Passion ignites in Antarctica when the only thing keeping an experienced polar guide safe is an intense, enigmatic former Navy SEAL.

Former Navy SEAL and CIA agent Ronin Cooper is used to living his life in the darkness. A loner by nature, he enjoys his work at Treasure Hunter Security, stays busy on the road, and never lets anyone too close. That is until he notices a mysterious redheaded woman spying on him and his colleagues.

Peri Butler will do anything to save her sister. The experienced polar guide knows the deadly black-market antiquities ring, Silk Road, has her twin, but Peri isn’t sure who she can trust. She wants to believe Treasure Hunter Security can help, and soon finds herself facing off with the dark, intense, enigmatic Ronin.

Ronin and Peri find themselves headed to the frigid ice and snow of Antarctica on a dangerous rescue mission. Their intense attraction generates scorching heat, and as they work to track down Silk Road and Peri’s sister, they are drawn irresistibly closer. But what they find buried in the ice could threaten everything. Ronin will sacrifice it all to protect Peri, while she will take every risk, not only to save her sister, but to break through the protective shell around Ronin’s heart.

❄️ FMC looking for missing sister
❄️ Polar guide FMC x security agent MMC
❄️ Indiana Jones in Antarctica vibes

While Anna Hackett’s Treasure Hunter Security is easily one of her best series for me, this sixth entry wasn’t my absolute favorite of the bunch.

Ronin and Peri’s romance was likable enough, but there just wasn’t the page count here to fully develop it, beginning to end. With a plot involving an Antarctica setting and a mysterious pyramid hidden under ice, this is the exact type of story that has the bones to hold up a full novel, or at least a longer one.

So next up to step into the spotlight is Ronin and he might believe that he's far too dark to ever settle down but he's about to have his ordered batchelor life well and truly turned on its head. Peri has been watching THS and is still trying to decide if she can trust them when what do you know she's busted! Yes caught spying on a very angry Ronin but when he finds out why he's very quick to jump on board. Peri's sister has disappeared and it's all unfortunately tied to the infamous Silk Road . Tracking down exactly where Amber went missing is just the tip of the iceberg though ( sorry I couldn't resist the pun) as Silk Road are keeping tabs on THS and getting out of Denver in order to trace Ambers steps in Antarctica is harder than Ronin and Peri expected!
I do enjoy these rough tough guys going out on such diverse missions and thought the choice of snowy Antarctica was inspired. It's easy to imagine valuable relics existing in ancient tombs but to take such an inhospitable frozen landscape and make it a believable home for an ancient civilisation clearly took a lot of research not to mention poetic license. The topography of that almost barren land was used to great effect as it truly felt isolated and quite hostile.
Oh Ronin you have such a sad backstory . At times it's quite difficult to read about his awful beginnings but he's pulled himself up by his bootstraps and made a life for himself which unfortunately feels quite insular. Step forward effervescent Peri! A born adventurer who is unafraid to grab hold of life. Well she really wants to grab hold of Ronin but is someone like her really going to settle for less? Peri might have been a bit wild but she's settled down now with a business, a home and on the lookout for a dog! Yet you just know that life is about to throw Ronin in at the deep end and when he falls it's going to be hard!
The afternoon simply flew by as I read this book. Action, adventure and romance it's all here and for fans of the series there's definitely developments with Agent arrogant and annoying!
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Unmapped is the sixth exciting book in the Treasure Hunter Security series and if you want a series that has it all this is should you should read. Action, suspense, mystery, danger, romance are just some of what to expect when diving into one of Anna's books. The treasure hunters are called upon when protection is needed and ancient artifacts are sort after but they go into alpha mode when trying to protect. But let's not forget the sexy, alpha men and women who protect and find their someone else even though they are players beforehand. It's just as good the second time as the first time I read it.

With every novella that Anna Hackett publishes, it becomes increasingly obvious that her imagination never runs dry and that alone, puts me in awe of the content that’s been churned out from her desk month after month.

Hackett’s Treasure Hunter Security series really appeals to the, uh, dormant Indiana Jones in me: the crazy, far-flung locales and the treasures they’re hiding as the suspense and intrigue as the security guys battle the baddies. ‘Unmapped’ brings us to Antarctica this time around, in search of a client’s missing twin and that alone is a mouth-watering prospect. It’s a rollicking, upbeat ride from the start without any ‘real’ sense of tragedy (even if the ease with which it takes to arrange a trip far down south is somewhat unrealistic), peppered with slick James Bonde-esque villains unrelenting in their search for artefacts and structures of lost civilisations that are somehow uncovered with alarming ease.

