In part one of the She was a Friend of Mine series, meet Scheyenne Henrietta Iverson, who grew up in East Palo Alto, California, where her mother kept the harsh realities of the world from her. At the age of twelve, the sheltered walls her mother worked so hard to construct come crumbling down when her family perishes in a mysterious fire on the same night her brother vanished without a trace. After several hard blows by life, Shi picks herself up time and time again. Years later, she unknowingly steps into a war zone of murder, lies, sex, drugs and money. Jasheem Wilson’s debut will have you guessing page after page and you will be wrong every time.

Highly recommended. This series did not leave you hanging to buy another book. Another book in this series would be great; because there are some loose ends to in book 5. Can't wait for book 6 and more. Thank you
I thought the series was pretty good and I was looking forward to the conclusion but there wasn't one . Plus there was too many new characters being introduced. I so wanted to know wanted Shi to have a happy ending.
So unreal from beginning to the end . I read the entire series in 5 days. I just couldn't put it down. I would defiantly recommend this series. Never read anything from this author before, I must say I'm not disappointed. Can't wait to read more. She have you feeling like your one of the characters!! Shi have a lot going on she deserves to be happy, and have true love. The only reason it didn't get a 5 was due to errors. Besides that I truly loved the story it was REAL, real life circumstances, people who do have mental illness and what triggers it! Grrrrrrrreat job
Shi’s gut wrenching story of surviving a family massacre, mental breakdown, rape and survival in the hood is a show stopper. She lost it all and still managed to hustle her way back to the top, with plans to avenge her brother’s death, even if that meant infiltrating the enemy’s territory and marrying her brother’s killer.
I bought the complete series & I feel incomplete... The 5th books' ending left me with a lot of unanswered questions seeing as though there wasn't any closure to any of the events going on. But overall they were awesome books.
This was a pretty good series. Sheyenne has been through a helluva lot. This is supposed to be a complete series; however, the way that it ended alludes to a part 6. There are too many unanswered questions and I need to know if 1) King and Shi will ever meet up again 2) What will happen if Shi and Vickie ever cross paths again 3) Exactly who is Sin? 4) Will Shi ever meet up with her Dad again? ....I could go on and on... .
The first two books are quite good but I found the three that followed extremely tedious. I continued in the hope of finding a decent finale BUT.....NO!!!!!
I sincerely doubt I would read another book by this author, the storyline in this five book instalment was pure confusion and finished with no significant ending.
There was no closure re: Shi the main character and her best friend Vicky. So terribly disappointing 😡😡😡😡
I loved the plot of the whole series but I'm guessing the reason for the cheap price is because this was the "edited, unedited", incomplete version. Not sure if I'm going to purchase book 5 to see how it really ended; because it ended with the editor's notes. Is there a book six?
Great book I will recommend this book as a great time passer
These books were awesome, I love these books so that I recommend them to a lot of people from here to Chicago. Everyone love them i just can't wait till the next one is done because has to the up all the loose ends. This is a good read and not that is hard to put down.
I really enjoyed the cast of characters, however, the last book opened up so many it got a little confusing trying to keep up. Would have loved to see what goes on with them all since Shi now has her father, yet losin another mother. As well as, getting King and Vicky back and let's not forget THE BABY.....Please bring Shiesty Shi BACK!!!
I rated it a three because it jumped around a lot and it gave too much description of the wrong things like what the inside of the house look like. I didnt like how it ended, not knowing if more was to come. I like Shi, she was vulnerable and feisty . I hope to read more.
I rated this series a 5 because the action in this book was intense! The author kept me engaged from the beginning to the end. The characters were colorful. I just wish the part with King and Vicky tied in a little better in the end. It's kind of like that storyline just dropped. Hopefully there will be at least one more book the tie up loose ends.
I was into the story up until the end, the ending was all over the place. After 5 books there is still a cliff hanger. I would like to see a happy ending for Shi; however, with all the confusion at the end, I am not in a hurry for the next installment.
This box that was really good have you on the end of the couch can't wait for the next set
Can't wait for the next set of the she was a friend of mine it's going to have you on the end of your seat just waiting and waiting to see what's going to happen next you will enjoy it
The series was long with no ending. You get to series 5 and then it says there is a 6 and 7. Shi's character got to the point it was just too unbelievable. Not to mention all the new characters that kept popping up as well as the characters you thought were dead, but wasn't.
The base story line, while intriguing, was hard to follow. Too many characters introduced haphazardly, with no clear connection. Also better editing need difficult to read with all the errors
I just didn’t like all of the questions left unanswered..... What happens with Shi, Sin, Vicky, and King? It ended and left you wondering, but overall, a great series!
Nice books full of intrigue but just too long... I kept reading because I wanted to see the end. Waouh poor Shi she went through a lot, but such a strong woman. I just hope she can be happy with king .
