Deputy Will Knight and reporter Merry Warren couldn’t be more different—she’s the queen of questions, he’s the king of no comment. The inquisitive beauty drives Will crazy with her feisty attitude and sassy mouth…the one with the full lips just made for kissing. Not that he’s noticed. Much. He’s too busy working an arson case that may be tied to something bigger, helping his brothers prepare for the opening of their new flight-seeing business, and spending what little free time he has flirting with an online mystery woman.
Merry has enough to deal with without the sexy distraction that is Deputy Knight. She’s currently working undercover on what might be the most important story of her career, avoiding an unwelcome half-brother who’s invaded her life in Jupiter Point, and, oh yeah—her new boss wants her to do a story on a local cold case—the unsolved murder of Will’s father. A painful event he and his brothers are reluctant to relive. And then there’s that online flirtation…
A bossy alpha male with a protective streak a mile wide, and a fiercely independent reporter with a talent for trouble. The sexual tension is three years in the making, and before Will knows it, he’s in hot pursuit of Merry…and they’re both headed straight to danger.

Some predictable elements but nice chemistry between the leads. Liking the family drama stuff in the background, both the mystery surrounding Will's father's death and situation with Merry's estranged father. Interested to see how it plays out in subsequent books.
OMG!Hot Pursuit is book 5 in the Jupiter Series from author Jennifer Bernard but it's the 1st book in the sub-series, Jupiter Point: The Knight Brothers. Fans of Jupiter Point are in for a fun, engaging, sexy read with Hot Pursuit. If you are new to the series you will NOT be lost with this story. You will want to read the Hot Shots of Jupiter Point but you won't feel as though you are missing part of the story. I loved the interactions between Will and Merry. I loved watching them acknowledge their feelings and find their way. The whole story-line was very believable and realistic. The characters stayed true to who we've come to know and were believable in their actions and struggles. The only problem with Hot Pursuit is it leaves you eager for the next story about the Knight Brothers! I want to see more from these guys.............who wouldn't when they are ex-military, smart, tough, alpha males? *sigh* now I must wait for the next release. In the meanwhile I'd recommend you pick up a copy of HOT PURSUIT today! You will be glad you did!!! Highly Recommended.
LOVED!!! Will and Merry have been snarking back and forth through the whole series and finally it explodes in hotness! Loved getting know more about Will and Merry and their backstories. The flirting app was a prefect plot point and really allowed us to get the snarky and quipy side of both of them. As usual, the dialogue was fast paced, the sexy time steamy, the emotions very real and uncontrived, and the dash of mystery/suspense was just right. Can't wait for those other Knight Brothers!
I've been watching Will and Merry for a few books now and was hoping they would get their story. Sometimes support characters stay in the support roll that authors put them in. But I'm beyond thrilled that Will and Merry did not. Jennifer Bernard does a fantastic job of exploring their love hate relationship. Will is the deputy sherif and Merry is the investigative reporter. Just their job descriptions are a recipe for the hate part of the equation. And Will does everything in his power to derail her stories enough to get his job done. And Merry despises that to the point where she has nick named him deputy Slo-Mo. Merry keeps asking the tough questions though which drives Will up a tree. He is determined to keep to his no comment point of public view. A big part of their frustration with each other is the attraction they share but have to deny. So when they finally let some of their guard down, holy Hannah, does it get HOT in here! Will's slo-mo technique in stalling Merry professionally turns into an erotic thrill ride personally. And boy, does she enjoy the ride! I loved Merry and her never stop attitude that has propelled her through all the books. She is involved in all of the goings on in Jupiter Point and she has some fantastic advice for her friends. It's too bad she so doesn't believe in love for herself. Her mother has done a wonderful job of raising her and sacrificing so that Merry had a better life. Merry's father on the other hand, sent them off with money and the promise that he'd never be around. She was disowned and discarded before she was even born. Her half brother comes to Jupiter Point to get to know her. She pushes him away just as their father did to her. But Chase won't be chased away easily. I loved Will just as much. He is the oldest of five but was thrust into guardianship of his youngest brother after the murder of his father. His mother couldn't deal with it and left with his sister to disappear. He has given up his dream of being a lawyer to become one of if not the best of the law enforcement department. Just so he could be home to raise his brother. Now his two other brother's are coming back to start their own business. I loved them as a couple. They are supportive of each other, but give each other the space that is needed to do their jobs. They have to learn to trust in each other. Merry feels she doesn't need a man to support her or take care of her. Will just wants Merry to be protected and taken care of. He has to learn how much protection she needs. Merry has to learn to accept his love and protection. Will has to trust Merry with his past. The murder of is father is a subject none of the brothers want to speak about. She is given the assignment to write about the case but doesn't want to hurt Will or the brothers. I'm also excited to see the other brothers will be getting their own stories. They all seem to be shaped by what has happened to their father in different ways.
