Safe Space #2

Safe Space II: The Finale

Rate this book
Love gained.
Love lost.
Or was it?
Chanel

I thought I finally had found my happy. Yes, I lied about my past to Xavier, but I never suspected it would blow up in my face the way it did. Now he’s gone, won’t answer my calls, and now, I’m left with nights plagued by nightmares, and that’s only when I’m able to get to sleep at all. I’m pretty sure Xavier and I are over, but why does that revelation cause my chest to ache, and the world to feel like it’s spinning off its axis? I’m all too familiar with rejection. I know I’ll get through this just like I got through every rejection in my past. I hope.

Xavier

Yes, I left. But not for the reasons I gave. Yes, Chanel lied about her past, but that I can get passed. It’s my own anger that scares me. The thought of losing yet another woman I love at the hands of another man was too much to bear. I needed to get away and focus on work, but Chanel is never far from my mind. I know we’ll see each other again…eventually. And when we do, I know I’ve got some explaining to do. We both do.

I waited for part 2 of this story with baited breath. I have to admit to being a little disappointed with part 2. In fact I think this whole story could have been told in one book if the truth be told. That said it is still a good story.

Sigh....so good!

Xavier is the epitome of strong black man and Chanel is his perfect counterpart. The back story is sad for both but they got through it with a little detour.

I loved how he showed his love for his mom and it was very realistic how he guarded his heart. Chanel's gentle heart masked so much pain and I'm happy the author included therapy in the story. Therapy is like taboo in the black community but so needed. Not dealing with their mishaps made her and Xavier both vulnerable to misinterpretations and hyper sensitive to normal issues.

Please tell me Jamal and Gabby will be next

Dramaaaa or should I say trauma? Great completion to the X and Chanel love story. I love the setup for Gabby and Jamal’s enemies to lovers story and can’t wait to read that one too.

Again, more like 3 1/2 stars.

There was a lot of filler in this book that did nothing to make this a great read. I think the author missed a great opportunity to make this story a 5 star read. I must say the sex scenes were hot; however, all that smexing without a good story is just like eating only the frosting on a cake without eating the cake. I enjoy this author and I think this was a good story, even though I did not particular enjoy the characters, but trying to stretch it out into 2 books made it an okay read .

Ok so this obviously is a continuation of Xavier and Chanel's story and ... OOF.

Here, we kinda see why Xavier was acting why he was - and Chanel works through a lot of her issues.

Kinda low key the thing that "most" stuck out for me [ok in the previous book Chanel talks about X's sexy "slightly pigeon toed walk" and I don't think I will EVER forget that and I kinda love it because it's so unique but I also can't ... picture a sexy swagger/stroll that's slightly pigeon toed? :X
[although there's hope for me I guess :P]

ANYWAY.

I kinda loved that Xavier hid Chanel's clothes.
The first time they have sex (in book one) - she slips out while he's still asleep.

SO - in the future, any time they're ... not ARGUING but there's any sort of tension/disagreement ... :P Xavier hides her clothes 😹😅 so she can't run out on him.
[I mean obviously she could wear one of his tshirts and basketball shorts or something and still call a ride....] - so there's that - but it's kinda cute.
Definitely more cute than creepy, because at this point they've already had a very established relationship. [Like if this was a stranger doing this, I do not think I'd think it'd be cute. At all.]

THEN - there's the time Chanel cooks breakfast for him [legit I can't remember if it was book 1 or 2 ...] but the fact that Chanel never cooks [or eats?] breakfast, and X is all smugly "man I must've put it on you REAL good last night" 😹 [and cuz he did] ❤️💯 [I mean, Chanel makes him waffles, omelets, bacon ... the works] go girl.

I liked that Xavier got his business revenge... and - I don't LIKE this part but he got to "feel better" because he kicked the shit out of Chanel's ex ... BUT what I DID like is that ... her ex also reformed. Like he went through whatever and apologized. Didn't start shit, didn't create drama, didn't try to blackmail her.
Chanel's trauma with dealing with her past was enough.

[OH GOD. I FORGOT ABOUT HER CLIENTS.] - chilling

So anyway, it was nice to read a TP book where the hero doesn't murder anyone or arrange for anyone to be murdered [pretty sure ...] - don't think he killed Rossi/had him killed ...

And while things aren't perfect they work them out and THIS guy - Xavier might be the most romantic hero <3

also TP REALLY loves her some multiple births :P

Anyway I can definitely see myself re-reading this book.

[Although instead of reading Jamal and Chanel's bestie's book I decided to start with the series that has Mal's sister ... although... = > I guess I will/might at some point but it's because I'm still so meh on "enemies to lovers" stories.]

Anyway for X and Chanel though - and he's all "to you I'm Xavier" <3 ...
C+

[oh! I wanted to note that this book is also really SEXY. Like obviously TP writes hot erotic romances - but I mean this one was sensual and good.] <3

I really like how we were able to show the repair of Chanel’s relationship with her dad. After learning what he said about her at 10 that really added to my distaste for him, but he seems to truly want to mend the broken relationship that he knows he caused.

