She Got It Bad for a Heartless Gangsta
Ever since Draylah Omari was sixteen years old, it seemed like life had only dealt her a bad hand. Tragedies and betrayal have taken the people she loved most, including her best friend of over a decade, Glory. I'm not rating this book[EDIT: I did rate this book cause it makes more sense to contribute a poor ratings amidst the crazy amount of 5 stars which STILL baffle me] or even acknowledging it as something to put on my Read shelf. This book was bad. Not only badly written but dangerous in the way it portrayed extremely toxic violent men as...romantic?? I think she thought it was romantic??? Idk how you can break a bunnies neck, break a mans neck in FRONT of your love interest all because he was there, force a woman to have an abortion and just generally and constantly disrespect women for the absolute glee of it and still be deemed an acceptable and interesting romantic male lead.
Your male characters pros have to outweigh their cons and this just doesn't. It's not the fact that he sees Draylah as 'his woman' that makes him "respect" her it's the fact he sees her as property which is just fucking bonkers. Nothing about these male love interest tell me they see women as equal intelligent beings and that's just..idk what the author was thinking I can not stress enough how awful this is and it blows my mind 323 people gave this a 5 star review!! The blatant disrespect for women is so distinct I'm trying to figure out of if that's the type of men the author has in her life or what she thinks the reader wants to read? Or maybe she just has an internalized and powerful hate for other women?? It's like she's get her own glee in tearing them down as well. Too many times was the male character just disrespectful for no real reason other than to display his 'dominance'. A male character can be dominant without being a verbally and physically abusive asshole nothing about that is attractive. It's very telling about how we as a society view violence against women and it's incredibly sad, this was a hard read.

I listened to it on my audiobook and the characters brought the book to life. I love how the streets references in the book I know since I live in the same area. Ms. Shvonne Latrice gets better and better with each new release. I never know quite what to expect and yet I know that when I get to the last page that the time that I spent reading her books will be well worth the ride. These characters though. Ricky AK and Drayla in many ways are just made for each other. She makes him want to do better and be better and yet he is still just as coo-coo for cocoa puffs as ever. I think I laughed a solid 5 minutes when those two fools stapled each other's ears. I just couldn't even begin to fathom dealing with someone that nuts. What I really like about Drayla is her no-nonsense attitude and the fact that she knows her worth. I love the fact that she isn't willing to sit and wait for the next dude to come along to improve her situation. The fact that she was willing to work hard to achieve her dreams was refreshing.She didn't allow her past circumstances to determine the path that she chose for her future. She acknowledged her pain and the hard times that she had to endure but in the end she carried on the best way that she knew how all without losing herself or her dignity. Ricky actually wanting to see her do well and make something of herself while he helped to support her dreams was also something that I enjoyed reading. Now, on the other hand, this dude was ENTIRELY TEW MURCH!!! LOL. He scared the bejeezus out of me a few times and I really wanted to just shout out to Drayla to RUN!!(thank goodness this is just fiction LMBO) The ex- Luce was just a straight clown and Drayla's ex-best friend would have had hands put on her everytime she came into sight for the foul mess she pulled. Every character in the book had a level of depth that just made you want to know more and actually see where the story was going to proceed with everything that they had going on. Quamire and MG both had me wanting to see them get their happily ever after but they both have some issues to deal with before I see that actually happening. Bia I think is eventually going to get it together but not before the stuff that she is doing is actually exposed I think. At the end of the day Ms. Latrice hit another homerun and I'm screaming LOUD for everyone to go out and get this book. She brings a refreshing twist to this tale but I must say that I will return again and again as long as Ms. Latrice continues to deliver 5-star reads of this caliber. GREAT JOB!!!

Must read!!
This series just keeps getting better. Qamar definitely hit his rock bottom. Hopefully he can get it together for his son. Ricky AK is still bae. I love he and Draylah's relationship. I'm loving Frisk and Virginia as well. I can't wait to see how everything wraps up in part 4! This book keeps your attention throughout.