Merry Warren has been a favourite character of mine since she first appeared in Jupiter Point, and I had been dying for her story ever since. Is it as good as I hoped? As I expected? No, it’s ten times better!
Reporter Merry Warren and Deputy Will Knight have been at odds since their paths crossed, which is unavoidable because of their respective occupations. The attraction has always been there, but the do get on each other’s nerves: conflicting interests; she’s messy, he’s a neat-freak; he’s cool, calm and collected – Deputy Slo-Mo, in Merry’s words – she’s forever rushing and multitasking. They don’t hate each other, quite the contrary, they respect each other. There are quite a few cases/stories that need looking into: there’s been an arsonist on the loose for the past six months; there’s a drug investigation, which might or might not have to do with the arsons; and there’s also the cold case of the murder of Will’s father. Can Merry sit on a story and let Will do his job?
This review might be a bit disjointed, but I don’t want to edit too much because I want my excitement to come through as I felt it reading HOT PURSUIT. Merry is thunder and lightning, Will is solid rock and the oak tree that doesn’t bend under the fiercest storm; Merry is a huge character, and yet Will was never thwarted by her exuberance and strong will. Right from the prologue, HOT PURSUIT is spellbinding. Jennifer Bernard is an exceptional writer, and with every book she writes, she impresses me more. The dialogues in HOT PURSUIT are spectacular: whether between the Knight brothers, the female friends, or Merry and Will; I could hear Merry talk 100 miles per hour, I could almost feel her vibrating from the energy that emanates from her. Ms. Bernard’s prose is wonderful, as usual, clean and crisp, flawless, and every little detail shines as it should.
Merry and Will, unbeknownst to each other, carry on a somewhat flirtatious online friendship with anonymous chatters. We all know that the mystery man and woman are Merry and Will, but what would happen when they met? Fabulous! Not at all what I thought! The romance is simply perfect, in tune with the characters’ personalities, and the investigation part is heart-stopping. A couple of new characters were introduced; one I really liked doesn’t look like a sure thing, and I hope some sort of redemption could salvage this fun person. Another one surely is a keeper, one does not throw away such an adorable character! And no, I am not saying, but it is awesome!
I was expecting something “big” from Jennifer Bernard, and HOT PURSUIT is monumental!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I loved this book so much I literally couldn't put it down! I always enjoy the actual story within the romance in Jennifer Bernard's books, but something about this one really drew me in and kept me glued to my Kindle until the end. Both of the main characters are so relatable and likable which makes the story that much better. The secondary characters are also all like that which is so great. First of all our hero, Will Knight aka Deputy Slo-Mo, is a gorgeous, alpha, protective Deputy Sheriff. What many people don't know is that he has a very sweet and gentle side underneath his gruff often stoic exterior. Everything he has been through in his life and the responsibility he had to take on makes him that much more likable, respectable and admirable. Merry Warren, our heroine, is a total, I-don't-need-a-man-and-can-take-care-of-myself-kind-of-girl. However underneath that tough shell is a sweet and vulnerable woman. She is just awesome. She is a reporter for the local paper and I just really like her. Both of them have some deep family issues that have shaped and continue to shape their behavior. I am happy we are resolution and healing from both within the time frame of this story. Because of their professional interactions, they have known each other and been giving each other a hard time for the last few years. It actually appears that it was maybe kind of foreplay for them. They find out in a very fun and unique way that they are actually very compatible and should give it a go. Sparks fly when they give into the chemistry they both feel and that leads to some sexy hot and steamy moments between them. They also make such a great team out of the bedroom which we see when they work together on an investigation. This whole series is so great and I highly recommend reading all of the books, but you don't have to in order to enjoy it this one! 5 Flirty Stars!!
