Nickie’s an investigative journalist who recently faced some of the worst men she’s ever confronted — which would’ve been fine if the FBI hadn’t lost them when she’d practically handed them over on a silver platter.
She vacations in Cancun to get away from the horrors she saw while probing into the human trafficking organization, and doesn’t expect they’ll be able to find her while she travels under another of her pen names.
Bud is in Mexico on club business, staying in a Cancun resort dressed as an American businessman. He meets the beautiful Nicole and gets caught up protecting her when he discovers she’s all alone in Mexico with human traffickers after her. She’d paid the resort extra to provide protection services, but Bud fears the bad guys have outbid her and bought her security out from under her.
Can Bud take an investigative journalist home to Atlanta? She’s good at her job, will she turn on him if she discovers how the MC makes most of their money? His wolf isn’t taking no for an answer, and once Bud discovers Nickie writes BDSM Romance under a pen name, he isn’t inclined to argue with his inner animal.
Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.
Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.
Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.
Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.
Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Sadistic bad boy Bud finally gets his own book. I was mixed reading this book because I didn't like Bud from the few times he made an appearance in this series. Not sure why he bothered me so much from the few glimpses I saw of him, other than it felt like he disrespected females. Not as if he went out of his way to put women down. More like their existent to him seemed worthless. The impression I had of him was that women were less useful than property. After he lost his mate, any hole would work for him. In addition, women had no place to speak, ever. He came across to me as one of those guys who will never purposely go out of his way to hurt a woman, but he wouldn't help them unless he gets something out of it. And the only value a woman has for him is to receive cum in any of the three holes or all over their body. I hated him because it is more than the Madonna versus Whore persona he seemed to embrace. The way he allowed his daughter to be exposed to how women around her were treated - sweetbutt versus ole ladies just bugged me.
To my surprise, seeing from Bud's eyes is completely different. Understanding how he thinks and why he does things helped me see a different side of him and I ended up liking him. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to be friends, but I can appreciate all he does. Plus he is a hawt sadist who can dole out pain beautifully. Bud likes to say he is a simple guy, but he is more complex as we look at his layers. There are some businesses he runs in his motorcycle club that are clearly illegal. Working with drug dealers by supplying them special guns is not okay with me. This is criminal activity for me. Then again, I'm bias because I do not endorse or condone drug usage. In this way I am similar to Bud I guess. No drugs allowed but if people want to screw up their own life with drugs, have at it. Less competition for me and my family. I digress.
What I did like about Bud is how his chapter runs brothels. I get that many people have issues with prostitutes. I never did and never understand the hang up if the person who is selling their body wants to do it. That is the key difference. It is not the same as human trafficking which is the sticking point for Nickie, Bud's love interest. Surprisingly, my view of Nickie from the beginning of the book to the end changed, and not for the better.
This book is character driven as Nickie - investigative reporter and erotic romance writer clashes with Bud, President of a motorcycle club. It seems like a simple good girl falling for the bad boy. It's more complicated than that because both characters are driven to right the wrongs they perceive. Both abhor human trafficking, especially underage children. But their execution of how to stop the human traffickers is different. I have to admit, I'm more with Bud and his method. Nickie is not naive but her way of thinking gives off a judgmental vibe that is hypocritically. She mistakenly takes Bud to task when she thinks he is slut shaming her. Yet what is it she is doing to these women who sell their body? She believes she knows better and that they need to be rescued. She even dives into their personal life to find everything about them. Seriously, she wants to keep her life private with all her "secrets" yet she has no problem trying to "fix" others by showing them her right way. At that point, Nickie went from protector of abused to a See You Next Tuesday. I lost all respect for her and even at the end of the book, couldn't be bothered with her. I think Bud settled for a woman who isn't good enough for him. I never thought I would think that going into this book.