I do think that it’s slightly weaker in the romance department, as Ronin and Peri come together without a backstory and gravitate toward each other simply because—with a hint of instalove around—unlike the couples whom Hackett builds up from previous books. I wasn’t entirely invested in this particular pairing or the believability of it, but then I already know that there are definitely some that work more for me than others, particularly when time is given for chemistry between a potential pairing to bubble over.

That said, ‘Unmapped’ is a very entertaining (albeit short!) read. There’s the whole lick of adventure through which I can vicariously live and it’s always an afternoon well spent when I can get lost in yet another one of Hackett’s worlds.

UPDATE: This time I listened to the audio version of UNMAPPED and my rating remains a “Near 4” - > Satisfied.
The narrator, Stella Blloom, did a nice job with the female voices and accents; male voices were ok. The action, settings and scenarios are what keep me returning to this series. I find them captivating and fun. I look forward to the next book in audio; these allow me to work while I listen. My original remarks below remain unchanged.

ORIGINAL POST:
3.5 Stars, nearly 4. (1=dnf/What was that?; 2=Nope/not for me; 3=It was Ok; 3.5= I LIKED THIS; 4=I LIKED THIS A LOT; 5=It was great).

Peri Butler’s sister (an experienced polar guide, as is Peri) guided a mixed group of individuals to Antarctica on a ice expedition and missed her return date. Peri/FMC is concerned something bad might have happened. After receiving no response to her calls, Peri approaches THS and requests their assistance in locating her sister and bringing her back home.

Ronin Cooper/MMC works for Treasure Hunter Security. He is both a former SEAL and a former CIA operative. Ronin believes the friends he has made within THS are the best part of his current life. Ronin is superbly fit physically and “dealing” mentally, but he tends to close himself off and occasionally still has nightmares from past jobs. Peri’s bold and assertive attitude catches Ronin’s attention from the first and he wants to be part of the team that discovers what happened to Amber. Peri insists on accompanying them.

UNMAPPED is bk#6 in Anna Hackett’s Treasure Hunter Security series - an action/adventure series similar in style to the Indiana Jones movies. Each novel can be read as a standalone title but the characters from the THS team previously introduced are featured as secondary characters in latter books. Reading the earlier books increases the enjoyment, IMO. For me, Peri & Ronin’s developing personal relationship wasn’t as convincing or compelling as previous books in this series (there was certainly plenty of steam, perhaps just more “Insta” than I prefer). Even so, I still enjoyed the adventure and the fascinating Antarctica setting and look forward to reading the last 2 books.

I recommend UNMAPPED (and the Treasure Hunter Security series) to readers who enjoy fast moving action novels teamed with sexy/steamy romance (alpha heroes together with strong, capable heroines). The adventures are great fun, quick reading and at times a bit fantastic/surreal and/or unexplainable/mystical.

*READER CAUTIONS -
VIOLENCE - Similar to PG/PG-13 action-adventure movies, not described in a dark/graphic manner.
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used frequently.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Detailed on-scene steamy intimacy and language several times in latter half of book.

*Not recommended for readers who prefer Clean fiction or for YA. a “Nearly 4.”

Antarctica hasn’t seen this much action since they found the second Stargate. In 1998, during the first season of the absolutely marvelous series Stargate SG-1. But Stargates notwithstanding, Antarctica is a place that most of us think of in terms of ice, snow, freezing cold and inevitable death. It’s not exactly a vacation spot.

But just as climate change recently caused a big chunk of the Antarctic ice sheet to break off, the not-so-slow warming of the planet could cause other, formerly solid blocks of ice to break away, or melt away, revealing long-hidden lands. And possibly, as turns out to be the case in Unmapped, long-hidden ancient archaeological sites containing priceless artifacts and even weapons of great and deadly power.

This isn’t the first long-lost archaeological treasure trove where the agents of Treasure Hunter Security have crossed paths (and swords) with the power-hungry mercenaries of Silk Road, and it probably won’t be the last. But it’s certainly the coldest and most remote.

Which is why Silk Road made polar guides (and twin sisters) Amber and Peri Butler offers that they really should have refused to lead an expedition to Antarctica, in the WINTER. Unfortunately, only Peri turned them down, and now Amber is out of contact and Peri fears the absolute worst – with good reason.

