My best friend’s a shapeshifter, and now we’re getting married. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

When my Grandmother June died, I couldn’t care less. That vicious old hag hated everything about me – from my blue hair and job as a tattoo artist, to the fact that I have no desire to give up my playgirl ways.

Now I learn she’s left me her home, Primrose House – a beautiful Victorian gothic mansion with a turret and a secret passage. The only problem? In order to officially take up residence at the house, I have to be married.

Enter Robbie, my gorgeous best friend and a wolf shifter without a home. We’re getting fake-married, and he’s moving into Primrose House with me to convince my parents that we’re for real.

Robbie gets a free place to live, I get to keep Primrose House – everything’s perfect.

Except … when we kissed at the alter of our fake-wedding, something happened. To say “sparks flew” would be the understatement of the century.

That kiss didn’t just spark, it set off an inferno.

I can’t stop thinking about Robbie. How come I’d never noticed how hot he was? – those soulful eyes, that scottish accent and hot shifter body ....

But he’s my best friend, and my fake-husband. If I mess this up, I’ll lose both Robbie and Primrose House.

I just have to control myself. I just have to resist to urge to repeat that kiss.

It can’t be that hard to avoid falling into bed with your best friend, right?

Right?

Book Review For: 'Inking the Wolf: A wolf shifter paranormal romance ' by Steffanie Holmes 'Inking the Wolf: A wolf shifter paranormal romance ' by Steffanie Holmes is book Three in the "Wolves of Crookshollow" series. This is the story of Bianca and Robbie. I haven't yet read the other books in this series, so for me this was a standalone book. Bianca grew up in Crookshollow but when she was sixteen she was kicked out of her home after being found with a girl and parting. Bianca is bisexual and her family in not excepting of it so she makes the best of it. But now her Grandmother, June Sinclair has died about six weeks ago and left her the Victorian House that Bianca has always thought would make a great Art House. But her Grandmothers lawyers point out that to accept or get the house Bianca has to be married. Robbie is her friend who she met about three months ago. Bianca and Robbie have some things in common with their family life and a few other things that have drawn them close. When Robbie suggest that they marry to fulfill the will that says Bianca has to marry a man to inherit the house. Bianca ends up agreeing and they move forward to do so. But we learn that Robbie knows that Bianca is his mate and that he is in love with her. But Bianca thinks of him as just a close friend but after their kiss she starting to see him in a different light. Exciting story. Just didn't like the heroine Bianca.
Sometimes you read a story with a heroine that you just wish would grow up or go away. Bianca is one of those. Selfish and prone to jumping to conclusions without asking for the other persons side.
There is no real excuse for her behaviour as they have been friends for ages so she should know Robbie well.
It takes nearly dying to realise what a shite she has been but the damage was done for me.
Robbie was such a sweetheart and I would love to take him away from these people and put him in another pack with a wonderful mate.

Good story of friendship growing into love. Although Robbie already had deep feelings for Bianca, Bianca was clueless. It seemed all their friends were aware but she remained in the dark. I think she knew but buried it because it didn't suit her her at the time. So yes, I am calling Bianca selfish. Robbie is the sweet, shy guy that you can't help but like. He does a lot for people and they just accept it They are kind of a mismatched pair. She is the rule breaker, unconventional, anti commitment etc. We can't forget that this is a paranormal story, filled with our shifter friends. I read the first book but not the second so some of the characters were new to me. It is still easy to catch up to. There is of course, magic and mystery and a great HEA

Nope. There was no saving that one.

Here is your typical trope of the sweet guy falling for the wrong girl. I liked the character of Robbie, he kind of reminded me of my little brother. If a spoiled, self centered, egotistical bitch like Bianca came after my brother I would beat her away with a golf club. She does not deserve someone so sweet given how she is.

I also feel like there were a lot of miss opportunities at the end. The author could have talked about Bianca redoing Robbie's ink or Robbie learning to read or gone more into detail about the reconciliation between Robbie and the pack (I definately got the impression he was not wanted and feel he deserved a proper apology from all of them).

