As the sister of a powerful Viking chief, Brynhild Freysson is used to giving orders and having them obeyed, which makes it all the more difficult to accept when she suddenly finds herself at the mercy of a Celtic warrior intent on bringing her back to his village whether she likes it or not.Taranc was a leader of his people before he was taken captive by Viking raiders, and now that he is a free man once more he has no intention of allowing a headstrong Norse woman to slow down his journey home with her stubborn disobedience. When Brynhild refuses to do as she is told, he wastes no time in baring her bottom for a thorough switching, and he makes it quite clear that she can expect even more painful and humiliating punishments if she continues to defy him.Though her hatred of the Celts runs deep, Taranc's stern dominance awakens desires in Brynhild that she thought she would never feel again, and when he takes her in his arms and claims her properly it is more pleasurable than she would have thought possible. But though her passion for him grows by the day, can she ever truly love a man whose people are enemies of her own?Publisher's Her Celtic Captor is a stand-alone sequel to Her Rogue Viking and Her Dark Viking. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Until 2010, Ashe was a director of a regeneration company before deciding there had to be more to life and leaving to pursue a lifetime goal of self-employment.
Ashe has been an avid reader of erotic romance for many years—historical, contemporary, fantasy—you name it. Now, at last in control of her own time and working from her home in rural West Yorkshire, she has been able to realise her dream of writing sexy and compelling stories herself.
She draws on settings and anecdotes from her previous and current experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters, but her stories of love, challenge, resilience and compassion are the conjurings of her own imagination. She loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard time—in every sense of the word.
When she’s not writing, Ashe’s time is monopolised by her role as grandma to a lively toddler. She shares her writing space with a tortoise called Teefer.
Ms. Barker is yet another in a long, long, long list of authors whose "heroes" punish their women for very reasonably objecting to being conquered, kidnapped, and enslaved. "How dare you try to escape when I'm trying to enslave you" is pretty much how this goes.
What a great book. This was amazing. This book was so well-written and as accurately done as possible. I love historical romance and this was wonderful. This is the first book by Ashe Barker but most defiantly will not be the last.
This is Brynhild and Taranc's story. Hilde is the Viking sister of Ulfric who has taken the Celts including the chieftain Taranc and Fiona hostage to be their slaves. But Ulfirc falls in love with Fiona and Hilde is not having it. See she hates Celts all of them and most are not aware why. It may be irrational but not to her and I can understand why. But she is taking out her hate on Fiona and her brother will not have it. So he makes a deal with Taranc. I will not go into it but let’s say she will be mad when she figures it out. But soon she learns to live with it till the Vikings return. Let's hope this time it won't lead to more pain she has had enough.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do, they value your opinions too.
5.0 out of 5 starsCaptivating ByDonna Lon August 18, 2017 Format: Kindle Edition I was looking forward to this third book in this series and was not disappointed.Ms Barker is a fabulous storyteller, this story was told in such detail that you feel that you are on the journey with the characters.I was entranced right until the end and wanted more. This is Taranc and Brynhild story.Taranc is a proud Celt captured by Vikings on a raid in his village.Brynhild Freyson is the sister of a Viking chief, she has a hatred of the Celts. She finds herself at the mercy of Taranc, after her brother Ulfric is fed up with her cruelty towards Fiona.Taranc was the proud chief of his village before being captured by Vikings,he was given his freedom by Ulfric but with certain conditions.Brynhild has a secret that makes her feel worthless and unlovable. She is quick tempered and impulsive and finds herself the subject to painful punishments as Taranc tries to tame her.All the books in this series have captivating and engaging characters with well crafted storylines. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
After the the first two books in the series I didn't think the author could possibly turn Brynhild into a likeable character. Although we got glimpses of a slightly more likeable character in Her Dark Viking, she still just didn't seem like lead character material. Yet with a few glimpses from her past, Brynhild's character became a character I wanted to see succeed. Taranac was much the same, although he was never unlikeable he seemed somewhat bland. Yet with this book he was bland no more, suddenly he was the alpha male Brynhild desperately needed.
This third book in the series is definitely worth reading. Even if you haven't followed the series it would work really well as a standalone. Now I'm hoping the author conjures up a long lost Freysson sibling so the series doesn't have to end.
I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.
I enjoy Ashe Barker's books, and 'Her Celtic Captor' is a prime example. Taranc, a Celtic chieftain, and Brynhild, a Viking Jarl's sister, were amazing. Even the side characters in the story had 3D personalities that made this tale come to life. There is so much passion, emotion, and personal growth amongst her characters it was like watching everything happen in front of my eyes. I see where other reviews have mentioned this being book two of a series but I didn't see book one when I went looking. That being said, there weren't any situations that lacked information about something that happened in book one. The entire story is cohesive, concise, and wonderful.
This is a good companion novel to the 1st book in the series. I felt there was a little to much overlap though and that is why I gave it only 4 stars. It answered and gave an explanation to a lot of the scenes from the first book or gave an explanation for why they happened from Brynhild's perspective. I really liked this book and learning more of Taranc as well.
A very hot sexy Viking romance. I really enjoyed this story. Ms. Barker is not only a great storyteller, her characters are likable and well developed. The twist at the end was so well done, that I did not see it coming. Fabulous series, don’t miss any of them.
At first the story is a little slow. Probably because parts were repeating from book one, just in a different perspective. Throughout this series I really liked the characters. This book is steamy, so not for those looking for a sweet romance.
I read this one in a day I a few hours a page turner for sure I’m have to give it a rest because I’m losing weight can’t even eat proper cause I want to read l love your work May Yahweh continue to bless you and success is yours for the asking. 3 stars (4 stars if you enjoy these authors: Kate Pearce, Jess Michaels,Ashe Barker).
You get plenty of sexual content (if that’s your main goal for reading this book, totally recommend you read on...no judgment obviously since I read it).
I found the movement of the book ‘choppy at times’ especially around the story telling overall.
It lacks the excitement and well roundness of my personal markers for a great read throughout the book. I have no problem reading authors I deem 3 stars (3.5).
This book is worth a read but didn’t really have me excited about interacting with the book where I could not put it down (skimmed through parts of the book).
There was a lack of development and sometimes interest in main characters, again still enjoyed the charterers overall.
I also enjoy secondary characters and there were a few moments in the book.
There’s enough info provided that readers MAY be interested in reading past books and the upcoming book.
There were a handful of humorous scenes but nothing that stuck out.
Read this book once and that is enough for me.
I wouldn’t cross the author out of my potential reads in the future.