Nickie's holier than thou attitude rubs me the wrong way. It is probably because I'm more sensitive to it. Others may not see it at all. Regardless, this attitude is well written as a conflict between Bud and Nickie. I like how their conflicts are realistic in financial disparity and ideology. What is on the surface may not be what lays underneath. There is no doubt Nickie's intent is for the good. Bud's intent and how he executes it is more grounded in reality. Nickie's feels too ivory tower fantasy. Her idea of just "saving" someone from prostitution without taking in to consideration the after effect is what Bud teaches her. And this is why I love Ms. Blevins. She takes concepts that people think are black and white and shows why it is not. She shows how solutions on paper do not reflect reality. I have no idea if there are brothels like the ones described in this series. I kind of wish there were. It sounds lovely.
Ideology aside, the erotic parts to this story are supernova hawt! On a scale of one to ten, maybe an eleven. A word to the wise, do not read this book on an airplane or in public. Unintentionally moaning may commence and cause strangers to look at you funny. Watching Nickie and Bud work through how they would get kinky with each other is fantastic. The scenes are trademark Ms. Blevins intense. Nickie's bratting was quite cute. I have to side with her when she describes herself as a SAM instead of a brat. As Bud says, potato potahto. The only thing I think this story needed was a diagram for the scene between Bud, Nickie and Dave, the slave. I could not visualize it because words just become words after awhile. It is also probably because I have never had a threesome in this manner so without the experience, it is hard to visualize exactly how the body parts all worked together. And it probably didn't help that I didn't read it too closely because I was more focused on the sadistic and sexy bits. If Ms. Blevin's muse is kind, maybe we will be treated to Bud and Nickie co-domming a submissive man and woman together. The hints of what they would do or can do has me all a titter.
This paranormal erotic novel is highly recommended to kinky readers who love alpha males who give orders and expect them to be followed without question. Buy this book now.
This was book 10 in the "Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club" series. We first meet Bud in Bash and Angelica' s book he is her father he is also the President of the Atlanta chapter. I was so glad Bud got his own book in the past books he was arrogant and cocky. While in Mexico on club business he meets an investigative journalist by the name of Nickie who is being hunted by some human traffickers she is also is an erotic romance author and in her personal life she is a masochistic switch. I really liked Nickie she was smart she can defend herself and she kept Bud on his toes. Bud was a sadist who got off on using his belt on her and it was hot and so was the threesome they had with Nathan The Lion King who I would love to read more about. Turns out the bad chasing her are shifter's and when they attack Nickie uses head even when they begin shifting. Nickie is pissed when Gavin puts her in a trans and has one of the head of the supernatural broad talk her bond her. Bud really liked her and was willing to do anything to protect her he wants a relationship with her and so does his wolf he hasn't wanted anyone since his wife died. Nickie is not use to someone telling her what to do so each of them have to adjust to being in a relationship. I also liked when Nickie found out about the hookers and she talked to them to make sure they weren't being abused or made to do it. I also liked that Bud got her a slave to play with even though he wasn't sure if his wolf would go for it and it turned him on. This book was full of action and hot sex scenes. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Bud. Wow. RTMCs newest addition and it slid right up there in the front of the line for me. Candace really brought Bud to life you could just about feel him through the kindle. Yeah Ill give Nikkie a bit of that credit, (smiles) I was rather cool on Nikkie at the beginning, kinda warmed up to her by the end. *smirks a little*
You have the money to do what you want, how you wants over many times. Because you’re just that damn good at what you do. Nicole is good at stirring the pot and this pot just make get a bit hotter than she’d like. The sexy sassy writer took some time to relax and unwind a bit or so she thought. The high light of the trip? Bud a hot male that just oozed sex and made her girly parts quiver.
Even the head of a MC needs some downtime, Bud thought to mix just a bit of business with some relax time. When he just about ran into/over a frantic girly girl he was thinking as he looked at the beauty maybe his vacay just got a bit more interesting.
Interesting is putting it mildly when the woman that makes his wolf wanna howl, has got some issues she is only vaguely aware of. Then little miss nosey thinks she needs answers to questions Bud isn’t going to answer. Legal do’s and don’t come into play but Bud’s wolf is all about Nikkie so Bud needs to figure out it works.