Peri stalks the THS offices, in the hopes of either finding an ally to help her rescue her sister, or a Silk Road affiliate that will lead her to her sister’s location. It’s a good thing she finds the former, because either she’s not nearly as good at hiding as she thinks she is, or the THS agents are much better at stalking spies than she gave them credit for. Or at least ex-SEAL and current THS agent Ronin Cooper is.

Unlike many of the adventures in the THS series, while the good people of THS may not know everything they need to know about what Silk Road is after this time, they do at least know as much as the heroine who hires them knows. Once Peri is in, she is all in, sharing her intel with THS along with the danger of the rescue.

Of which she is an integral part. While all of the heroines and heroes who have become involved with the THS agents have all been capable in their fields, Peri has an expertise in extreme cold-weather expeditions that is crucial to the success of the mission.

She’s going to need all the help she can get to melt the ice around Ronin Cooper’s heart.

Escape Rating A-: One of the things I love about Unmapped is that the hero and heroine are equals every step of the way. They both have skills that are necessary to accomplish the mission, which is not saving either one of them, but saving a third person, Peri’s sister Amber. Who is herself a strong heroine.

This is a hallmark of not just the whole Treasure Hunter Security series but ALL of Anna Hackett’s fiction. It never comes down to the strong hero rescuing the weaker heroine. Ever. Instead, it’s always two strong people discovering that they are stronger together than they are separately, and that they help glue each other’s broken places together. Nothing is ever one-sided.

Which does not stop Ronin, the hero of Unmapped, from being an idiot when it comes to his own heart. He falls into the trap of believing that he is not worthy of being loved, due to horrific circumstances in his past. He does attempt to do the stupid and try to send Peri away. Fortunately she’s too smart for that.

In addition to her usual fantastic blend of action, adventure and romance, one of the parts of Unmapped that I liked best was the portrayal of conditions in Antarctica and the portraits of the scientific team at the base camp. It takes a special kind of person to want to spend season after season in the loneliest place on earth, and the author captures that beautifully.

Last but not least, the ending of Unmapped seems to be setting up the story that I have been waiting for since the very beginning of this series back in Undiscovered. It looks like we’re finally going to get the romance between Darcy Ward, THS’ co-owner and technical wizard, and the FBI Agent she can’t get out of either her head or her system (in both senses of that word), Alistair Burke.

This will be grand!

This was something a little different, similar to the last book but also similar to the third book.
This was once again a good candidate for the writer to use the MCs past as a way to build character while moving the plot forward. And character building in this instance would have been ideal, because out of all the cast of ‘Treasure Hunter’ Ronin was the least written about.
Making a debut appearance FOUR BOOKS IN Ronin goes largely unexplained and has more in common with the shadows he hides in than a properly fleshed out character taking centerstage in his own novel. Which in a way makes sense given how the others describe him, but when he has literally no character development outside of feeling warmer emotions then something is seriously wrong with the character part of your story. He’s so 2 (almost 1) dimensional that the so called “character arc” he goes through by the end feels cheap and unearned. There felt like there was zero struggle to finding his new identity as one half of a relationship, which in turn also makes Peri seem a little shallow as a character too. There’s no REAL emotional growth, its just lust to love not in-between internally debating. And yet again the “villain is from Main Person’s past as current baddie” wasn’t used (even if it wasn’t as obvious as the third books could have been).

The premise of the story sounded so interesting and seemed like a natural progression in the series, but the execution was just a little off. This is yet another story in this series that sufferers from “get the plot down now” syndrome, which sacrifices internal growth in concert with plot progression, for action-now-plot-moving. If there was more pages of build up and journey then this story would have been much fuller and the characters would have developed in a more natural, slower way making the story better.
That they were ultimately save by the covert group (Team 52, making me wonder what happened to team 1-51…) at the end also makes this feel rushed and not really planned out. A little anticlimactic is putting it mildly. Not to mention the whole “this never happened” and the city was never “discovered”, but they also seemed to gloss over the whole they had vehicles and there was no bodies or burial places found, sure the stone eluded to the people just abandoning the city and ice covered a lot of the area but still. Not to mention that NOT ONE of the character ventured into ANY of the homes or buildings to see what got left behind.

Also side note; NOBODY recovers from Hypothermia THAT fast! But then there’s also frostbite to consider. Book 4 also had this problem with the allergic reaction.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Series: Treasure Hunter Security #6
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

Peridot " Peri" Butler has been stalking THS to find out if they can be trusted. She needs help saving her twin sister from Silk Road. Unfortunately she isn’t very good at going unnoticed and is caught multiple times by Ronin. Ronin wants to know why this beautiful redhead is spying on him and finds himself with another mission against Silk Road, this time to Antarctica.

