I loved the first book in this series so I'm glad the second book came out so quickly. This book takes a different course than the first, but the author manages to keep us interested and invested in the main character, Rand. In this book, It's fun to see Rand build relationships with some friendly characters especially since he was flanked by baddies in the last. It's also interesting to see what becomes of his love interest. This is a fun read that will keep you hooked to the last page! Enjoy!

In Book Two of The Alexandria Rising Chronicles, author Mark Wallace Maguire reintroduces his readers to Rand O’Neal, former Georgia newspaperman, kidnapped and plunged into a story of espionage, mystery, family, and friendship from which there is no return. This book, titled Alexandria Reborn, picks up O’Neal’s story following Book One’s destruction of The Organization’s Austrian stronghold and a supply of the other-worldly Slendoc Meridian stones. O’Neal now joins the forces of good, who enlighten him about his role in this ongoing story and why he is important to both sides, really. In Alexandria Reborn, we watch O’Neal come to terms with his new reality, growing into a personality that reminded me of Roger Moore’s smart-aleck version of James Bond except that we get to see what James Bond might have been like as he first stepped into his role as international spy – unsure, grasping for identity, head-swimming questions, and yet a good heart always bending toward doing the right thing. It’s not all spies and bombs for O’Neal, however, as a love interest is growing just beyond his reach with the mysterious Hope. Alexandria Reborn is a quick read – I read it in four hours – and it’s an entertaining story that will have the reader disappointed the book is finished and anticipating the next one as soon as possible.

I think this one was even better than the first!

Wow! Mark Maguire, I didn't want this book to end! I enjoyed the first, but this one had me on the edge of my seat. I laughed, I cried and may have chewed off a nail or two. I loved that Rand ate at Governors in Presque Isle :-) I also hope that Rand will have another adventure, as I'm not ready for his saga to end!

Total Attention Grabber

This terrific series grabbed me from the first paragraph of the first book, Alexandria Rising. It is obvious the author understands the importance of character. These are people you WANT to know. It is easy to feel as if you a real part of the plot. I can hardly wait to read part 3!!!!! I recommend this highly!!!

I really genuinely enjoyed this book all the way through. It's fun, exciting, and uplifting in so many ways I didn't expect from an action adventure. This series has been a welcome addition to my reading list this year.

Alexandria Reborn was a good follow up to the first book.

Filled with well written characters, both new and old, things happen to bring out the situation with both the characters and the stones.

Good sequel

Interesting follow up to first book. Still not impressed with main character, Rand. Too much drinking and juvenile behavior. Very abrupt ending so I hope there is a follow up.

Wonderful follow-up

Rand encounters a wide array of adventures in book 2. He is sometimes quick to adapt and sometimes not. Nice to read about a human facing challenges most of us can only imagine.

I did enjoy this book. I think it is a very good read, not too gory, not wordy at all, but descriptions were some one could picture in your mind while keeping up with the great characters.

A Sequel of Consequence

Sequels are tricky. Background information must be included - enough to remind readers of the first book of salient elements and enough to not mystify new readers. All this must be accomplished without bogging down. Not to worry.
The author grabs the reader from the first page and keeps Rand , the clever, smart- mouthed, likeable protagonist,
breathlessly caught up in events of enormous consequence to himself and an unknowing world until the not so bitter end. Rand is worried and mystified by the reappearance of Holly, the woman he loves but had accepted as killed by the villains. Neither he nor the reader bdiscovers the answer. (If we want to know, and I do, we must read the next book.) Short chapters, the author’s style, lend a staccato rhythm to the extremely active misadventures of our Rand.