This book is listed as a stand alone, however, it keeps refering back to characters not just from other books in the series but those who I assume are from another series based in the same town. Normally I find that interesting but now I just find it annoying. That being said, has anyone else noticed how the women tend to drop out after their book is done? The men come back as important chapters but the women just kind of pop in now and then without doing much if any significance.

Lastly, I don't know if I got a poor copy again (maybe I should be asking for my money back at this point) but did I seriously just read about how Robbie's teeth were clamped down on the femur in her arm?! I get that this is fiction but come on. Google, editing department, where are you guys?

🌶️ I’m on the fence here… when I read Caleb’s story in Writing the Wolf, I wanted so much for Robbie to get his own story and find love and redemption, and I wanted it to be with Bianca… but I wish he could have been treated better.

I get it that his father wanted his boys under his thumb, but that Robbie struggled to read and didn’t know mathematics? Big werewolf mafia king and drug dealer/thief/arms dealer daddy didn’t see his sons could read? Contracts, labels on boxes of contraband… street signs so you can read a dang map and get where you’re meeting someone to make the drop or pick something up would have been most helpful. And they have to be able to do at least basic math- nobody is asking for calculus level testing here.

But no, Robbie is really made out to be a complete idiot.

Of course we are told that several times in Caleb’s story, but to have that follow him to the Lowe pack is just cruel. We’re told he’s not artistic at all, yet he manages a sculpture by the end and is told he could make a good career at it? He’s able to fix up Bianca’s shoddy manor home into something amazing, yet can’t do basic math? You kind of need that to work out how much paint you need or if you are cutting boards and/or trim.

I understand how he feels like he’s useless and has nothing to give to this group of talented people Steff has filled Crookshollow with, but I had no idea this group of kind and caring people could be cold and dismissive to someone as truly kind as Robbie is. It made me really not like Alex and Anna here, seeing their dismissive attitudes.

And Bianca. Yeah, I knew she was bi but she’s so aggressively lesbian here and anti everything establishment. Her so-called artist “friends” she’s gathered over the years are about as shallow as they come, and I hated that Bianca was so aggressively into Willow, who couldn’t have been more straight and not interested. I don’t care how much she’s drunk or what drugs may or may not have been taken, for a gal who believes people should be allowed to be whatever they want, her whole “Willow is so innocent looking that I want to debauch her” attitude is just foul and makes Bianca nothing better than chauvinistic pig.

In fact, Bianca spent the majority of the book pissing me off. If Robbie hadn’t been so in love with the girl and tied to her through the fated mates link, and so nice it hurts, she could have easily found herself chucked into the dumpster with the rest of the trash. She immediately gets defensive with her friends when they point out how she shouldn’t marry Robbie because it will hurt him, but she is just selfish and doesn’t care. It’s shocking just how poorly she ends up treating Robbie, given she’s constantly reminding the reader that he’s her very best friend.

I just hope she can do him a kindness and help him seek laser removal of his crappy tats, since he doesn’t care for tattoos anyway. Seriously, Steff… couldn’t Robbie have just hated needles but, when forced to get tattooed to fit in with his father’s pack, couldn’t they have at least been decent ones? The poor guy already has so much weighing down his self worth but he also has to be ashamed about his body?

Still, even when no one believes in him, Robbie still steps up and volunteers for the hard tasks- researching the ring and doing all the handiwork on the house as well as laboring to haul off heavy old antiques and bring home/fix up the eclectic items Bianca wants. I love that Robbie is trying so hard to be a useful member of the pack. If he didn’t have something to offer I doubt that the Powers That Be would have bothered to send him a Fated Mate… especially given how rare they are supposed to be.

It’s Robbie himself who redeems this book, despite how much it breaks him along the way. Yes, I’ve given it three stars, because the mystery portion was quite good and I’m excited for more Irvine. If the series continues, I wouldn’t even mind Rolf finding a gal as well.