Jennifer Bernard has followed up on her Jupiter Point Hot Shots with another group of hot, sexy alpha males, the Knights. Will Knight is left in charge as the oldest of the family after his father was murdered. His mother freaked out & took off taking Cassie, his sister, with her. This left Will to make sure eight year old Aiden went to school & survived. Will quit college, moved home, & became a deputy sheriff. He's been surviving but he didn't feel alive until Merry Warren came into town. Nobody can get under his skin like she can.
Merry Warren has always felt she didn't belong. Her neighborhood thought she was too high brow. Her private school thought she was too ghetto. Obviously her father didn't think of her at all since he threw money at her mother & never looked back. After all this, is it any wonder she keeps people at arms length. So why does Will Knight get to her? He's the most aggravating man she knows!
One thing I really like about Jennifer Bernard's stories is that the women are just as strong & successful as the men. The character of Merry is a great investigative reporter & fights to be taken seriously & given her due. Will Knight accepts that & actually admires her for it even as he struggles with trying to protect her. This plot moves fairly quickly & takes some interesting twists & unexpected turns. It keeps you involved & reading from start to finish. In this one book, Ms. Bernard establishes an emotional connection between the readers & not only Will & Merry, but the entire Knight family. The interactions between Will & Merry are hot & the chemistry is clicking but the interactions between Will & his brothers draw you in & make you want to learn more about them all. The fact that Will is finally going to look into their father's murder has the reader looking forward to the next book with even more anticipation. I love this story!!
I fell in love with Jupiter Point and all the beloved community members from the very beginning. Although Hot Pursuit is the fifth book in the series, and all the books are standalones, I encourage you to read them all. You will fall in love with each and every character Ms. Bernard brings to life. I was excited to read Will and Merry’s story. You could feel their chemistry and the sparks they set off in their interactions in the previous books. You just knew there was more to their story than the typical officer/reporter distain. In Hot Pursuit we find out exactly what that more is and that it’s not one-sided.
I enjoyed getting an in-depth background for Merry and Will. It made them more relatable and personable. We were able to see what and how their pasts lead them to who they are today. I loved the way they didn’t back down from each other, they each gave as good as they got. They are both strong, independent people, but were able to see how well they complimented each other, what they brought out in each other, how they respected and loved each other. I especially loved the hidden side they both had, the side they didn’t share with many people. The one they reserved for each other, the softer, more vulnerable side.
In Hot Pursuit we not only get a sexy romance, but there is action and some twists and turn that keep you engaged and excited for what is next to come. And now, not only do we have the hotshots in Jupiter Point, but the Knight brothers are back. With Will looking into his father’s murder and the single, sexy brothers in town with stories of their own that need to be told, we the readers know we have some exciting and sexy stories in store for us in the future, and I for one cannot wait!
It is appropriate that I got to read the latest Jupiter Point novel, Hot Pursuit, by Jennifer Bernard this week. While everyone was gazing towards the sky for the eclipse, I was visiting my favorite stargazing destination. Deputy Will Knight and reporter Merry Warren have been sparing since the start of the series. Though their jobs made them logical adversaries, in reality they were trying to hide their attraction to each other. A case of mistaken identity and anonymous flirting allows them to see each other’s hidden depths, which changes their relationship for the better. We also get to learn much more about Will’s family as his brothers come home to reopen the old airstrip. I always love it best when the characters have to work together to solve a problem. This book has that in spades. Will and Merry make a good team in all aspects of their lives. There are also new questions that I hope will be answered as the next books move forward.
