From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author R.G. Alexander, Finn Factor Book 8. Who says love isn’t Lawless?
Chief Solomon Finn needed a change. After leaving the force to help his family and think about his future, it doesn't take him long to figure out what it is that he's been missing.
Hugo Wayne.
Keeping the peace while burying his deepest desires had sent the one man he wanted running in the other direction. No more.
Everyone else in his damn family had found their happy ending... It was time he did the same.
Warning: Gay men in love and getting busy. Shower attacks. An overabundance of Finnterventions and dinner arguments about Nora Roberts. Did I mention all that gay sex? Don’t read this if you don’t like gay sex. Or spankings and handcuffs and men having sex…with each other. Just trust me on this one.

No connection between the main characters, way too many names and side characters to keep track of all of them, other people's drama taking the spotlight for many pages and no real communication between Sol and Hugo.
Still, I will keep reading books from this series because there is just something about it that pulls me in.
Yassss! I was not disappointed. The interracial aspect here is perfection! Hugo is great, and I love how there is no ambiguity over the fact that he is black. His family is loving, hilariously funny, and BIG so they are a great match for the Finns. I love how Hugo and Younger loved each other and, though they had their issues, we didn't have super annoying miscommunication. I felt their concerns were valid, and they were adult about things, even if they weren't always smart.
The sex was hawt, though the dirty talk didn't always work for me, and there was too much of it at times. I will say it was important to me for Younger to top at least once, and when it happened, I felt complete lol.
3.75
On to Book 9! I don't really read m/f but I'm going to have to make an exception for Bronte and her leprechaun because oooweee, that looks like it's going to be fire.
------------------
OMG, is this...is this interracial?? Yesssss!!!! I need it NOW!! Who is Hugo? New character? Old flame? I don't remember. Where can I get an ARC??
*** Finn Factor #8 *** We've been waiting for Solomon and Hugo ! Chief Solomon Finn, better known as "Younger" because there is an older Solomon/Sol in the family, has retired, spending time with family, friends and volunteering for the youth shelter. At 40, he's lanky, rugged and chiseled with dark blonde hair that's grown out and blue eyes. Younger's "one" love is Hugo, 38, a black man, muscled, with brown eyes and dimples, who left the Fire department to be an RN.
Each comes from a large meddling family. Now that Younger has come out as gay, finally, he wants to see Hugo, but it turns out different than the way he thought. Younger falls in the shower and needs the ER for his broken arm. Hugo and his sister, Bronte go see him. The sparks are still there for both men, and Younger goes to Hugo's birthday party. They get hot and heavy quickly.
Hugo has rules this time, and then he says no rules, but begins to pull away, after he hears the town wants Younger back as Chief. Hugo doesn't want to be ignored again the way Younger had treated him when he was Chief; too busy with work to have time for Hugo. Hugo likes retired Younger, who has more time to spend.
We see the crazy families who are loving souls. There is trouble from Irish coiusin William, and from Boone, who causes a few scenes. There are long revealing talks and sexy times that are dirty, hard core, intense and deeply passionate.
The Finn family stories have been wonderful, snarky, funny, and romantic. Highly recommended. ENJOY !
Who knew our high-strung and always-in-control chief of police is a natural bottom?
As previous books didn't let us on much about him, Younger's story shows tremendous personal growth and almost a complete personality change. And only for the better.
The fact that he has been in love for years in his once subordinate and managed to hide his relationship even from his own family was a huge surprise. I have to admit, when he admitted he was gay in the last book, I expected another whirlwind romance with a guy he meets on his holiday-retirement.
I can get on board for this being a solid, good Finn book. I felt for both Younger and Hugo but I also think they sacrificed too much of their book time for sex versus connection, relationship and communication. Neither of them did enough of it. For being together as long as they were they really knew nothing about each other.
I brought it down a whole star because the whole "bad, new Chief" part of the plot was so thin as to be almost nonsensical - it got the job done though it wasn't elegant or particularly good writing or plotting.