And Willow… I am so intrigued by Willow, so I’m happy that she and Irvine are the focus of the next book. Let’s hope there’s some happy Robbie moments on the sidelines. Oh, and be sure to catch the bonus scene in the freebie book “Cabinet of Curiosities” that you get when signing up for Steff’s newsletter. It’s really fun!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, this is the first book that i have read by this author and after reading this book I am now dying to read the rest of her work!

There are a lot of aspects of this book that I loved and that I believe in. For me a big theme of this story is that it doesn't matter who you find attractive, being straight, gay or bisexual, there is nothing wrong with being attracted to people of the same sex. The other aspect of this story that really meant something to me is that you should always to true to who you are, I loved how all the characters in this book felt they could be completely themselves no matter how unconventional it may seem to others. Both of these topics are things I have struggled with personally so I loved that this author wrote about them in such a wonderful way that people can relate even if they haven't been through the experiences themselves.

I loved Bianca! I love her inner strength and fire and the fact that no matter what she has remained who she is, she wasn't going to let anyone repress who she really is. Her character is definitely a role model for others who are struggling to be who they are! There is something so endearing about Robbie, you look at him and see one thing but when you really see inside him and realise everything he has been through you see a strength of character that shows he is a survivor. He is passionate and loyal to a fault as well as highly protective of those that he cares about!

This book means a lot to me and it will always be in my heart and mind and I can't wait to read more of this talented author's work, she is such an amazing writer to be able to convey the amount of emotion that this book evokes. People need to read this book!!!!

A three-star review on Wolves of Crookshollow 3 Inking the Wolf by Steffanie Holmes
Bianca has a dream that comes true when she inherited a Victorian Mansion that belonged to her grandmother.
Robbie is a werewolf who has had a difficult life with his pack, being controlled by his father. Now he belongs to another pack but still, he feels lonely and without a family to belong to.
It took me a while to read this book. Some chapters were quite good but others were a mess. The story has great potential but the execution was poor.
I didn’t like Bianca. She didn’t know what she wanted and she acted without thinking about the consequences. Another thing I didn’t like about Bianca was the destruction of the Mansion. It shows an outrage with the house as if it was the one to be blamed for all the things that happened to her.
I liked Robbie. He was sweet, caring, loyal and honest. He was a good friend, a good member of the pack and a good husband. However, there were some problems with his character. Being a werewolf and having a superior hearing then why did he need to listen behind closed doors? Why did he change into a wolf in a house with strange people inside?
The last chapters were quite good. They were quick to read and very interesting.
I think if the book would have been shorter and with a better development, I could have given it at least one more star.
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy given to me by Hidden Gems.

Holy freaking god what a book! This was one phenomenal
story, so well-written and thoroughly engaging. This is my
first read by Steffanie Holmes, but it will not be the last.
This is one hell of a series and I cannot wait to read more.
This is Bianca and Robbie's story. And it is one hell of a
book. Bianca has to marry and fast if she wants her aunt's
house and who better than her best friend. But he has a
secret well a few. Although the main one is he knows she is
his fatted mate. He just knows better than to tell her that. As
she has issues that stem from her parents that make her
afraid of comment. And then there is the ring they are looking
for. And someone is out to ruin things. So many things go
wrong just when Robbie thinks all is fine. And you will never
guess who it is. I was so shocked I did not see that one
coming.

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too

There is so much going on in this story that it is difficult to boil it down to a few clear sentences. Just let me say the shifter dynamic is well developed. The personalities of Robbie and Bianca are such contrasts. Robbie is a werewolf, large in build but so insecure, he seems shy, weak, not too bright. He longs to feel he is accepted in a family, protected and supported. On the other hand, Bianca is so strong willed and her beliefs are molded in stone. No love for her, no marriage and kids. She believes those things are just a trap to chain her into a life of restriction and misery. There is also a mystery of a powerful ring that the Alpha of Robbie's pack is desperately searching for. There are other outsiders with their own secrets and agendas that threaten and bring frustrating unrest and pain. It's a very complex but exciting tale of love conquering all. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.

