With words and story by the usually amazing James Robinson, who on this occasion maybe because of corporate Marvel's limitations(?) does not do enough to really create a captivating story; he's not helped by having so many different artists across the series. Magic is dead, so Wanda tours the magic places around the world investigating its demise and as a result and faces tough challenges, with the toughest challenge being her own past. This is still the best rendition of Wanda, probably ever, because for once she isn't the victim or foil to someone else's story. 6 out of 12
I read the Marvel Comic books Scarlet Witch #6-10

Scarlett Witch deals with a new threat in each of these stand alone issues while bemoaning that she should be looking into her real mother. Most of the issues consist of 2 people talking for each issue are very introspective. Outside of the Civil War II tie-in where she finally has it out with her brother, Pietro, I didn't find the issues very entertaining. I take that back, I did like The Wu. In fact I found her more interesting than Wanda. I liked how they had a different female creative team on each issue. If you like to read comics about conversations, this is the book for you.

In this second volume, Wanda continues her globe-spanning investigation into what is deeply wrong with witchcraft and magic. I'm enjoying this book; it's a nice change of pace from a lot of the rest of Marvel's output. The Civil War II crossover issue was pretty good, featuring a clash between Wanda and her fleet-footed brother Quicksilver, and didn't derail the ongoing plot.

The fact that there is a new artist with every issue makes the book feel a little disjointed but some of the artwork has been stunning, so I'm not going to grumble too much.

MUCH better than the previous volume. the art had improved so much, specially the first issue of this volume, which is the sixth issue. the story, also, was better structured, and the characters were well introduced, ESPECIALLY our Wanda. maybe the first volume had abandoned me with the hope of this series being Wanda's best, but this one just revived my enthusiasm. I personally enjoyed it.
I also liked that little foxy in the tenth issue *-*

Excellent! It is no secret that this series is honestly my favourite comic of the year; it truly is amazing! So if you don't already know, this series follows a different approach, as their is one overarching story, however each issue is its own one shot story, while still adding to the main story; similar to the story format of Samurai Jack, if you ever saw that cartoon(If you have not, what you doing with your life?)! The stories although one shots, are all absolutely well written and original; you don't know what's gonna happen each issue as its very unpredictable, so much so, are you sure this is a Marvel title? Because it has indie written all over it; in a good way! Some Stand out issues for me, was the first issue where Natasha goes to Paris, and teams up with Frances Superhero(Ya turns out they have one), and a civil war 2 tie in issue, which was actually very well done compared to most tie ins(However major spoiler warning for that issue, if you have not read Civil War 2!). Finally I'll touch on the artwork; this was my major gripe with the first volume, although I've come to appreciate it as I have read on. Basically each issue is a one shot story, which each have a different artist, so your gonna see new art every issue. The variety is better this time around, also I felt the artwork for each issue, fits with what that particular story is! Overall this an amazing series, that truly is unappreciated!

As I said about the first volume, this was one of those love-it or hate-it Marvel books. It's a very introspective and wandering volume, with the premise that magic is broken and maybe Wanda is broken and she sets up to fix it, fighting badness as she meets it along the way... and it never goes where you expect. Each story is nicely self-contained, and it's a true globe-spanning sequence. Even the cross-over piece where she meets Pietro worked pretty well. There's a different artist on each section, with different styles and different levels of success. I thought it was a fun, very interesting experiment... 'nuff said... Excelsior!

Not quite as boring as volume 1. The art is nice. Also Wanda isn’t a Mutant now?!

[Read as single issues]

I absolutely love what James Robinson is doing with this book. Every issue reveals a little something more about Wanda as a character, and magic as a whole, as she explores the world of witchcraft (hence the title) and solves magical crimes as she tries to get closer to the secret of her mother's identity and who has poisoned magic itself.

This is a very quiet, introspective book for the most part, with explosions of colour punctuating the battle scenes. There's always a lot to unpack in each issue, and Robinson weaves in and out of continuity with ease. I especially love the Civil War II tie-in issue that has Wanda and Pietro finally sitting down and talking properly, and it's everything I've wanted for a long time.

The fact that he gets a cadre of amazing artists to help out doesn't hurt either. There are issues here by Marguerite Sauvage, Annie Wu, Tula Lotay, Joelle Jones, and relative newcomer Kei Zama, which is an exceptional array of talent.

Scarlet Witch is a book I wish more people were reading so I could talk to them about it without feeling like I'm gushing. Because I will gush, if anyone asks me about it.

Robinson continues to weave together the various plot and character threads established in the first volume, and leading up to what we now know is the final volume of this series.

Look, I'll agree that many male writers do not know how to write female characters. Here, Robinson is doing a good job of further developing a character who previously had been a follower. Wanda is becoming her own woman, and the forced Civil War II issues really allows the reader to explore this as she has a verbal confrontation with her brother. She is becoming, arguably becomed, a woman who is strong in her convictions, will not be pushed around any longer, and is dealing with her mistakes of the past.