I deducted the other half star for the Finn invasion near the end of the book. What the hell was the point of the whole football game/spa day thing? I'm still scratching my head about it. Leave a comment if you got the point of it so that I can get some closure on this issue.
I also noticed a lot of missing words in the sentences of this book.
This book made me more interested in James than anything and I hope Bronte and William can get it together.
3.5 Stars, actually. This is my third favorite couple. Younger and Hugo have this amazing connection between them, and yes, it reminds me a little bit of Bellamy and Seamus. The Waynes are just as amazing as the Finns, but it is a little bit hard to catch up with so many names on both families. I cried a little bit, because I do think there's only one for us, and no matter how many things happen between two people, that love cannot and shouldn't be hidden. Love should make us free. Shawn Finn is like the dad we all need. And, as usual, the sex scenes are too damn sexy. R.G. Alexander never disappoints me. I think I have a thing for her irish men.
Oh, and when we will have Ken and Brady's wedding? What else can I say that you already know? I'm in love with this book series. It's been a sexy, heart-warming experience. I love my Finns.
This may be my least favourite of the series so far! I felt like there was too much sex and not enough real conversation or connection between the 2 mcs. It's also really frustrating how many family members and names their are to remember. I'm not overly interested in reading about the random Irish cousins I think this is the end of this series for me.
I think I’m done with the Finn’s for a while. I didn’t enjoy this book nearly as much as some of the others. I got tired of the breaking up and the indecision. In fact, I could understand why Hugo broke up with Solomon the first time, but after that it didn’t make much sense.
You know, after Seamus, Solomon’s book was my most anticipated in the series. Unfortunately it was let down by Hugo.
I love Solomon and this book only made me love him more. Hugo on the other hand irked me to my very soul.
I imagine I would’ve understood Hugo‘a motives more if I was present for all the times that Younger screwed him over or left him high and dry. Unfortunately I wasn’t so I can only judge his actions and not Younger’s. Is that shortsighted of me? Probably. Do I care? Not a bit.
I understood why Hugo left the first time. I could mostly accept when he left the 2nd. But the third? Hell to the no. Stop beating that dead fucking horse! Self righteous asshole!
So maybe it was hard to swallow that big giant pill when we got our HEA.
On the bright side. The steak was hot as hell. And I adored Hugo’s family and all the literary names and stuff.
I'm wavering on this one. I'm stuck somewhere between thinking that I must have a cold, cold heart for only giving 3 stars, to thinking this series is coming perilously close to jumping the shark with this one.
I honestly don't know. What I do know is that it felt like there were about 40 secondary characters in this book and it was impossible to keep up with who they all were. Not only do we have the super huge family of Finn's, now we also have Hugo Wayne's large brood. And then there's a few non-related people milling about as well. Super-fans will be in hogs-heaven.
That being said, I've read the whole series and Younger has been on the periphery, popping in every now and then with some words of wisdom but also being kind of forgettable until the last book. His story here had all the hallmarks of a Finn book, with lots of family "in-jokes" and banter, plus the addition of a series of flashbacks to help explain the 2nd chance at love that Hugo and Younger are now trying for, but I just didn't love it.
I'll admit that these two men have chemistry in spades and there was a lot of nice, and hot, and sexy moments once they moved past being angry and having boundaries. The issue I have with them is that these two grown men, who are headed towards 40, don't talk to each other to work out their problems. They avoid each other for days, or weeks, or a whole month in one instance. Until coincidence, or their families, step in to fix it. As a side-effect these two have a boat-load of makeup sex.
It wasn't a bad book, it was just a bit overwhelming for my brain. This was one instance where I could have done with less family poking about. But as I said, Finn super-fans will love this.
This is part of the Finn Factor series, and in my honest opinion, the weakest of the lot. I like Solomon the Younger, I like Hugo, and I am happy for them, but they do not have the oomph and the fizzle of the other books in the series. Let me just add that I LOVE hugo's family. The Waynes are just as funny, smart, eccentric, lovable and amazing as the Finns. And Hugo's sister Bronte was one of my favourites. I can't wait to read her story, even if I only read MF on occasion.