I really liked Peri. She is an experienced polar guide and world traveler. She is smart, sassy, and isn’t afraid to say what she feels. I love how she is constantly pushing Ronin to open up and feel again. She doesn’t let him hide his feelings. Ronin was an interesting character. He has had a rough upbringing and his time in the SEALs and CIA did not help matters. I wish we could have seen more development with him and overcoming his past.

I quite enjoyed this visit to Antarctica. It was a very fascinating ancient civilization and had some interesting dangers. I love how unique the sites are for this series. We have been to Egypt, underwater, and now in the arctic finding treasure. This series makes me so happy and pushes me to learn more about ancient civilizations (which I already love learning about).

I can’t wait for Darcy and Alistair’s book. These two have been bumping heads since the beginning and I know it’s going to be a good story.

CW: kidnapped sibling; gun and knife violence; death; child abandonment mentioned;

Ronin, the silent, enigmatic member of THS, gets his chance to connect with his special someone. And she's a bit of a firecracker. In a good way. Peri's focused and determined and kind of the perfect match for Ronin.

But first, they have to do the thing were they swoop in, thwart the bad guys, and save the day. You know, while getting acquainted in the BEST way. In the Antarctic. Where it's cold and a little dangerous.

Good times!

A fair amount of danger, some simmering sexual tension, a kiss or two in the cold, and SO MANY CRAZY THINGS. This series has entertained from the beginning and things are only getting more dangerous and deadly as Silk Road ups the stakes. Excellent!

This is another excellent story; it is intriguing and centres around the two complex characters of Peri and Ronin. Peri has spent her life travelling around and all she wants to do is settle down, but cannot rest until she knows her twin sister, Amber, is safe and out of the clutches of Silk Road. Ronin comes from a humble background but made a life for himself in the SEAL’s, the CIA, and now THS. Never one for wanting to settle down, Ronin is a “loner”. An immediate attraction between the two changes their perspective. All they have to do is rescue Amber from Silk Road and decide where they go from there. In addition, there were a few more interesting twists and turns to the story that made for an enthralling read. This is a book I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending.

Peri is so confused, she doesn’t know who to trust, especially when Amber, her twin sister, is at risk. THS appears to be legitimate, but because they were often linked with Silk Road she wonders if they were actually a front for the black-market ring. Ronin has noticed Peri spying on THS a few times, but finally confronts her; now she has questions to answer. As an experienced polar guide, Peri had been approached to guide an expedition to Antarctica, but something didn’t seem right, so she had declined. Her sister, Amber, had had no qualms about taking the job, but should have returned by now; Peri believes that somehow Silk Road is involved, having funded the expedition. Amber’s cryptic voicemail, once deciphered, leads to a hidden thumb drive containing data on the expedition; not only is there another top level Silk Road leader involved but the hunt is on for an ancient artifact of power. From the moment Peri and Ronin meet there is an instant attraction. Ronin finds Peri pretty in a unique kind of way; he has always liked unique and is good at seeing beneath the obvious. But pity was the one thing Ronin never wanted and never needed, even if he did reveal a “secret” to Peri. Peri had been brought up to be self-sufficient and independent from an early age and she has a habit of just blurting things out; she didn’t play games or put on pretenses. Peri has her sights set on Ronin even if he is big, bad and dangerous; something told her he was one of the good guys, even if he didn’t believe it himself. There is so much more to him; courage, an unshakable sense of right and wrong and the bravery to do the things others didn’t want to do in order to protect; he just has to let her close and feel, not to be afraid to take emotional risks. Ronin had rescued a lot of people in his lifetime, but had rarely offered them comfort, or had the right words to help make them feel better. While Amber’s clues help, nothing can prepare Peri or the THS team for their journey ahead, which is thwart with danger at every turn. Will they finally accomplish their mission, or will there be outside influences intent on stopping them in their tracks? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

The Treasure Hunter Security book, Unmapped, was phenomenal. Just like all her other books.
Are they a tad too short? Yes, but that's only because the stories are so good and you love the hot steamy romance between the characters! Like her other books, the story moves QUICK and the heat ramps up pretty damn fast. Personally, I like a slow burn, a gradual movement into hot and steamy action. The anticipation, the wait, the just-fk-her-now-goddamn-it!

