As usual with Jason Brubaker's books, I finished this in like 2 days haha

Fantastic book, as I've come to expect from this series. I want to take a moment to start with just to mention how beautiful this book is from the outside. I know they say don't judge a book by it's cover, but with Jason Brubaker's books you absolutely can; the book is stunning on the outside with beautiful cover art and a cloth binding which just makes it a book you can be so proud to leave laying around your home.

Now, onto the inside of the book. I've come to have very high expectations for Jason Brubaker's books, and this definitely lives up to them. His artwork is always beautiful, in particular his use of lighting and painterly textures in the digital art.

The story in this series has a wonderful knack of slowly drawing you in, and then delivering something right at the end that leaves you going 'no wait, don't leave it there!' and making you long for the next book right away. I find myself unsure of the exact genre and tone of this series (it seems like things are darker than I initially expected), but for me personally this isn't a negative point, it's just that the story has gone in a different direction than the first book made me expect.

My absolute favourite thing about Jason Brubaker's books though, is his use of pacing and panelling. Now this is going to be some super nerdy stuff from someone who also creates comics, so feel free to skip it!

When I first got into Brubaker's work with reMIND Volume One, I had never seen anything like it before. His use of panels to create atmosphere and slow down or speed up the story was on a completely different level to any other comic creator I'd seen before. I'm not 100% sure how to explain what I mean, but I think any storyteller would find Brubaker's skill in this area very impressive. He seems to know exactly what shapes and sizes of panels, whether to use a close up or long shot, and exactly how to arrange these images on the pages, in order to best draw you into the story and keep you reading.

Yes, that was super nerdy, but his work is one of my biggest inspirations for my own comics, and it would have felt wrong not to mention that stuff!

So as always I would definitely recommend this book, and the rest of the series, and Brubaker's reMIND books as well. There's just something about his books that I can't really explain, but if you like slightly unusual stories with beautiful artwork, I think you'll enjoy these!

4/5 🌟

This third book explores Vonna's insatiable curiosity involving the weebles despite the advice shes constantly given, leading her to get dropped head first into matters that are best left alone. As a result, her Sitherah must come to her rescue.

It’s sad to see that Vonna has faith like a child but because she’s still young, she doesn’t understand her faith or what’s happening. Though in contrast, Dino seems to understand more, and for whatever reason he doesn’t have a Sitherah anymore. So he feels this longing.

Throughout their adventure, Vonna and Dino finally embark on a quest to uncover deeper truths for Vonna while also confronting Dino's past. Live that this not only enhances their understanding of themselves and each other but also sets the stage for growth and healing.

Jason Brubaker's art is so stunning I'll give just about anything he does a chance. Sithrah is getting much more engrossing as the world fills in and the characters develop more personality. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

This was my favorite part so far! Nirvana, Dino and the gang meet a sweet, awesome old couple named Henry and Phoebe. And the weebles are back! Farming adventures ensue. I can't believe I'm already halfway through this series; these are quick reads, but the story and artwork are glorious.
