Olento Research wants to control the world. The Lucidite Institute wants to save it.

Twelve men went missing.

Six months later they awake from drug-induced stupors to find themselves locked in a lab.

And on the night of a new moon, eleven of those men, possessed by new--and inhuman--powers, break out of their prison and race through the streets of Los Angeles until they disappear one by one into the night.

Olento Research wants its experiments back. Its CEO, Mika Lenna, will tear every city apart until he has his werewolves imprisoned once again. He didn't undertake a huge risk just to lose his would-be assassins.

However, the Lucidite Institute's main mission is to save the world from injustices. Now, it's Adelaide's job to find these mutated men and protect them and society, and fast. Already around the nation, wolflike men are being spotted. Attacks on innocent women are happening. And then, Adelaide realizes what her next step must be: She has to find the alpha wolf first. Only once she's located him can she stop whoever is behind this experiment to create wild beasts out of human beings.

Alpha Wolf: A Paranormal Science Fiction Thriller (Olento Research #1) by Sarah Noffke, narrated by Elizabeth Klett, is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. It is a pretty cool book. The men are all taken and put in this research facility for 6 months and experimented on. There are 12 of them. They are kept drugged. One of them has extra strength, after all the the experiments, busts them out, all but one that was asleep/drugged and they missed getting him out. Two gals from different institutes are forced to work together to find the men, the gals are on the good team and want to save the escaped men before they are found again. These two chicks are so obnoxious I want to slap them from here. The rest of the people at the institutes are great. The rest of the story you have to find out by reading yourself...not going to spoil it... Good story except for those annoying women! ugh! The narrator did a wonderful job. Great voice for this book.

Want a brand new take on werewolves?
What would happen if a corporation began genetically modifying humans to be part wolf, part human? How would those individuals react? The series blends science fiction with paranormal and creates a really interesting new concept for fans of both genres.

My original Alpha Wolf audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.
This is the first book in the four-books Olento Research series by Sarah Noffke. Although set in the same world of dream travelers as Noffke's other series and featuring several well-known characters from other books, it works perfectly well even if you are not familiar with Noffke's previous works as plenty of history is provided. However, if you've listened to/read at least the Ren series in the past, you may feel a greater connection to the story right from the start.
Ren's daughter, Adelaide, is one of the protagonists who needs to find twelve men who were abducted and genetically modified by a scrupulous corporation to be part wolf, part human. Snarky Adelaide is teamed up with sassy FBI agent Rox. Two assertive, abrasive women make for plenty of banter back and forth, as Adelaide thoroughly loathes Rox. The story line is intriguing and nothing like the usual werewolves' sagas. As it is the first in a new series, it isn't terribly fast-paced as characters are introduced and background is provided, making sure all the characters are fully fleshed out. But there were still plenty of suspenseful as well as very emotional moments. The male characters were really interesting, too, but the limelight was definitely stolen by Adelaide and Rox. The story certainly kept my attention throughout and I can't wait to find out where this story will be heading in book 2, Lone Wolf.

Elizabeth Klett narrates the story in a nice pace and with a pleasant, clear tone that is easy to listen to. Using a wide variety of accents and easily distinguishable voices she covers a large number of characters effortlessly and really brings the story to life. There were no issues with the production of the audiobook.

A great mix of science fiction and paranormal / fantasy and highly recommended if you enjoy action, banter, characters to root for, nasty villains, suspense and very emotional moments. Basically, there's something here for everybody.

Kind of a Werewolf!

As a werewolf book, I would give this book three stars, but as a thriller it would get five stars. So, together, I give it four stars.

An evil company called, Olento, owned by an evil genius, Mika Hennen, is gathering up men to turn them into werewolves. He wants to create a race of super assassins!

Another company, called Lucidite, is determined to stop them and help the men adjust to their new lives.

Although the book doesn’t have a lot of werewolf action, it gives enough to keep you interested, and the book moves along at a fast pace.

If you are interested in the paranormal, then you’ll like this book. If you are interested in bloodthirsty werewolves, then I suggest you give this book a try.

This is the first book in a series.