Loved this book!! I was so excited to have Will and Merry's story. Will Knight is the town deputy of Jupiter Point and Merry is a reporter of the local newspaper. They are pure opposites, but they can't deny the chemistry between them. It took three years to finally respond to their chemistry but it was well worth the wait. Will has been busy raising his younger brothers after his father was murdered and his om left town and has only had casual relationships. Merry is always the inquisitive type, always asking questions.
With the romance, suspense of drug trafficking and the mystery of Will's dad's death makes for the perfect read. It was great to see previous characters of Jupiter Point. I can't wait to read more of the Knight brothers!!
So now I have book hangover, could not put it down. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
Loved, loved, loved!! Will and Merry simply made me happy. They are fantastic characters and I loved seeing them together. He's the stoic and serious type which works well for his job as a deputy. She's inquisitive to the point of nosy which also works well for her job as a reporter. They shouldn't work together but they definitely do. Their story is fun, sexy, and just about perfect. I sure hope we get stories for the rest of the Knight brothers!
Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.
I loved being back in Jupiter point, it was refreshing to see the cast of characters keep growing and not just be the hot shots. I loved reading the bickering between will and merry in the previous stories. I was so excited when they got their own story. the dynamic of these two was spot on. will and merry will keep on your toes in quick wits and grounded in love. I loved learning what made these two tick. I preordered this book, but I also volunteered to give my honest review for a book I received.
I loved this new Jupiter Point book. Jennifer Bernard writes charming characters that I want as my friends and a town where I wish I'd grown up. Cops and reporters may seem like natural born rivals, but two people can overcome anything when real feelings get involved. The tension between Merry and Will has been building over several books and now they're finally getting a chance to figure out where the uncertainty can lead them. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review
Hot Knights! I want my own Will! He is one hot Knight. He and Merry play so well together. Their story was so much better than I anticipated. It actually gave me wonderful little shivers. The introduction to his brothers was marvelous. They each sound so different and interesting. Can't wait for each of their stories. Thanks Jenny for anther winner. Keep 'em coming!
"Maybe 'love life' wasn't the right term. It was more like-Hot Pursuit."
Oh my gee!!!
I have been waiting for Merry and Will's story since the beginning of this series! Their love/hate relationship had me loving them from the start. You couldn't help but want them to finally just admit their feelings for each other.
But what's a good love story without some build-up? ;)
Merry is such a strong female character! She knows what she wants in life, so she goes for it. She's not afraid of anything...except to admit her attraction to the town deputy that grates under her spine while twisting her stomach in knots.
Will has a past full of pain, but that doesn't stop him from always being there for everyone around him. Even when things get rough, he's there to lend a hand. Too bad his mind hThis as his hands going somewhere else...If you catch the drift I'm sending you;)
"You and me. There's something here, something special and real and I know you feel it too. Tell me you don't." "I feel it. You know I do."
This book was everything I had hoped it would be, and more!! I knew Jennifer would right Will and Merry's story in a way that had us all screaming, "Just do it already!!!!"
And can I talk about that first kiss?!?! HOLY COW!! That had to be one of the best first kisses I have EVER read!! Whew! Will Knight is just *praise hands*!
"You're pretty cute, aren't you?" "I prefer 'devastatingly handsome' if you don't mind."
This story had hot moments, dreamy sighs, suspense, drama, sexy time, family bonding, self-discovery, and above all heart and soul.
I loved getting to finally meet those Knight brothers! I can't wait to get to know them better in their own stories! There's also another character that needs his own book, but I won't spoil that...hehe.
Another terrific book from Jennifer Bernard!!!
"I'm all about standing on my own two feet." "How's a guy supposed to sweep you off your feet then?" "That's not on the agenda, remember?" "Agenda's change."
When I read one of Jennifer’s books I take notes on her smart themes and writing. So, I actually take notes – otherwise I just get carried away reading of the story. The first thing I noted was her use of current social issues as a backdrop for the story. Here she uses opioid addiction.
The most fun thing about the book, well the second most fun thing, is the banter between the reluctant couple is smart and snarky with fewer and fewer barbs as these two realize they are more attracted than repulsed. I noticed a couple of pages with smart, tart and delicious banter. The most fun is what the banter leads to! Some of the banter is anonymous – courtesy of the interwebz – but that helps the couple really build their relationship outside the professional milieu that puts them at odds. It’s an interesting, oppositional dynamic, but even before they become a couple, when push comes to shove they don’t let their differences interfere..
