From New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Catherine Bybee comes the sixth novel in the warm and witty Not Quite series.

No one drives in New York City. Everyone knows that, including California transplant Rachel Price. But that doesn’t stop her from driving into the city. From Connecticut. Every single morning. Rain or shine…or snow.

When she runs the charismatic and good-looking Jason Fairchild off the road, their immediate spark is met with bad timing. There is also one tiny little Jason is her boss. And a woman as intelligent and dedicated to her career as Rachel knows not to date her boss.

As CEO of a private jet company, Jason Fairchild is more used to flying than driving. But if he hadn’t chosen to drive home one night, he wouldn’t have met the slowest—and most irresistible—driver in the entire metro area. Jason has never had time for love. Or dating. Or really anything that doesn’t involve work. But when he finds out that Rachel is the newest superstar in his marketing department, he can’t help wondering if fate has other plans…

Such a sweet and touching story!
Loved it!

The book is not extreme heavy on romance/sex, more on the family values and love.

Amazing heroine. She raised the son of her deceased friend and loved the boy as her own. I respected and adored her for her kindness, strength and humanity. I cried when I read flashbacks about h’s friend/boy’s mother – heartbreaking, but at the same time beautiful.

I liked Owen/h’s adopted son, but he did some silly things at the end; ok, he was only 15, so let it go *lol*

Drama-lama with boy’s grandparents was played nice. No unnecessary OTT factor, IMO.

The hero. Liked him a lot. Good man, not a womanizer (thank you, Book-God!), strong and caring. His relationship with the boy was very touching. I loved how he pursued the heroine and how he accepted her son – great man!!!

The romance was amazing, but not enough (never enough *lol*). They met, flirted and then she found out he was her boss – not my favorite trope, but it was done well – no complains. As I mentioned, the main storyline was more about heroine’s son, at least in my eyes, so the romantic part was cut a bit short. But it was still very enjoyable.

"If I made a habit of sleeping with my secretarial assistants, perhaps you’d have a point. Not only have I never done that, I’ve never introduced a woman as a girlfriend. I will accept some noise over the situation, but I expect a certain degree of respect. Neither of us deserves any less."

I read all books in this series, but I can’t remember much about the previous characters. It didn’t bother me. So I’d say – you can read it as a standalone.

Amazing epilogue. But I still wanted more!!!

I would recommend this one ;-)

4 Not at all Crazy Stars

“I’m just a guy, falling for a girl.”
“Jason.” How could he say that?
“And you’re just a girl, falling for a guy.”
“You make it sound so easy.”
“It doesn’t have to be complicated.” But it was, and they both knew it.

Recently relocated California girl Rachel Price knew she’d have to deal with New York’s City’s winter weather eventually, she was just hoping that day was waaaaay off in the future. When a snow storm surprises Rachel at work, she eschews all rational advice and decides to make the trip to her home outside of the City via her car, rather than the super cool train setup the locals keep raving about.

Jason Fairchild is more accustomed to commuting via helicopter than by car, but that doesn’t mean he can’t handle himself on a snowy road when necessary. Just as he’s about to pass the slowest driver in history, his Audi manages to slide off the road.

Thus begins the sweetness that IS Rachel and Jason.

There’s a whole lot to like about this book so I’m going to start with the good stuff. Jason has got to be the sweetest, most down to earth billionaire ever put down on paper. I mean EVAH! The man almost seems too good to be true but luckily he falls short of straddling that line of perfect and so perfect it's downright annoying. That’s a pretty fine line for me so I enjoyed a hero that didn’t seem to have any of the jackass-like tendencies I’m used to encountering when it comes to wealthy heroes as of late, but wasn’t in any danger of making me throw something in annoyance either.

Rachel proved herself to be a character I was rooting for from the very beginning. What kind of single woman rearranges her entire life for sake of her best friend’s orphaned fifteen year old son? Not many I’ve come across, but Rachel did just that and so much more. Both Rachel and Jason’s relationship with Owen was one of my favorite aspects of the story.

I also appreciated Rachel’s hesitancy in getting involved with Jason, who as it happens also turns out to be her boss. Jason knew from the moment he met Rachel that he wanted to get to know her better, even after he discovers she’s his employee, but Rachel took things a little slower. No TSTL here, she knows what normally happens when a relationship between employee and employer comes to an end and she has no desire to experience it for herself.

On the other hand, once Rachel decides to start something with Jason, she's in it for the long haul. No second guessing herself or bothering to care what others around her think. Coworkers questioning her relationship with the boss? Who gives a damn!