Ohh and we get visits from previous characters… mmmm Nathan. Gavin heck he’s just creepy in a hot kinda way.(Candace he needs a bigger part. Fans face) Rules are made to be broken, well not the rules set by the governing council. I really liked how Candace wrote Bud’s personality especially when he thought about Nathan. (That was Fab!) the scenes were hot and done with research/knowledge. I loved the “lessons”
This is a stand alone. But it so worth it to read the series in its entirety. For me Ms. Blevins knocked it out of the ball park. I recommend it and Voluntarily read and review it. Enjoy.
OMG - this is freakin' awesome! And not for the faint of heart. I love the drama, sex, suspense, sex, Nickie's quirkiness & strengths, the sex, and even Bud's "kinks". I don't usually enjoy S/M as gritty as these guys get, but it def works with them! Did I mention that the sex was HOT? What could be hotter than a Wolf Shifter who just happens to be a 1% MC Prez? How about one who's also a die-hard Sadistic Dom who falls for a Masochist who yearns to be dominated, but is also a Domme who enjoys inflicting pain on her subs? But, Nickie has yet to learn that a naturally Dominant alpha male (shifter) doesn't "play" by standard BDSM club rules. There is so much packed into this book - the dynamics of two totally different individuals, from polar opposite walks of life, drug cartel danger, international human traffickers, (possible) FBI corruption, as well as the struggle of accepting a way of life totally contrary to how you view it. The action & suspense will keep you reading until the very end. Author Candace Blevins has created two totally in depth characters and allowed them to "find" not only each other, but themselves. This book is very well written. I won an ARC in a giveaway and am now off to get the rest of this series, from the beginning!
FINALLY!!!! I have wanted Bud to get his HEA for soooo long and it's finally here! Bud is the President of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, Atlanta Chapter, and he has made an appearance in many books in this series and I always had a soft spot for him and it totally has to do with the way he is with his daughter, Angelica, (you can find Angelica's HEA in Bash). Any man that puts everything he has into raising his daughter like the princess she is gets major points in my book, total sucker for a good dad. Bud has been single ever since his wife was killed in a car accident 20+ years ago; he never thought he would find someone that he would want to spend forever with again, but that all changes when he meets Nickie while in Cancun.
So...this one was not my favorite. Nickie was a bit too preachy for me at times and I didn't quite always understand her moods or needs but I loved other things about her, like her non jealousy and her upfront needs and wants....but I really didn't get the connection for Bud. I get why he wanted to have sex with her but they just never seemed like a great fit, especially not compared to other couples in the series. Granted, it's kinky in a whole different way (but still wholly satisfying) then the previous books in some ways (not in others, there is still a lot of S/m in this book).
Still a great universe and I like revisiting the characters. There are still books to buy in the series and I'm off to get another one.
Also...I should add that I felt like I was probably reading some biographical character traits with Nickie being an author and this author being into the scene and stuff. So I kept wondering how much was Nickie and how much was Candace and it was a little distracting... Like does she have a bunch of different pseudonyms and does she do investigative journalism as one of her psueds, etc, etc, etc (Not to mention the whole kink preferences attached to Nickie... I get that it's none of my business but it got my curiosity going and distracted me a lot)
Intriguing, intense and interesting … that is what best describes Bud by Candace Blevins. I couldn’t write the review right after I read the book. I had to sit and let everything sink in. I had to process Bud and his wolf falling for Nickie. I had to process the author and journalist angle. I had to process the intensity of masochism and sadism throughout the story. Don’t get me wrong, I know what I am getting when I pick up a book by Ms. Blevins and am prepared for just about anything that she throws at us. But, these two didn’t make sense to me so I had to really think about writing this review. Bud was wonderfully written and the story just flowed off the pages of the book but I did have a hard time with Nickie.
Bud was, and still is, a little bit of a mystery. He is powerful man and his arrogance and personality come across perfectly in the story. He says what he means and means what he says. He is up front about needing to cause pain and demands respect. He tries to give Nickie everything she needs and does make concessions for her. But, by no means, will he take a back-seat to her. He understands and respects her individualism and independence, but he had a need to able to take care of her as well.