The heroine, Merry, is of mixed race and Jennifer brings racial issues into play as well. Merry, reflecting she has disliked having to represent realizes that another character is not just a representative of his profession. Family dynamics also play out in a very real way, although in a somewhat unrealistic circumstance.
With several steamy series and an erotica pseudonym (Juniper Bell) Jennifer writes awesome, but not inappropriate, love scenes. I like the maturity of the characters; as they fall in love they do not mistake lust for love. It lends a positive bent to their relationship – empowering their sexuality without gunking it all up.
I felt Jenn could have written the criminal activity more strongly, more definitively. It is a little too light and did not feel very realistic.
With the hotness, the snark and the well-written social issues this book was not only hot – it was interesting and salient.
Will Knight, aka Deputy Slo-Mo, is the oldest of the four Knight brothers. Having to drop out of law school, Will comes home to raise his younger brother when their father was murdered. Their mother can't handle the stress of the murder, so she takes their sister and leaves the boys alone to fend for themselves. Will encouraged his brothers to pursue their dreams while he stayed home with Aiden. Fast forward several years, Aiden now attends college and the other Knight brothers have joined forces to start a site seeing, flight service. Since Will is the Deputy Sheriff of Jupiter Point, he is mostly a silent partner in the business.
Merry Warren was always encouraged to be a strong, independent, and hard working woman. Merry is a sassy reporter who seems to get herself into trouble while investigating stories for the newspaper. She also butts heads with Will, crawling under his skin. But irritation soon turns into attraction. Under pressure from her new boss to print "big" stories, Merry is taken off her current story to write an article on the only cold case in Jupiter Point's history--the Knight murder. Merry is torn as she wants to keep her job and make her boss happy, but she doesn't want to hurt Will.
I loved this novel!!! The real life issues of interracial romance, online dating, drugs, murder, half-siblings, etc were very relatable. I enjoyed the witty banter between Will and Merry, while tearing up over the Knight brother's loss. A truly enjoyable story. I can't wait to read about the other Knight brothers. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
What could a deputy sheriff and a reporter have in common? For Will and Merry more than you would think. But will they be able to realize it before they lose out on what fate is throwing. Will has been through so very much. He is now living his life or at least trying to live his life. He really isn't ready to get involved with anyone. But bonding with someone through an online app has showed him that maybe there is more to life. But what he doesn't realize is that the person on the app is the one person that he just can't seem to believe is right for him. Merry is a great reporter. She is stubborn and will do whatever it takes to get the story. She is good at her job and just wants to succeed. But there is one story that is getting to her. Trying to find out what and who regarding the story has her even more in the path of deputy sheriff Will. Merry cannot believe that he can be a nice person. Merry is talking to someone on the dating app and is really starting to believe there might be someone out there for her. Will she agree to meet the guy? What will happen once they do meet and realize they have been in each other's life for some time? Danger, risking of lives and love await these two as they come to terms with what fate is throwing their way? But will it be enough in the end? This is the first book that I had read from this writer, and I absolutely loved it. Suspense, risk, and romance all rolled into a great storyline. Will and Merry are an amazing couple who see past the differences and find happiness. A very enjoyable read.
I will get this out there right up front: I loved this book! Hot Pursuit means another trip to Jupiter Point. This time, however, it is not about the Hotshots – Jennifer Bernard has new stories about the Knight Brothers! This first story is about Will Knight and Merry Warren. Will is a deputy sheriff in Jupiter Point and Merry is a reporter. These two crack me up. I love the slyly snarky sense of humor that Will has and Merry is so vulnerable, under that porcupine sweater she sometimes wears. Between the two of them, they have crazy backstories and both struggle coming to terms with making their present count.