Not much about this book bothered me, but I could’ve used a little more drama somewhere in the story. I love the fact that most of the dramatic stuff happens outside of the relationship between Jason and Rachel (finally adults acting like adults, people!) but a little more action elsewhere, or amping up of other storylines, might’ve added to parts of the story.

Bottom line, I thoroughly enjoyed Not Quite Crazy and can definitely recommend it to those looking for a fun contemporary romance without a lot of extra drama. Jason and Rachel’s story is part of a series but I had no problem reading it as a stand-alone.

This is more of a quiet romance - it has much less sex than a lot of romances that I read these days. It's more wholesome but it does have a few sexy scenes. But, I really enjoyed this one. It was nice to have a romance novel focus on the relationships among people instead of just the chemistry among people. I loved the story itself. Apparently, this is the 6th in a series but I didn't feel like I missed anything by coming in at book 6. I am interested in going back and reading the previous novels.

This is such a nice, sweet story about love - family, romantic and otherwise. Very solid story. Great characters that I really enjoyed. I definitely recommend this one!

Update on 3/28/19: After the controversy that is now going on around this author and her comments ... I am re-evaluating my rating. Although I liked this book on my first read, I went back and looked at some of it again and I am so angry at myself that I missed so much of the extremely racist and unsettling content. I definitely have to say ... my white privilege is showing MAJORLY and I'm so upset that I didn't even recognize it until it was pointed out to me. I ignored (or didn't even notice) what is obviously problematic. Add in her recent comments and I'm unable to support her any longer. Yikes. Moving this from my original 4 stars rating to a 1 star. I just CANNOT recommend it any longer. I'm sorry that I led you wrong in my original review. I promise to do better and keep working to identify my white privilege to avoid this sort of situation in the future.

I loved this! Rachel and Jason made a great couple! Kudos to the author for writing a successful, attractive and smart hero that isn't a manwhore! It is possible for a man to be rich, sexy and fly his own helicopter without subjecting himself to diseases by having sex with any woman that looks at him! I really enjoyed this and was sad when I finished it!

4 Love's Complications Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Life happens and when we are challenged to step up, hopefully we do what our hearts tell us to do. In Not Quite Crazy by Catherine Bybee, Rachel Price does exactly that. When her best friend had her son, she was there. When the father never stepped up or any other of his relatives show any interest, she was there.

Rachel was also there when her friend was stricken with cancer, held her and son's hands for support and then buried her.
Rachel is all the son has known and now... out of the blue, the father's parents want to take over. Rachel and Owen both love each other, are family and Rachel makes a critical decision. She will give up their current lives and move closer to the grandparents as a way to preempt a possible custody fight.

This brings these California transplants to Connecticut. There, it is close enough to commute to Rachel's new marketing position yet also gives 15 year old Owen a more homey atmosphere. All of this should be a difficult but in the end ok adjustment...

But there is one thing Rachel just does not want to deal with...NYC subways. Rachel has no desire to use them so she has been driving every single day into work. Never mind she needs to leave hours earlier than necessary. Never mind it is now winter, it is snowing and she has no idea how to drive in this weather...

And it is her determination that causes her to slowly keep moving towards her home one snowy night with very little viability and then it happens...

Jason Fairchild rarely drives home but for some reason, he did this night. As the CEO of a private jet company, transportation issues are never a thing for him...Except when he crosses paths with Rachel on the same Connecticut road. He somehow talks his way into having a ride to Rachel's home so he can use her phone... yes ,issues with moble phones etc.

There is hesitation with Rachel but her gut and naivete decides this is a man who is trustworthy. There at her home with Owen acting the Alpha Man, Jason was only there for a short time. Both are left with budding warm feelings for each other.

Things become very complicated when Rachel is brought into a major company meeting at her new position. There sitting at the head of the table is Jason! Oh, no... She needs to be careful and not follow up on any feelings that started to brew.

But Jason keeps being around and then is helping Owen through a tough emotional time. Before the both of them know it...they are becoming more than friends. And that means their lives become complicated.

I happened to really enjoy this read. Yes, it had the forbidden boss romance thing happening... but for me, that wasn't the draw. It was the development of true relationships. Jason's with Rachel and Jason's with Owen. Those were the important elements to the tale.

There was chemistry from the start. The appreciation of what a strong woman Rachel was played a huge part. She had the love for her friend and Owen. It was always in the forefront of all her actions. She also tried to balance the employee/boss thing.

