It got a few nice moments but I was rather bored. And the ending was weak.

It was just supposed to be a fling
Tabby is doing makeup on a film set when she meets Eli, a charming stuntman that she fancies even in a funny wig and wearing fake rotten teeth.
He fancies her back and they embarge on a passionate fling. It is only supposed to be temporary as they are going their separate ways after the filming and there will be an ocean between them. But sometimes you find a good thing you can't let go.
I liked both main characters and their friends Mick and Madeleine. Tabby had some family members who heaped excessive guilt on her with a trowel but she could hold her own, thankfully. Eli feels confined by a promise he'd made to a dying brother but would Charlie want him to lose the love of his life because of it?
Steam level: several sex scenes.
This was a Kindle freebie but not entirely random as it was an author I have enjoyed before.

Average read
This book is a pleasant read but average as romances go. At times it held my interest but sometimes I got bored with it.

Eli is a stunt man from the Lord of the Rings movies and he has a new role as the stand-in for the King of Atlantis. Tabby is the replacement makeup artist brought in at the last minute. The sparks fly between them, even though both swear they don’t do workplace romances.
Eli has struggled in the past with girfriends who want him to give up his stunt job.
Oh yeah… why DO people do that?
Tabby has given up her dreams for a guy who cheated on her, so she’s loath to do that again.
One of them offers sex without dating, but of course, it ends up getting complicated.
She’s in trouble…
Now THAT sounds like something a stunt guy would say.
Smooth, Eli, smooth.
And then they have to go back to their separate lives on opposite sides of the world.
***
Oooh another Kiwi author. I was really rooting for these two; they did seem so well matched. But I can’t believe her family issues disappeared in one conversation.
May we all have a stunt guy to punch douchbags that overstep.

Eli has struggled in the past with girfriends who want him to give up his stunt job.
“ Why do people think once they start dating you , they have the right to tell you what to do with your life ? ”
“ I have no idea , but it sucks . ”
“ Did she know what you did for a living before you got together ? ” (Kindle Locations 422-425).
Oh yeah… why DO people do that?

One of them offers sex without dating, but of course, it ends up getting complicated.
No — this wasn’t just sex . She may not want to admit it , but this was much more than a heated exchange of desire . As he slid his hands into her hair and kissed her , she knew Eli was making love to her — kindhearted , passionate Eli , generous with his affection and tender in his touch .
Uh - oh . (Kindle Locations 1157-1160).
She’s in trouble…
“ Hey , the trick is to do the stunts without getting hurt . Or damaging the set . The stuntman’s first law is that objects in motion will stay in motion until they hit the most expensive thing on the set you were told to keep away from . ” (Kindle Locations 1281-1284).
Now THAT sounds like something a stunt guy would say.
“ I’ll share a taxi with you , ” Eli said .
“ You don’t have to leave on my account . ”
“ No point in staying if you’re not here . ” Eli smiled . (Kindle Locations 2506-2509).
Smooth, Eli, smooth.

Wrong time...Right connection...
What happens when your life is all mapped out and it doesn't include a relationship... only to discover that the one you didn't know you wanted is right in front of you...??
This is the dilemma facing Tabby (Tabatha) and Eli. Tabby is the new make up artist on the latest movie blockbuster filming in New Zealand and she's using this one month stop-gap to gain a good reference before heading to the UK to go to the make up college she always wanted to but gave up for another man (her ex...). And Eli is a stuntman whose goal is to make it to Hollywood and honour the memory of his late brother. Neither of them have the time or yet headspace to desire or contemplate a relationship and yet spunky Tabby and hunky Eli hit it off straight away and sparks of lust and attraction start flying.
I just fell in love with the characters of Eli and Tabby. Eli has loads of energy and loves everything about being a stuntman. He's super hot, muscular and very sexy. And he's not looking to be in another relationship where his partner isn't impressed with his line of work.
Tabby is a funky chick who is determined to do things her way - even if that means defying her families wishes to come home. She absolutely loves body art and drawing on other people's skin or even her own. And most of all Tabby is scared of being in another relationship that where she feels she would have to change who she is.
This story is fantastic. It's heartfelt and sensual and sexy and shows just what happens when what is meant to only be a lust-filled fling starts to feel like something more.
You'll need to read for yourself to discover what Tabby and Eli do when they discover that they're not really sure they can leave this one other behind even though they don't fit into their plans. And trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This is a reprint of a book Serenity Woods wrote a couple of years ago about a romance between a make-up artist getting her first job on a movie being filmed in New Zealand, Tabby Rogers. She has vowed not to get involved with any guy since a bad romance a year ago and because she has plans to go to make-up school in London. Who knew that there were make-up schools?
But of course she meets the perfect guy in this interlude in NZ, an extremely hot stuntman, Eli Black, who also has vowed not to get into any serious romance since he has plans to move to Los Angeles to try to get caught on in Hollywood.
You know where this is going, but it was still lots of fun as the two have fun flirting with each other before getting even closer. And it was a fun behind-the-scenes look at being on a movie set. I didn’t know that stuntmen had to be certified in so many types of action.
The one question I had was that Eli supposedly had wanted to be a stuntman since he was a teenager and he had made a commitment to his brother to follow his dream. Then we’re told later that he was discovered working as a bouncer in a bar by a stuntman organizer who takes him on and trains him. If this was his lifetime dream, why wasn’t he doing more as a young man? That wasn’t clear. But it’s a small nit to pick and the book, otherwise, was fun.