The Dream Traveller world delves deep into the world of the paranormal and supernatural, even though one could say it already played there anyway. Werewolves are front and center in this first book of Noffke's latest series, along with a beloved piece of likely our favorite Dream Traveller ever. A daughter takes over the spotlight from her father, but is she ready for the challenge?

*I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review!*

This book is proof that you never know where life throws you. One day you're a perfectly almost normal human being, the next you wake up and you're a werewolf who craves blood, sex and violence. Even more so, you are another freaking race of people who can dream travel and have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves.
That is seriously messed up. Of course Sarah Noffke came up with it. Genetically engineered werewolves, 'cause that is all the rage nowadays. Haha you got it "rage"? I loved the weres, especially Kaleb, he's so cute (for a murderous half man, half animal thing) and Con was a hottie (for an ex-drug addict), Zeph was definitely an alpha wolf (for a forgetting sort of man-beast).
I can say that I can bypass that 180 degrees turnaround but, there is something else that my brain refuses to let go. How on EARTH does she come up with the most obnoxious, annoying, crazy rude characters of all time (I am talking about the spawn of Satan here, aka Adelaide) and still makes me love them?
This is something I'll never ever get. My brain and every moral ethics say that I should only feel repugnance for that horrid human being but my heart loves her and wants for her to find a measure of happiness. That is a paradox.
And don't get me talking about Rox the FBI agent by day/prostitute by night (I swear I didn't come up with that, it's that she-devil), she came so out of the blue and filled the screen with her loud personality and appearance which perfectly balances Addie's reserved self.
I had so much fun traipsing through so many character's heads. That was a huge party. It's always fun having nightmares after reading the evil guy's thoughts. And again, you can know a person by the villains she comes up with. And the ones Ms. Noffke creates just keep getting better and better at being, well, villainous.
I will have to say something, it's something that I have a very hard time admitting, but I am man enough to say it, I mean, woman enough, ok, here it goes: I MISS REN!
Did that just come out of my keyboard?
Yep, it did.
It's a small comfort that he left his daughter behind and that she is set on going forward with the family trait.
In the next books I would love to see more of Lucien, more of Addie coming into her powers and maybe maybe maybe some news about Ren (this can be translated into: "please, dear author, please, I'm begging you on my knees in the corner of the room sitting on broken glass, please, give us something more about Ren's whereabouts and do-abouts", sometimes you have to resort to inventing new words, and this is that type of situation).
I loved this new spin off the Dream Traveler world, very exciting and intriguing. As always can't wait for the next book.

Another great book by the amazing Sarah Noffke! I love her writing style, her world-building & the way that she is able to link such different stories together by using her characters & her worlds!

When I first heard that Ms. Noffke was writing a werewolf series, I was a little taken aback. After all, I wanted more Dream Travel & the Luccidites. But, I also love shifter stories. I was pleasantly surprised when these particular wolves were also Dream Travelers! And, the addition of some of my favorite characters from other series just made this one even better! As usual, Ms. Noffke has included her trademark snarky Brit (for those of us who love them) & some really evil villains, as well as some likeable but flawed protagonists.

I first read this book when the title was "Alpha Wolf" and dearly loved it. Now, after listening to the amazing Audiobook, I love it even more! Ms. Klett does a wonderful job with her performance and it truly added a whole other dimension to the book. The dialogue between Adelaide and Rox was great when reading it and even better when listening to it. This is a wildly entertaining and intriguing series and I recommend it to anybody looking for something to read that is fun as well as thought provoking.

This book was incredible and I did not put it down until I was done! I love origin stories anyways and to have an origin werewolf story in my favorite universe was the icing on the cake. As always, the character development is the real story here. The plot winded and twisted and I saw names from other Dream Traveler series. I still want a timeline (need a timeline!) but the story was gripping and fast paced so it distracted me from that. I love how the story unfolds and the characters build up to a crescendo. Zephyr is a strong leader but I do think that Connor may be my favorite in this novel! Read this book if you love action, werewolves, and Dream Travelers!