Peri comes to THS because she believes her sister is being held captive by Silk Road. Her sister was asked to lead an expedition into Antartica, and was due to arrive days ago. Yet she hasn't appeared. The only thing she knows is that her sister left her a cryptic message. Now it's up to Peri and THS to find her sister and save the day! This book involves Ronin Cooper. A dark, silent, not so many words kind of guy. I liked his character a lot. He didn't say much, but when he did it was usually naughty/suggestive. The teasing between Peri and Ronin was cute, i found myself smiling at the flirty nature of the two. I also liked Ronin's inner dialogue. He was definitely conflicted. He's had a rough past and doesn't feel he'll ever have the 'american dream'. White picket fence, a woman to love, and a dog to go with it. Peri on the other hand, although scared to death for her sister, she's proven to be very strong willed. She'll have moments of fear and weakness, but ultimately, she pulls herself up, lifts her chin, and is determined throughout. And hey, who says you can't save your sister AND fall in love?

The only thing i couldn't really understand or perhaps tie to, is that she is worried her sister is dead or being held captive, or who knows what by the villains of Silk Road. But she's immediately attracted to Ronin, checking out his butt. To me, I'd be so overwhelmed with worry, how could i possibly think about seducing a man? Can i believe a man and a woman can fall romantically in heat with each other during such a search and rescue action adventure? You betcha! Do i feel like it would have happened THAT quick? Not really. But again, that's me. I like the gradual slow burn type romance. You know where they meet, there is mutual attraction in their heads, but ultimately stick to the rescue. Then overtime, as they face danger after danger, grow close, and close enough to finally take the plunge! Not really this story. It's a slam bam thank you ma'am book! And there's nothing wrong with it! Just wished they were a bit longer, like 200-300 pages longer.

Even so. Anna did a fucking great job as always and i absolutely devoir these books. This one i finished in one day. They're quick, easy, fun reads! They hit the spot! ;)

Are you as broken as you think you are?

Ronin Cooper is sure that he or THS are stalked by a copper-haired woman, first time he saw her, had been at the wedding, but she showed up a couple of other times, evading his direct grip and therefore interrogation. Peridot Butler is on the search of allies, flailing in a web where she does not know who is ally or foe, she desperately wants to believe that THS are the good guys and also that they can help her sister. It appears that Amber had been drawn into a Silk Road mission and Peri needs to find her.

Soon Peri, Ronin and others from THS are on their way to Antarctica to find Amber and to figure out what Silk Road is this time up to.

As always, you have strong smart characters. Ronin is a former Seal and CIA agent who keeps to himself, broken by his past, he does not believe in HEA or love. Peri is the opposite, loving life and finally wanting to settle down with a house, white fence and so on.
It seems that Ronin is what Peri needs, not one of her usual types, and Peri is what Ronin needs.

Silk Road is giving us all again a reason to hate them and more from their structure will be revealed. We are having a race against time and a rescue mission not only for Peris sister but also for something Silk Road is desperately searching for, going to no ends in order to achieve it.

You can’t err with a THS book as long as you like action, adventure, treasure and great characters. I read all THS books so far and not one disappointed. While most books are based on true legends mixed with fiction, this book is mostly a fictional work. The characters had been authentic, likeable and the storyline also quite good.

A great read that made time fly past. The only thing I did not like about it is that Silk Road seems to be a Nazi organization , purely searching for artifacts that the Ahnenerbe had been after. Reminds me strongly about Indiana Jones, Agents of Shield and so on. A bit uncreative while it has a grain of truth in it. I have seen enough big bad Nazi stereotypes in movies, books, …

But overall I can recommend the book. THS is clearly one of my favorite series at the moment.
And you also get a glimpse about one of the next books which I can’t wait to read (Darcy’s story).

THRILLING SIZZLING ROMANCE

An exhilarating story that takes you into the icy world of Antarctica, where danger lurks as Silk Road will destroy anyone that stops them from their goal of finding the hidden treasure they want. There is plenty of action, life-threatening moments, suspense, breathtaking vivid scene descriptions, fiery passionate romance and a happy ever after to keep you entertained.

Ronin ex-Navy Seal is hot and his Herculean build and protective nature make him a force to be reckoned with. His past haunts his dreams and he has never been in love. Peri is a beauty, audacious, and quick witted. Peri's twin Amber is in the hands of the dangerous Silk Road. Peri's missions are to find her sister with the help of Treasure Hunter Security and to capture the heart of the closed off Ronin.

