'Dustin' is the third book in Kathi S. Barton's "McCullough's Jamboree" series and it's just as fast-moving and intriguing as the first two! Dustin and his Dad are the two in the family who build, repair, and flip houses. Unfortunately, they had a real doofus on the crew who managed to hurt himself three times in three days. The third time is what wound up with him and Dustin in the ER to have his hand stitched up. Dustin was bored sitting there waiting on them to finish with his employee, so when he heard an elderly man telling a nurse he needed to see Dr. Mac and the nurse continued to rudely tell him he needed to fill out the paperwork first, even after he was reminded the gentleman couldn't read or write, Dustin stepped in to help. After filling out the paperwork for him with the given answers, they introduced themselves to each other and the gentleman informed Dustin that he should hope that Dr. Mac didn't recognize him as a McCullough because she and Hawk hated each other. Before he could answer they were called back and, as luck would have it, the Dr.'s reaction was swift. That's just the first intrigue that crops up in this storyline and there are several where this doctor, Hawk, and believe it or not, Lauren. There are twists and turns, intrigue, and a rollercoaster of emotions in this storyline that make it a quick intense read. I loved it and it just adds another dimension to the series.
Never a dull moment when it comes to one of Ms. Barton's stories, and this one is filled with some interesting twists. Mac is a brilliant doctor but she doesn't seem to have great luck when it comes to herself. Dustin was being kind to a homeless man and was not prepared for the hostility that radiated off his mate when they first met. When the past threatens their mating, it will take a walk down memory lane to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The drama in this storyline is very intense, the hostility jumps right of the page and even though the situation was not really funny I found myself smiling and laughing. As usual there is a lot of different things going on , the twists and turns are very distracting. ( just like planned I am sure). The storyline grabs you right from the start and you are drawn quickly in as the drama starts to unfold. The characters are awesome, easy to like and hate, it reads quickly and is easy to follow. The next story is set up at the end leaving you guessing and whining that you have to wait to see what happens. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.
MacKenzie "Mac" Gibson is a former Army doctor. She was forced out after a run in with Hawkins and Lauren. Now drifting, working filler shifts as an ER Doctor and surgeon, and supporting her special needs older brother. Dustin McCullough is a general contractor. He works with his dad flipping houses. Meets his mate when he brings an employee to the ER. Mac is terrified to learn she is mate to Dustin, because of his relationship to Hawk. Then learning Lauren is also part of the family, has her ready to run. Someone is trying to kill Mac. Lauren and Hawk try to make things right for Mac. Loved Mac and Dustin's story, fast paced and steamy. Looking forward to Larson and Virginia's story. Can't wait for Hawks!
This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the pages where secrets and fairytales live and dreams come true for those who believe!
This book was enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where you can experience everything with the characters and feel like you're right there with them living their lives right along side of them! Kathi S. Barton writes the most intriguing and riveting storylines that will change the way you select books that are out there to get! She sets the bar in excellence for readers to experience!
Dustin & his father flip houses for a living; one day one of their new workers had an accident & Dustin took him to the hospital wherein he met his mate.
Mackenzie used to be a doctor in the Army; but is now working at a hospital in Ohio. She knows & dislikes Dustin's brother Hawkins. She also has been beaten several times by men who knew (as she thought him dead) her ex-husband because she won't give them any drugs. She meets Dustin when she goes to help a friend of hers that came into the hospital.
This is the beginning of their story; this book was very good in the plot, the sex scenes & the family members helping out each other when they need it.
Mackenzie (Mac) has history with a McCullough. Well make that Hawkins McCullough and Lauren McCullough and it's not a good kind of history. Thanks to both of them she was given her walking papers from the Army earlier than planned. Now there's another McCullough in her ER room with her patient and she can't concentrate beyond her anger towards anyone with the McCullough last name. To make matters worse, he's claiming she's his mate!
Dustin is the youngest of the McCullough clan. While at the hospital with an employee he strikes up a conversation with an elderly gentleman and decides to stick with him through his examination. He never expected the doctor to be his mate... much less for her to have such hatred towards two of his family members.
Lauren and Hawkins have let too much time pass when they should have made things right with Mac. Now that she's a member of their family they will do whatever it takes to ensure she's safe from her random attackers and her ex-husband. It's not easy for Lauren to apologize, but she's woman enough to admit she was wrong and will make things right for everyone's sake.