This is a great start to the Orlento Research series. The introduction of engineered werewolves adds a interesting and different spin to Noffke's amazing Dream Traveler world. These wolves are not like any other were's you have read about, they are the first of their kind and are on the run from their creators. The Lucidites need to get to them first and figure out who created them and why. Noffke's excellent descriptive writing and Kemp’s great narration lets you feel their struggles, fears, aggression and yearnings, and the exciting plot keeps you totally enthralled. The story and its characters easily captures your imagination; from Mika's ruthlessness, to Rox's sass, Conner's self-deprecation and Adelaide's sarcastic repartee. The narrator does a good job of the different accents in the story; she even managed to throw in a few glottal stops into Adelaide’s cockney accent and captured her snarky attitude well. This is a thrilling tale full of intrigue, humour, loss and strife. Rox is an interesting character and you have to wonder what her sassy, sexy bravado is really hiding. Adelaide's sarcasm and abrasive nature highlights her relation to Ren, and your heart goes out to her as she walks in his shadow. Conner is my favourite "wolf" so far, he is damaged, torn, but has an intelligence and empathy that draws you to him. In Noffke's usual fashion, she has created a storyline and characters that pull at your imagination as well as your heart. It's a compelling tale, with links that tie into her other books, once again weaving more depth into an already great world and yet can still be read as a stand alone series. I loved this story and look forward to listening to the next audiobook

This is the series that came after Ren Lewis. It is a stand alone series as well as smoothly knitted into Mrs.Noffke's other series.
It brought a smile to my face having a part of Ren back in Adelaid's snark.
If you read Ren, You will recognize several characters form the Lucidite Institute. You also would know the lead investigator into the Werewolf outbreak, "Canis Lupus Project"is what the creators called it. is Ren's daughter Adelaide. It was the level 5 case her dad had been working on and he handed it to Adelaide before he left.Tray Underwood, head Official at the Lucidite Institute, Adelaide Lewis,Trent the head strategist,Dr. Aiden Livingston (it was his research that was stolen when he asked for outside help on a project he was working on for Ren.) Rox is an FBI agent/dream traveler that has joined the team.
There were 12 men abducted from various locations, we met 4 of the werewolf /dream travelers in this book Rio,Zephyr,Kaleb, and Connor as well as a few of the lead people at the Olento Research facility. Mika, Alexander Drake,Morgan,(Morgan has a twin sister and Mr.Lenna offered them more money if Morgan could get his twin to participate in his testing research trial.) Then there is Grant (head of security at Olento )We also fine one of the men was an apprentices of the dastardly Charles Knight.A character from the Vagabond Circus series.
This is a werewolf story that you haven't seen before. So complex and intriguing story. Mrs. Noffke is a brilliant Author and all her books tie in with the Dream traveler world she so painstakingly created.I love seeing characters I already know their back story and have seen them in action. She always introduces us to newbies as well as our old friends and nemesis. You haven't read any of Sarah Noffke's other books? Don't worry they do quite well as stand alone series.Sarah is brilliant in her writing. I have read four of her series and always want to read more. The Alpha Wolf series is off to a hair raising good start, I can hardly wait for the next installment and this one hasn't hit the book shelves yet.

I really enjoyed this story. The world of Dream Travellers is rich with possibilities as they each possess talents that seperate them from mere mortals. The characters are great I love that the women are both assertive and rude. The idea that science can create a werewolf is an interesting twist in addition to turning them into dream travellers. These hybrids have the strength and speed usually associated with were's but have additional powers which are yet to be discovered by most. Each of the 12 werewolves will have their own power and I look forward to finding out what they are. I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this series. Having recently read Sarah Noffke's Vagabond Circus series it was nice to return to Dream Traveller world and I liked that there was a link between the two series. I recieived an advance copy for review.

She is an author whose story telling is mesmerizing. You CANNOT put down her books!

I read this book in 1 sitting! I couldn't bear to not know what was happening.
I know who I am rooting for, and what I am hoping will happen next. But if there is 1 thing i have 'learnt' about Sarah Noffke is that she will do exactly what you cannot even imagine!

I am a big fan of shifter stories and this was a pleasant departure from the popular trends in this genre currently.
I liked the twist of science, biology and mental powers (a la dream travellers).
I definitely need to know what will happen next!