This is such a lovely, passionate story. Tabatha Rogers is a make-up artist from America, who has been offered a job on a film set in New Zealand if she can match the work of the previous girl who was badly injured in a hit and run accident. On her first day on the set she is introduced to Eli Black, a top stunt man.
They both have plans for their lives after the film is over, Eli is planning to go to Hollywood to further his career, after promising his dying elder brother that he would. Tabby has won a scholarship to a top stage and film make-up school, in London. Neither of the are interested in meeting anyone because of their plans, and both have suffered bad break-ups. Yet they are instantly attracted to each other, and their resolve weakens. They become very close, but neither will bend and give up their plans and ambitions, so they know this is a short-term fling. There are a few trials and tribulations along the way, and it takes a major incident to make one of them realise that their ambitions can happen somewhere else.
Serenity Woods is so good at writing emotions, you laugh and cry and get angry alongside these lovely characters. A lovely story, with the aah! factor. Well worth reading.

Amazing!!
Eli and Tabby are both people of character, so distinct, yet great together.
Eli, a stuntman, ever active and full of energy, not interested in a relationship where his partner doesn't agree with his line of work. His ex was that partner, so a relationship isn't really on his mind, particularly because his dead brother Charles made him promise to pursue 'their' dream of working in L.A.
Tabby, a passionate make up artist, determined to make the best of her opportunities (a full scholarship to study in a prestigious make up school) regardless of her family demanding she comes home to care for her sick father. She has such big dreams that she can allow personal ties to hold her back, especially since her silly ex made her work away from her dreams, only to lose him.
What they want is right before their eyes, but they are both not in each others plan.
L.A. or London or New Zealand, home is always where the heart is.
How soon before they realize the possibilities of leaving love behind when pursuing life goals?
You'll have to read it to know for sure, if life, love and goals can journey together, or not?

Fun, sexy romance
Set halfway across the world from me, it's a unique pairing of a makeup artist and a stuntman. That allows for sensual scenes like this:
"She fanned her hands out across the width of his shoulders, stroked his collarbone, her fingers studying and probing, and he realized this was more than a fun experiment for her—she was cataloging his bones and muscles, planning in her mind’s eye where the patterns and colors she had to paint would lie. Did she do this with every subject she worked on? Trying to ignore the fact that he didn’t like the thought of her doing this to anyone else, he continued to watch as she ran her hands down his chest and traced his ribs, outlining the muscles to his shoulders. Her fingers were so light and gentle it made him want to twitch like a dog being scratched in the sweet spot behind the ear."
I enjoy the author's mix of sensual and silly, as shown above. Her characters go through much the same path as many other romance novels - meet, deny attraction, lots of sex, dramatic misunderstanding, HEA - yet the process of those steps is always an entertaining read.

This is a captivating and passionate story. Tabatha Rogers, an American make-up artist, receives an offer to work on a film set in New Zealand, provided she can match the skills of the previous artist, who was injured in a hit-and-run accident. On her first day, she meets Eli Black, a top stuntman.
Both Tabby and Eli have plans for their lives after filming wraps up. Eli aims to move to Hollywood to further his career, fulfilling a promise made to his dying elder brother. Meanwhile, Tabby has secured a scholarship to a prestigious stage and film make-up school in London. Neither of them is interested in pursuing a relationship because of their ambitions and past heartbreak. However, they feel an instant attraction, causing their resolve to waver.
As they grow closer, both are unwilling to abandon their dreams, recognising that their connection is likely to be short-lived. Throughout the story, they face various challenges, culminating in a significant incident that leads one of them to realise that their ambitions can
be achieved elsewhere.