No cliffhanger Standalone though part of a larger series Told from both POVs Minor editing issues throughout
I have been waiting for this book for a while now and let me tell you. It was worth the wait. It is the perfect mix of drama, laughter, love and smoking hot scenes that will gave you fanning yourself.
Solomon aka Younger has always done for other but never anything for himself. The one time he even remotely comes close to putting himself first it blows up in his face.
Fast forward a few years and fate steps in to make sure Solomon gets another chance.
This book reminds you that true love does exist and no matter the obstacles people can make it work.
Solomon Younger Finn🤌 I've been looking forward to his story the most and it did NOT disappoint. It was raw, lovely and exactly what I needed it to be. In some of these books I've had to force myself to finish it but I simply did not want this one to end. I drug it out and also couldn't seem to put it down. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!
3.5 Stars. What can I say I loved Younger! Hugo was okay but really did he have to become so suddenly insecure and well kind of cruel. Still I wanted Younger happy and the sex was super hot. There is a lot of push and pull in this book which isn't typically my favorite but I enjoyed it. I do think adding in a bunch of Irish cousins was a bit much - there are already SO MANY characters to try to remember. This was a lot of sex without a lot of connection or dialogue between the two MC's. But I'm adding a 1/2 star because of Younger - one of my favorite characters of the series.
I hate when each book ends and love getting into a new story of the Finn's and their loves. This was soooo good or maybe so bad in the sexest ways. R.G. Alexander can write! On to the next story.
Not my favorite Finn book, however, this was hot nonetheless. Younger finally gets his HEA and the support he's always wanted. He gets the man he's always wanted too so all in all not bad. Finn family can be overwhelming with all their drama and that part of the book stalled a bit but overall not A bad read.
Definitely my least favorite of the series. The back and forth between Younger and Hugo made my head spin. By the end, I was ready for them both to move on.
Lawless by the incredibly talented and outstanding author R.G. Alexander is the eights book in The Finn Factor Series. Every book in the aeries can be read as a standalone, for better understanding I recommend to read the books in order. There are a few crossover. The other book in the series are: Curious; Scandalous; Dangerous; Ravenous; Finn Again; Shameless; Fearless and Lawless. Lawless is Solomon and Hugo´s story. Lawless picks up where Fearless left off. Chief Solomon - Younger - Finn retired from his job , he needed a change. Now he helps his family and thinks about his future. He misses someone fiercely. He´s lonely and longs for Hugo. Everyone in his family found his HEA and now is his time. Hugo Wayne is a former officer and works as a nurse. He and Younger had something some time ago. But it fizzled out. Now both want a do-over, a second chance. But are the men all in ? I started reading Lawless and was hooked from page one. The story is great and the writing is brilliant. I love the words and the charcters. I love how they struggle and how they fight for each other. I could feel the charcters emotions in the words. And I love, love ,love the scorching hot sex scenes. I can´t post my favorite quote, because it would be a major spoiler, but only so much, look out for a dialogue in a pink van - I´d gave a lot to see that too. I can´t say how much I love this book. I recommend Lawless and wish I could give more than 5 stars. Thank you so much, R.G. Alexander !
Lawless is the story of The oldest Finn, Solomon or Younger as his brother's call him and Hugo Wayne. Solomon has lived his life in the shadow of his father Solomon Sr. He joined the police force because that's what he thought he needed to do, when his father resigns as Chief of Police and names Younger as his successor he agrees so he can keep the peace. But when Senior dies he learns what he didn't know happened to his youngest brother Rory he rethink his life and not only comes out to his family but also turns in his resignation as Police Chief. When an accident at home sends him to the ER, he finds himself face to face with the only man he has ever loved and chased away. With help from Hugo's sister Bronte he gets a second chance. Hugo Wayne was a cop and now a nurse working with his older sister Bronte. He can't believe that the man that he has always wanted is sitting in the DR with a broken arm and dopped up on pain meds.
Solomon and Hugo are still attracted to one another and with past hurts will they be able to find the love they both so deserve. Great Finn story with just the right amount of angst and lots of steamy scenes to melt your Kindle.