And now I have learnt, whenever a new Sarah Noffke book releases - keep the evening free, order in & settle in for an adventure!

Once again Sarah Noffke brings creativity and intrigue to her writing. This time it's with werewolves. No they don't howl at the moon or compete against sparkly vampires. Her unique tale brings a new light to an ancient myth. With unforgettable characters, intense drama, science and fantasy all rolled in to one. A must read!

This series comes after Ren. But is a new series that can be read without having read Ren.
If you read Ren you'll recognize several characters form the Lucidite Institute.
There were 12 men abducted from various locations, we meet 4 of the werewolf /dream travelers in this book Rio, Zephyr, Kaleb Magner, and Connor as well as a few of the lead people at the Olento Research facility. We read that one of the men was an apprentices of the dastardly Charles Knight. A character from the Vagabond Circus series.

It is great reading of characters I already know about. If you haven't read any of Sarah's other books don't stress they can all stand alone or read as a continuing series. The Alpha Wolf series is off to an amazing start, I can hardly wait for the next book. I got this book as an ARC copy and I have left my review voluntarily. But needless to say I have bought the book anyways who wouldn't when Sarah's writing is so captivating.
Would I recommend this book YES

Noffke and werewolves?! Yes please! This is a fantastic expansion of the Dream Travelers world and a fun way to introduce not only new characters, but completely new concepts! I still miss Ren (although I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him), but Adelaide is starting to fill that void. I love the new, more adult feel that this book takes on, but still is soundly YA, even though Rox and Zephyr certainly heat things up. Just to warn you, there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, so be ready to start begging for book two the minute you finish!

Great start to a spin off of Noffke’s Lucidites series. I love how the Dream Traveler world is spreading out through all these different books. There are several spin offs and all are linked in some way which makes them feel familiar right from the start. Several characters reoccur and new ones are always being introduced. Also, many of the spin off series can be read without reading the other books. Though personally I like going down the traditional timeline.
This book centers around Adelaide and her first major case for the Lucidites. She is determined to prove herself. Adelaide is a great character. Like her father Ren she is prickly and has no time for niceties. For this mission it’s her job to chase down a bunch of men who have been genetically altered and are now werewolves. She has been paired with a smiley feminine FBI agent, Rox, and is not happy about it. I liked the origin story of the werewolves and the nature of the changes that takes place within them. There was a swift pace to the story and a good amount of action. I’m curious to see what will happen with these newly created wolfmen and what developments will arise in the next book in the series.

Ok, where do I even start? Should I mention that you don't even need to read my review (you can if you want of course, lol) but you should stop and read Alpha Wolf, like, now! If this is your first Sarah Noffke book or you are an avid reader of hers, you won't be disappointed....at all! The characters are well developed and fun to follow. The world building is intense enough to put you right in the middle of the story. This is the start of a new series but if you have read Sarah's other books you will see other characters pop up. This is sooooo exciting!

Olento research has figured out how to make werewolves after kidnapping 12 unsuspecting men. They are able to escape and this is where the Lucidites come in to play. Olento Research's goal is to make these men into assassins and the Lucidites are trying to save them along with all of humanity. Sarah Noffke writes a great bad guy (oxymoron?) and you will quickly learn to love to hate him. Adelaide is the agent that has been assigned this case by the Lucidites to try and solve. This is where we have a little fun. Adelaide is the daughter of the greatest, er, um, worst, British bloke the Lucidites have ever employed. (if you don't know who Ren is, you should try her other series) She is definitely her father's daughter. She has been given a partner who she thoroughly loathes. Seeing these two banter back and forth keeps things light with all the heavy that is going on. As they start to unravel the web that Mika Lenna has weaved with his werewolf research the Lucidites begin to find some truths. But we all know with the truth there come more questions.

As the plot thickens there are more twists and turns and rollercoaster rides full of wonder. There are more characters that are introduced and they all play an integral part in the plot. This is a great twist on the werewolf society we have all come to know with some dream travelers as well. Truly an amazing start to a spin off series. Reader beware...there is a cliffhanger. Sarah Noffke knows how to write those as well! Bring on the sequel!

