The Marks Brothers Series follows three brothers' individual stories as they find love in the quiet little town of Glensville, Washington. Each book can be read as a standalone but the series would make more sense as a whole if the books are read in order. Book one follows August and Jayson's story.
Four and a half years ago August moved to Glensville, Washington to get as far away from his father as he possibly could. He's lived a quiet life, and never expected to find love in his sleepy little town, but then he met Jayson Pile; a sexy cowboy with a troubled past and an adorable son. August makes it his personal vow to help Jayson heal from the trauma that he had endured.
Jayson, a twenty-three-year-old single father, has just moved to Glensville. He is running from a traumatizing past, and trying to start over with his four-year-old son. He was surprised how quickly he is drawn to August Marks. August is perfect in every way and it's not soon until Jayson falls in love. Jayson learns that August is hiding his own insecurities and he plans to make sure that August understands that he doesn't need to prove himself to anyone.
Hi, I'm Nicki. When I'm not writing the latest erotic fantasy that pops in my head, I am cooking, reading, watching movies or traveling. I write mostly short erotic stories featuring LGBTQIA+ characters. I like my stories to be about men and women who find love in each other, and can explore their sexual natures together. Sometimes my stories have a little BDSM, sometimes they are a little more...vanilla. I like to represent a wide variety of characters in my stories, that way there is something for everyone within the pages of my stories. But don't worry there is always a happy ending.
Im such a sucker for hot dads! In this one, we have Jayson, who moved to Glensville with his four-year-old son after a couple tragedies made it to hard to stay in Texas. So, he moved to be near his Nana, who was such a sweet woman and pillar of the community as a longtime bakery owner.
August was a local, having moved there several years ago and worked at the newspaper. It was a small town in Seattle, and everyone was friendly and nice. His mother and brother also lived there, coming from old money, they hadn't always been close, but after August's mother survived breast cancer, she got herself together. He didn't have a relationship with his father though and after meeting the guy, I could see why.
When the two guys met, it was instant attraction and August was so good with Jaysons son, Billy. Everyone seemed really accepting in town, and I loved that. In Texas, as Jayson witnessed, it was unheard of there. I can imagine its the same in real life.
There were a few misspellings, such as, his-span-ic, and Apparantly, and some periods to end a sentence right in the middle of said sentence, but other than that... it was good.
I also wished wed have gotten some closure or karmic justice with Jayson and his father. He was AWFUL and he just got to be that way... His mother never defended him and the one time they visit it was short and awful and that was just kind of that... Augusts father came and demanded and was equally as terrible in a different way but we don't get any closure or anything solid from that, it was just glossed over and that was that. Very unresolved...
Another problem I had, was August mentioned several times a secret that he needed to tell Jayson, but we never found out what it was. He even went so far as to be like... I have to tell you something.... but then Jayson went first and his was traumatic, so they went to bed so August could comfort him and then... it never gets brought up again... that's seriously going to bug me LOL
Other than that, it was a decent story and Ill probably read Gabe's story... 3.5 stars from me.