Satisfied Reader
The characters in this book are indeed one of a kind. Ricky AK is heartless and don't care what comes out his mouth. I don't see how Draylah puts up with him I would've been left. His mouth is too reckless. Qamar needs rehab and Bia. She is the one for him and not Switch. She's a good girl with a great heart and he don't see it. He just wants what's between her legs. Kattlyn was so wrong for what she did to MG. I hope she get a taste of her own medicine. You don't hurt ppl was there to help. Now that some truth had come out how will Draylah handle it

The book had potential to be 5 stars but there is some character that are page filler.. kattlyn is not irrelevant in this book.
You have Draylah starting off as this strong woman after she lost her man and baby at young age. Bia meets Ricky AK and completely become this weak female character. MG is definitely a slow burn.
Qamar is cokehead rapper, MG is gullible engineer with whore as a baby momma.
Only reading this book because they said they like AK more than Wacko.
AK is toxic and psycho but Wacko is funny af.

Ricky got the Cray Cray
Ricky AK is definitely heartless and a Gangsta. Ms. Latrice has a gift for flow and words. The way she builds up characters is bomb. Loved Ricky AK he was unhinged from go and I love that frantic energy. The only reason this is a 4 over a 5 is because the story involves 3 sets of couples. We start string with Ricky and Dray but it starts to morph into side romances with Bia and even MG. Honestly, those weren't the tropes or arcs I wanted. I just cared about Ricky. That's a personal preference but the story was exciting, raunchy and hot.

That news just really shocked me to the core, it's just crazy that the detective is his father but also want to put him away in jail but I know it's a reason for everything he's doing and I'm ready to find out. I am soooooooo glad Bia left Qamar alone, since the beginning I knew he wasn't right for her, and like everyone keep saying he needs to grow up and be a man because he's nothing but a big a** kid #TeamKito. I feel bad that Kattlyn lost the baby and glad that MG was their to rescue her before it's too late but why I think this Nolan cat somewhat have a chance if so MG not gone he happy. Yoooooo!!!! This book is WILD!!!! Ricky is crazy! Like real deal crazy!! Locking a girl in the basement and forgetting about her, snapping a random guys neck because he thought the guy was with the girl he wanted, sneaking abortion pills to a girl he was sleeping with…the list goes on. Whew chile…it’s not 5 stars because I listened on audible and the narrator’s voices don’t fit for me.

One thing about Shvonne? She gone write an unhinged, reckless-mouthed, low-key rude, borderline sociopath male lead and somehow have me grinning like a damn fool. And Frederick “Ricky AK” Montana? Whew. He checks every single one of those boxes, and I’m eating it all the way up.
I love an honest man—brutally or not—and Ricky AK is exactly that. From the moment he laid eyes on Draylah Omari, he knew what he wanted and acted accordingly. Imagine showing up to a studio to deal with your ex, and the first person you run into is a whole superstar who doesn’t even blink before grabbing your waist and staring into your soul 😩. Then he turns around and tells said ex to go ahead and wrap it up, because he’s stepping in?! This man is WILD. And I am so here for the chaos. I already know we’ve only scratched the surface in Book 1. Because the minute he pulled that mess with Tabitha… yeah, Draylah ain’t gonna be playing!
Now let’s talk Bia and Qamar… 😮💨 deep sigh. If Ricky and Dray are healthy toxic, these two are just straight up destructive. I really don’t know how to feel about Qamar. That man is a walking red flag parade. The coke use? The disrespect? And the way he acted at that video shoot? Yeah, I would’ve been done. And Bia? Whew, she’s doing the best she can with what she’s got, but baby… the bar is in hell.
Then we have Micah and Kattlyn—and this situation is just screaming “this ain’t gonna end well.” First of all, Micah’s been in a long-term relationship with his baby mama, Isla, and even though he’s been swearing up and down she’s cheating, he ain’t got a lick of proof. So what does he do while they’re on a “break”? He ends up sleeping with Kattlyn. And what does her little fast self do? Steals from him while he’s knocked out. Ma’am?! You work for Dray… and you know Micah and Ricky are cool. Like, girl—what were you thinking? This is the kind of mess that blows up in flames, and when it does? Whew, it’s gon’ be nasty.