Thrilling story that has you turning pages until the end. The back stories give insight into the characters personas. The banter between Ronin and Peri is fabulous, their romance is true, filled with much devotion and happiness; loved them together. Both are quite the heroes and work well together. If you love sultry ex-Navy Seals with an Indiana Jones twist this a fantastic book for your library. I relished this story so much {I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.

Ronin Cooper has had the feeling he is being followed and spied on for a while now even though he hasn't been able to catch the culprit. He's certain he is being followed as he makes a coffee run for the Treasure Hunter Security office. The ex-SEAL has a few tricks of his own and uses his skills to capture the spy. Peri Butler has been shadowing Ronin and others of THS to try to decide if they are the good guys or if their frequent run ins with Silk Road makes them rivals of the criminal organization. Ronin carries Peri back to the office and there she finally decides she has to trust them. She and her sister are well trained Arctic guides. Amber, Peri's sister, has taken a job to guide a group to Antarctica and has missed a scheduled check in. Peri investigates the group Amber is guiding and discovers they are part of Silk Road. Peri offers to hire THS to try to save her sister and quickly finds that THS isn't for hire but they will go after Silk Road to save Amber. Peri then points out the even with SEAL training Ronin and the others aren't experienced trained Arctic guides and she is going with them. Once on Antarctica ice, the action becomes fast and furious as the Treasure Hunter Security men are fighting to stay alive and save an innocent woman.

G-Men need love, too!

The action never stops in this pulse-pounding series! Unmapped takes us to Antarctica and long burried secrets that if unearthed could change the course of the world. And its history.

Ronin Cooper, *the* badass in a sea of badassery, of Treasure Hunter Security is a quintessential loner. The man who does what needs to be done. The man who steps up so others dont have too. As a retired SEAL and
former CIA agent, he perfected that role and figured he was undeserving of affection. (Break my heart) Until Peri.

Peri Butler, polar field guide expert, hires THS when her twin sister, also a polar guide, goes missing on a job in Antarctica. The attraction between Peri and Ronin is instant, deep, and easy. The hard part for Peri, who wears her heart on her sleeve, is getting Ronin to take a chance, admit they rock together, and realize even G-Men need love and hugs.

With heart warming romance, non stop adventure, the insidious Silk Road, deceit, murder, and a visit from the men in black, this book hooks you, reels you in, and doesnt let you down. This series is amazing and this particular book is outstanding. Okay, they all are. I love the obvious research paired with wonderful "what if" that makes these books such a rousing success.

Another rinse and repeat

I loved this author’s Hell Squad series, but this series has been a bit disappointing and this book the worst yet. Once again Ms Hackett uses the very familiar theme, boy is too damaged because he has seen, heard, done too much to be worthy of girl but he can’t stay away. They make love, have a few deep discussions and boom they are in love and boy is healed. It is trite, but this isn’t supposed to be true to life so I wouldn’t mind it if she hadn’t used the same scenario in every book in this series. Same exact problem with the “action” portion of these books. Lost city, lost artifact with mythical powers, and killer ruthless Silk Road thugs; who can’t shoot a fish in a barrel or the broad side of a barn. The good guys can take out the bad guys without injury when it is high kicks vs. guns. Wait, at times the good guys have access to guns and still chose to punch and kick against bad guys with guns, and yet we still win against overwhelming odds. And then at the end we don’t even get to see what any of the mystical artifacts can do before they are appropriated by Team 54.

I do like the camaraderie between the THS group. So far I like the foreshadowing for Darcy’s book which may be the only different book in the series.

We finally get to meet the mysterious woman who has been watching the team from Treasure Hunter Security in the previous book! When Ronin Cooper confronts her, he finds out she is in desperate need of help. Peri Butler, an expert polar guide, is looking for her missing sister. Her sister is also a guide and hasn't been heard from since taking a job with, what they now know is, the dangerous black-market antiquities ring, Silk Road. THS agrees to help find, and rescue her sister. Peri has clues, that her sister left for her, that has them trailing this deadly organization to Antarctica. Ronin is former SEAL, and ex CIA and has seen too much tragedy, making him feel he is better off alone. Peri and her sister have grown up all over the world, and now she just wants to put down roots. These opposites, in the face of harrowing danger, form a connection neither expected. Ronin and Peri have fiery chemistry as they face chilling and deadly encounters, together. Hackett has a way of balancing action packed suspense with hot sizzling romance in her stories that always keeps me riveted. Stella Bloom continues to take my breath away with her expressive narration that brings these characters and this heart-pounding and steamy story to life.

Holy Polar Ice!!!