This story was crafted well and was a positive read. This is part of long time Bybee series, yet I never felt I need to read the earlier books.

This is sixth in a romance series where many of the previous couples play important roles in this book. I recommend reading them in order, though at least you have this one to look forward to as I think it's the best in the series.

I could be wrong about that, though, because there are large gaps in my reading them all and I barely remembered some of the couples as they showed up here. I'm trusting my ratings and how much I enjoyed this one to claim it is the best.

I loved Rachel a lot. She's tough, doing her best to raise her best friend's child after the best friend succumbed to cancer. Her relationship with Owen was outstanding and I liked their interactions, particularly their shared grief and that they were leaning on each other for strength. And I particularly liked that she was kind in her evaluation of others. This pattern was set in the first meeting with Jason and continued throughout. Many authors would have put an entirely different emotional landscape on that initial interaction, defaulting to anger or fright and I loved that Rachel was generous and even-keeled.

And Jason was a fun protagonist in his own way. And can I say how happy I am that Bybee didn't make him the stereotypical playboy CEO who runs through women like water? He's busy with his company and has been doing his best for his brothers (the other couples in the series) so being bowled over by Rachel was a new pace for him. And I love that he embraced that new pace and fell stupidly in love way faster than he could have planned or found comfortable.

Some of Rachel's objections based on workplace romance felt a little pro forma and that isn't helped by the resolution of those concerns. I was more than happy to let that slide, though, because I kind of hate how many authors lean into that as their primary conflict.

And I'll say how happy I am that Bybee skipped having a dark moment show up. I feared one was on its way because we had romantic mostly tension resolved and lots of book left. And while I'm not happy that the villains that do manifest are a bit cardboard, at least they let all our protagonists' best strengths shine forth.

I planned on giving this four stars but thinking it over, I can't really point to a reason to be so stingy. I liked all the characters. I liked the plot and story. This was a fun romance and I'm going to splurge and give it all five stars.

A note about Steamy: There are two explicit sex scenes, putting this on the low end of my steam tolerance. They were everything they needed to be and that's just bonus.

This book made giddy with happiness! I loved everything about it! No dealing with other women trying to ruin their relationship. There was drama but nothing unnecessary to the story. It was a slow burn love that started with an instant attraction. It was a bit of a fairytale love story but still very realistic.

I really shouldn't be surprised. I have loved everything I have read by Catherine Bybee and I don't know why I haven't binge read all of her books. Trust me, that is going to be something I fix and soon because I need more books like this in my life!

Rachel has packed up her life and moved to Manhattan with custody of her best friends 15 year old son. She's known Emily and Owen for ten years and when they found out Emily had cancer, there was no question that Rachel would be Owens guardian.

In an effort to appease Owens paternal grandparents, who have never shown interest in their grandson until his mother died, they moved from California to be closer to them as they get to know each other.

Driving in her first snow fall, Rachel inadvertently runs Jason into a ditch. Rachel invites Jason home with her while he waits for a tow and the sparks are instantaneous. What Rachel doesn't know is that Jason is the owner of Fairchild Charters where she was just hired in their marketing department.

Everything about these two was a treat to read about. I loved how they met. How Owen reacted when Rachel brought a stranger home, to how Jason inserted himself into their lives.

Jason was charming and a true gentlemen. Rachel was a caring and intelligent heroine. Owen brought an extra level to the story showing how Jason stepped up when both of them needed him. A truly great read! ARC provided by NetGalley.

I talked extensively about this book on Twitter.

https://twitter.com/JenRitas/status/1...

This is a profoundly harmful story. Rachel best friend recently died of cancer, and asks Rachel to take custody of her 15 year old son, Owen. To be closer to Owen's paternal grandparents, they move to CT. Rachel is a white woman, Owen is black, and the entire book focuses on the fight to keep Owen's paternal grandparents from taking custody of him.

This is steeped in deeply harmful racist tropes of every kind, and I'm guessing that the author didn't see this because the grandparents are rich. Having this boy taken from his actual family and demonized for wanting him is heartbreaking to read.

Actively harmful and hurtful.

After Rachel’s best friend dies and leaves her to raise her son, she makes the move from sunny California to the Big Apple just in time for winter. Determined to make the hour long drive into Manhattan each day for her new job, she’s sure she’ll get the hang of driving on the ice and snow. That is until she has a near accident and the other car careens into a ditch. With an offer to help the driver, Jason, she feels an instant attraction, not realizing she’s crushing on her new boss.

