About the author

Anita Ganeri is a highly experienced author of children’s information books, specialising in religion, India/Asia, multiculturalism, geography, biography and natural history. She became a freelance writer after working at Walker Books (as foreign rights manager) and Usborne Publishing (as an editor). Since then, she has written over 300 titles, including the best-selling Horrible Geography series for Scholastic. The series won the Geographical Association Silver Award in 1999 and was cited as being ‘an innovation that all geographers will applaud’. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society where she conducts most of her research for the books.

سلام بر گودریدز دوست قدیمی من.
این آپدیتا رو بذارم برم.

بین دو فاز طولانی اسلامپم با این کتاب وقفه افتاد.
خیلی دوستش داشتم. تو بچگی دیوونه‌ی این کتابای علوم ترسناک و طبیعت ترسناک بودم و بااارها خوندمشون و هنوز بعضی از به‌یادموندنی‌ترین کتاب‌های عمرم هستن. چند سال پیش امتحان کردم یکیشون رو خوندم و اصلا در حد اون دوران جالب و به یاد موندنی نبود. ولی این یکی جالب بود. هرچند بازم به یاد موندنی نبود، موقع خوندنش خوش گذشت. البته شایدم مشکل از منه که مغزم داره آروم آروم آب میره و همه‌چی رو فراموش می‌کنم.

Rating and reviewing from the perspective of the intended audience (my 9 year old son), this was a smash hit. He loved the cheeky humor, the interesting facts, and the layout, which features chunks of texts broken up visually with cartoon graphic frames, call outs, etc.

He’s a picky reader, and I was thrilled this hit the sweet spot for him. For context, his favorite science books have been the Science Comics series, and his favorite fiction series is Dogman. This book wasn’t as graphic heavy as the other two, but had enough to help it feel familiar/approachable for him.

From what the parent perspective, the information was accurate, scientifically informed, and at times a bit repetitive in terms of its silliness. But that’s what my boy loved. This made a good before bed read aloud.

Ottimo testo per bambini curiosi. Per la metà è composto da disegni o fumetti, quindi invoglia alla lettura. Consigliato ai fan di Robinson Crusoe.