Wow, I just hit the lottery (I hope) with another hit series. I know this is only book 1, and I could be wrong, but I am going to hope and pray that I am not wrong and I did get me another hit series to read.
Frederick "Ricky AK" is just wow... Bae wow and speechless wow but still make you want to have your own AK. Handsome, ruthless, thug, alpha, badass, crazy, deranged but so honest and so open that he sounds scary most of the times.
Drayla well she is crazy, super crazy, strong, intelligent, independent, knows what she wants and knows what she is worth. She is good so far for AK.
Qamar, well don't know yet.m he seems to be as ruthless as AK but more assholish than him. He is cold, sexy, selfish but with a lot of issues. Boss man and alpha in his right or his life and intelligent as well but making stupid decisions.
Bia, well she got some issues too but mainly she just have a lot of pride and a lot of resentment but the way she is going at it, it's so wrong and so fucked up that she is going to end up very messed up.
Michah "MG" sounds like a sweetheart and the most nicest of them all. He seems respectful, knows what he wants and does not want to stray but it's like he has no choice. His own boss in his right, alpha in his life and yet a gentlemen and an overall nice guy.
Kattlyn, man why, why must there be one like that. She sound cute, sexy and nice but why must she be acting like that, so gullible, scared, yet she is intelligent but it seems she is just enjoying her misery. "Misery does love company" and that's her.
Now, tabatha, Lacie, This Audrey chick (who me we have heard of her name and nothing more), Switch, Lue, and Isla are all disposable items and I do hope that they get everything that they would deserve

Shvonne did her thing! I loved this book. Tabitha is one dumb chick. She should have moved on with her life, but she was dumb behind a man that treated her extremely bad!!! I loved Ricky but he was one crazy dude! He met his match dealing with Draylah. She kept him on his toes and brought out a side of him that I don't believe anyone knew he had. I loved both Draylah and Bia. Draylah went through some things in the beginning that will bring plenty to tears. Her ex Lue was something else. He was a straight up punk!!! I didn't agree with the things Bia chose to do but she had to do what she had to get by. Kattlyn was something else. I didn't know what to expect when it came to her, but she chose to do some very dangerous things and better pray she doesn't mess with the wrong person. Glory was wrong for what she did and her actions proved that she wasn't a real friend. Qamar was something else. He had his moments where he was a cool dude but then other moments I couldn't stand him! I am so looking forward to book two because I don't see some moving forward, but I could be wrong. Only time will tell!!!

Omg..... Ricky wat have u done now man cuz if Draylah heard wat he was talking about it's going to be some smoke in the city. He already knows that she doesn't play n is just as crazy as he is. Draylah really turned Ricky out n he can't live without her lol. I really hope that Qamar n Bia get together cuz I think that they will make a great couple. He just needs to leave the drugs alone. I got a bad feeling that Switch is Qamar's father... I just hope that I'm wrong cuz I got a strong feeling that it's gonna come out n they gonna get busted together. I don't approve of Kattlyn doing MG like that especially since she works for Draylah. I can't believe that she robbed him like that cuz when he gets a hold on her it's gonna be crazy smh! apparently bird brained women find it attractive when a man disrespects everyone around him including you and treats you like property, curiosity truly killed the cat I don't even know why I'm reading such daft books,this author clearly hates women I literally had to check if it was a woman who wrote this book and I was so repulsed .What makes a man who calls women out of their name attractive??! why does this book have so many high ratings like are we reading the same thing like did you guys truly find that repulsive MC attractive? if you rate this book high do you by any chance have a degradation kink like you truly have to look within if you like this book,what is it with female exceptionalism whereby you are okay with a man degrading fellow women as long as its not you? as long as he treats you a little better than the other women you have now won a prize or what?all the pick me women reading and gobling up this shit I'm not surprised.