This series gets better with each story! Ronin's backstory broke my heart. The scene where Ronin said that "no one wanted him" had me screaming "I WANT YOU!!!" Peri handled Ronin well and gave him the space he needed without backing down. In "Unmapped," Ronin is a former Navy Seal and G-Man, and Peri (Peridot) is an experienced adventure guide and entrepreneur. Peri seeks out Treasure Hunters Security (THS), unconventionally, to help save her twin sister, Amber. The story takes off when Ronin discovers Peri secretly scoping out the Team. He captures and brings Peri back to the THS lair. Once again, Anna Hackett provides a fast-paced, action-packed, romantic adventure. I enjoy the mixture of history and folklore with an Indiana Jones vibe. However, there is not much of a slow-burn romance like in the Hell Squad series, which I miss. There is something exciting about the slow anxiety-filled sexual tension between the two main characters. It is the wide-up before the pitch! It appears these characters fall in love in a matter of days. Take the buildup between Darcy and Agent Burke. I am excited to read their story because of the buildup. Just an observation. Otherwise, the THS series is amazing.

Adventure, Frenzy: As always, this is the main strength of this saga (and possibly this author). Easy-to-read short books with action cramped everywhere so you don’t have a single moment to get bored. Perfect book to read when you are feeling lazy.

Weak: The previous books of this series had juicy cultural tidbits that made them special. Even though this one has some of that, the amount pales in comparision with the stories that came before. It is a shame.

Bad sex: By now I know I will find insta-love in this books, so I activate the proper mindset to try to enjoy it. In this case is so “insta” that is even fun. The uthor goes even crazier about the places the main couple chooses to get naughty. My probelm resides that in this case, the decision of having sex is taken only by Ronin. He feels like having sex and he goes for it. No questions asked. I’m not saying that Peri is not a willing participant, but going full contact with someone without a previous hint or insinuation is just wrong.

From the deert sands of Africa to the icy cold world of Antarctica, the THS team goes in search of a missing polar guid. Peri Butler spies on THS in an effort to determine if they are in league with Silk Road. She knew when this group came seeking a guide for a polar expedition that something wasn't on the up and up. Her sister, Amber, took the job. Now she's missed check-ins. Ronin Cooper finally nabs the woman he's seen on several occasions lurking around THS events and team members. He captures and questions her. The feisty copper haired, brash, foul mouthed woman with a take no prisoners attitude convinces the THS team to help her locate her sister. It takes no time that Silk Road is up to their thieving, murderous ways as they search for an ancient artifact. The search takes them and THS into a frozen, abandoned underground city. Danger lurks at every turn. After Peri saves Ronin's life the icy, protective walls he's built around his heart start to melt. Peri is not about to let him shut her out. The mysterious "good guys" team that showed up in Madagascar once again arrives to save the day.

This is the sixth book in the Treasure Hunter Security franchise, a thrilling romantic adventure action series addition set in the frozen Antarctic. Ronin Cooper, former SEAL, ex CIA and current loner THS agent, is sure he's being followed. But when he apprehends the woman in question, she refuses to tell him who she is or why she's been shadowing him. It turns out Peri Butler is as suspicious of THS being in league with Silk Road as Ronin and THS are of her. All that changes when Silk Road comes after her when she's with Ronin following clues left by her missing twin sister. Amber, like Peri, is an experienced Artic guide and she took a job in the Antartic for a company Peri now knows is a front for the black market antiquities thieves. Silk Road is following in the footsteps of Nazis in WWII, who were looking for an ancient weapon. And Silk Road let's nothing stand in their path, just as they never leave witnesses to their crimes. With them on the scene, it will be a fight to the finish.
This review is of a prerelease copy, and is voluntary and my honest opinion.

Oh in the name of all that's good - I need to work at THS! With all these hot, muscled, not too mention damn talented, men floating around - I'd kill for this eye candy. But hot as they are, they are also highly deadly and with a few chinks and dings in the armour around their hearts, they are just flawed enough to make them believable.

Ronin's back story is enough to make your heart hurt and although he has not let it define who he is, it has definitely made an impact on his life choices. Peri is just so...perky! She should be annoying or at least irksome but no she slid right under the radar and I LOVED her!

The backdrop of Antarctica was a brilliant change and I could tell how much research had gone into depicting the geography and even the conspiracy theories of what is under all that ice! Agent Arrogant and Annoying makes a little deal with Darcy, which I'm sure is going to come back and bite her in the butt!!!