Nickie knew her own mind. Followed her own rules. Made her own decisions. She was also willful, unforgiving and determined to find out everything that she could about Bud. She loved what he did to her, how he made her feel but didn’t trust him to be doing something illegal. When she does find out one of his business ventures, instead of trusting and talking to him, instead of listening to the people around her, she takes matters into her own hands. When she finds out the truth, she still has trouble accepting it. She had extremely high standards, flaunted her morals and, at times, came off as being better than those around her.
There is also a point where I felt like Nickie was in the relationship for herself more than for the both of them. Bud made a lot of concessions for her and then she gets her feelings hurt when she goes behind his back and he gets upset. Yep, Nickie came off a wee bit spoiled. And, that is where I had the problem with her.
Candace Blevins brings her characters, both human and paranormal, to life. I love the habit she has of bringing in supernaturals from other series and other books into her current stories. She keeps her readers entertained and invested in her stories by doing this and keeps us up to date with what is going on in their lives. She has a way of writing a story that draws you in. Her characters are all well written, her sex scenes come alive and jump off the pages at you. She gets you to understand the mindset of a sadist and a masochist and the power exchanges between them. Was I surprised that she wrote a “brat”? Yes. But, she also made us understand the consequences of being a brat.
Candace Blevins is a terrific author who knows how to get her message across and give the reader story with a bit of a bite, a little mystery, a lot of sex and a very sentimental HEA.
That one time, when a die-hard sadist meets a self-identified masochist , and the sparks they created surprised even themselves! And the mystery they had to solve, and careers that don't quite gel together, and the preconceived notions they carry about the way things are supposed to be, and a few more things, all add up to a completely engrossing and sexy story
This is a stand alone, and while set in a world already created and characters from previous books are in it, they are the flora and the fauna, around and in the story, but not the story. Nope, from the start, this is all about Bud and Nicole/Nickie
There is a lot a BDSM in this book, and while Nickie is used to traditional and club playing, Dominant is what Bud is, and a Sadist is who he is. He doesn't follow the rules, he just does what he does and is who he is. She thinks she is a little mouthy, he knows she is a brat. She thinks she is a masochist, he knows she is submissive to him. She knows she is a switch, and he has to figure out what he can do about that.
Their careers don't match, and that is huge. She writes books, about werewolves, he is one. He is the president of an MC Club that runs by it's own rules, she is an investigative reporter who exposes the things he does on a daily basis. She works with law enforcement, he takes specific measures to keep them out of his business
With so many things at odds with them, it doesn't stop the sparks, the attraction, and the way they really fit together and compliment each other. From their first meeting, and despite all their internal warning bells, they rely on each other. They work together and build trust with each other. And their smexy times are in complete sync and neither of them has any doubts about their compatibility in the bedroom, or wherever, they play
There is a lot that happens in the book, but as the base of it all is the Bud and Nickie, and them figuring out how to be together, and make things work. Even when they think there is no way, they always come back to each other to try and figure it out. Keeping it real and keeping on trying is what made their ending all the sweeter
I knew, after reading Angelica's story that her father also had a good story in him, particularly after the tragedy in his life. And yet, his strength in overcoming that tragedy, or at least learning how to deal with it, makes for a very interesting man/wolf as he finds himself falling in love again.
I have a particular reading affinity for supes pairing with humans. There is something about that discovery process that makes for interesting characters, both separately and together, and that enhances the world in which the reader submits themself. Nicole is human, but make no mistake: she is a woman with her own internal girl-power and the stuff to match Bud, point for point.
Both Nicole and Bud are strong characters, uncompromising in principle, friends and family. Those things could have made them an improbable pair, especially with the suspense and intrigue that is a major complication in Nicole's immediate sphere, and yet as always in Ms Blevin's stories, the hard work gets done and the pairing comes to hard-earned fruition.
This relationship, while part of the RTMC series, is almost an aside to the series in so far as Bud himself is not RTMC. The connections are there, of course, and it certainly opens up possibilities to expand the sphere of influence for "the good guys" in the pending conflict within the supernatural world. We shall see...or at least, read.
Meantime, Bud's is another strong relationship story with a deeper lifestyle component than many of the RTMC stories have. It's a good, strong character read and ultimately a feel-good chapter in the lives of the MC.