Well this was certainly a wasted 99c. The premise for the plot was intriguing, but the author failed in delivery. The characters were one-dimensional and unlikable-- from the vain, egotistical Adelaide to her reluctant FBI partner Rox (who dressed like a hooker for no apparent reason). Both women referred to the forcefully-turned werewolves as mutts and dogs, rather than showing compassion for their circumstances. The submissive, supposedly alpha Zephyr (it made no sense that Adelaide excuses his submissiveness "he follows orders because he was ex-military, and used to following orders" conveniently forgetting the alpha is the top dog, special ops, and not likely to look to others to run his pack, especially outsiders).

Not a redeeming quality to any of the characters to make them likable, or to make the book worth reading. The organization who was supposedly supposed to help the wolves, held them in disdain (again, let's forget the fact they were abducted and forced into this), treating them like inferior, unthinking animals. Hated the way the book was going and stopped at 34 percent (booke ends at 80 percent, the remaining 20 percent in marketing), I couldn't stand the lack of respect. Who wants to read a book where all the characters dislike each other? I'm so upset the author squandered an opportunity to really make the story line tension-filled and unique.

Read the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon to get a sense of the story-- trust me, it doesn't improve with reading. The 5-star reviews for this one completely puzzle me.

Mika Lenna -- an already powerful dream traveler and head of Olento Research -- wants to control the world. He just needs two components: more bio-engineered dream traveler gifts and an army behind him. Capturing the twelve men was easy, as was experimenting on them while keeping them in drug induced stupors. But six months later -- on the eve of a new moon -- the men have fully awaken and are changed. Possessing new gifts of speed, strength and inhuman powers, they break free of their prison. Mika wants his army of assassins back no matter the costs. It's the Lucidites mission is to save the world. With twelve werewolves on the loose, the world is decidedly more dangerous. Already wolflike men have been spotted across the world -- leaving fatal attacks in their midst. Now, it's Adelaide's job to protect society as well as these mutated men before the body count rises. She must hunt the alpha wolf -- he who controls him -- controls the pack. With a new twist on these wolflike men, ALPHA WOLF takes a look at the possible evils of a scientific genius mind. Unique characters and snappy dialogue infuse this story with snark and laughter. A taut storyline combined with action-packed scenes propels this engrossing novel. A spellbinding YA supernatural fantasy that's a must read for the young and not so young alike!

This is a stand alone, new, series that can link back to other series. The lucidite series is what got me through the death of my aunt. The Ren series was a joy to read. I had high hopes for this series. I couldn't even force myself to finish this book. It started with an amazing bang and fizzled fast. As a person who comes from a military family with high ranking officers and snipers this book was a slap in the face. No man with armed forces back ground is going to roll over and let a street walker whip him. They aren't going to hold themselves back when they are under attack by any force. Armed forces are strong men to start with then you give them special abilities by 'splicing in wolf genetics' they aren't going to get beat. Such an overwhelming let down. I truly feel like a moron for recommending this to my family, especially active duty family, before I read it personally.

I like it

But I gotta admit that I find the females a bit ridiculous. I can't connect to them like I could the males. All of dog related putdowns could have been left out. Adelaide could have been abrasive without those bullying remarks. Those remarks only made me hate her character more; even though I know she has some issues going one. I'm going to keep reading the series because I want to know what happens to everyone else.

Not very good

First the pros. Well written with a reasonable plot. Now the cons. I could never understand authors who make major good guys such jerks. No successful organization could possibly function with such characters. Not good natured ribbing but full dysfunction.

Review originally published at: http://www.lomeraniel.com/audiobookre...

Twelve men were kidnapped by the Olento Research to experiment with them. They were transformed in werewolves and given powers only possessed by the Lucidites. These men get to escape, and the Lucidite Institute will try to find a cure for them and try to catch the men behind Olento Research.

First of all, let me clarify that having read ‘The Lucidites’ is a prerequisite for reading this book. Maybe also the ‘Ren’ series, but this is optional. The reader needs to have a previous knowledge about the Lucidites to fully understand and enjoy this book.

I am a total fan of Sarah Noffke. I have listened to ‘The Reverians’, ‘The Lucidites’, and the ‘Vagabond Circus’ series, and also the first book in the ‘Ren’ series. Sarah is able to give soul to a book and its characters, and I think this is why her books are so loved by many.