Unmapped by Anna Hackett was an unbelievably delightful read. It had all a action adventure romance could want. When a dark brooding rugged Ronin Cooper suspects that him ans his team are being watch he has no other choice but spring into action, expecting to find danger he finds more then he bargained for in a small petite red head looking for anything but trouble
Peri Bulter was a well traveled and independent young woman. She and her sister Amber worked together. So when Amber goes missing on a job Peri felt she should've have taken she has no other choice but seek the help and trust in other which she very rarely did. She seeks the help of THS what she gets is is a whole heap of trouble and the company of a stubborn man. What she didn't expect was an adventure of a life time and a chance of a life she always dreamed of and maybe the love of a good man , that is if she didn't die trying to save her sister first.

I am absolutely loving the Treasure Hunter Security Series. Each story has a different couple and best of all you get to catch up with past couples who have found their happily ever after. Ronin who picked out his own name at eight after being dumped into the system as a baby. Parts of his life have been on blood soaked battlefields and dark alleys doing jobs guaranteed to give you nightmares. He deems himself not suitable for a normal relationship but he has met his match in Peri who is a specialist in survival skills and a excellent guide. Ronin and Peri will need both their special skills to stay alive while searching for her sister Amber who unbeknown took on a job with Silk Road to find artefacts in the Antarctica. A big thank you to Anna Hackett for the wonderfully entertaining review copy. With the Treasure Hunter Security Series you are always learning something new about the places they go for their expeditions weather it is the jungle, the desert or Antarctica

Unmapped is book six in the Treasure Hunter Security Series by Anna Hackett. I haven't read all of the other books in the series and I confess I was a bit lost in the beginning trying to identify all the characters and understand who did what. After that, the plot moves so fast, with so many twists and turns that it doesn't matter anymore, so I can safely say that the book can be read as a stand alone without major issues.
In terms of storyline and suspense I found in more consistent than other books by Ana Hackett I've read before. The romance part of the plot didn't convince me much, though. There are several rather explicit sex scenes but other than that I did not really see how Ronin and Peri could fall in love and move ahead to the whole house-in-the-suburbs-with-a-white-picket-fence-and-a-dog thing.
Still, Unmapped is a quick, gripping and fast paced book. It can be read in one sitting and it's fairly good in its genre.

An icy adventure!

As usual, Anna Hackett has combined action/adventure with a sizzling romance! Tough as nails Ronin Cooper of THS has never had a family or a home and has become cynical enough to be content with his bachelor's life! Then he notices someone watching him.
Peri is worried about her sister Amber. She and Amber (her twin) are both polar guides, with Amber more of a specialist in taking people to the Antarctic while she is more at home in the Arctic. But now Amber hasn't returned from her last expedition and Peri had discovered that the employers were Silk Road, ruthless, antiquities black market dealers.
Peri has been following Ronin to try to determine if THS is to be trusted.
Once Ronin turns the tables on her she finds herself explaining the problem to THS who are only too happy to help.
From then on she is caught up in a rip roaring ride with the sexy Ronin who makes it clear that he's not interested in settling down.

Really enjoyed it, but I don’t like it when women have to chase men!

Ronin is a hard cynical ex seal and ex CIA. When he realises that he’s being followed by a woman he takes her to the THS base. Peri’ s twin sister has been taken by the Silk Road and she didn’t know who to trust.
The team goes to Antarctica to rescue her and stop the Silk Road as well. On the journey Ronin fights his feelings for her and she chases him.

I know he’s had a hard life and she sees something in him that she wants, but good grief have some pride! She’s practically begging him at one point to kiss her!!!! If you have to work so hard at convincing someone to be in a relationship with you, is it worth it?

Having said all that, the sex scenes are hot!! When he finally gives in! Peri is a strong character who knows what she wants and I liked her. Ronin’s whining about the things he has done and he’s a bad person, grated on me. Sorry it’s only my opinion.

Another one bites the dust! I love these T.H.S. stories!
Ronin Cooper seems always in the gloom. He's seen too much, done too much, not fit for a family and a white picket fence existence. Peri Butler needs help. Her sister's missing; she's hoping Treasure Hunter Security will help her find Amber. In Antarctica. During the worst time of year. Getting to know more about Ronin and Peri is certainly a window into the persons they've become - admirable, but each is looking for a missing something. Have they found what they need?

This is a super exciting adventure! There are so many potential pitfalls, even without encountering Silk Road. And when they show up...watch out!
I also love the enticement of what may be coming in a future story.