Although they have known one another for over three years, their story really starts with a ‘meet-cute’ of sorts that will make you laugh. I adore Will’s character and how he has done so much for his family. And watching him transfer some of that love to Merry? I didn’t want to put the story down, once I had started it. Love Will. Did I mention that? And Merry struggles with coming to terms with her own past and family. No details as you need to read it for yourself.
Really looking forward to more Knight Brother stories as they, too, seem like characters. Will’s and Merry’s families really do come across as important characters in Hot Pursuit and that was special to me. Can’t wait to read more about the Knight Brothers and visit with some of the folks from Jupiter Point once again.
In the latest installment of the Jupiter Point series we follow the story of Merry and Will. If you are thinking you don't remember a hot shot named Will no worries. Will is Jupiter Points most eligible deputy. And who can forget about Merry....the talented writer for the Mercury Gazette? There is nothing wrong with this crossover into the other community service sector of Jupiter point. Especially when it involves sexy and fit Will. From the moment you turn the first page you won't want to put this book down.
Both Merry and Will have things in their past that they don't want to share with anyone let alone one another. Merry is way too independent and doesn't think she needs anyone to take care of her. She has been on her own for way to long. Will is just as independent but has spent his life putting his goals and feelings on the back burner. And realistically, can a member of the sheriffs department ever be friends let alone trust a reporter? Will true love win out in the end or is this pursuit a wild goose chase?
Jennifer Bernard is a rare gem with a knack for getting you hooked right from the beginning of each of her books. Her writing skills are one of a kind and it shows when you read her books. New to this series you might want go and read these books in order. A complete listing of this series as well as the Bachelor firemen and Love Between the Bases can be found on JenniferBernard.net.
I have very mixed feelings about this book that have left me really puzzled and confused. It is certainly entertaining and I liked the inclusion of previous characters from other books and the introduction of the family members of Jupiter Point deputy Will Knight. I loved the first four books in the series because they were dramatic stories featuring hot shot firefighters who risked injury and/or death every time they were required to battle a wildfire that burned out of control. Of course there were lighthearted and comical moments too but they enhanced the story without detracting from the seriousness of the subject matter. This book has a very dramatic storyline as well but the ridiculously juvenile conversations between Merry and Will really turned me off. In past books both characters were highly successful and very well spoken but in this book I thought they were really annoying. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot and that really ruined the story for me. I'm sure this is a matter of personal taste because I really enjoy this author's writing but for me the way these characters were portrayed was a real disappointment. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
What do you get when you put a strong, smart, beautiful journalist together with a smart, dedicated, handsome sheriff's deputy? Sparks, of course! Will Knight and Merry Warren butt heads, more often than not. Each has felt the attraction, but they definitely don't feel the other is their type. Will is knee-deep in an investigation and asks Merry to hold off on pursuing it, but to her, that doesn't mean she isn't going to investigate, which means that Will has to keep a closer eye on Merry. With all that is going on, it's a good thing there isn't time for more than an online flirtation with the perfect guy/girl... Both these characters have baggage in their past, but have put the past behind them to be strong and successful people. I love how they danced around each other, denying what is basically obvious to everyone else. Toss in a bunch of good friends, Will's brothers, an unexpected family member, and a case full of danger that the two are determined to crack, they have their hands full. Jennifer Bernard writes such fun stories with well-developed and strong characters. Don't miss this one! It's part of a series, but can easily stand alone. Visit Jupiter Point once, and you will never want to leave! **I received an advanced copy that I voluntarily read and reviewed.
This was a slow read, almost boring, interracial romance that took me too long to read. It's the love story of Will and Merry.
Will is one of the Knight brothers of Jupiter Point who suffered a family tragedy. Not much was known about the Knight family before the tragedy. Will had dropped out of law school to raise his younger brother. Ten years later he worked for the sheriff's office, and there were still too many unanswered questions.
Merry had been in Jupiter Point for about three years and, was a reporter at the local newspaper. Her backstory was very thin. Her father was wealthy man who didn't really acknowledge her other than giving her money for her education. Her mother was a Brazilian who traveled for her job. Nothing tells how she ended up in Jupiter Point or why.
