FBI Agent Jade Monroe’s partner, J.T. Harper, has abruptly disappeared. The entire Serial Crimes Division hands off its current cases to concentrate on finding one of their own. They soon learn that J.T.’s sister, Julie, is also missing. Since she has no connection to the FBI, they fear she has been kidnapped and is being used as leverage in a twisted vendetta against J.T.
A video is delivered to the FBI with Julie as the unfortunate spokesperson, leading the team to believe that this mysterious kidnapper has more on his mind—and a deeper connection to J.T. Harper—than they could possibly know.
The mayhem worsens when J.T.’s former partner is murdered and dumped in front of the FBI headquarters as a sign of the kidnapper’s intentions. Now J.T.’s life is in the crosshairs, and as the days tick by, Julie’s life is in jeopardy too.

3 Stars. Just average for this series. Definitely not as good as Sutter usually gives us. There were a lot of dumb mistakes by everyone, good guys and bad. Hopefully she gets back to her solid writing in the next one.

The ending was over the top. I did not see it coming. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Awesome books. I recommend all your books for excellent reading. Every person who enjoys excellent mysteries should read all your books. No one can go wrong reading them all! I am looking forward to reading any of the books I have missed. Be aware that if you do not read all the books, it is your loss!

Excellent book!

I love this team! I guess I always say that.... but what a great group of good guys! Jade and JT are awesome. This story has some seriously cruel thugs and a, very 'determined to get revenge' leader. As bad guy plans go, it was a good one. And for a while these monsters seemed always a step ahead. I loved the thinking that Jade does to get to an arrest.
I read these out of order but am now finished. Great stuff!

C.M. Sutter writes a great story. The bad guys are usually really bad, and bad things happen to characters on the "good" side of the equation. Jade Monroe is smart, empathetic and hard working. This story involves the abduction of some FBI agents, and the sister of one,and the attempts to rescue them. It's fast moving, and involves a well crafted story that illuminates the criminals' minds and shows a well crafted investigation.

Excellent

This is the end of the line for now. I have read all 4 of the books in this series, as well as all of the prior set! I can see room for more in the future! I really hope it continues! I wonder if she would ever consider Jack of JT as more...or if Amber and Jack could become more...just wondering...

Most of your books are very interesting.

This however was not one of them. This FBI agent was stupid. Well not any more so than the one who claims to have special powers. She was captured so many times I got tired of reading about her. This one should not have been captured either. Can't you write about a smart FBI agent? Thanks

The thrills continue

Another thrilling story in the series of FBI agents tracking the kidnappers of two of their fellow agents. The criminals stay just ahead of the law and make for a real page turner.

This book moved away from the previous serial killer theme but still had a fair number of murders committed by the bad guys.

A fast moving story and even though I am a commuter reader (i.e. on the train) I found it hard to put this one down.

Excellent storyline

The busy action kept the characters and heroine very busy looking for the missing agents. A long investigation occurred for finding the agent with little or no evidence of who the criminals were.

I’ve enjoyed books 1-3, book 4 was even better. It wasn’t an easy read (subject matter) but I couldn’t put my kindle down. Very well written, great story line, a page turner. I’m already onto book 5.

Left me wanting

This story is not as good as the previous ones. For one thing the criminals were incredibly stupid. The whole thing seemed rushed and ridiculous. I had got to like the two agents so I may try another. But if it starts going like this i am out.

Awesome read,

Definitely had me on a nail biting trip reading this book. Agent Monroe faces a killer who won’t let go of the past as she struggles with her colleagues to put the puzzle together and find her partner who hangs by a thread to life.

It interesting to see how Jade Monroe worked thru little clues and still help solved the crime!!
The FBI needs to keep her with her partner JT !!
I’m always amazed how a small item can tell the agencies a life history from it!!
Very good read!!

Couldn't put it down.

I love the way the story unwound and it all was so believable. Crooks are crooks. They all make mistakes when their eyes are on the prize.