I love an MC romance, but generally don't read paranormal romance, and this was my first time reading anything written by Candace Blevins.
Bud is an intriguing, complex and enigmatic character. He's loving, loyal, passionate, persistent, confident, masculine, sexy, and incredibly arrogant and authoritative alpha. Bud is also an werewolf and a sadistic dominant in the bedroom.
Nickie is an investigative journalist, and author who is incredibly driven and seeks to correct injustice and wrongs she uncovers. She is idealistic and independent, and a switch and a masochist. Nickie came off as quite a judgmental character and I personally struggled to connect with her character.
This pair have an incredibly volatile relationship with quite a lot of conflict regarding miscommunication, trust and their differing ideologies and perceived notions of right and wrong.
This is a captivating, engaging and entertaining story featuring a variety of shape shifting animals and vampires, humans and members of the Rolling Thunder MC. The love scenes are incredibly hot and steamy and have elements of kink and BDSM.
I would recommend this title to anyone who enjoys a MC romance, romantic suspense or paranormal romance.
I look forward to reading more of Ms Blevins work in the future.
I really enjoyed this book which is volume 10 in this MC series with Shifters. I really love Paranormal Romances and this is one of them and it has other things I love, like BDSM and butt stuff and smutty scenes as well as Action and danger. So lots of fun stuff with a great HEA 😂
Oh, I do love this book! Bud has appeared as a relatively minor figure in other RTMC books, his main claim to fame being as Angelica’s father. Now he gets his own book, which changes the RTMC setting from Chattanooga to Atlanta where he is president of that chapter of the club. In this book, he comes into his own as a very strong character, and (as a warning to those who are made uncomfortable by this) much more heavily kinky, or sexually sadistic, than any other character in the RTMC series thus far. No complaints from me! Luckily, in the first chapter he meets Nickie, a woman whose needs mesh with his, and whose strong personality matches his as well! The only monkey wrench is that she is a switch and a masochist as opposed to a sub, and the complex way that these conflicts are eventually negotiated is illuminating, as well as satisfying. Also, just a lot of fun! The sex scenes in this book are wonderfully exciting, thoroughly inventive, and to many of us, very gratifying, but there is a lot more to Bud than just great sex. The book also addresses the dangers of international sex trafficking, particularly that of children. Of course, the bad guys get their comeuppance at the end, and the network is destroyed, but there is never any illusion that this will be more than a blip in the worldwide criminal trafficking trade. The battle scene where the enemies are defeated is as exciting as any battle in any of Candace’s other series, maybe (with all due respect to Kirsten!) even more so than some others. I’ve tried to write more about why this is, but I keep finding myself drifting into “spoiler” territory, which I can’t abide. As with all of Candace’s books, the individuals are very well developed and nuanced, and even characters who we know from previous books show new facets of themselves, just as friends in real life do, the longer you know them! I don’t generally read the paranormal genre, and have no interest in motorcycle heroes other than Candace’s. I know a lot of people might disagree, but I prefer her other series, particularly the Safeword series. That being said, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate for a minute before picking up an RTMC book.
When Bud and Nickie meet at a resort in Cancun, they know nothing about each other. But their instant affinity leads to them spending time together, and Bud coming to her rescue when he realizes Nickie is in mortal danger. A new security team, and Bud get her safely out of Mexico.
Back home she has to go into hiding until the human trafficking ring she had exposed, is finally eradicated. Bud and his wolf are sticking close to her during the whole time, and they get very close indeed. Nickie is a switch who can only submit to a truly dominant male, and Bud is just that. A long drawn out negotiation of terms to satisfy their respective needs, feels like forplay in itself. Bud turns out to be something like a DIY sadist. No frills, no fancy gadgets, just household items to deliver the most amount of delicious pain. Nickie is at first bratty, until she realizes that she can trust Bud to feed her bone deep need to submit.
During their time together they find out more about their lifestyles, Bud introduces Nickie to his RTMC family and they and the whole supernatural community gets involved in eliminating the threat to her life, and the rescue of the trafficking victims.