For the most part I adore Xavier. One issue I had with him is the reason he walked out on Chanel. That thing with his aunt wasn’t a good enough justification. Another is how lightly he took the revelations of his mom and Chanel dad. Though technically it was book one where we learned of this, I just believe it was his dad (if he was married to his mom) and Chanel’s mom he’d have a totally different response. I feel like he wasn’t getting where she was coming from. But the thing that took the cake was how he used what she told him, in her attempt to be honest and vulnerable with him against her. I kept wondering as I read book two that everything was going so well what would the against be. And when it was stated that he was keeping tabs on Ethan and he mentioned he didn’t know how to feel about the revelation she made to him, I figured it might be something to do with that. I loved how Tiffany made that play out thought

Real talk, I was tearing up when I heard how what Xavier said made Chanel feel, during their visit to her counselor.

I see that there will be a book with Gabby and Jamal. The tension is already there so I know they will fall so hard for each other. I’ll be starting that stat.

I love how Xavier and Chanel worked things out. There’s was great journey and they both got their HEA in the end. I stan

They were each other's safe space

Both Xavier and Chanel had baggage from their past they needed to work through. Chanel came to understand that she would have to let Xavier know all about her dark secrets she never told anyone, including her best friend Gabby. Xavier came to understand that there were things that happened in his youth that was still affecting him as an adult and was in turn affecting his relationship with the woman he loved.

Tiffany wrote a very interesting story on how domestic violence not only affect the victim, but how it has a radiating affect to their loved ones. Both Xavier and Chanel worked through these ups and downs of their relationship to finally get to their HEA!

This is my review and how I see it. This book was worth the wait as author Tiffany Patterson continues to explore the relationship of Chanel and Xavier. Things come to light in this book Chanel has been dealing so much and when she finally reveals everything to Xavier thing between them are a little off. When he finally admits all that he is holding in it rocks Chanel to her core not just the pain from his past, but he projects her past pain and decision that she made into their relationship. What upset me about Xavier he wanted her to open up about everything but was holding out on Chanel.

Safe Space II was still hard hitting in some area especially dealing with domestic violence and the toll it takes on people in the life of those who are or have been a victim of domestic violence.

The interaction between Gabby and Jamal stole scenes in the book, and I cannot wait to read their story.

Loved it

I have read the vast majority of Tiffany Patterson books but had somehow overlooked this one. Thankfully, she mentioned a new cover for this book on her page and I went immediately to Amazon. A day and 2 very engrossing books later, I am at the end of Chanel and Xavier's beautiful love story. It was a wonderful journey. I loved Xavier's way of being inn the world, he was confident in who he was, he was a protector, but he was also able to be vulnerable and acknowledge his flaws. Chanel was damaged but strong and smart. She was courageous and had a big heart. She leapt out on faith even through her fears and was rewarded with repaired and strong family ties and a love for the ages. I highly recommend both books in this series.

I didn't like it

The first book was okay and the second book was a snooze fest. I honestly don't know the point of the second book. It took me 3wks to get though this book, which never happens. It takes me 2 days max to get though a book regardless of how long it is. I started skipping pages at the end. I didn't like Xavier. I don't think he was the right match for Chanel. She ended up getting on my nerves with the daddy issues. I also didn't like the use of the n word in this series. There were a few things I didn't like about this series, but I'll let other readers be the judge. Great author though. I've read a few of her books a few years ago and they were amazing.

Great read

Love this author writing. Channel is a survivor and champion for domestic violent victims. This book gives you a look from the victim side and also how it affects family and friends. Loved Gabby as she was willing to walk away then to stay and see her friend continue to be abused. She was also there for Channel when she finally decided to leave Ethan. Xavier also had to work through his own issues from seeing his Aunt go through the same thing. This books also speaks to how the relationship between children affect their relationship with opposite once we are grown. recommended by unique word, LLcC.

Absolutely loved this book, this duet

I don’t know where to begin... reading this duet brought up so much for me. Chanel was so relatable to me, her issues with her father were familiar. Having already read Gabby’s book- it was great to see the connection between them again. But Xavier! Whew... we all deserve an Xavier. He is simply beautiful. Everything about this couple was wonderful... their struggle, their healing, their growth. I loved it all. This book is a re-read in the making and one that will stick with me for a long time.

Great job Tiffany!! She continues to blow me away.

Just amazing

I loved this series for more reasons than one, let me tell you my reasons; first, I loved the blackness and not just any kind, I'm talking: educated blackness, millionaire blackness, well-connected blackness, sexy, hot, handsome, bougie blackness. Second, the relatability; the issues were real and relevant. Third, the civility and respectability of the relationships and characters, there was no messiness, no ratchetness, just class and elegance at it's blackest and finest. Finally, the development and noticable growth of each character. The characters didn't end where they started, they grew and evolved and the process was beautiful. This series was fire.

Brilliantly written story that captures your hopes and dreams for a happy ever after....

