The stories in Edging are set in urban spaces in Europe, Minnesota and Puerto Rico. Irrespectively of the place where they might live, the characters are called upon to struggle against self-hatred, intolerance and abuse due to their sexual orientation, that they may find vital fulfillment. In addition to those factors some face the ironic complexity of living with and surviving HIV. Several of the stories also explore the darker aspects of the self as confirmation that Narcissistic manipulation and cruelty are not the exclusive province of those who have not yet experienced the sensual alternatives of desire.