At the same time Robinson again does his bit of delving into past legacies and creating new supporting characters who are so much fun (I would read more of the Aoi Master and his cast).

Still enjoying a Robinson renaissance with this series.

Scarlet Witch: World of Witchcraft
By James Robinson (Writer) and a fuck ton of artists
Published by Marvel, 2016

Synopsis: Wanda Maximoff is continuing her journey to fix witchcraft and to fix herself

Review:
Again a episodic story with Wanda helping the Magic world with her experience. It suffers from the same problems of the first book as it does not have a central villain nor a central storyline. The thing closest to a story is Wanda looking for the truth about her mother. The way this book is written feels very disjointed. I could genuinely not tell you what happens in this book. The Civil War 2 tie-in is probably the best thing about this book. (Imagine that, something related to CW2 that is good)

Star Rating = 3 stars out of 5
Its alright but forgettable and that is a shame for a book.

I have to admit, I didn't feel so thrilled with this Scarlet Witch series, but the art finally captured me and I've finally become fascinated by the character. I hadn't enjoyed a Marvel comic as much as I'm enjoying this one in a really long time. I've never liked The Avengers or the Scarlet Witch, and this story has been a perfect way to discover her.

First of all I know this will be a surprise but I only gave this comic a 3 stars rating because I didn’t really felt it. Wanda is my all time favorite Marvel character but the story itself was a bit too “dark” for me, if I can call it that. Wanda is a very ambiguous and intriguing character but for some reason I didn’t feel like it with this story. There were still some very good parts, don’t get me wrong!!
.
However, I did love the illustrations ! I liked how lively they were and the fact that they really brought a new side of Wanda. In the Marvel movies her lineage isn’t such a big part but with this comic we learn some things about her family which is cool!!
.
So although this was a fun read, it wasn’t really my cup of tea! I still think Marvel fans should try it at least once:)

This was fantastic. A great supporting cast of characters with each comic introducing a new witch: Alice, Alauin, Maynard, Hiroshi, August. There's even a comic with Pietro and one with Dr Strange! It's got some gorgeous panels too. A vast improvement on #1, Witches Road.

I hoped this would be better than it was. But then I had already read two of the books collected here and so shouldn't be surprised.
There were probably reasons I dropped the title from my pull-list when it still ran and why it got canceled.

No jasna cholera. Wzbudzanie poczucia winy wobec Visiona? Nie ma sensu za grosz.

Dziewiąty zeszyt to równia pochyła. Tutaj nazywają to przynajmniej wprost związkiem przemocowym. I to też leniwe pisanie.

I read the first volume of this back in 2016, and in the interest of clearing the series off my tablet, I've decided to finally finish it now. Unfortunately it's just as mediocre and forgettable as the first volume was, in which Wanda Maximoff has a series of standalone adventures that are only VERY loosely connected by a vague plot thread of her wanting to find her real mother (she'll get around to it one of these days, right after another side adventure that has nothing to do with anything).

The problem with most of these one-shot stories is that they spend so much of the issue setting things up that the resolution comes fast and furious in the final few pages, feeling far too rushed and unsatisfying. I'd have preferred if author James Robinson had stretched some of these stories out a bit and given them room to breathe. Knowing that each story is going to be resolved in the next x number of pages gives each tale a degree of predictability that detracts from my ability to enjoy them. "Oh, only two pages left, she's about to get out of the trap--yep, oh wow, she defeated this villain rather suddenly..."

I'm surprised that this series got made, since I can't imagine Robinson's pitch involved anything more complicated than "Scarlet Witch travels around like Caine from Kung Fu and has adventures and helps random people". Robinson doesn't really have anything compelling or interesting to say here, and the tie-in issue for the truly awful Civil War 2 event--in which Wanda has it out with Pietro over a lifetime of crap she's put up with from--him really feels out of place and shoehorned into the story by editorial mandate.

The art in this volume is done by a variety of artists, and all of their work was pleasant enough to look at. Thankfully there was no bad art in this volume. But unless one is a die-hard fan of Scarlet Witch and just HAS to read all of her stories, I would not recommend this. I'm going to finish the series because there's only one volume to go and it's already sitting on my tablet.

I read this whole thing while sitting on the floor of a B&N and I have no a little shame.

I really enjoyed reading this. I love Wanda so much!! Every issue just made me get more attached to her - and more worried for her, but I'm trying to keep things positive here. And I was so happy that each issue felt like a complete story! I don't really like comic miniseries because they always seem so rushed, but this series manages to take a fifth of that length and make it the perfect length every time.