Will and Merry were often adversaries because if their jobs. Their love story was a very slow burn. The plot and subplots weren't very well developed. Hot Pursuit was part of a series and presented as a stand-alone. However, you were left with so many unanswered questions, it was like a cliffhanger.
Will and Merry have been dancing around each other since the beginning of the Jupiter Point series. I was so excited when I found out that Hot Pursuit was finally their book and believe me when I say I was not disappointed. Will is the town's deputy, slow and serious. Merry is the town's sassy reporter and loves to drive Will crazy. When they figure out Jupiter Point's arson problem leads to something bigger, they find themselves working together. Will is such an alpha male, strong and fierce with a tender sensitive side. Merry has always stood on her own, never needing or wanting any help. So when Will wants to help her she doesn't know how to act. Will and Merry have had this attraction to each other forever but are apprehensive about pursuing it. When they finally give in to their feelings, their chemistry is scorching hot. I loved the two of them together. Hot Pursuit is a great addition to the Jupiter Point series. It was a fun, sweet, hot read that will leave you wanting more from these characters.
**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
"Hot Pursuit" is written by Jennifer Bernard, and it is the 5th book in her Jupiter Point series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Will Knight and Merry Warren.
With Will being the deputy in town and Merry being a journalist, there was a lot of things that could have potentially gone against them being together. For example, Merry going undercover as a waitress for a lead in a story, her boss' insistence in finding out what's going on in the case Will was still investigating as well as him wanting Merry to look up a cold case that dealt with Will's father's murder.
One of my favorite scenes was when Will and Merry discovered that they were each other's online dates. Who knew all that bantering could lead to compatibility!
"Hot Pursuit" was such a fun book! Will and Merry always bantered with each other, but you just knew they were going to hit it off. They had that much chemistry! Jennifer Bernard wrote another winner!
Will Knight is left in charge as the oldest of the family after his father was murdered.Merry Warren has always felt she didn't belong. Her father's family paid her mother to go away because she was Black and they where a rich white family and felt that she was not of their high wealth and position. Will is from Jupiter Point and is a Deputy Sheriff Merry is a journalist natural enemies ( they think but don't really think ) . They both have joined a sight called flirt and do not know that they are talking to each other . They really like each other when they don't know one is the other , They have sparks in real life that are out of this world . Once they realize that they like each other in both worlds they decide to see where thing go .....Come along for this action packed romance packed ride you will be glad you did ! I love how the story has references to the other couples/friends in each book .
Sheriff's Deputy Will Knight and Reporter Merry Warren have known and harassed each other for 3 years. They constantly clash whenever they meet. Will is very slow and deliberate and has no sense of humor where Merry is concerned as she is always harassing him about ANY news of investigations he's involved in. The problem is that Merry decides to do a little investigating of her own involving a drug case that is becoming bigger and more dangerous by the day and Will, caretaker that he has always been, is doing anything he can to keep her safe, much to her dismay! These two have a smoldering attraction that both have significant difficulty dealing with. Especially considering their histories! I loved the family vibe in this book and, am always looking forward to the next book in the Jupiter Point series!
I loved Hot Sparks by Jennifer Bernard, the fifth book in her Jupiter Point series. Finally, we get Will Knight and Merry Warren’s story. These two have driven each other, and us, the reader, crazy with their antics and sarcastic comments to one another. Having the flirt anonymously through an app was genius. Having love sneak up on these two was also amazing, especially in the manner Ms. Bernard handled it.
I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Bernard wove a wonderful story, drawing me in and not letting go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait to read her next book. This is not only the fifth book in the Jupiter Point series but also the start of her Knight Brothers series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Will and Merry are as opposite as opposite can be. He is stoic, quiet and was forced to be the father to his younger brother at a young age. Merry is always looking for the scoop, outgoing and has only had her mom (who isn’t around much) and herself. When their careers cross on one particular case (he is a deputy and she is a reporter), their true feelings start to show.
The characters are witty and the banter is great. The case they are working on took me on a roller coaster, but I need more on his dad. The younger brother was surprising when he actually opened up to his brothers. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to find out what actually happened to his dad, who is responsible and how the rest of the brothers meet their matches. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
