Most people never get to live out their dreams. We’ve all got them, but life gets in the way and very few of us have the guts to execute them … especially the ones that seem “irrational.” But one New York Yankees fan acted on his desire and executed his dream by attending every single Yankees game — home and away — during the 2011 season. All 162. The cost was immense, the obstacles were numerous, and the desire to quit was constant. But Superfan Steve Melia endured — and made history in the process. Follow along as this comedian and entrepreneur relives hilarious exploits, heartbreaking disappointments, and exhilarating victories on his way to accomplishing what no one else ever has. This heartwarming and inspirational journey is sure to appeal not only to baseball fans but to anyone who has ever had a dream … and the courage to live it out.
I'd like to point out I am a die-hard Red Sox fan. Steve Melia (alas) is a die-hard Yankees fan. This does not separate us - it brings us together around an amazing sport. His book is a fabulous journey through every single game home and away the Yankees played in 2011. Worth reading and highly recommended.
We had seen Steve Melia at Dead Crow Comedy Club in Wilmington. In his last show he mentioned this book. I'm a huge Yankees fan so I bought a copy from him. It was a good story documenting what he went thru during the season. Most of us don't have the financial resources to make it work. Congrats to him.
Ever wanted to do something radical in thinking and unique, this book chronicles just that. Setting out to do something people said could not be done, then DOING IT! You don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this read
I, a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan, was given this book as a Christmas gift, and therefore handled it very carefully for a month or so. Among baseball fans, the New York Yankees are either loved or despised; no real fan of the game is neutral about the Bronx Bombers. Steve Melia falls in the "loved", even "devoted" category of Yankee fans. But as I read it I realized he was also a lover of the Great Game, a teller of wonderful stories, and a well-grounded and dedicated human being. This account of all that goes into attending 162 baseball games, home and away, plus another 14 post-season games. If you love baseball, no matter what team, you'll love this book.