Jason has been carrying the weight of his family’s business for years since his parents’ deaths. While his brothers have found their forever loves he’s stayed away from even wishing for such a thing. It doesn’t take but a few moments in the company of Rachel to know that he might have found it without even trying.

This is a relatively low angst read with some drama from the boss/employee angle and then even more due to Rachel’s responsibilities to her friend’s son, Owen. The relationship between this couple is sweet and flows naturally even if a bit quickly, which was fine by me. I like my hero and heroine to feel something immediately, even if they’re not sure what it is.

This was a very enjoyable read, fast paced, well written and included couples from what I assume were the previous books in the series. I will definitely be checking out those stories in the future.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and Montlake.

Ah Owen... Arkadaşının emaneti... On beşinde, harika bir çocuk. Yıllardır kendisiyle pek işi olmayan babası ve tarafı biraz canlarını sıkıyor. Velayet muhabbetleri felan...

It's been a while since the last Not Quite book, and I was happy to be reunited with so many familiar faces.

"That's crazy."
"Not quite crazy."
He Kissed the back of her hand. "Maybe a little crazy."

Who?

• Rachel had recently relocated from the west coast to the east coast. She was working hard to adjust to her new home, new job, and suddenly be the mom of a teenaged boy. Romance was the last thing on her mind.

• Jason was the oldest of the Fairchild clan, and due to his position in the family, had assumed the head role of the family company. He was hyper focused on the business as he tried to evade his sister-in-laws' efforts to find him a match.

What?

Inclement weather, a slippery road, and fate brought them together. There was an instant attraction, and it stirred the latent want buried deep inside both Jason and Rachel. But much to Rachel's dismay, she discovered that Jason was that Jason, the head of the company she worked for, and the two of them had to decide if an office romance was a risk they wanted to take.
The first decent guy to ask her out in forever just had to come with serious strings.

Why?

I am a solid fan of this series, and was really excited when I heard we were getting another book. The final Fairchild brother was a great choice for the hero. I adore the dynamic in this family, and I like that we can get those billionaire romance touches with such nice, down to earth guys.

Jason, like his brothers, has a wonderful sense of family. I liked this about the Fairchild men, and see it even more in Jason than I had in Glenn or Trent. Gosh! Jason was so swoony and all in from the first meeting. He just knew Rachel was special and really pulled out his A-game to win her over.

There were lots of family time, but I think some of my favorite family-centric scenes were the ones between Jason and Owen, Rachel's "son". I really appreciated the bond that Bybee created between those two, because, for me, it was so important that Jason foster some sort of relationship with Owen in order for his relationship with Rachel to work.

The sources of the drama in this book were interesting. I am not a fan of petty drama between the hero and heroine, so it worked for me that all the sources of drama in this book were really outside of the two.

As far as final books in a series go, we did get a whole bunch of cameos from past couples, and Bybee gave Jason and Rachel an ending that made me shed a few tears. I would have liked to have had an appearance from all our Not Quite couples, but I am not sure how that could have been done.
"Oh, God I love you. I'm so happy you ran me off the road last winter."

Overall
Another solid Not Quite romance filled with wonderful characters, a swoony romance, heartwarming family time, and an ending which left me in happy tears.

Having read all of the books in this series, I'm sad to see this series end! Each book featuring the Fairchild brothers can be read on their own. However, the books are so much better read in order as each wife joins in the matchmaking pursuits of the remaining Fairchild siblings. Jason might be the oldest of the Fairchild siblings but he is the last one to fall in love. However, once he sees Rachel he knows she is the one. Rachel is enjoying flirting with Jason until she discovers he is actually her new boss. But sometimes even the threat of losing your job just isn't quite enough to squelch the attraction.
Filled with great characters, Catherine Bybee has once again written a great story to go along with a great romance. You simply cannot go wrong when you pick up one of her books.