And Nickie finds out things about Buds business dealings that lead her to second guess their relationship. After Bud reveals his understanding about right and wrong, Nickie has to somehow rearrange her understanding of justice by law, and justice by the moral code of Bud, the RTMC, and the Supernaturals During all that time they both grow ever closer despite their differences. They understand and respect their needs and indulge in the most exquisite S/M bond.
Although the time frame of this story is relatively short, all the elements of the RTMC families, Drakes men, Abbott and his clan, and of course Nathan are involved in making this another sumptuos puzzle piece in the sweeping landscape of Ms Blevins Universe. I volontarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Buds story in this MC Paranormal series by Candace Blevins mixes brutal heat between two people and gentle relationship development, a true dichotomy between characters who would not normally mix with each other let alone build a romance out of danger. Bud was someone I was predispositioned not to like after his past showings in the previous books of this series, but I was surprised with his complexity and depth. Nikky was a struggle for me as she was just too many things and so very judgemental with hiding her rudeness behind questioning as an investigative journalist. I just couldn't warm to her. Hot and steamy bdsm scenes with heavy on the Sadist/Masochist side. The way Bud talks to Nikky is squirm inducing.
I love how it links in with the Chattanooga Supernaturals & Only Human series intertwining with the RTMC series, bringing with it the some of the heroes and villains we already know love or loath and those who follow Ms Blevins know so well. This book is not my favourite in the three different series but it builds another layer onto this fascinating world. I recommend this book to those who are already into the series but as a standalone might be difficult to get proper context.
I have been patiently, or maybe not so patiently, waiting for Bud's story since the Bash trilogy. I was not disappointed. The blend of action adventure and BDSM romance was perfect. I was really surprised that the author brought in so many supernatural elements for this book, but I was really happy with the result.
I liked Bud from the beginning, which says a lot for his character since he starts out smuggling weapons for a Mexican drug cartel. He holds firmly to his own set of morals, he takes care of his family, and does what he needs to protect them. His sadist side is totally hot in a don't try this at home kind of way. He is just an all around likeable character.
My feelings for Nickie varied through the book. Early on, I liked her. She was a woman capable of taking care of herself. She didn't wilt when the bad guys came after here, but at the same time was smart enough to ask for help. A few times through the story she came off as a bit too judgemental and a bit of an elitist. As she and Bud grew closer that side of her seemed to wane and she again became a likeable character.
I wasn't ready for Bud and Nickie's story to end. I'm hoping we get more from them in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
OMG !!!!! she killed me with this one ... Candace is my own personal hitman and this book is the ultimate !!!
Loved everything about this book - even though we meet Bud before and he put the fear of God in Bash and all the rest when it comes to his Angel ( still gives me a goofy grin on my face :) !) he is in for a surprise of a life :) starting over, unexpected!!!, and is falling for a woman he meets by accident. Nickie is an author/journalist getting into trouble, and she meets a wolf in shiny armor :-P , who pushes all her buttons and who turns her on like crazy. both of their jobs turn out to be deal breakers but when they are falling for each other its just a matter of fine tuning the details or like Candace calls it communication problems. This book was oh so familiar with all the characters I LOVE and want to read more (hint Candace!!!) but also new and it took me by surprise, hooked me good and kept me by chained till I finished it.
its great in twist and turns, the usual female stubbornest, and plenty of cavemen attitude and plenty of hot, steamy and kinky "rollin' in the hay" hihihih definitely a #MUSTread and a #reREAD in my case
Do you love stories with sexy M/C club members who always get what they want? Does the idea of shifters make you squirm in your seat? Well, hang on to your britches because this has both along with a myriad of other characters, which will have you simultaneously tapping those pages and cooling yourself off.
If you’re familiar with Candace Blevins’ RTMC universe, then enough said. If you aren’t, the stories are centered around a motorcycle club comprised of alpha males, most of whom are shifters. Most stories are standalone with either a HEA or a HFN. With the stories predominantly taking place in Chattanooga, this time, we’re treated to the Atlanta club and their president, Bud.
The story was an absolute page turner and I actually forced myself not to stay up all night reading and managed to savor it over three days because well, mmmmmm.