So I was looking forward to this new series, ready to have my breath taken away again. But hard as I tried, this book did not click with me. It is not a bad book, it is in fact quite good, and it has great characters and lots of action; but somehow there was something missing. I am not usually a fan of werewolves stories, but I am also not a circus fan, and I loved the ‘Vagabond Circus’ series. I think that, despite how well the characters were built, I missed a central character to whom I could connect. It seemed Adelaide was this character, but there were not enough insights that got me attached to this character. It is true that most of Sarah’s books are written in first person from and the point of view of the main character. I think the same could be achieved writing in third person, but somehow it did not work here. It is true that Adelaide was an important character but after a while it did not feel like the main one, and in some of the scenes she was not even present, so the writing in third person made perfect sense. I wish I would have cared for the characters more than I did.

For the rest it was a very enjoyable book with very vivid characters. It is clear that it is just the beginning of a series and a mere introduction to the real thing. I believe the next books will fill the void this one left me.

I was really happy to listen to another book narrated by Elizabeth Klett. One of my first audiobooks was ‘Defects’, from ‘The Reverians’, and I completely fell in love with Elizabeth’s soothing style back then. She is really good with voices and especially accents, making it seem effortless.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

The Lucidites are large and in charge once more attempting a new feat to save the world! The new threat now is a team of researchers that have created werewolves, and not the sexy shifter kind ;) The person in charge of this level 5 investigation is none other than our beloved Adelaide, the infamous Ren Lewis's daughter. With still trying to get a grip on her father's recent passing, Adelaide is forced to dig deep and swallow her grief in order to find the loose cannons that are ripping the citizens to shreds. With help from an FBI agent, can Adelaide and the Lucidites stop the beasts before it's too late?

Alpha Wolf is the start of a new series, but with familiar characters from the authors previous works. Incorporating Adelaide (from the Ren series) was bloody brilliant! She is most definitely a character I love to love for her straight forward, no nonsense talk. She is a tough cookie having inherited her fathers super duper powers and giving no cares in the world what anyone thinks. The Lucidites are back in action with this new series as well, guiding Adelaide every step of the way while she is chained with a partner not of her choosing. Roxy, a dream traveler as well and FBI to boot, joins the team with a few tricks up her sleeve as well. Together, the banter between the two ladies is comical to say the least. My heart breaks for the emotional struggle Adelaide is going through right now with her father and now her own son frightened of her. I couldn't help but wonder if she doesn't come to terms with recent events, what will become of her son!

The werewolves were a nasty twist to the story, and brings Adelaide up short because her Jedi mind tricks don't work on them and until she unlocks her other super powers she is just as helpless as the humans they prey on. However, bringing Roxy into the picture balances that out, and creates a friend/enemy for Adelaide, and also some entertaining moments for us the readers/listeners. I was glued from beginning to end, and I can't wait to get started on the next book, Lone Wolf.

Narrator Review
Elizabeth Klett entertains us with this new and exciting adventure! I have had previous experience with this narrator from the Lucidites Series, and I absolutely enjoy her! Her tone, her timing and her accents bring life to an already riveting story. The only thing I have left to say is please don't ever leave us Elizabeth, I would just die without you! You scored a 5 Fang Rating from this listener!

Spoilers:

Learning about her father, it does not seem surprised of Adelaide's personality. Plus, I think there is more to why she has such a high wall up. When I realized this, I was able to tolerate Adelaide better. She need to polish up her social skills. No one is perfect.

The other main character is the blond on the cover. She is FBI Agent Rox Speare. She is not the traditional FBI Agent stereotypes. She dress is three inch heels ( which I wear and I wear cowboy boys boot) and short skirts. She reminded me of the movie Erin Brockovich. This FBI Agent dress like Erin Brockovich but she also smart like Erin Brovocich. I like that she is different.

The werewolves are interesting. We slowly meet them. There were some scenes which I felt was fake. I also thought the behavior of the werewolves are off. Then I had to think outside the box. If these were men that were turned through a lab and are half werewolf and half man, who knows how their personality can be. Again, what is really in that potion that changed them? Yes, it was stolen formula. It seems like there is more.