This is the 3rd book of a series and I wish I would've read the first 2 books before I read this one. Don't get me wrong, this can be read as a standalone so please don't be discouraged. What I myself like is to read the full series just in case there is some confusion along the way with characters in the books that come after. However, I did not find that with this book but will go ahead and get the first 2 books anyway. Bianca is much different from the rest of her family and this causes a bit of stress between her and her family. She is happy having her own business and doing things her way. That is until she receives an inheritance with stipulations. She needs to find a fake husband and of course she going to ask Robbie. He has been secretly in love with her for a while now will this be a way for her to fall in love with him? This is a well written book, I thought the characters were likable and loved Bianca especially. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book

Bianca is a tattoo artist and as unconventional as they come. Robbie is a wolf shifter and Bianca's best friend who is also hopelessly in love with her. When Bianca needs a husband in order to claim the mansion left to her by her disapproving late grandmother, Robbie steps in. Is this his chance to win Bianca's heart or is he going to be friend zoned forever?

I love this little cast of characters in Crookshollow but I felt really bad for Robbie at the way they all treated him. Does no one in Crookshollow believe in giving someone the benefit of the doubt??? But seriously, I didn't read book two where Robbie's character was introduced into the series so maybe I would have better understood why they all had so little faith in him. I really liked Robbie, who is very sweet. Bianca is a character for sure. This is an interesting world Steffanie Holmes has created with a lot of great characters and stories. I enjoyed this book very much.

Inking the Wolf is book three of the Wolves of Crookshollow and can be read as a standalone but would be better following the other books since characters make repeat appearances in each of the books. Bianca is a free spirit, a wondering soul, whose alternative lifestyle is a source of contention within her wealthy, elite family. She's content running her own shop and living on her own with nothing to tie her down. But a surprise inheritance with stipulations threatens her promiscuous lifestyle. Needing a fake husband, Bianca's good friend Robbie volunteers to marry her while hiding that he's secretly in love with her. Love new and old brings untold complications to a fast-paced, heated story of friends to lovers and HEA. A good paranormal read with an unique female lead and an insecure but sweet wolf-shifter. My voluntary review is based upon a review copy.

Robbie, sweet Robbie, what a hero? Move over Mr. Darcy!

What a fantastic read, both literally and figuratively!! I read a lot and this is one of my favorite books of 2017! Robbie, sweet Robbie the wolf shifter, is one of the best heroes I've encountered in ages. Bianca, the heroine, drove me a bit crazy with her selfishness, but loyal Robbie won me over almost from his first appearance. Throw in some rivalries, rebellion against the parents, a scavenger hunt of sorts, and a wedding that sets off a chain of events with so many surprises!! And yes, there is plenty of steam woven into this truly delightful and well-written tale.

I received a complimentary advance review of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.

This is my first book by Steffanie Holmes I found it to be very intriguing. The subject was new to me but decided to give it a chance, Even though it was not what I usually read I found that the writing was very good. The author wrote characters with interesting personalities, strong and sometimes showing softer emotions that made them fun to read.
Bianca is someone who just likes to live life to the fullest and doesn't want to be traditional like her parents no marriage for her just a string of love them and no commitment.
Robbie believes Bianca is his fated mate and he has been interested in her from the first time they met. I recommend this book it was fun and very intriguing.