I do have a concern, though. It has to do with the whole thing. I really appreciate that this series is acknowledging and exploring Wanda's Roma heritage, but just like the last volume, this included nothing about Wanda being Jewish. I'm worried that they're going to use the above spoiler as an excuse to erase that part of her identity.

On a side note, can I take the end of issue...7, I think it was, as confirmation that Wanda is ? Because that would be pretty great.

2.75 stars. This volume was little better than the last one. These issues feel like one shots. They barely have a feeling of connectivity. She deals with a threat in each issue and they all flow the same. Most of the issue is Wanda talking with someone for the majority of the issue then defeating the threat easily in like one page. The stand out stuff was the Civil Way II tie where Wanda and her brother Quicksilver let it all hang out in a big argument and the stuff with The Wu. An OK volume. Hopefully the last book can go out on top.

There was certainly some decent art, but overall, this was very light on payoffs and plot.

The best issue involved Wanda talking to a shrink, and a close second was the Civil War 2 tie-in. That should give you a good idea of just how (not) exciting this book was. We were introduced to a kind of fun new character named The Wu... but she didn’t do a whole lot.

I was happy to be finished with this. I didn’t hate it, but I hardly enjoyed it. Very meh.

Episodic magic problems with different art each issue. The art is all gorgeous, the combo of Jones and Rosenberg is especially jaw-dropping.

Unfortunately the story didn't do much for me. It either covered magical people who only get that issue for development or features annoying event tie-in crap.

A very pretty pile of meh.

Huh, compared to the first volume that I actually hated because of ugly art and nonsensical story, this volume kind of ate.

It really sucks how this was done though, one author throughout the whole thing but the artist changes every single issue with different styles and it's just awful.

The story is okay like Wanda is going around fixing broken magic and helping people but also it's the most random shit ever that doesn't connect. There is a tiny bit of overarching plot where Wanda learns about her mother and wants to go back to her homeland as she believes the fix for the magic is there but then she keeps getting distracted with other things.

I love Wanda's portrayal in this. She's not a victim or being used by someone else; she's her own person with her own goals and stands up for herself. The issue where she tells Quicksilver off was great. She's so strong and doing her best. 🥺

The art was improved this issue at least!! None of them were ugly and they were downright gorgeous. Besides the first issue I liked how Wanda's costume stayed mostly the same too. (Seriously why did the first issue give her such a random ugly ass outfit?) Honestly most of the beef I have is with the first issue like what was with the naked girl smh.

So while I'm still so disappointed that this couldn't have been a cohesive story, I did have a good time reading this.

The Scarlet Witch continues her episodic series of encounters trying to help Magical situations where she can.

I think Robinson is falling into a good groove with this series, as it flows a lot better than the first volume. We see her helping different magical people in different countries/cities, and occupying her mind from her other issues.Speaking of other issues, those are approached a bit more head on this volume, with a chapter showing Wanda going to a therapist and having said therapist "lay it all out" for her. Turns out the therapist was a villain all along, but the point remains, he brought up some very interesting things about Wanda and her past in general. I think if Robinson can explore these things, the book will get really good.

The art is handled by several different artists, all who have their own style, and none who I would say is worse than the others. Each one was really good, and had a great style that fit in with either Wanda herself, or the tone of that particular story. Good stuff from the entire art team.

I hope Robinson can bring a bit more focus to this book, as the premise of Magical Kung Fu, in which she travels the world helping where she can, is cool - but a bit more of a solid direction would benefit this book greatly in my opinion.

At this point, you'd think I know enough about comics to know when they would be continuous and when they would be stand alones. Each story in this collection is a stand alone story that has an element of family to it, if not being the central theme.

It is interesting to read and find which family issues Wanda can solve, and which family issues she is unable to solve.

The art is considerably better than in the first collection, if only because it is more consistent. It all feels like it is done by a hand penciler, rather than... I don't entirely know. I sort of liked how Wanda changed her costume in every issue, even though I don't know if the costume changes meant anything. She does have one tiara with some dangling jewels (sorry for the lackluster description) that I believe is a nod to her Romany heritage.
I am certainly not a diehard for canon, but I am not sure why they felt the need to change her lineage as the daughter of Magneto. Of course, earlier this summer, I learned that Magneto was no longer Erik Leshnerr, so what do I know?

Overall, closer to 3.5 stars, than 3, but not a four star "I hope to revisit this some day" read.

For anyone interested in a more introspective comic, this is for you.

I enjoyed this volume more than the previous one, and I love how Wanda is on her own self-healing journey. Dialogue, especially concerning the history of the character and what they’ve been through, as well as establishing relationships, have always been interesting to me - especially the civil war tie-in issue - than action.

The art style of some issues is beautiful as well, and almost didn’t feel like a typical superhero comic (in the best way).

A half-assed review because I can’t dig into my brain for the right words, but I recommend it if you want some fresh, beautiful artwork, introspective dialogue, and overall a character confronting their trauma.