Loved it! Many thanks to the author for the ARC because thanks to all the teasing she did on social media, I could not wait for release day.
Bud is President of the Atlanta Chapter of the RTMC & Angelica's father. He's been single since his wife was killed by a drunk driver. Well, he does the sweetbutts but that isn't serious, you know?
Nickie is a romance novelist with many pen names for different genres. She's also an investigative journalist who does most of her own investigating. She gets into some pretty serious situations with very dangerous people. And she needs a vacation, so she's in Cancun, Mexico for a few weeks.
While checking into hotel she meets a very sexy man. But is she sure it's not a setup? The traffickers are after her. She has dinner with Bud & after make plans to meet at the pool. After changing into her swim suit & is walking back to pool she sees one of the bad guys so she hides. Makes her way to the pool & talks to security. Bud comes over to ask if she needs help. And that begins their journey. And it's quite a journey, turns out he's a sadist & she's a masochist. :-)
Bud never expected to meet someone while on a job. But Nickie is more than he knew and his wolf seems to be smitten. However protecting his brothers is second nature and Nickie's profession has brought danger to his door. Can he keep the woman who completes him and his club? Bud is tenth in Candace Blevin's Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club series. It can be read as a stand alone. I really really liked Bud. He is a sadist and makes no bones about it. His view of non-traditional uses for household is diabolical but in a good way. I enjoyed seeing him push Nickie's limits. He took her further than either of us thought was comfortable but we both enjoyed the process. I will admit that Nickie took some getting use to for me. I understood she had this moral compass but at times it just felt a bit too judgmental. I mean she is deciding to speed time with a biker, a one percenter at that and she wants to hold back the right to publish detrimental information...really? She knew Bud's dealings were maybe not so legal so why nose around? But once I looked beyond that I liked that she stood toe to toe with But. she needed what he had to offer and that took a strength I am sure not many people have. Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was well written and hot!
Candace Blevins always seems to grab me with such high intensity characters, Bud and Nickie are two people who meet up unexpectedly in Mexico where Nickie was vacationing, and feel the sparks fly, but will they do anything about it. Due to circumstances, Bud takes it upon himself to protect Nickie, there are bad guys wanting to harm her.
There is so much story behind their relationship, one big question they ask themselves is if they can make it work, being with each other. Don’t forget this is a paranormal story, so that adds another dimension to the storyline, she doesn’t believe in wolves and guess what, Bud is a big bad wolf. And not just an ordinary wolf, he’s the president of his MC and is very, very dominant and wowsers does Candace bring BDSM elements into their story, just scorching hot scenes.
This story is stand alone, and you will see other characters from the series pop-up which is so cool for us die-hard fans. Make sure you pick up this book, seriously great passion that flows through the pages, the way only Candace Blevins can!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Oh my we get Bud and he is well worth the wait. Wonderfully sadistic, incredibly hot and no holds barred alpha male meets middle age female who has her own unapologetic personality and strength we are lucky enough to read the coming together sizzle and sparks.
Again with all my reviews with this author we get females who know their strengths. They do not 'need' a male to save them. Instead we get conflict, passion and a great story line about coming together. Thankfully Candace is able to weave these characters in directions I can never predict.
This book is the 10th in the series and I need more. Never get tired of hearing about the characters in the club..
I am lucky I didn't spontaneously combust reading this story Bud's sadism rocked my world. The BDSM is realistic and well written. The bad guys took a unexpected twist but I love being surprised and this author NEVER disappoints.
I feel like I should have liked this one better. I've liked Bud from previous books, but this one really fell flat for me. I had a hard time buying into Bud and Nicole as a couple, hard time buying that Bud would be ok with Nicole being a sometimes investigative reporter. Sure they managed to work around things, but it still felt off. Another thing that was off to me was how much Bud enjoyed being a sadist. I feel like that is something that would have been mentioned in other books, so it seemed to come out of left field here.
I never really did warm up to Nicole. For as much as she was hiding in her life it seemed like Nicole was very judgmental, often jumping to decide before asking Bud for more info or just plain asking for him to tell her. I may have been able to get past this once or twice, but it happened time and time again.
