Someone tell me please. Did I miss something? Is this about the Red Woman? Hmmm.. Guess I'm gonna re-read Little monster to find out.
This was a fun little short story! Doesn't have any of the main characters from Little Monsters but it does have someone else you might recognize ;) I'd recommend reading this AFTER Little Monsters, otherwise you won't really understand the references.
So like I just finished Little Monsters when I saw this on Goodreads and was like hey I wanna read that, so I found it online. Low key didn't do much for me :/ I felt nothing, it wasn't really creepy except for like when the thing with the guy happened and the ending, so like I feel deceived oop.
THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. SUSPENSE STRAIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. AND CONTINUE WITH IT THROUGH THE STORY. i would’ve liked little monsters more if i read this first, but it was in the back of the book ):
3.5, a very interesting little short story about the myth that is mentioned several times in Little Monsters. I wish it would have given a little more context as to when it happened (before or after Little Monsters). Overall an enjoyable short read.
This was a great short story which follows a girl that runs in to trouble. . She is aided by the Red Women that we learn about in the novel Little Monsters. . I love how we got alittle extra of this tale.

This was a creepy little story, offering more insight into the Red Woman urban legend of Broken Falls that features prominently in Little Monsters. For a short story, it's quite good, and I enjoyed it!