Plot?
Interesting. It's supposed to be a fling but then our heroes develop feelings for each other... Problem is they are gonna be living on two different continents soon...
Didn't like that there were so many sex scenes in there. Repetitive.
Protagonists?
The hero acts like a neanderthal once. The heroine describes his acts as prehistoric but thinks it's cute. I don't think so. He is just violent. Not cool.
Other than that, they have chemistry.
The heroine screwed the whole book up for me, though... Giving up her dream for a guy? Again? At least, being prepared to do so? Yeah sorry girl but I am out. I don't care if he tells her that he will go with her or whatever but I am not fond of people who keep insisting that they will never do something ever again and after three weeks that's what they do. No

This is a beautifully written, passionate love story about two people not looking for a relationship, two people having plans to travel to different parts of the work, two people not ready for love but finding themselves in love. I understand this is a reprint of a book that Serenity Woods wrote a couple of years ago, I didn’t read the earlier edition but I do recommend this great Standalone from an author who sure knows how to write romance. I was drawn in by the storyline and I loved the characters, I was hooked from the first chapter, this author not only tells a great story she describes New Zealand so well, it makes me feel like I have visited the amazing places she uses in all of her books. Great read

Oh, what a great book! I loved it! Serenity's characters keep getting more lovable and she always has an interesting plot! I'll tell you right now that I am recommending this book and if you don't read it you will really be missing a good hot romance! Plus, you'll miss all the laughing -out loud!
The giggling, snickering and even the happy tears and a few sad ones. I caught myself laughing and crying - sad tears- at the same time! I just love Serenity's writing and characters and I could go on and on.! You'll love it!

This one would have automatically gotten 5 stars for the LOTR reference. Can I just say I want to marry an orc too if he has a personality like that?
But anyway.
I enjoyed Tabby and Eli and wish SO much they'd have been able to just sit down and talk rationally about certain things before jumping down each other's throats, but I suppose human nature will do that to you. In any event, however, that's my only qualm about the book and hence the minus one star.
Coupled with watching Dog Squad on TV, I now feel the itch to move to New Zealand!

Good book if you like lust and sex rather than romance. This book could more be labeled erotica than romance. Throughout the book, they're lusting after each other, figuring out where and when they can have sex, and thinking about how they're going to part ways after the film is finished.
And why is it, in books now days, the man quits his stuff to go and follow the woman?!? I get so tired of that. What about the woman loving the man so much, she follows him? And what happened to romance? Lust and sex are not romance! They're just lust and sex.

I liked the beginning, the set up was nice, the description of the movie set, the characters. But then quickly, everything was such a cliché. In particular, the mal character, Eli, is too perfect, perfect body, perfect at his job, perfect friend, etc.. There was quite a lot of sex scenes and but unfortunately, they were not very interesting. The author insisted a lot on the physical chemistry between the main protagonists, at the end I wasn't sure why they were supposed to be in love.

It was cute
I was hoping for more in depth behind the scenes of making a movie. I'm all about jargon and the ins and outs of industries. Especially industries that are glossed over by movies and TV shows.
But alas, it's the Hallmark version of being a stunt man and makeup artist. More focus was put on boring love scenes and New Zealand than on making a movie. New Zealand was the boring touristy bits. It was ho hum and I was hoping it'd be unexpectedly good.

Film Set Romance.
Tabby is a makeup artist from New York brought in part way through a movie to replace someone who was involved in an accident. On set she meets and falls for stuntman Eli. Both know that any romance can only be temporary as their careers will be on different continents in a few weeks time but that doesn’t stop them falling hard for each other. A heartwarming romance with a HEA.

I just about fell off my seat laughing when I read the first line. The rest of the book does not disappoint. A wonderful look inside the lives of two people working on a movie set. Romance where you find it, even when you insist that you don’t date anyone you work with. Sexy, sassy, silly and fun.

I loved how the H/h started out as friends, then slid into more...and more...and more. The conflict was such that I couldn't imagine how it would ever work out, but the author somehow managed it, and the H/h found their HEA. All in all a worthwhile read, and a clever title, too.

5 stars for this awesome story about loving someone enough to follow their dreams. Sometimes you have to give up on your own dream or compromise in order to have true love! I really loved Eli & Tabbie's story!

I love your work Serenity
I enjoyed this story very much. It was sweet, exciting on a movie set, fast paced, and sexy. Life doesn't always work out the way you plan and sometimes that's the best surprise of all.

I enjoyed this pleasant read featuring Eli, a very energetic, athletic alpha (but still sweet!) stuntman. He was a unique leading man that made the book fascinating to me. Serenity Woods is a very reliable author for well written and impeccably edited contemporary romance.

Starts out strong. A fabulous story where they both are kick ass and enjoying each other. Then in the end the both hold back and become kind of whiny. It does end on a rushed happy note but just didn’t love it.

Setting of New Zealand, and love make this a good story to read. When Holly says no more dating she meets stuntman Eli, on the set. His rule, don’t date anyone on the set. Rules when attracted needed to be broken.Fun book to read and enjoy

I liked this book. Great story and characters. Be warned there are explicit sex scenes. I think Serenity Woods is a really good writer.