We come to the last book in Catherine Bybee’s Not Quite series and she has given us a wonderful heartwarming, amusing and entertaining story.
Rachel Price has done the ultimate thing for her best friend; she agrees to raise her friend’s teenage son after her death. Moving Owen and herself from California to Connecticut so that she can wave off a custody battle with the paternal grandparents of her ward, she gets a job in NY. It is a big adjustment for both. They have so much to contend with, a new house, and the controlling grandmother and Rachel’s new job. But one of the biggest adjustments is the cold snowy NY winters.
In her first snow storm Rachel helps out a stranger who has gone into the ditch because she was driving much to slow for the driver behind her to try to pass and he ended up in the ditch. Little did she know that the man she helped was no other than the CEO of the Fairfield Charters, the firm for whom she worked;. Jason Fairfield, and from the first moment he felt an instant attraction for Rachel, and she felt it too. When she learns who he really is she tries to shut it down but the sparks are just too hard to ignore.
But their relationship comes to ahead when Owen’s grandparents sue Rachel for custody of Owen after they accuse her of fleeing the country with him to keep him away from them. It puts Rachel’s job and her relationship on the line and she must do what she promised her best friend, to always do what was best for her son.
Rachel and Jason are two people who are really made for each other and right from the start the reader can feel this about them. Catherine Bybee takes us on a journey of love and respect and lets us know that in all the chaos of life, when the chips are down the people that we can count on….Family.
A great series from book 1 to book 6. Thank you Catherine for a wonderful series to read, and for sharing these wonderful, loving and passionate characters with us.

Another fantastic story from Catherine Bybee. I LOVE her Not Quite series! This author never lets me down. Her books always keep me turning the pages completely forgetting about the time that passes. NOT QUITE CRAZY features Jason, the oldest and last single Fairchild brother. His car going off the road into a ditch in a snowstorm turns out to be the luckiest day of his life. Jason meets Rachel Price and then her adopted son, Owen. Their chemistry is unmistakable and his pursuit of her not quite typical. He clenched the deal by helping out with her DIY home projects and befriending her son, Owen. Rachel is wary of the risks of dating her boss, but the handsome, sexy, kind and thoughtful Jason is hard to resist. As is Bybee's usual, there's a little danger involved before these two find their HEA, but this is what makes her books impossible to put down. Loved this one! 4.5 stars

Loved loved loved this story by Catherine Bybee!!!

It was a light and beautiful love story that takes a sneaky approach to love and hands it to you gently and with care. This story blossoms and bloomed and I really felt like a was a spectator to the characters lives. And I really loved that. Feeling like they are REAL people.

No arrogant asshole hero here. All gentleman with no OW BS! His honesty and devotion was beautiful. Jason won my heart when he befriended the heroine's stepson without hesitation. And the heroines generosity and love for her ward was commendable. I love a heroine who has a handle on her life. Rachel was beautifully written.

If you're looking for lots hot steamy sex, this book won't be your cuppa. But if you want a true romance with just enough drama and a fantastic HEA, this one's for you!!!

This is a family/romance book, the romance takes the 2nd place [don't worry, there are plenty of it] as the family part takes the spotlight. It is not the usual case of attractions at the first sight for Rachel, our leading lady but it is for Jason. Rachel is a committed single parent to her deceased best friend's son, Owen. As the romance part progress, her commitment towards Owen does not take a step back and Jason befriends Owen which has nothing to do with trying to get into Rachel's good side, he truly likes the kid. Loads of family drama, coming from Owen's paternal grandparents but eventually, everything comes to a perfect happily ever after ending.

Ever read a book or watched a movie that you wished you could do away with the antagonist or dump them into the middle of the river without a life jacket or boat? This is that book. The story is wonderful, irritating, infuriating and sexy. It will give you a roller coaster of emotions. Trigger, overbearing snotty, controlling, manipulative grandmother of the never present father.
I enjoyed this standalone book and recommend it to all who enjoy a good thumbing of the nose to antagonists and HEAs. Fun read.

For the final chapter in the NOT QUITE series, Bybee has taken us to Connecticut and NY by way of California.
When Rachel Price becomes the guardian to her best friend’s teenaged son after his mother’s death, to keep the peace with the boy’s paternal grandparents, she relocates to NY and a new job.
One snowy night traveling home, a car goes off the road and Rachel stops to help the driver. Sparks ignite between the two immediately. After a series of flirty encounters Rachel discovers her handsome stranger is really her new boss. In Rachel’s mind pleasure and work never mix.
Or do they…
With her emotions mounting for a man she shouldn’t be involved with and her ward Owen refusing to see his grandparents, it’s just a matter of time before everything implodes and Rachel’s job and reputation is laid bare.
A plane crash, a custodial court battle, and a runaway teen all add to heighten the stakes between Rachel and Jason Fairchild’s relationship.
4 stars for this fine ending to a good series for ByBee.
I was given an arc from Netgalley for an honest opinion of this book.