Fantastic series! This book begins with Bianca's deceased grandmother leaving Bianca her dream house but with the stipulation of getting married to a man. Bianca's best friend Robbie suggests they have a fake marriage, but what she doesn't realize is she's Robbies's fated mate.
Life of the pack heats up while they are searching for a ring that will hopefully unite clans together. Lots of action and betrayal ensues and a fantastic HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

When your entire life has been carefully planned are expectations are set unreasonably high, what do you do? If you are a strong independent spirit like the main character in this book, you do anything and everything to be exactly opposite of what's being forced upon you. This brilliant storyline does a intriguing job of illustrating this on top of showing us that everything isn’t always do black and white! Love this tale and am totally enamored by Bianca and Robbie! Looking forward to more tales from Crookshollow! This voluntary review is based against a Kindle Unlimited copy

I loved the idea of this book...Bianca has inherited her grandmother's old house as long as she's married. her best firiend, Robbie, who has had a crush on Bianca for as long as he's known her, steps up to help her out. Bianca thinks it's just as friends till she learns Robbie loves her. Great idea although I didn't like Bianca. She was wishy-washy...one minute she liked Robbie and then she was confused and didn't. It was hard to believe than in the end she fell in love with him...it never felt true.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Love shifter love !

I loved this story from beginning to the very end! To watch Robbie in his love for Bianca 😍. I was rooting for true love to prevail lol. Steffanie made you want to shake Bianca to make her see that she loved Robbie more than life itself! How better to get through to Bianca but as her best friend. Each twist and turn in the story had me flipping the page as fast as I could to find out the ending LMAO. I've never tried to read a book so fast before! Thanks for this book !

Bianca has sworn she will never get married. Her grandmother passed and leaves her property, but in order to inherit she has to get married. Her best friend, Robbie, suggests that they get married so Bianca can live her dream. Bianca and Robbie eventually realize how much stronger their love makes them. Wow, well written and complex characters, a fascinating plot with surprising twists, this is a must read. Fantastic book!

The adventure continues in Crookshollow where nothing is what it seems. Where else would you find a Human tattoo artist in a wolf pack? Bianca has a chance to have everything she's always wanted when her grandmother passes away, as long as she gets married. Now the fun starts. The character are well written with just enough details to keep you guessing. This is the third book in this series and I hope there is more.

I really wanted to like this story but it was difficult to finish. Bianca comes across so self absorbed and oblivious to anyone’s feelings or issues. She seems to always be drinking or hungover to the point she doesn’t even go to her own tattoo shop to work. While Robbie comes across as the most passive werewolf to ever exist. Overall I feel this story could have been left out of the series.

I have not read all the books in this series, but I had no problem following this story. This is the love story of Robbie and Bianca. Alike, but very different. One lived in the woods and had nothing and one lived in a mansion and had everything, but each grew up without the love that should go with having a family. They are best friends even though one is a wolf shifter and one is a human. They now belong to the same pack, but is that enough?

Bianca is a rebel. She runs the local tattoo shop and has been sort of adopted by the local wolf pack. She is not particular about the gender of her sexual partners, and that has made her persona non grata to her parents. She doesn't really care as she considers them to be cold and racist to boot. She much prefers her shifter friends and their mates, though she has many artist friends all over the world. Robbie is an outcast from his wolf pack, and he is glad of it. His father's only goal was for his sons to follow in his footsteps in the world of illegal drugs and weapons sales. He has never learned to read or write properly and tries to keep that a secret.

Bianca's grandmother has died and left her a large Victorian house that would be perfect for the artist retreat that Bianca has always dreamed of building. There is only one problem, to get the inheritance she must be married - to a man. There is only one man she could see herself marrying, her best friend Robbie. It would be a fake marriage, but they would have a home together and how hard could it be to be married to your best friend? Robbie has been in love with Bianca ever since he laid eyes on her. He knows she is anti-commitment and prefers women, but he also knows she is his fated mate. Maybe this fake marriage thing could work out in the end?

I had some problems with this book. I didn't like the way Robbie was treated by Bianca and the pack towards the end of the book. Either your family, such as it is, is on your side or it isn't. Quit going back and forth and believing every little thing you hear and immediately jumping to the "obvious" conclusion. Wasn't so obvious to me.

I would like to read some of the other books in the series when I get time. I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