The evil lab is owned by Mika. He truly has the heart of Hitler and Stalin. It would seem none if his employees would want to go against him. There is that one scientist of his who like to pokes the bear.

Again, thinking outside this box is why I gave it four stars. There are two other books of this series coming out this year. I want to know what will happen to the werewolves, if Mika will die for his atrocities, and if Adelaide going to lose her nasty attitude, and treat people with respect. There are other questions I have as well.

I looking forward to reading the future books of this series despite the author joke in acknowledgements section about Obama. It was a positive comment. As a proud GOP, it irked me. Even with it being just one joke about him. Why would one joke matter? My daddy and uncle served. Republicans understand this without further explanation.

If you are GOP like me, still read this. Why? The author makes a personal opinion in a tactful way. The author does NOT attack Republicans like certain other authors. The author did NOT put that joke in the story like certain other authors. Again the joke is only in the acknowledgments. Read this book and think outside the box.

Alpha Wolf is the first book in the Olento Research series. However, I wouldn’t truly recommend starting this series until after you had read The Lucidites where you will understand much better what does being dream traveler entails. That and the fact that certain characters and situations were taken from other series made things a little too difficult to understand. Don’t worry, you could still understand the story. Nevertheless, I believe that a little background explanation was needed to build a certain degree of credibility and bond with the plot and the characters.
The plot was quite unique and that is rate to find these days. Werewolves are in almost every paranormal book but there are either born or turned. However, this book presents the idea of creating them through science and turn them into weapons against in favor of the evil plans of a very malicious genius. I loved that idea but it made it a little unbelievable that all the wolfs were dream travelers and they have special powers of their own. Sure, you already have them as wolf so a little extra shouldn’t make such a difference. The problem was that, at least in my opinion, it did. It was hard for me to truly connect with those characters. Truth be told, I didn’t quite like both female leads of the book. They deserved someone that set them straight. Nevertheless, that never happened in the plot. On the bright side, the story made up for it in the action and mystery department. Honestly, I am not a fan of thriller books but this one has something special that made me interested in Mika’s plans and experiments. Yes! I did let my own evil genius out and I found myself scolding the villain for not putting things harder for the heroes. The heroes I couldn’t truly connect with them, but that just made me have a soft spot for the villain. He was mean and everything but everyone has its own evil side when we are reading a book. Come on, I am sure you have always just wanted to make things difficult for the hero every now and then to make the plot much more exciting. I believe that is what happened here and that it was the true spark of the novel.

My original Alpha Wolf audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

This is the first book in the four-books Olento Research series by Sarah Noffke. Although set in the same world of dream travelers as Noffke's other series and featuring several well-known characters from other books, it works perfectly well even if you are not familiar with Noffke's previous works, as plenty of history is provided.

The storyline is intriguing and nothing like the usual werewolves' sagas.

Alpha Wolf by Sarah Nofke

Eleven men selected by their skills to be experimented on and injections given to mutate them into werewolves and cage them within the Olento labs. That is until, they became strong enough and broke free and each scattered in different directions--except for the one who hid long after the cages were searched by security.

Due to reports of Werewolf sightings after a woman was mauled in Los Angles, The Lucidites were on the hunt for the rest of the Werewolves before anyone was hurt or the Olento members recaptured them.

Rox, from the FBI is hands on street fighting, bubble gum popping, ultra femme, flirt that doesn't always play by the rules she says she'll follow and she doesn't take hit points or damage in attacks either.

Adelaide, fiery and rude beyond control to everyone, just as expected of the daughter of Ren Lewis to lead the recovery expedition, but there is a bit of a soft spot deep inside and it may reached again for the sake of her family and perhaps her heart...

Their first mission was to collect the Alpha: Zephyr.

Within the safety of the the Lucidite confines more is revealed about who he has become and how his interests have changed.
This all comes together as they bring in others of the pack, but can they keep them?

I LOVED this book! I cannot wait for book 2! I want to know more of their stories! I wanted to tell more but wouldn't give away anything else!!!!!!!