If you liked the Kevin Costner/Octavia Butler movie Black or White but thought that the black family members in the movie were handled too sympathetically this is the book for you. There is a lot of focus on the fact that the heroine in the book, Rachel, is white, and that the teenager she has custody of (her recently passed away best friend's son), Owen, is biracial. The grandparents are one-note villains who think the heroine isn't fit to raise him because she's white so want to take custody and are willing to lie to do so. Weirdly while his white mother was alive and raising him they had no problem with that. This change of heart is never explained. There is no nuance in this book. The majority of this book, even more in the forefront of the plot than the romance, is dealing with the grandparents and the fight to keep custody. It seems like this was meant to be a book about how family transcends race or even biology, but, once again, there is no nuance, no detailed look at both sides of the issue.

The romance really seemed to take a backseat to the family drama. The hero, Jason, turns out to be the owner of the business the heroine works for, although not direct supervisor he's her boss's boss and there is still a huge imbalance of power. I don't have a problem with that in general and have read many books where I enjoy the boss/employee trope. In this one, the hero never seems to give the heroine's worries about his position any consideration. He kisses her at the office right after she tells him they can't date. This doesn't come off as completely creepy since they did meet, flirt, and arrange a first date before she finds out he is actually the owner of the company (it's a new job and she only knew his first name), but I still felt it should have been handled a little more delicately. The relationship goes from flirting to falling in love rather fast without showing enough development for my liking. I also had a problem with the way a point is specifically made to show how Jason's family is just so much nicer and more welcoming in comparison to Owne's snobby, uptight grandparent and family other than his father. This may seem picky to people who haven't read the book, but the way the author keeps bringing up race makes it feel significant.

I'm not sure why I stuck with this book. Maybe because I've read the whole series and usually enjoy this author's books. Maybe because I kept thinking it would redeem itself to some degree. Maybe because I was listening to it on audio while doing housework and didn't want to make the effort to download a different one to listen to. I'm also not sure why I can't quite bring myself to give it a one-star versus two-star rating. Maybe I just want to be nicer to an author I've enjoyed so many books by? Maybe because there's never one moment that is just outright offensive, just a general uncomfortableness with the way the issues in the book are or, more accurately, aren't handled? Maybe because I'm afraid I'm reading too much into a book that was obviously meant to be fluff, but in that case I would argue that this type of complex issue didn't belong in that type of book. I don't know, but I did want to write this review to help people who would be turned off by the things I had problems with avoid it.

I’ve read 20 of Catherine Bybee’s books and I’ve loved every one of them, well there were two that were 3 stars but all the rest were 4 and 5 stars (mostly 5.) This is the book 6 in the Not Quite series and I was so excited to get it. (I loved The Weekday Brides, too.)

I liked how Rachel insisted on not dating Jason when she found out he was her boss and he refused to listen. And I liked Owen, Rachel’s deceased best friend’s son that Rachel promised to take care of. He’s 15 and a hell of a nice kid. He and Jason hit it off right away so Jason didn’t mind using Owen as an excuse to spend time with Rachel.

Rachel had to move Owen from California to New York to be near Owen’s grandparents, to keep them from suing for custody. The grandparents were wealthy and Rachel is not and she was afraid of losing to them since Owen is black. All she wanted was to do as her friend asked and finishing raising Owen. She did love Owen like he was her own son and Owen never shied away from letting Rachel know how much he loved her. One reviewer said she didn’t like all that went on with the custody hearing but I did. It added something different to the story rather than having an all angsty romance.

There was explicit sex in this and the F-bomb was used 5 times.

As to the narration: Amy McFadden did a fantastic job on the voices and read with awesome emotions.

I adore this author and I adore this series. I’ll read anything Bybee writes ❤️ Love that these books are available on Kindle Unlimited!

UPDATE 3/28/19:

I’m looking at this story and author in a different light now after the Twitter thread by @jenreadsromance about problematic material within and issues surrounding its RITA nomination. I appreciate her work educating me on recognizing racism in the books I read.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
For my review, I will not restate the plot since you can read the description on the jacket, nor will I post any spoilers.
I have read several books by Catherine Bybee, but I have to say this has been my favorite thus far. The H and h are strong characters and their story is wellwritten. There are hints that there are books preceding this one which pertain to other characters in this one. This is a stand-alone book and does not require reading the previous novels.
There is romance, some strong language and a few f-bombs as well as some sex scenes. However, the sex scenes are not explicit, although anatomical names of certain body parts are used. There is drama based on family interactions. But this book is a love story in the truest sense. Thank you, Catherine Bybee. A 5 star read.
