Vice President Courtney Browning is adored by the majority of all Americans and is heiress apparent to the White House, but someone wants her dead. When she holds a rally in Magnolia Parish early one morning in May, London Carter and his snipers team up with the Secret Service to assist them in providing over-watch protection for the event.
What begins as a routine rally turns into a bloodbath that leaves three people dead and a dozen others wounded. However, thanks to London’s quick thinking and decisive action, the body count is much lower than it could have been.
As London tries to avoid the ensuing publicity surrounding the national event and get back to his normal duties, he’s called upon to investigate a strange break-in at a residence in Seasville. There aren’t many clues to decipher, but as he digs deeper into the case, it begins to appear someone might be after the woman he loves.
Can he find and stop the forces that are moving against Dawn Luke, or will he end up with another hole in his heart that’s too big to fill?

I don’t know how it keeps getting better, but it does! BJ Bourg has yet to disappoint in The London Carter series. Reading “Elevation” was just like watching a movie. Bourg left me speechless several times throughout this book.
Bourg really knows his stuff. Being a veteran of law enforcement and having an incredible imagination he perfects novel writing in this genre. The element of surprise is there. Great dialogue, and character development are also present. He does a great job as an author painting the picture for you. You always feel like you are not too far from the action.
The plot was set up perfectly! Families are being held hostage. Someone wants the Vice President dead. Dawn is with her dad in the mountains pretty much off the grid. Miles and restrictions separate London and Dawn. With so many finely crafted plot twists in place this book doesn’t deserve to only be read once!
As always you will be in for some excitement. There is more sniping in this book than the past two or three. We still see gradual growth and development in the main characters. Bourg did an excellent job in molding London in this book. He illustrates how human our hero Mr. London Carter really is.
If you’ve made it this far, get ready to be on the edge of your seat and turning pages quickly. You must read this book. If you are just finding this book, and haven’t read books 1-4, get the box sets, and prepare to do some binge reading!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action, suspense, and mystery. If you are into all things law enforcement, this is your book!
Elevation is another very enjoyable, exciting London Carter novel. The plotting is intricate, as usual, maintaining tension at a high level throughout. This fifth book in the series seems more akin to the first three in focusing more on situation and execution rather than character development and motivation, although the depth of London's commitment to Dawn is plainly revealed.
Thankfully, I noticed none of the minor proofreading escapes found in Bullet Drop, the previous book in the series. The ending left me with the vague feeling that it had been just a bit rushed, wrapped up quickly and too neatly, although the identities of the final two antagonists turned out to be a clever and unexpected twist.
I'll be moving on to book six, Blood Rise, immediately.
This one is part police procedural, part political intrigue, and climaxes as a bona fide thriller. I was glued to each word from page one.
When London thwarts an assassination of the Vice President of the United States, he unknowingly sets off a plan to put his life—and his girlfriend’s life as well as her father’s—at risk. He needs to figure out who he can trust to help him, and the list is painfully short.
We’re meeting new people and getting better acquainted with regulars, which I really enjoy. Also, familiar faces return in this installment, further enriching the story and series.
Questions I had in earlier books get answers in this one in the form of a few twists at the end… twists that were quite satisfying and (I suspect) many may be surprised by. These reveals enhance the plot, especially the drama at the end.
I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to see what comes next.
Holy cow! I’m surprised I didn’t pass out...I was holding my breath for so long in so many parts of the book! Great story construct, lots of action, lots of tension! Some interesting moral questions. Red herrings not as big of a deal here because we mostly know who the bad guys are. However the surprises there are are well done. One bad guy was immediately suspect and I figured him out right away.
The climatic parts are pulse pounding and appropriately confusing. I was so upset and shocked with one development I was simultaneously cursing Bourg and impressed by his brilliance.
In order to fully appreciate this book you have to read the earlier books as several thing from earlier books play in here.
London is a sniper and he's a very good one too. He leads a team of snipers in the parish where he lives. He stopped an assassination attempt on the Vice President of the United States and now it may cost him the life of the woman he loves. With people watching every move he makes, he can't leave to go find her. How can he save her from death at the hands of the people who are holding her? Guess you just have to get the book and see for yourself if he can!! Excellent story and characters that are believable and interesting. Thanks again for another riveting story from the author. Hurry up and write another great book for us!
I love this author, this is the second series of his books I’ve read, I first read the Clint Wolf series and then I started the London Carter Series. These books are excellent, it’s hard to put them down, the stories are well written and his knowledge of what he writes about is amazing because he’s lived his life as a cop and swat team lead and his story is very intense and I hope he writes more books! I highly recommend this series!
Tension and more tension as you read this plot, right to the end, it never stopped. They were all experts as snipers. On a mission one was a rogue that began this nightmare. Choices, love was long time coming, the cost for having her in his life was high. He would give his life for her, but could he do what the killers wanted, to keep her alive. They wanted the mission to be done right this time, no interference, they wanted revenge. An awesome plot, as all his books are.
This was a very good story and could happen today with all these agendas floating around. I hated to see Patrick go...a great character and he seemed real. Dawn and London are closer than ever and marriage is just around the corner. I recommend this book and I enjoyed it a lot. Now for the next mystery.
I DO LOVE THE LONDON CARTER SERIES; IT KEEPS ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. I ASK WHY DO I PUT MYSELF THROUGH THIS? CAUSE ITS SCARY GOOD. LOL! I KNOW TROUBLE IS COMING ALL I CAN HOPE IS, PLEASE DON'T KILL SOMEONE I REALLY LIKE. I CAN'T READ FAST ENOUGH TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN. REMINDED ME OF THAT OLD 1993 MOVIE "CLIFFHANGER. LOTS OF OMG MOMENTS. ;D
Another excellent story by BJ Bourg. Being the fifth book in the series, I could foresee a problem lurking, but it was a wonderful thing. The suspense in this novel was well developed and riveting. I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
Wow that was intense and extremely exciting. I couldn’t put it down. I believe this was the best so far in the series. I have read all of the Wolf series and now I am on to Carter. Thank you
Politics really do make strange bedfellows, well in this book anyway. Very good thriller. Characters were easy to get into. A lot of twists and a very surprising ending! Kept my interest and me page turning! Great book!

Continues the story of London Carter. Not for the faint of heart, this book is the best of the ongoing series. Great book if you are into police special operations. Full of surprises with well developed characters.
Good book with lots of action and excellent detailing of the difficulties in being a good sniper. Involved plot with twist and turn issues to confuse the reader as well as the hero.
It's like the main character (London) devolved into a 17-year-old boy. He went from a strong, intelligent sniper to a lovestruck, sappy teenager. It's an informative and pretty good series, until this book.
Wow. This one was really good. Certainly one of the best of both series. Solid suspense and so many twists before finally revealing the culprit(s). One very unfortunate death that was sad.
B.J. Bourg excels, at describing how a sniper must stalk a subject. In this book London has to come to terms with how he feels about Dawn. Plus what the future will hold, if any? Again with the descriptions, your imagination can run riot. Can't wait to start the next book 'Blood Rise'. If anyone is into detective, thriller or sniper novels, i would recommend starting at the beginning with 'James 516'.