By the end of this one I was glad to be done with it.
This one was one hot and sexy paranormal romance. Bud is sadist and a leader of RTMC. I remember him from previous books being more of an asshole but here he shows his other side. I really liked him. His no BS attitude about his beliefs but still open to negotiate with someone who loves is actually romantic. I am always surprised with these bikers, there is Always so much mora and depth in those characters. I always love to read and uncover more about them and what makes them tick. She is a switch and a writer with her own moral code. They click right away but she is bratty and is pushing his limits. She is rich and famous writer but sometimes annoying with her moral prejudice. I disliked her at moments and her judgmental and snobbish attitude towards prostitution.
Their scenes are hot, his sadism is perfect for her masochism. I loved their negotiating, his ideas and stamina, and was surprised with his wolf ability to share her. Great writing from Ms. Blevins, very character and relationship driven plot and an amazing read.
Nikki is a multi talented author who is an investigative journalist and a paranormal writer under several pseudonyms. On holiday after a story about human trafficking, she meets Bud in mexico. Thinking she was safe using a different name, the traffickers have found her. Bud helps her escape, and the attraction he feels for her increased when his sadistic side finds she is submissive, and more. A lot of story going on here, BDSM, FBI involvement in trafficking, being bait to catch them, the MC lifestyle, their businesses. Cameos with some of the club members. All worked in to the love story at the center. Ms. Blevins does not disappoint with the hot BDSM. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Every time I get to read a new Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club book, I end up ignoring real life to finish it! The author does a fantastic job of keeping the pace just right so that I am staying on the trail to the end.
I've been wondering how Bud's story would play out with his history as we know it from other books. I'm am quite pleased that the adroit way Ms Blevins has handled past issues in other books is just as much in evidence in this book. Little touches here and there of past stories and characters without over-explaining those stories make for a good read for someone new to the author but a fabulous read for someone familiar with the series.
If you like reading MC, BDSM, Shifter, and/or Paranormal romances, this book is truly a must-read!
My ratings for these books will always be either a 3.5 or 4. Reason being I love the characters and the storyline, but I just skim over the BDSM. Just cannot wrap my head around pain as pleasure.
Nicole is an investigative reporter running from the people she did a damaging article on. During a trip to Mexico to take care of club business he imposes himself into a situation of helping a damsel in distress. Only to find she could take care of herself and him in more ways than one. Sadist meet masochist. But there is a catch, Nicole is both a top and bottom. How can he handle her satisfying her need to top? Love will find a way. Yes, there is a story in the book, but you will have to read it to know it.
I really liked the story of Bud and Nickie, although I have to admit that Bud wasn't exactly a character I was waiting for a story for. Nevertheless, this one worked, as they always seem to do!
Nickie was a well-drawn character, complex and strong. So many switch stories seem to do an injustice to one of the switchy sides, but Nickie's submissive and dominant sides were both well-drawn and believable. And Bud, as the President of this chapter of the RTMC, needed to have a strong woman as his counterpart - Nickie delivered.
All told, this is another strong installment in the series - I'll be back for more!
A motorcycle club president who is a hardcore Sadist and a werewolf meets a human investigative journalist who describes herself as a Masochistic switch if there is someone who should make him turn and run away it is this woman but he and his wolf are intrigued and fearless enough to try. The sex scenes are a bit rough as you can imagine but if anyone can make you see inside the mindset of a hardcore sadist and like him it would be this author. The story reads like romantic suspense with an edge.
Whew! 🔥🔥 This is one hot book! Ms. Blevins really knows how to deliver a sizzling book packed with adventure and kinky sex!! Yummy. But her books also are intelligent. I've been looking forward to Bud's story and I wasn't disappointed. Nickie was a surprise. She's likable, strong, independent (although there were a few times I wanted to shake her). And Bud! 😋 I mean man, he's delicious, but even better, he wants an equal partner (at least outside the bedroom). So if you like MC, shifter, kinky sexy books- what are you waiting for?!? Seriously, one-click this 5-star book like I did!!