•*´¨)✯ ¸.•*¨) ✮ (¸.•´He already knew what he wanted. Who he wanted.
There are only a few families in the romance world that keeps me coming back for more. The Finns are one of them. In this ode to the great, finally, finally, Solomon, the Younger gets his happily ever after. But it is not without angst, and drama and one stubborn male nurse who is not willing to live and let live.
With all the years between them, Hugo knew Solomon was the one. But when fright that they'd always be in the closet closed in on him, Hugo ran and started a chain reaction.
Now a visit to his ER has brought the Finns and Solomon back into his life. Were the two willing to fight for it all, or would it take a Finnervention to release them for good?
I loved this book and can see myself revisiting soon enough. Recommended.
I have loved Younger since I was first introduced to his character. The reason? Because we are the same so I wanted his happiness above all others but it always seemed like he was put on the back burner, he always put himself on the back burner. If nobody deserved to be happy, Younger deserved it.
This book was more than I expected, more that I realized was needed. This book right wrongs and opened up ways to right other wrongs but it also gave other hope and showed that Family was everything. Lawless was just the book for Solomon Finn. The Younger. The Protector. This book gave us the Younger we grew to love and the Younger we knew was lurking beneath the surface. He just needed to “go all in.”
I do not think RG could have written a better book oh and I liked Hugo too even if he hurt my Younger, I guess he works for Solomon.
I usually don't read books whose characters have this age (around 40) unless it's an age-gap story. I don't know why but that will have to change because I had a great time with this book!
Since I haven't read all the books in this series yet, I think missed some fun moments and messed up many names, LOL. But I really enjoyed how mature Hugo and Solomon were and saved us from those drama-plots that I've read lately when it comes to younger characters. Not to say things were easy for them as they had to deal with several issues before they could really get started with their relationship.
Lastly, the sexy times is were delicious, sizzling and unforgettable (the one with the handcuffs was yum!).
Younger has always taken the path that he thought his family wanted, always sacrificed his own needs. The one mistake he made was sacrifice the love of his life, Hugo. And now his going to try winning him back. But the road is long........
I liked this book very much as for all the others in this series. I’m a little confused at times with who is who because the family is so big. But I enjoyed the book very much, it’s filled with emotions and the connection between Younger and Hugo is obvious from the first meeting in this story.
The writing style is easygoing and filled with dialogues and there’s no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings so the story flows well.
I feel like I get to know the characters and in the end I don’t want to leave them(that’s a good sign)
This is a story about holding on to the good in your life when it comes around and be true to yourself.
Ahh Younger. You everything. His growth. I love that man. And Hugo. Oh boy. The world is just not fair with all that sexiness. And William... Cannot wait to see what you get up to. So happy to see so many of the Finn gang. Loved how they were there for each other. I am well and truly stuck on the Finn family and all that is Finn related. Do I recommend? Oh-freaking-totally 10000% YES🙌🏾🙌🏾 Will I be be re-reading? Like come on that question is not even relevant. But if you need to see it in writing then. ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY——YES to the upteenth power. 🙌🏾🙌🏾👀👀
Stumbled onto this series when Shameless came out. Went to buy that book and realized it was a series, so I went ahead and bought them all and started the series at the first. This series is just wonderful. The Finn family is one that I would really love to know. Solomon was always a very mysterious character because you didn't know really any personal information about him. I knew I was gonna love his story and it brings in so many more wonderful characters. The Wayne's I figure are gonna be a great addiction. I don't know what kept this book from releasing when it first came up for pre-order. I was so let down when the date got pushed back and then my order was cancelled and I just happened to stumble on it last night. You will love this story.
I don't know whether I want to play cops and robbers or nurse 😉 When Younger finally lets go and decides to be true to himself he realizes Hugo is the missing piece. But is it too late for a second chance? Can Younger follow the rules Hugo doles out while trying to show how much he's changed? l was blushing throughout this book who knew Younger had that in him, not I. I look forward to reading more of the Finns but now anticipating what other branches come branching out (Waynes hint hint lol not so subtle hint tee hee).