Good Read
Ricky AK and his crew are crazy. They treat women like crap but only because they let them. Draylah is getting treated a little better because she required respect from the beginning. Bia did also with Qaymar but her got issues. MG is the more respectful one but he loving someone who's not loving him back. It Almost make you see why the other guys act like they do. Now Draylah's assistant is troublesome and has baggage but it seems like she may be getting with MG but she's doing foul things that can get her killed. I wasn't feeling all the disrespect from Ricky in the beginning but these females allow it. He does some nice things after getting with Draylah but he's still off. I like that he's funny too. This took some getting used to but I'm loving the drama. On to Part 2.

Loved it
I love a good book where a man takes control but then I hate when he goes overboard with it. Ricky AK is somthimg else. This man does not care but I feel him when he says the women let him do whatever so he lost respect for them. How can a man have respect for you if you dont have none for yourself. Draylah got Ricky AK to love her and be with her. Now with a secret he wanted to keep what will she do? Will she leave or stay? Also Quamar has some things he needs to get control of. He actually could lose everything now but will he. How will he deal with the issues he has going on? Also what will MG do when he figures out what happened? Part 2 will be off the chain cause part 1 is real good. Love the different aspects that were in the book.

Another great series in the making and I loved every minute of it. This book was so very well written with plenty of drama, action, betrayal, deceit and mystery. Shvonne is a great storyteller and she's makes her characters come alive and they're so believable. She has visualizing the characters in the story as I read and I love it. Love the relationship and crazy chemistry between Draylah & Ricky AK and the supporting crazy characters. This book was amazing from beginning to end and the ending...OMG..Can't wait to see what unfolds in the next installment of this series. Awesome job Shvonne Latrice

What a cliffhanger!
Well you did it again! Girl you are a beast with the pen. You never disappoint and I can't wait till post two. AK was cold hearted but he loved Draylah and she loved him. I hope that baby was conceived before they hooked up, but the route he took was that of a cold hearted man. Kattlyn is asking to get her skull pulled back by jacking people for money like MG wouldn't realize his money was gone. Bia may be just what Qamar needs to realize he has issues maybe he is bipolar or suffers from depression but coke isn't the answer. I can't wait wait till the next book drops. Excellent job once again don't make his wait too long I'm on pins and needles!

Draylah went thru trauma in her young life. Two POS boyfriends were just trifling. North took advantage of a young Draylah. She’s also cray cray but not more crazy than Ricky AK. Now he’s a crazy MF. These women going crazy for this nicca and he crazy AF and treat them how they treat themselves.
Now Bia and Kattlyn, I hope they get it together because they both doing questionable things to make ends meet and that makes me sad!
So far I’m not feeling Qamar and MG. Qamar needs help since he is not aware he’s depressed and need therapy. He’s going down a slippery slope and hope he gets help soon.
The end had ROTFL 🤣 and I’m waiting to see how AK will get out of this.

Shvonne Lattice, you never disappoint!!! This book was fiyah from start to end. I just love Ricky AK, he is so straight forward, you get what you see. I love Draylah for him, she made him work for it. They both crazy as hell, I was rolling when she cut him. Qamar just lost a good girl in Bia, I hope he makes it right. MG better get his head in the game, worrying about his baby momma. Kattlyn needs help, I was hoping her and MG could work it out, but not after what she did. I can't wait for part 2!!!

Drayla seems to continue to fall in love with these heartless gangsters but Ricky is truly the worst. However he loves her the most. Now I’m curious to know how will he explain this pocketing dialing that privi her to information he wanted to stay a secret. Now Bria will she bow down and except help from her dad so she and her sister can live a peaceful life and I can’t wait to see what happens when MG wake up to all his money gone.