I was eagerly awaiting this book as I'd read Safe Space I, and really enjoyed it. I was scared as to whether or not the story would hold the same intensity as the first, well I was not disappointed, this story filled me with joy and apprehension, sadness and love for the couple as they work through their relationship. No spoilers from me, you need to read these books to understand why Tiffany Patterson deserved 5 stars plus.

Beautiful story 😍

Xavier and channel just stole my heart. I over loved this story of trauma turning into hope for them both. They both had past issues that could've stopped them from loving and finding happiness, but I love how Xavier wouldn't give up on chanel. It was such a real story as far as the girl with "daddy issues" not being able to have successful relationships and having abandonment issues. Everyone had a story but the most important one turned out for the best. Great job Tiffany Patterson!!!! I'm such a fan of your work😍

I truly enjoyed the conclusion to Xavier and Chanel's story! They both had been through a lot in their lives. But I'm glad they had each other in the end. I loved Xavier, he would do anything for Chanel and that is what she needed. I'm also glad that Chanel and her father were able to make amends. I'm glad they found their happily ever after! Also Chanel's ex got what he deserved. I was actually surprised he didn't try to interfere with Chanel's relationship but it was for the best in his case, lol.

Just…WOW!!!

This series had me crisscrossed with emotions. I went from being skeptical to giggling to swooning to being mad as hell to scared to mad as hell again to hot and bothered to just in awe. Xavier showed up as a MAN for Chanel and the way the story unfolded touched on being abused, surviving abuse, becoming empowered, healing and finally, accepting love. I truly enjoyed every single word devoured from page to page. Tiffany just doesn’t miss. Now I need to read Gabby and Jamal’s story. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰

Not a Safe Space

I only read book 2 because I felt obligated to see what would happen. Although I’m sure the author wanted Xavier’s actions as admirable, kind, thoughtful, domineering etc. I thought Xavier was more like Ethan than not. I didn’t like how he often took away her freedom, choice and time. I hated how he used sex to convince her to move in with him, and I was even more disappointed when HE decided when they would stop using protection. Chanel still felt like a brokem and unsure woman to me after this series.

I liked it. I was wondering why the author divided this story into two parts/books. Yes, it could've been one book, but I liked that it made the story longer and we get to see more of the Chanel and Xavier. I read "Something Special" a while ago and it was only after I finished this book and went to look if there was a book about Jamal and Gabby that I realized that I read it already. I don't know how I did not make the connection. I will say that I enjoyed Safe Space more than Something Special.

Her Heart Was Safe All Along

Xavier and Chanel's story had a very happy ending. I never doubted their love, nor the chance they would be together. The way the author wove the past hurts both Xavier and Chanel endured into their ultimate bond was well done. Ethan's part in Chanel's past pain was vindicated. Chanel's relationship with her father and brother were mended. The conclusion was like the words to a sweet song.... At Last.... X and Chanel found true love.

Love the Story!

A very good storyline, well defined characters and a H/h that are multilayered and likeable. I loved Chanel's independence, her feisty nature and strength, Xavier's strong, protective, possessive and caring personality. This romantic love story has family drama, secrets and obstacles for Xavier and Chanel to overcome along with plenty of off the chemistry and steam. Love conquers all for a HEA!

Domestic Violence is Real!

I am so grateful for this story ! It not only made you cry but made you laugh as well but most importantly it made you realize the affects of abuse have not only on families but on the personality of the people you meet . It affected my family tragically as a child and as an adult a couple of years ago so I'm grateful for this Love story JOB WELL DONE ! Now when is Gabby's story coming out? LOL

Beautiful

Xavier and Chanel were able to overcome some tough obstacles. They had deep rooted issues that needed to be worked out before they could truly fulfill their purpose. Their issues were similar, they connected because of that consciously and subconsciously. Xavier has become a favorite character of mine. His whole demeanor was so endearing. His need to protect those he loved, truly admirable. I did want to see if his issues with his dad were resolved.

Excellent Finale

So Xavier and Chanel couldn't stay apart and I was totally fine with that. They were made for one another. I loved that they did the work on themselves as well as together in therapy. And I loved that Chanel was able to repair her relationship with her dad and brother. Xavier beating her ex to a pulp was another bonus. Excellent read, highly recommend this series.

Lovely

This was such a lovely story. How can you not fall in love with Xavier? Chanel was a little trying, but she did love her some Xavier and Lord knows he loved her back.
The Author did a good job with the storyline, I just wished we had more of what actually transpired when Chanel finally pulled the plug with Ethan.
I hope there is more in store with Gabby and Jamal. And, rhetorically up with Ethan?

Safe space

All I can say is wow!!! Chanel escape an abusive relationship, she shut her heart down until she met the man that was meant for her. She came with baggage he came with baggage. They both grew together to solidify their relationship. She healed her heart and her relationship with her family putting her in a better place for her happy ever after. There was a lot of crying but I really enjoyed these two books.

Great finale!!!

Be still my heart!!! I just fell harder for Xavier. His love, care and dedication to Chanal was something to behold. I am so happy both of them were seeing a professional to deal with their past hurts. This series is a wonderful addition to Tiffany Patterson's body of works and as usual I am eagerly awaiting the next book.
